I was referred over to this gunsmith by my local Gun Shop. The worst mistake I made was not checking the Yelp reviews before hand like I normally do. I dropped off my fathers .22 rifle to be repaired on 04/16/22. Upon arrival CJ and what seemed like his mom were very friendly and welcoming. I asked for a receipt but he said his printer was "not working" that I would receive one with confirmation information via email for dropping off the rifle... never received one. I asked what the estimated repair time would be... he mentioned no more than a month... that he would call and update me on the status... a month when by... no updates... no calls... I than began to worry about the legitimacy of this business and now I am genuinely concerned I'll never see my fathers rifle again. I have called, emailed and visited the shop on many occasions with no response. I have filed a claim with the BBB against Worthy Armory.... I have called his property management company named Aszkenazy Development to inform them of the type of business he is operating... I have filed a report with the San Fernando Police Dept down the street... if I don't hear from Christopher Nicholas Lee ASAP I intend on hiring a private investigator to locate him and serve him to prosecute Worthy Armory to the fullest extent. Please arrange for someone to meet me at the shop to pick up my rifle. read more

Okay, where to begin... Ask anyone of my friends, I am extremely OCD with all of my firearms... to an entirely NEXT LEVEL of OCD. The slightest issues will throw me over the edge. So naturally, coming into Worthy Armory to drop off my gun was a bit difficult as I practically do all of my own work on all my guns. I came in to get a new barrel fitted, head-spaced, and mounted to my AR15 upper, along with a gas block, and tube. CJ asked me to come right in, as soon as I called. (Other places wanted me to leave my rifle for 4-8 weeks, for a 1-2 hour job??) He went right to work once I arrived. But then after a few minutes came out and assured me he wanted the job done perfectly, and that it would require staying for one night. I felt comfortable enough with his knowledge and attention to detail to take his advice and leave my gun. The next day, he called me early in the morning to inform me the gun was almost complete. Upon arrival, the gun looked phenomenal! The job was done better than anything I could of accomplished, and I truly felt as if he cared for my gun as if it was his own. The absolute worst gun shop I have ever worked with I placed a order for a rifle just shy of a year already and had to pay 3k upfront because of their (Covid) policy. I was told the build would take 3 months and now coming on a year I ask for a full refund and now the owner CJ has no rifle for me nor does he have any refund for me most likely because he took everyone's money that he got from these orders and spent it. It has been about a week and he still has not been able to refund me more come with a solution to me wanting to cancel this order and get a refund. Did an FFL transfer with them. It cost $150 which I thought was a little steep but I was OK to pay it. The problem is they lost the magazine cap to my gun and never replied or responded to my phone messages or emails. During the transfer period they were storing the barrel and the gun separately and when I went to go pick up the gun they tried to give it to me WITHOUT THE BARREL. Luckily I caught that little mistake but they also happened to somehow lose the magazine cap. I tried calling and leaving messages and also leaving emails but they just refused to respond. This is beyond bad customer service and I would NEVER trust them again after this. Also if your primary business is a gunsmith I would expect them to be a little better at keeping track of parts... If they had maybe apologized and/or helped me try to source another magazine cap I wouldn't be leaving this review but they just buried their head in sand and ignored me. My experience with Worthy Armory was top notch. The quality of work to my custom Glock 17 and 1911 was above and beyond my expectations. Anyone who understands good work knows that time is relevant to the quality of work. The turn around was a while but knowing from understanding that Cj does all work by himself I understood that getting to me would just mean I'd have to wait. Anyone bickering about the turn around should understand this aspect with custom work. I'm extremely satisfied with my Gucci Glock. Now only if the price of ammo would go down. I don't even know where to start with these guys. Almost every single thing that came out of CJ's mouth was a load of BS and a lie. When I first came in he was bragging how his $150 transfer fee is so cheap because it included DROS and that other FFLs are charging upwards of $300. Absolute BS. I can name multiple FFLs in the area that charge $60 for transfer, making it close to $100 with DROS. He was also telling a guy he could get a Glock 19 for $750 and acted like it was a good price. I feel bad for him if he paid that much. I wanted to get the front sight on my 1911 switched out. I called CJ and he claimed he could overnight the sight and get it installed the next day after (as you can guess this wasn't true). When i got there, CJ claimed he knew someone important that could get the slide milled out for a red dot. I said why not. I waited for about 5 days and no news on the slide milling (unsurprisingly), so I cancelled and asked for only the front sight. I asked for pricing and it took CJ over a week to get back to me. He then gave me a price and a time frame of one week even though he already had the front sight. One week later - no news. At least CJ is consistent in lying. Asked him what's up, no answer. Told him I needed it a few days after, and he said "you might have it back tonight, but you have to let us work." The irony was just too much. I went to pick up the gun today which was over 3.5 WEEKS from when I went dropped my gun off. CJ claimed that it typically takes 5 hours to replace a 1911 front sight. More complete and utter BS lol. Yes, 1911 sights must be fitted and are harder to install. But for a "gunsmith" to claim it takes 5 hours to replace only a front sight is just hilarious. CJ scuffed up my slide when he tried to install it, and the really funny part is that the tritium barely works. I feel like this kid has had this sight laying around for ages, and i even asked him how long he had it for (got it last month he said lol). He told me it was okay though because Trijicon has a lifetime warranty, so apparently it doesn't matter that Trijicon can't take off the sight, replace it, and reinstall it for me to make up for CJ's complete incompetence. And then he tells me I still have to "activate" the tritium. LOL. I've never heard something so retarded in my life. Apparently CJ never took a chemistry class or, more likely, that he thinks he can trick me into thinking that his complete BS sight can be activated with the power of the sun. "It's on every tritium sight package." It's not, tritium isn't "activated, and CJ is a complete loser conman. I couldn't handle this idiot handling or keeping my gun for another second. I'd rather pay for someone else to fix CJ's loser work. And lastly, the real kicker was CJ laughing and mocking me for trying to put the safety on without the hammer pulled back. Real classy guy. Oh, and I won't forget CJ yelling "CLOSE THE DOOR" because I didn't realize I left his door open on the way out. Even his neighbor was astounded by how rude it was. I mean honestly all this is just hilarious at the end of the day. CJ wasted my time for 3 weeks with his BS, scuffed up my $2000 gun slide, put on a sight likely knowing the tritium was not good, lied to me constantly, and then acted like the piece of garbage he is when I went to pick up. Do yourself a huge favor and avoid this place. There are tons of other reputable gunsmiths that won't dick you around, lie to you, and waste your time. read more

Moved a few weeks ago and apparently spilled something into my hard case without knowing. A few days later, I open my case prior to heading to the range only to see that the sight on my Springfield XD is caked in rust. Brought it to the guys at Worthy Armory. Not only are they super friendly, but they're extremely knowledgeable and do great custom work from what I've seen. I think it maybe took them an hour to clean/ replace my sights. If no, or negative, Star ratings were possible, I would have used them. Let me start by saying that the positive reviews here are confusing, to say the least. My experience with Worthy Armory, although initially okay, has turned into a disaster. Multiple emails and voicemails go unanswered. If you are lucky enough to get a reply from CJ Lee, the owner, he NEVER follows through with what has been promised. Something is very wrong with this business and I suspect it to be financial in nature. I also anticipate that this business will be no more in very short order especially if he treats (ignores) other clients like I have been treated. In fact, when I visited the business today, it was closed. There were two customer notes stuffed into the doorsill asking for call backs and information on their items. There was another customer who arrived just minutes after I had. He told me that CJ has had his firearm for 7 months and he cannot get any replies or follow through from him. I initially found this business because of a FFL transfer on a rifle I purchased at a sporting goods store outside of my area. I received an email from that store telling me the item had been delivered to Worthy Armory. I made numerous calls and sent several emails to Worthy Armory to confirm the receipt of the rifle. It was two weeks before they finally replied and confirmed that they had received it. I then set up the appointment (walk-ins are not permitted) to complete the paperwork which went fairly well. I had purchased a scope and mounts for this rifle but lacked the rail to attach it. CJ assured me he could get the rail and mount the scope. When I returned 10 days later to pick up the rifle, he had not ordered the rail or mounted the scope. In addition, their printer was malfunctioning and they could not provide me with the FFL paperwork. He asked if I wanted to take the gun and bring it back when he had the rail. Sadly and stupidly I chose to leave it with him. Additionally, and another huge mistake, was that I brought in my brand new Colt AR for upgrades and modifications. We discussed numerous options which were possible and I was assured, again, that he would get back to me on pricing and everything would be ready in short order. I received an apologetic email 8 days later telling me he would get back to me that day with a price breakdown on the modifications for the Colt so that things could move forward. Well, this never happened. He is not returning calls made to the business or to his private line....."mailbox is full and cannot accept further messages". That tells you all you really need to know. CJ is in possession of nearly $4,000.00 worth of my items and I am greatly concerned I may never see them again. I have only one option left and that is to contact the San Fernando Police Department and see what they may be able to do to help get my items returned. If that is not successful, I will file a Suit in Small Claims Court. You have been warned. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS. Do not be misled by him and his initially friendly and welcoming ways. read more

Unworthy. Very unworthy. I took a vintage .22 rifle there to be repaired. When I dropped it off I was told it would be done in a month... However, after not hearing from them for a month I called and was told that due to the ammo shortage, they were unable to purchase ammo to test it. I made a special trip back there to drop off ammo and was told, "I think the parts are on order". Then I returned about a month later, during their normal business hours, to find their shop was gone. Gulp! Is my rifle gone for good? At this point I realized I had never received a drop off receipt or any paperwork for my gun, the employee had just scribbled down my name and phone number on a piece of paper. Holy Crap, where's my rifle?? I tried to quell the panic as I asked around the business complex and was told they moved to a new suite across the hall. The new location was locked up tight and completely dark, with no signage at all. They hadn't told me that they relocated, moved my rifle and changed their hours, so not only was that extremely unprofessional, it was a completely wasted trip for me. A call to them went straight to a voicemail instructing me to send an email and that I would promptly receive a return email. Several DAYS later I finally received an email from CJ the owner telling me that he had just fixed my rifle and range tested it, that it was now working fine. I was finally able to make an appointment via email and drove several hours to the shop. I arrived and no one was there, the shop was locked, with another customer waiting outside for an appointment. I checked my email and found a message from the owner that he was running about 30 minutes late. Really? You know I'm driving 3 hours to your shop and you can't be there on time?? The other customer tells me CJ was late for his last appointment also. Once CJ arrived, he slipped into the back of the shop. As I waited I could hear him racking the rifle mechanism repeatedly and it sounded as though he was doing a quick cleaning. Hmmm, I thought my rifle had already been throughly tested and serviced?? I paid $180 for the repair, and asked for a receipt... I was told they were unable to print a receipt and was told that he'd email a receipt. Frankly, at that point I was just happy to have my sweet vintage rifle back in my own two hands and away from this flaky business. I honestly thought I was never going to see it again. I emailed several times over the next couple of weeks asking for a receipt and finally received an email from CJ telling me he would do that as soon as he was back in the shop. I never did receive a receipt and finally gave up asking. I was told my rifle was serviced and working perfectly. However, it is not fixed, on my first trip to the range it still jambs, just as I did when I took it in. A trip to a real gunsmith later revealed that it had been slathered in gun oil, but not even completely disassembled and thoroughly cleaned. What a joke. Run, do not walk, away from this place as fast as you can! read more

The quality of the work is very good. The quality of the communication, availability via phone or email, and the time it can take for a job to be completed - room for improvement. You'll be happy with the end result, but be prepared to have your patience tested along the way. Still, the prices are fair and everyone is nice and polite. Some gunsmith shops seem to require their employees to fail a personality test in order to get hired - not the case here. read more

If I could give him a negative ten star, I WOULD!!! I went in thinking a week was reasonable for the work I needed and was promised. Six weeks later, yes 6, calls and e-mails almost daily with no answer and the store closed all that time with no posted note or emergency contact, a police and ATF report filed and I still was only able to get my property back with no work done and no refund of my almost $300 dollars. Not a real business. Came in over a month ago, met with Luke. Thought I ordered a part through him, he even took my card to pay for it. Little did I know he tried to just run my personal card for a part delivery. The shop was a mess, with random parts and semi assembled firearms everywhere. The order was never accepted probably because the billing info didn't add up...Usually, when a store orders a part for you, its done by a PO and then you pay for the cost.... I didn't find out until almost a month later when I called to check on the part that I thought I had ordered... Luke called me back to apologize and I asked to speak to Luke's boss C.J, who seemed cool and sort of calmed me down. He told me about other work he had done and got me excited. He then said he would personally text me photos of that work to discuss..... 1.5 weeks later... never got that text.... talk about empty words Such a waste of time coming here... and I had to pay $20 for a consultation that actually went nowhere.
