The photo ops are endless here. The lobster bake for dinner was scrumptious! The owner, Todd, has a brother who is a lobster fisherman. He caught our lobsters the morning of the wedding! The corn on the cob was so sweet and the potatoes fluffy! Todd is a wonderful host and is so welcoming. I showed up a little early so we were browsing outside. Todd came right out and introduced himself and gave us a little tour and some interesting history of how his predecessors opened the Bed and Breakfast. I would've given 5 stars but we did have some "communication" issues with Todd's wife, Karen. In all fairness to her, she did admit to me on the phone that she was only involved since Todd's Mom had passed away 2 years ago. I don't think this is her "niche" and, sadly it shows. Imo, she doesn't seem like a "people person" which caused some unnecessary stress at times. However, I do have to say she is a fantastic cook! Overall, I do recommend The Mooring Bed and Breakfast.

We met our tour guide, Abbie, in front of the police station and we instantly knew this would be a great day. Abbie shared stories about the area and guided us on things to do around town. We tasted food from several local establishments, got a free sample from Eventide And finished the tour with a flight of beer from the local brewery. We found a friend in Abbie too! I definitely recommend this place for families or couples with dogs as it is very pet friendly and children too. Great location and a very short trip into town and other local attractions. Check in was easy a breeze and Lori one of the owners gave us a binder full of information on both the resort and the Boothbay area. She also suggested best places to watch the 4th of July fireworks. Best part of checking in is you get to check out the on-site wine, beer and cheese shop. Yes that's right I said on-site wine, beer and cheese, within walking distance of your cottage! There is a excellent selection of wines and craft brews and specialty cheeses and spreads. The day we checked in there was a complimentary wine tasting of 4 wines and they even had some cheese and snacks our to pair with the wines. The wine attendant was very knowledgeable about wine. We walked out with a bottle of the Pepper Pot wine. Excellent! We stayed in the Balsams # 6 2 bedroom cottage which is closest to the dog "potty" area. We had 4 adults, a dog and a baby. It was cozy but tolerable size for 3 nights. We had just enough room but occasionally it did feel claustrophobic with 4 adults a dog running about and baby gear. The cottage we stayed in was immaculate. The housekeeping staff do a great job at maintaining. The cottages are up-to-date and have just what you need in the kitchen to prepare some small meals. Bring a bottle opener! They do not stock in kitchen and ding you $5 if you go to the wine shop to buy one. The flat screen TV and cable was a nice diversion when you wanted to catch up on news. The wi-fi was slow and I didn't really use it. There is 3G coverage up there. The only really bad "Con" at this place was the condition of the BBQ grill and we like to BBQ. Lori did tell us a head of time it was a campground style grill. It was unfortunately unusable as the grate you put your food on was completely rusted out. They need to do something to protect the grills when not in use. We had to go down to the Hannaford grocery store down the street and buy a portable charcoal mini grill. The outdoor picnic table was a nice place to lounge around, read or socialize or watch the resident chipmunks and birds make their rounds about the resort. The bathroom is stocked with towels daily but they do encourage water conservation so they like you to reuse your towel if possible. The A/C was needed quite often as it was muggy and it definitely took the edge of the humidity and stuffiness in the cottage. We used the in ground pool which again was well kept, clean and the water was a decent temperature thanks to their solar panel heating system. The pool has towels stocked for your use. We did not get to use the hot tub while we were there but it was a standard square hot tub with a cover. Looks like it was well maintained. I never saw the bocce court, maybe I just missed it? Also they do advertise on their website about campfires but the firepit was not lit up any of the nights we were there, even on a busy 4th of July weekend. The owners were busy with construction of the brewery building so we hardly even saw them. Also, just a note, any of the work being done over at the brewery building was barely audible from our cottage and did not bother us at all. Overall great place and we would definitely go back, just as long as we bring our own grill. We've already recommended to several friends to check it out.

We were too early for the brewery tour, but had a lovely conversation with the owner & checked out the resort itself. First, the owner seemed wonderful! She shared recent updates with us & answered all of our questions with a smile. She seemed to be very excited about the new brewery part of the business & additional cottages. The pool and shaded patio area are beautiful! There are common areas outside with games etc and grills at each cottage. This is a great place to have a reunion or vacation with friends~ especially with the on-site brewery. We are hoping to plan a trip with several of our friends for next summer. Great proximity to the busy Boothbay Harbor tourist attractions too!

Go to impress parents or similar if you are a college student. For quality and price, based on our experience, would not do again. Overcooked eggs, grudging portions, mix and match plateware that just confounds (bacon and eggs in a bowl - really? but only for one person in the party?). The menu is also misleading. The fabled "hash of the day" turned out to be just a pile of ordinary unremarkable overcooked and unseasoned home fries. The same side everyone else had for free, but costing some part of the wallet-stretching $21 in the context of the all-in "165" breakfast - two overcooked over-easy eggs (no seasoning), a slice of thin sourdough bread cut in two, a pile of indifferent home fries and two of the smallest pieces of bacon you can imagine. $8-12 in any self-respecting diner in the country, and typically made with far more care and flavor. When asked how plain ordinary home fries were a "hash of the day" when they were also unmentioned sides for other dishes, the waitress shrugged and said "it's a KIND of hash. We call that hash here." Touche. Should have asked more questions. And the toast is a single piece of seemingly storebought sourdough bread cut in half (no evidence here, just disappointment being expressed). No substitution, no extras. Pretty much no butter, either. Another member of the party had the blueberry pancakes, Thick and heavy, and unremarkable, once again. Any diner does it better - for half the price. Timing was a serious issue too. The dining room was somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 full. 3-4 tables in other words. Still took well over 45 minutes to get food. Watched 2 pairs of other diners come, order, eat, pay and leave as we waited, Food came cool with no explanation or apology for the long wait. Small complaints perhaps, but at this price, they are making bold claims and utterly failing to match up. Breakfast should be a lay-up for places like this. The ingredients cost almost nothing and the work involved is strictly short-order, simple, fast-turn work in a relatively uncrowded dining room. No reason to go light on ingredients or on flavors. Breakfast is an easy meal to wow in aplace like this, and New England has traditions to uphold - and yet the establishment clearly did not see the point in putting in the effort to match their prices, decor, or location. The capper was watching the tables cleared by a surly teenager in stained board shorts and stained tshirt and sneakers with unwashed hair in a beautiful dining room. The young man clomped in and would withdraw 1-2 plates at a time before stomping out, taking over ten minutes to clear a single table. Overpriced and under-quality. It's for tourists. Beautiful building, though.

Sam, the new PGA golf pro, is helpful and friendly. The food and beverage service, provided by the Long Reach Kitchen and Catering company is excellent. Their staff is also friendly and helpful, the menu is varied, and their drink menu is fun. All and all, a great local golf course. The PGA may never play at the Bath Golf Club but it is a fun place. In retrospect, I would have missed a treat had we not stayed at the Brewster House Bed & Breakfast on Main Street in Freeport, Maine. Owned and run by Kelleigh and Dave, the latter is a trained chef, and the former is a consummate professional in caring for their customers. We also had the pleasure of meeting one of their children and heard a couple of hilarious stories about some oil changing mishaps. Turns out, the breakfast part of the B&B is my element. Instead of one long table, which some B&Bs provide, Brewster House offers smaller tables for two or in our case, tables together to accommodate three guests. We were all seated in one room, a dark blue-walled space with white antique dishes and a moose head as decoration, close enough to talk, yet separated enough to have private conversations. All of us guests chatted and laughed and shared stories as Kelleigh deftly served and described each day's three courses. Dave occasionally looked out, but seemingly a bit shy for compliments stayed in his kingdom of that wonderful kitchen. Here's to Dave who shared some of his culinary acumen in the forms of shirred eggs with fresh greens, firm peaches donned with whipped topping, blueberry-kissed French toast, and so very moist waffles with dreamy homemade syrup. The bath towels were of good, heavy quality, which is important to me and the lotions and soap with little images of a Maine village were nice touches. Being from Florida, we weren't certain if we were dreaming at night when air conditioning was not needed. The property is several decades old and one can hear that when ascending and descending stairs, but they were sturdy so that's all that really matters. I sat on the multi-colored rockers on the porch at the side a time or two and absorbed the peace that I felt at Brewster House. I may never visit Maine again, but Brewster House Bed & Breakfast is etched into my memory as one of my favorite things about my first visit to Freeport, Portland and surrounding quaint towns in Maine. If you ever plan on visiting the area, give this historic location a try.
