When we started searching for furniture for our new house a few years ago Derbyshire popped up on just about every list I checked and had plenty of great reviews. Now that we've made a few of our own purchases I totally understand the praise this small business gets. The shop is small but mighty and packed with so many good pieces. If your style leans traditional - they've got it. If your style leans more contemporary/modern - they've got it. Plus a few things in between that could go in either direction and work with just about any style or decor. Everything is solid wood and totally customizable. You can pick your stain or paint plus your hardware (should you order something with hardware, of course). The couple that owns the shop have always been very kind and very patient, answering all the questions... especially when I was coming in every other week for too many weeks to look at dressers before I finally made up my mind. Lead time was accurate, delivery days/times were accommodating and the guys that arrived to place our items were totally courteous. For our last order/delivery the guys didn't leave until they leveled our dressers perfectly. I didn't even have to ask.. they just did it and that's how a good delivery and install team should operate. Truly, I only have good things to say about Derbyshire. Next piece of wood furniture that we need I will definitely be stopping in Derbyshire first to check things out.

I can't speak to their usual hours, but I believe there was an art festival that just began that night, so the shop had extended hours. The owner was so kind, helpful, friendly, fun, warm and informative. Nothing was priced, and I was a little worried I would get a crazy total at the end when I went to check out, but nope! Every single thing was incredibly reasonable. It is one of those shops where you really have to hunt, do a few laps and walkthroughs and take your time. She had clothes, bags, wall art, dishes, jewelry... you name it. I left with a seashell trinket dish, a Stangl speckled plate and a cat jar/candle that I picked up for a friend. She even wrapped that up separately because she heard me say it was a gift. There were several other shops and art galleries in this lot, but not everyone was open when we stopped in. There is a parking lot! But it's not too big so you might have to find a spot elsewhere on a busy day. I can't wait to come back for more treasures.

We purchased a table and after delivery, we noticed some nicks after we came back from vacation. We never used it as we were still looking for dining chairs. Our expert woodworker noticed that it isn't "solid" wood as the salesman mentioned and he pointed out the multiple nicks and scratches throughout the table. The table base was held together with only Phillips heads, small washers, and staples. The staples held the panels that formed the base and our woodworker mentioned that another couple had the same table except that one had glue instead of staples. I tried calling them and nobody picked up, when my wife called they were very rude and the person who I believe is the owner of Pera initially stated that there is a "lifetime" warranty and pretended to try and work with you. However, the second time my wife called, he stated that he never mentioned that and claimed we were the ones who damaged the table. His attitude seems to give off that his product is superior to others and nothing can compare to it. We also heard from our neighbors that Peradesign wasn't the first business he owned, there have been multiple businesses before Pera was even a thought. We are dissatisfied with this company and be wary of those who claim their product is perfect.

Following the sales representative's instructions, I contacted customer service and submitted photos and videos documenting the issues. They arranged for a third-party cleaning service, which initially seemed like a reasonable solution. However, the experience quickly declined. The cleaner arrived dragging a steamer across a sidewalk covered in melting snow and salt, then entered my home wearing only flimsy shoe covers, leaving wet, dirty marks all over my hardwood floors. The equipment itself also left marks. While he addressed some of the stains on the sectional, he completely ignored the console, which had clear discoloration on the corners--similar to wear caused by repeated handling in the same area. He took photos and said he would report back to customer service. After that, I received no follow-up. When I reached out, I was told that my claim was no longer valid because it fell outside the 30-day reporting window--even though they were supposed to follow up with a resolution regarding the console and failed to respond. I was also told that the discoloration on the console was merely "the customer's perception," based on the cleaner's feedback. Overall, this was a frustrating experience. While the products may look appealing, the lack of accountability, poor communication, and dismissive customer service make it difficult to recommend this company.

Within approximately two years of normal use, the bed began to show significant structural failure. Multiple metal support legs bending and buckling at the connection points, and the platform boards warping, making the bed unstable and unusable. I contacted Modani and provided photos. In their response, they acknowledged that structural failure under normal use is not expected. However, they refused to offer any type of solution--no repair, replacement, or store credit--solely because the item was outside of their warranty period and has been discontinued. So essentially, a $2,000+ bed failed prematurely, and their position is that the customer is fully responsible and with no recourse. No offer of store credit, repair, partial refund nothing. This was especially disappointing as I am a repeat customer and have purchased multiple items from them. I expected a company that positions itself as high-quality to stand behind its products. Buyers should be aware that once you are outside their warranty window, you may be left with no support--even in cases of clear structural failure.

Shortly after getting the table, I placed a couple of plastic bottles on it. Later, I noticed scratches where I had placed the bottles (see attached photo). I thought the scratches might just be marks on the surface and tried to rub them out. I used a plastic scrubber and only made matters worse. I contacted the sales rep at White House Furniture and their response was basically, "oh, well." They would do nothing to help me repair the damage aside from giving me the name of a refinisher. This is a DINING ROOM TABLE but now I am now afraid to put anything on it because it scratches so easily. This table, plus delivery cost me almost $2,000 and I am stuck with a table that needs to be covered to be used. I might as well have gone to a Bob's furniture store and purchased a cheap one if it is going to be covered all the time. I like working with the smaller vendors but will not support vendors who do not stand behind their products. Avoid these people.

Came with measurements and a floor plan and my designer came up with a really creative way to set up my room. Sounds great - right? It was, until when the furniture was delivered, I discovered my designer had ordered the wrong size dresser/chest unit. It fits in my room but not in the way I thought it could be arranged. I called the store immediately, the designer came to the phone but offered no apologies, no options. It's a custom piece, of course, so I can't return it. But I am deeply disappointed and will not use this particular Ethan Allen again. Buying furniture should be fun - and for the price, their customers should be thrilled with how the room turns out. I can't dump tens of thousands on furniture right now - there will be plenty of business for them over time.

Despite the smaller selection, the furniture pieces appeared to all be high quality and of good value. Their products ranged from antique to modern and from basic to "top of the line."  They are much less expensive than new, sometimes very unique, and always good for the environment. They would pick up resellable items, so please call them before one puts any furniture out for the trash. They do great things for the community as a nonprofit and try to support their cause if one can.
