Vegan banana split muffin, complete with a cherry on top
    Michele F.

I stopped in today to get a yummy treat. I opted for a banana split muffin because I had never heard of such a thing and figured why not? It was a good sized and tasty muffin, but I found the texture to be a bit off (probably because it was vegan, which I'm not used to). That didn't stop me from eating it, though! It's a cute little shop that had a number of customers in it. I can see why it's a local favorite.

Quaint little place! You can tell as you walk in that the baked goods are going to be delicious, and I was correct! We had an apple strawberry muffin that was delightful, so moist, and you can taste the chunks of apple! Also grabbed two $.50 dog biscuits our girls loved. Ease of ordering, staff was very friendly!

This place doesn't get ENOUGH love. Best bakery in RVA, if not all of VA! If you're a fan of coconut crème pie (my personal fave) or, frankly, any kind of baked good, run (don't walk!) to WPA right now!

Service was good, employee was nice. The ambience is new upscale ambiance with an artsy antique vibe. Rejoice to gluten free and vegan people because that's most of what they carry. I feel like the muffin would have been better without it being gluten free, it had a whole grain-ish /bran taste that I wasn't a fan of but the tea was amazing. I got a masala chai tea. Unfortunately they don't sell it there but it was really enjoyable

Custom birthday cake Vanilla cake with white buttercream and coffee icing

Bought a custom cake for my bf's birthday from WPA Bakery. The process was super easy and the baker was responsive, easy-going, and wonderful! I only requested a simple vanilla confetti cake with white buttercream and coffee icing for the letters. She also gave me extra sprinkles on the side! The price was $40 which is not bad for a custom cake that me and my partner kept for a while (froze the leftovers; it was still quite good). Next time, I would like to try a more complicated recipe so it is more worth the customized price tag. A simple cake like the one I ordered would have been more affordable to make on my own or buy from the store. That is why I am giving it a 4 star. The cake didn't taste AMAZING but it was good. Parking is street only but I didn't have much trouble picking up the cake at around 3:30 pm on a Wednesday. The pic below does not show the birthday message I sprinkled extra on top of the coffee icing (I don't have a pic of it before the sprinkles my b)

    Apple pie

Happened upon this place and LOVED the vibe and great customer service. The crust on the pie was white like it was undercooked as in raw dough. I couldn't eat it. I dug around but was unable to finish it because of the uncooked pie crust. I would give them another try because I really liked the vibe and it's local.

GF vegan chocolate cake w peppermint frosting

I ordered many times from this bakery. So far it is the best bakery that can do gluten-free, vegan and soy free cakes and pies. Bakers are always very responsive and open to do different flavors and combinations that are not on the standard menu. In the past year I ordered here a vanilla cake with lemon filling, chocolate cake with vegan Nutella and strawberry filling, and chocolate cake with peppermint frosting and covered with candy canes. For my recent birthday I ordered blueberry pie and it was fantastic too. They are also reasonably priced. Highly recommended this place and will order again. I wish I had more pictures but these cakes just disappeared to fast :)

I wanted to come to WPA since they are one of the few bakeries that always carry gluten free items. The person behind the counter was in quite a rush and didn't greet us or really say hi. I'm not a big bread pudding fan but I wanted to try something different. They also had GF cookies, coffee cake, macarons and much more. I was pleasantly to see on the menu that they carry GF breakfast sandwiches as well. The bread pudding was okay. The Caramel honey glaze is what made it taste better. This is not something I would order again but I certainly would come back to try other items.

Gluten free coffee cake and gluten free English muffin sandwich
    Sarah P.

One of my favorite coffee shops in Richmond. Tons of gluten free and vegan options. Really enjoyed their gluten free English muffin breakfast sandwich. Their coffee cake is solid though I think it used to be a lot better. The canelès are some of my favorite baked goods, donuts are solid, muffins are super good.

They make a beautiful sourdough country loaf that is fantastic to bring home, slice in 1/2" slices with a sharp bread knife, put in a gallon freezer bag, and freeze for amazing sandwiches and treats during the week. Try a Spanish pan con tomate with one of these slices slightly toasted, with a rub of garlic, salt, and good e.v. olive oil, and you'll be happy as a clam. (What does that even mean?) Or use said previously frozen slices as a dessert treat with your sleepy time tea, toasted with butter and good local raw honey drizzled on it. Bathrooms are very clean. Next up, I will go early to sit down and eat there, trying one of the incredible looking breakfast sandwiches and/or salads that folks seem elated to be eating.

One of the things I instantly noticed on the menu was their vegan breakfast sandwich with a homemade bean-based sausage patty. I got myself an egg and cheese sandwich on a buttermilk biscuit (delicious, by the way) with pepper jack cheese, veggies (tomato, lettuce, and avocado), and for a dollar extra, one of their vegan breakfast sausage patties. I was immediately impressed by how flavorful the patty was- you get a crispness upon the first bite and then the creaminess of the beans afterwards. It was absolutely incredible in a way I can't even describe. I also got the Thai iced coffee, which tasted as sweet as a typical Thai iced tea, yet in coffee form. I may only be spending a few days in Richmond, but I'm absolutely coming back next time I'm here to try more things. DIVINE! The woman behind the counter was super sweet too.
