I was just doing some due diligence before purchasing a used car, and I had already made a verbal agreement with the seller to buy it, when I called Transolutions to get a reference on the car. The guy at Transolutions said "well If I knew it was for sale, I would have bought it! I might go over and outbid you, haha". Too bad they weren't joking. I had already made an agreement to purchase the vehicle from the daughter who had it listed. The mother has dementia and didn't know or remember that her daughter told her that she already agreed to sell it to me. Brian went over right away and convinced the mother to sell it to him. He had to have gotten the keys and Title from their friend who had already agreed to meet with me a few days later. Clearly he felt the need to hurry and go buy it as soon as possible before I had the chance to wrap things up. He knew full well that he wouldn't have even known it was for sale unless I had called Transolutions asking about it. According to him, he said "if anyone's in line before me to buy it, sell it to them", but the granny didn't remember that her daughter already told her it was sold. I pointed out to Brian that he was literally going against his own word, and his response was that it was "God's will". I asked Brian if he was a good God-fearing Christian, and he said "of course!". Sorry Brian, but I really don't think Jesus would approve of your slimy behavior. If someone is willing to act like this as an individual, I doubt they'll have any integrity in running a business. I brought my Volkswagen Jetta TDI in with a def injector line leak. They replaced the injector line and then couldn't finish the job. They didn't check the pump. So, the countdown to no start won't reset. I had to take it to another mechanic and start all over. The part cost less than $100 online and I paid almost $700 and can still not drive my car. I feel like since they weren't able to fix the problem they should not have taken on the job or not made me pay the full price for a job not completed. read more

Oh boy to find the words.. the WORST customer experience I've ever had. We came in with our Range Rover knowing it will cost a good amount of money to fix. Fast forward to them having our car for 2 weeks. No updates until I called myself to find out when it will be ready. No communication between the customers and whoever runs the front desk. They told us $1700 with parts and service. Perfect just about what we thought it would cost. As I'm pulling my credit card out to pay this "large bill" (most I've ever spent in a repair shop) the man at the front desk continues to tell me and my husband "this will be the last time we do any work on your car, you've been nothing but a f***ing pain in the a**" .... Woah. Let me break it down. I am a young female, multiple times did I tell them I'm not tech savvy in this mechanic stuff can you please break it down for me. Also my husband does not know English super well so he too needed things on the bill explained better to us. All in all I believe they were annoyed with us for simply asking to help us understand our $1700 BILL!!! I was shaking I was so appalled. I even took a video of this mess but I'll save this business somewhat by keeping that to myself. DO NOT BRING YOUR IMPORTS HERE!!! WHAT A JOKE. Transmission went out on my 06 Jeep Wrangler in the area and got ahold of Transolutions to rebuild it. Not only did it take them 2 days to get eyes on it but then I was quoted $4,600; the average cost sits around $2,400 so this was insane and no budging on price. Ended up getting my Jeep towed to a cheaper area where I got it done for $1,800. The only transmission Translolutions should be shifting into is reasonable prices. read more

I've driven my 1990 Volvo 240 in the snow each winter since I bought it new many years ago. Weekly ski trips are routine. I'll be spending a couple of weeks in Yellowstone NP in early February 2022 and know it's going to be colder than Portland, Oregon. I called Transolution to get some advice for winterizing my Volvo. Clearly incompetent mechanics failed to "fix" the oil leak and after "checking for idler and pulley wear and malfunction" those same parts literally were falling from my vehicle!?! All I needed was an oil change and some fluids and these guys ordered in the OEM parts I asked for and got me in and out within a week. Thinking about going here? Read the reviews. Our experience is not unique. What they do well: the work they do is quality and we have not had further issues with things they've fixed. What they don't do well: Scheduling, several times I made appointments and they needed to keep my car overnight(s) because they weren't prepared. Billing, they under quoted/overcharged for the work they did on multiple occasions. Ordering, more than once, they didn't get the needed parts prior to my appointment. Communication, they never let you know when the quoted price goes up, that surprise is left for when you pick up the car and it's too late to hold off on the repair. I quit going here a year ago, but my wife has continued to go for her vehicle. She went in for an oil change. We even had a coupon for a free oil change. (A peace offering from when they messed up one of my repairs.) Anyway, she made her appointment and stayed in the waiting room. They came out, as they do, to show her the air filters and ask if she wanted them to replace them. She said yes, knowing filters aren't terribly expensive and thinking this would be a good time, since the oil change was free. They finish, she goes up to pay, and the bill is over $200. Not the end of the world, but this is just an oil change. After the discount, it's still $160. In their defense, the filters are expensive, but they should have known that and my main issue is that they didn't make this clear. As an isolated incident, this is not the end of the world, but after their track record of this type of poor communication and under-quoting repair costs, we are looking elsewhere to get work done. Edit: After posting this, Chris (from Transolution) did call us and apologize for not knowing the prices ahead of payment. DON'T USE THEM! Nice at first ....but...I needed work done ...a U joint and transmission service. I was advised to drop my Jeep off. However, I was unable to get a ride. So, I decided to bring a book and wait. The desk guy informed me "I made it perfectly clear to you, that you needed to drop your Jeep off". I responded, It's fine, I'm able to wait. He responded, "no, you'll need to bring it back some other time". Then, I reminded him I had drove an hour to get there, and that I'm good with waiting. He said "I'm not putting my guys under that kind of pressure". I said there is no pressure, He walked away shaking his head is disgust, and got the owner to talk with me. He explained they didn't want me to wait bc it could take longer than expected if issues arise. I assured him, I brought a book and was good with waiting. Apparently they couldn't tolerate that. It thoroughly pissed me off. I had driven an hour on icy roads, to get my vehicle repaired, and waiting for it wasn't an option. I was totally prepared to wait all day. I brought my IPad and a book. The service guy at the desk was a snarky AH. Never...in my 65 year existence, have I ever ran into a business that resented having a customer wait in their waiting area. If it's ok for me to sit all day in the waiting are to wait...why isn't it ok with them? They had absolutely no regard for the fact I drove an hour in dangerous conditions. Very Expensive. PROS: Clean, friendly and efficient. However, it comes with a price, a very high price. My car was sounding terrible, turned out to be the water pump. Due to the high quote from Transolution I took my car to another shop. The quote was $1000.00 less (no typo!!)! The cost for the diagnosis at Transolution was 30% higher than all the other shops, which I reluctantly paid. Turned out that the work Transolution had said was needed, was not needed. Comparing the other actual work done on the car to the quote from Transolution, all were at least 25% higher. If you like paying more and paying for work that doesn't need to be done, this is your shop. I cannot comment on the work they do here, its quite possible they are top notch, I wasn't going to pay $1000 more to find out. I know the shop I went to was exemplary. read more

My 19 year old daughter's VW Beetle needed repair so we took it to Transolutions, as recommended by a friend. We received fantastic customer service from this shop. There was some miscommunication, and our bill ended up being about twice what we thought it was suppose to be ($1200 vs.$600). The owner, Chris, personally sat done with us, listened to us, and we listened to what he had to say. Then, we settled on an amount that was was very fair to us. As a first-time customer, I was apprehensive to go to a new shop. However, these guys are the real deal. They used factory-new parts, and took the time for my daughter to understand the real issues. They treated us with respect, and didn't try to "tech talk" us. Not only did my daughter say she will be back, I will bring my vehicle here as well. This past summer, I was making the cross-country trek from Washington DC to my new home in Portland, OR. I was packed in my 2002 VW Jetta with some of my belongings, my mother, and my dog. We had been driving for four days and arrived in the parking lot of our hotel in Missoula, eager for a beer and a meal to decompress after our 10 hour drive that day when suddenly, the car wouldn't shift into gear. Being that it was late on a Friday night, we waited until the following morning to have it towed to Transolutions. As we waited Saturday, we were expecting to be back on the road and en route to Seattle by mid-afternoon. When we received the unfortunate news that the transmission was done and seeing that we had to be in Seattle by 7 the following morning, we decided to leave the Jetta in the hands of the people at Transolutions (a GREAT decision). I had a commitment to be in British Columbia for work the next month and Transolutions agreed to replace the transmission while I was away, perfect considering that I didn't need need my car on my trip. They maintained great contact with me throughout the process and after my month-long business trip in BC was done, I arranged to fly into Missoula to pick my car up and finally finish the road trip to pdx. I was greeted at the airport by a Transolutions employee and taken to the shop where I got to thank them for their hard work and finish final paperwork. Fantastic service here! Our AC broke en route from Seattle to Yellowstone, and the local Honda dealership couldn't even give us an estimate of when they could look at it. We found Transolution on Yelp and decided to drop by. They were super friendly and took the car right in to look at. After diagnosing it and giving us an estimate, they kindly offered to shuttle us to the mall and back so that we'd have something to do while we waited. I have a 92 Class A motorhome. I took it to Transolution twice this last year. The first time, it was to check the brakes, do an oil change and a general checkup. I knew it needed some work, and I was thinking about $800 to $1000. Chris, the owner, called me and told me that the brakes on all four wheels needed attention, I needed new shocks, the transmission desperately needed cleaned, etc. etc. He quoted $3000 +. I told him I couldn't afford that much, so he discussed with me what needed done the most and the soonest, and we worked out a way to come in within my budget. Later in the year, I took it back to Transolution when the power steering unit went out. They replaced the unit and did the rest of the work that was identified earlier, replaced three of the tires, and still came in within my budget. I have the most respect for, and confidence in, mechanics who will work with a customer to meet their needs, make sure their vehicle is safe, and yet also respect their financial boundaries. Transolution meets this criteria. I'm moving out of state, but if I were to stay here, Transolution would be my regular mechanics for sure. read more

We purchased a 1990 Cadillac in Billings, MT and had to stop in Missoula due to issues with the car not running right. We stopped at several shops and they couldn't fit us in or couldn't help and we had a deadline to get to Portland, OR. The guys at Transolution were great. We have never had a better experience at a mechanic or auto repair shop. They were incredibly reasonable, friendly, went out of their way to help us and saved us by fitting us in when they were obviously busy. The location is a bit out of the way but the owner's sweet German Shepard, Champ, and beautiful horses nearby, and very nice and comfortable waiting room with wi-fi kept us entertained. I really fit the standard type of person putting my trust into someone who has more clue what their doing because Automotive care is not my thing. I can tell they are trustworthy and not out to rip you off. Katherine is polite and kind and went out herself with the tech to help find out what was going on with my car. I had continuous trouble with my Audi A6 starting for several weeks, and after trouble with Mountain Auto giving me the runaround for almost a week and charging me while never fixing the problem, I turned to Transolution. Not only did their mechanic come out and talk to me directly, but they were able to pinpoint the problem and my car was fixed the next day. The only reason there aren't the full 5 stars is that it was a little expensive. But well worth the money if you want a happy car :) Also... their customer service is unlike any I've ever experienced in the auto industry. The owner himself called me several days after I picked up my car to check if everything was running alright. Super friendly and I love visiting their shop dog Champ!! I am very upset about the cost to fix my truck and feel very taken advantage of. They claim to be the best and utilize the latest of technologies but at the end of the day, transolution charged $848.90 to change 8 spark plugs and spark plug boots! Oh, I guess you did the $207 BG Induction cleaner. Was that needed and related to the diagnostic outcome, for which they charged $111.44? Ultimately, they didn't explain what the hell a BG Induction is. They simply acted as though it must be done. Two more things I have to point out. I called their shop for the first time and specifically asked if they do free diagnostics, the receptionist said "yes", they'll read the codes for free. I then get a call that they'd have to look further into it. They call back with a list of needed repairs and state that about $480 would cover it. I explained that money is tight and I am aware of several of those needs and have done some and would address them in time. They were going to then rewrite a bid and call me back. They called me back at 2pm and the price jumped to $890 somehow. At 4pm they said it was done and I could come pick it up. Somehow They felt that $610 dollars in labor was fair. That's dishonest and unfair. Go somewhere else please. read more

Do not take your car here. I took in my Subaru for a transmission fluid change. Only that. They decided to "check things out". Which meant loosening the bolts on the engine cover and that messed with the gasket seal gasket . It was running great the day I took it in and after I picked it up it was leaking fluid everywhere- within a week it had stopped running and died. read more

First of all I don't like being lied to. I brought a vehicle in for a transmission service and expected only that. They called and said the service was completed and I paid the 139.99 and left. A few weeks later the transmission quit, took it to a different shop and was told it was never serviced. I went back to Translution, I proved they did not do the repair I was charged for. They gave my money back but only cared that they got caught and never even said sorry. I am not sure I am not the only person lied to by these crooks. Think I was screwed over. Took my van in to get the $19.99 Oil Change from a flyer I got in the mail, then they found my fan relay assembly "might" not be working. Ended up costing me more than $300 to get everything done. After looking up the cost of the relay online, they charged me more than double for the part (I expect mark up but not 200% of retail price). Then they charged me for the entire time my vehicle was in the garage - I paid for the time it took for the oil change twice plus the time waiting for the part to get there and installed. Then they told me to come back later to get more work done on my transmission. I think they overcharged me because I am younger looking and they thought I wouldn't question anything - despite young people being more likely to place online reviews. So in total, I think I overpaid ~$50 for the part and ~$70 in labor. In total I basically paid $310 for an oil change. ($120 of which was unnecessary) Summary: A good deal in the mail that seems too good to be true, is probably too good to be true. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! If I could give them a negative rating, I would. My truck overheated a few weeks ago and I had it towed to Transolution. It's an older truck, so things are starting to slip; however, Transolution verbally quoted me the cost of the "required" repairs then also "checked things out" and left that cost very open ended as it would require significant labor to figure our the problem. I was told that the fan clutch, thermostat, radiator and radiator hoses all "had" to be replaced in order to get the truck on the road. The verbally quoted cost for these four items was $1300. I was told by Transolution that there was a hole in the radiator as a result of the overheating, plus it made sense to replace the radiator hoses at the same time. I wasn't given a reason as to why the fan clutch needed to be replace. Come to find out the radiator operated as expected and the overheating caused the coolant in the radiator to exit out the radiator and into the coolant overflow, exactly what its supposed to do. There was absolutely no problem with the radiator, it was still holding pressure as intended. I called around and found two other shops that would replace those same four items for $600 - $700. Needless to say, I took the vehicle to a different shop and come to find out the repairs were actually quite minimal, the thermostat only needed to be replaced and the $1300 job ended up costing $100 and the truck is back on the road. The two main points of contention are (1) clearly they mark up their parts costs and (2) they tried to take advantage of the situation and try to replace "every possible cause" instead of truly diagnosing the situation. I ended up taking my truck to Honesty Automotive and they treated me right, did not take advantage of the situation, were very fair, informative and friendly. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO TRANSOLUTION. They will overcharge you and try to "replace" more than is necessary! It should be noted, I have taken this truck to Transolution before for a transmission replacement and it sickens me to think how much I overpaid for the work. read more
