I got brisket and bacon burnt ends, both smoky and crusty in the best way...but everyone was raving about the side and both my sister and I found them underwhelming. The baked beans-delicious and even better the next day, but everyone other side was a no go. The mashed potatoes while seasoned perfectly are a bit on the pasty consistency even with the skins being included. The coleslaw and deviled egg potato salad were HEAVY on the mustard, overwhelming so. This place cured my depression (kind of). I don't know how I haven't left a review since I talk about this restaurant to everyone I ever talk to. Seriously. Long story short I was not able to find any joy in life and was super down until I tried Wright's brisket and I decided that if there's really nothing else to live for, at least there's wright's brisket. Came here a little before 6pm on a Wednesday and the line wasn't too long. I got the three meat plate with fatty brisket, ribs, and bacon burnt ends. For sides I got the deviled egg potato salad and coleslaw. The place was large with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We were able to get seats inside no problem. The line got longer while we were eating. All the food was excellent, one of the best overall barbecue spots I've tried. Everything was flavorful, the meats were smokey, and didn't even need any sauce. I loved the deviled egg potato salad. I also got the frozen lemon drop, which was nice and refreshing. Had dinner here tonight. I had two meat plate (sausage and brisket) with potato salad and Mac and cheese. My partner had turkey sandwich with beans. Sausage was very good but brisket was excellent. Definitely one of the best bbq joints in the area. Came down from Joplin bc Joplin had zero good bbq places and our youngest wanted to try Wrights out for his 19th birthday. The Dino beef rib was the special and it wasn't cheap but oh man was it great. 1.5 pounds of meat well seasoned and cooked till it fell off the bone. Definitely should have shared it bc I was over stuffed. Potato salad was typical and the collard greens were delicious. Youngest got 1/2 rack of ribs and said it was seasoned really good and cooked to just slight pull to get a clean rib. The brisket him and his mom both said was smokey flavorful and very tender. The macaroni was mediocre he said at best but my wife said the baked beans were some of the best she's ever had. This place is definitely on the return often lost. I first got this take out a year ago and was nervous to come back. I'm happy to report that Wright's needs to be eaten in person 100% for sure. We spent about $90 for 3 people and it was a whole 2 meals for us! I will say the vibe is very eat and go, you order and then grab a seat. I think outdoors would be awesome in better weather. Dino Rib special for Saturday: 10/10 I'm a huge rib fan and was pleasantly surprised by the tenderness and seasoning on this Burnt ends: 10/10! I will say the portion for a plate with these is quite small. Brisket: 8/10 not the best I've had but still really great Pulled Pork: 5/10 a let down considering how good everything else was. This place is the bees knees! Great location, clean, fast service, friendly staff! I ordered a ton of food (I was indecisive as it all smelled and looked great; besides, leftovers can be just as good). All of the items were fresh, perfectly temped, and huge portion for the price! I'm not normally a baked beans fan but I must admit that these do not taste like they're out of a can!!! As a visitor to the area, the staff was super nice and always checked in to see if I needed anything and to also offer up random banter and offer input on local attractions to see. I hung out on the patio which had ample seating in lieu of sitting indoors (it was amazing weather). Wow! This is one of the coolest BBQ joints Ive ever been to. The place has a huge outside patio with the biggest TV you have ever seen to watch the big game. There are tons of tables inside and out. It is order at the counter, cafeteria style and they cut the meat right there in front of you. The guys are super nice during the ordering process. The star of the show is the food! Oh my, this is standout BBQ!! I got their Rocketman (chopped brisket of top of mashed potatoes/macncheese and candied bacon) and it was so good. We were greeted by a long line at 6:30 on a Tuesday night. A local in front of us said line lengths can be unpredictable, based on if there are events at the Walmart Amp, etc. It took about 30 minutes to get to the front. There's a huge covered patio with lots of shared tables and a giant screen playing various games, and then a smaller indoor dining area. On a warm October night, the patio was the more inviting, lively option. Service is friendly and efficient. The menu varies at times, so they have it written out on butcher paper. Just a heads up that meats can sell out as the night goes on. The smoked turkey was gone by the time we ordered, and a little after we left, bacon burnt ends were gone too. If you have any desire to try these, I'd order them first because they may be gone if you try again later. I was trying to figure out the best way to try three meats without the exorbitant size of the three meat plate, so I landed on the Rocketman with added Mac n cheese, which came with bacon burnt ends and brisket ($15), and adding the jalapeno cheddar sausage ($6). The Rocketman consists of a bed of peppery, creamy mashed potatoes, a layer of shells and cheese, and then a pile of fatty chopped brisket and 2 pieces of bacon burnt ends. As a caveat, I'm from California, and we have mostly meh BBQ. This was my first southern BBQ experience, and I can safely say I truly have not had real BBQ before. The brisket was perfectly juicy and fatty, and was full of smokey flavor that was enhanced by Wright's amazing sauces. I went hard on the Bold, which was similar to a Carolina Gold, and the Spicy, which had an actual kick to it. The bacon burnt ends were totally unlike any burnt ends I've ever had - instead of heavily glazed beef, these were tender, unsauced pork cuts that were intensely salty with a super rich bacon flavor. The sausage was also wonderful and really flavorful. I'm determined to come back at least once on this very short trip! read more
