I was close to tears and my eyes were welling up and the people who work here said they were a small business, there was no restroom. That's the kind of business they run, they don't care about the money. The workers here lack compassion - especially the guy who work by the cash registrar on the morning of January 4 , 2022. I like it mostly for the police blotter type stories which I find interesting and amusing unless it's a serious crime like assault and other felonies which I don't find interesting or amusing but makes me angry as hell. Good local paper to see what's going on in queens and upcoming events that's not usually advertised in local papers or news media outlets. 4.5 stars for good reading material while having breakfast in Astoria on Sundays .

I rate it four stars as local community newspapers as Queens Gazette is hard to local in small communities as Hollis Hills, Richmond Hill, or Ozone Park but residents need to flock to larger populated communities within Queens as Flushing, Forest Hills to obtain a copy of the Gazette. The Queens Gazette often announces events as the Saint Patrick's Day parade in Flushing and in The Rockaways. Queens, home to the 1964 and 1965 New York World's Fair, two airports, and Aqueduct Racetrack!

The place is clean and generally better maintained than some of the messy places that are only a block or two away. I tend to come by here every so often to pick up a lottery ticket and peruse the nice collection of magazines they have. Most mini stores in the area won't have such a diverse collection of reading material (newspapers, foreign mags, etc.) but the price they pay is a smaller inventory for things like food or toiletries of which they have very little. For some reason this place seems to be looming with traffic at all hours of the night. When their air conditioner isn't broken, it makes a world of difference in this place.

The three guys working here are consistently friendly and patient, even as they punch in numbers on…read morethe NYS Lottery machine while customers hold up bottles and candy bars asking "How much?" They seem to have as many items here as a full sized convenience store. They service Hunter College students, New York Hospital workers waiting at the bus stop and kids going to the Park East Synagogue School. It's next to the 6 Train subway exit. NYC newsstands don't get any better than this one. It's an interesting block as well, with at least two fruit/vegetable vendors, four Halal food carts (incongruously located outside an orthodox synagogue) and deep ruts in the blacktop roadway caused by the busses. The street by the bus stop undulates. They really should use concrete pavement at the bus stop. If you're reading this, you do realize I have time on my hands, and the newspaper headlines are too depressing to read. I'd rather acknowledge a well run and well merchandised newsstand.

This was my first time since Astoria Bookshop moved to this location. Conveniently located close to…read morethe 36th street subway. Came here specifically for Cary Gitter's interview/ chat with Amy Feltman about Cary Gitter's debut novel. I really like the layout of the shop, the way the books are displayed, the diverse offerings of holiday books for children, and the way they fit the folding chairs to attend the author event. Really nice staff and cute items sold in the front. Support local bookshops!
