Woohoo! That would be the word for it. I know at this point most people are looking to sell their cd collection and get back some of that investment while freeing up shelving units in their house. (Do you remember $17-$20 CDs at Tower Records? The Dude says you should! Movies are my absolute passion so it should be no surprise when I say my collection of DVD's was most likely in the 500-600 range. I know, it's a sickness and the first step to healing is acceptance. Now I have a Blu-Ray player, which I love. Which means buying my all old favorites over again in Blu-Ray format. But what to do with all those DVDs? IPODMEISTER!!! I read an article in the Daily News and once I learned they also take DVD's I was all aboard. Ding Ding! After calling to make sure they accept foreign films (I had a few anime movies) I counted everything pretty thoroughly, all the seasons and 2 disc special editions. I figured I had enough for the new iPhone 4 (unfortunately not enough for an iPad. Sigh) which was fine with me. My best friend just got one and I was insanely jealous. However he didnt get his for free. Ha. The next day I was emailed labels and detailed instructions on the whole process. Soon enough they were on their way to a warehouse in LIC. Once there, Im sure they were through some rigorous testing process...or not. They gave me a call to let me know they checked everything out and since I was a little over the amount I needed for the iPhone 4 32GB they would add extra to the payment I was receiving to cover the extra items. I s it time for you to sell your used CDs? P robably, seeing as how they're almost useless now O h, but you don't know what to do with them? D uh, you should take them to iPodmesiter! (Did you see what I did there? Clever no?) Clever poems aside, iPodmeister is a great place. I was able to take in my used CDs and get an iPad. A for real iPad. No tricks, no gimmicks. Of course you can trade your CDs for what you like, an new iPod, an iPhone 4, whatever. It started with an ultimatum. "GET THOSE CDS OUT OF THIS HOUSE OR THEY'RE TAKING YOUR SPACE IN BED!" Okay fine. These CDs had survived so many moves, decades and musical changes that it was strange to think of them not being there. But the wife had a point, They didnt have a point. In a household with 3 computers and 4 iPods, the CDs hadnt been touched in years. I read about iPodmeister from the Daily News and of course was intrigued considering my recent "conversation" with my better half. I called them, got the rundown including the instructions for the free shipping, and I was sold. I sent out my cartons of CDs by dropping them off at a FedEx. (I gave my favorites a spin for old times sake, I felt it was the proper send off.) Once they were gone, I had to wait about 3 days until they were received and 2 days to receive the results. This idea is a little crazy to me, but hey it seems to work. So iPodmeister takes used (and new if you have them) cds and trades them for i-lectronics, iPods, iPads, iPhones, etc. Hesitant? Yeah, me too. I managed to scrounge up around 300 cds from all over the house, garage, storage unit, under the bed, the junk drawer, behind the bookcase, etc. (Who'd have thought they could find so many places to hide?) and shipped them to iPodmeister on their dime. I was torn between the 16GB iPod Nano and the iPhone 4 16GB. In the end I decided that I already had a cell phone and didnt want to go through the hassle of a new contract. (I really wanted an iPad, but after exhausting all my cd options deicded it was out of the question.) So the iPod Nano it was. A couple days after shipping them I received a "confirmation" email from iPodmeister saying they receieved the items, checked them out and they were acceptable for the trade. My iPod was mailed right to my door after about a week, no waiting in line at the store, new in-the-box and all that jazz. All in all it was a pretty sweet deal. l learned of iPodmeister from an article in the New York Times so I figured at least there was someone to complain to if it went wrong! Luckily the experience with iPodmeister was problem free. I checked out the website, counted and packed up all my cds (I had about 850 just enough to get the new 32GB iPad) and e-mailed them my info and box information. Later that afternoon I had FREE shipping labels in my email that included the closest fedex location to me. Roughly 4 days after dropping them off at the FedEx, I received another email saying that they had gotten my cds and gone through them and I was okayed for the new iPad. Much much easier than trying to sell used CD's which we all know can, for lack of a better word, suck. At least Sisters of Mercy and Brian Eno get to go to new homes overseas where people will appreciate them too. I love my new iPad, but this isn't an iPad review, this is an iPodmeister review. So all in all the experience was very simple and easy. The communication was great and I never had to chase them down to ask what was going on with my order. I just wish I had more CD's to send in. I just used these guys this weekend to unload a bunch of cds I had. I run a service that does quite a bit of volume and sometimes people just leave me their old cds once they've been converted into digital format. So Im left with a lot of stuff I would never listen to or already own. I found out about iPodmeister through a friend of mine who's sister had used the service to get an iPhone 4 and was pretty happy with the service. I came by on Saturday and the girl working was very friendly. She had me fill out what I wanted and took my cds so she could go through them. I went around the corner for some lunch from this chicken place and within about 45 mintues got a call from the iPodmeister girl saying she had gone through the cds and there were a couple they couldn't take (too scratched) but I was eligible for the iPhone 4. as an older gent, moving to digital music was very difficult. frankly if i cant hold it in my hand I have a hard time believing it exists. but the folks at ipomeister had an excellent point. what was i really doing with all those cds anyway? ipodmeister in a nutshell trades your cds for ipods. no fuss no gimmicks, nada. when you're ready to free yourself of cluttered shelves, boxes and jewel cases you should give them a call. they also trade for ipads or the new iphone 4. i can barely figure out the ipod classic i got, so those were probably not a good option for me anyway. when i dropped off my cds i was sure it was going to be some sort of back alley operation, but the place was huge, well lit, people everywhere. the ladies took my cds and had me fill out some paperwork. easy as pie. ipodmeister is a brilliant idea and a quick solution for people drowning in archaic music formats. come on, you know your music is on your computer anyway! give it a try, you'll be glad when you unwrap that new device! read more

Thank the Good Lord for iPodmeister. Scambling for a gift for my son for his birthday while in the middle of fitting in moving expenses, credit card bills and student loans was giving me a migraine the size of Montana. iPodmeister saved me from a potentially embarrassing situation I am glad to report. I considered taking everything to an FYE ages ago, but it seemed like so much work with no guarantees. Plus at that point I wasn't hurting for the cash the way I am now. This is a great place to trade your used cds and dvds for an iPod. I recently dropped my stuff off at their warehouse in LIC and thought it could be really great for the holiday season ( I selfishly got one for myself but you can give yours as a gift.) They have a website that has all their information on it at http://ipodmeister.com, but my skeptical self was unwilling to just send my stuff out. The website does have all the tables and exchange rates, but they're happy to help when you call them too. When I got there the girl who helped me was super nice, Abby, and they got my stuff checked out pretty quickly. I got okayed for the iPod I wanted and then ended up picking it up later that week. I thought I would miss my cds but it turns out once they're on my iPod I barely know that their gone. Hope this helps someone! read more

Everybody needs an iPod. And (almost) everyone has a stack of cds that are not paying rent in their apartment. Enter iPodmeister stage left. Pretty nifty idea IMO, trading cds/dvds for iPods. I choose to use the service because I work nearby at Silvercup Studios and figured I could go drop them off on my lunch break. By the next day they had checked everything in and I was able to pick up my iPod. I suggested the service to a bunch of people at my work and they all joined in too. Nifty. I came across this business on CraigsList while I was trying to sell off my old and really random CD collection. I was just so sick of trying to get rid of my stuff after taking it to a couple music stores and posting ads online. SOO much time wasted. I mean I knew it'd be hard to sell CDs these days... but at least with ipod-meister I'm not throwing away CDs but recycling them. i wanted a new iPad and now i got one! ridiculous really how easy it was. i expected some kind of shenanigans but they were awesomely legit and upfront with everything. i brought about 700 cds (mostly a combination of mine and my mothers old disco collection) and within no time had an iPad. taking 700 cds on the f train was no mean feat but if i had another 700 i would totally do it again, it was so worth it. i would recommend going to their website first and you can check out everything they offer (it's pretty extensive) and read their conditions. if you have a bunch of cds and want a new i-gadget i would highly suggest checking them out. read more

I am a fan! Searching high and low for a place to unload by embarrassing 90's CD collection a friend recommended iPodmeister to me. Great people, answered all my questions on the phone before dropping off. I shed no tears for my lackluster taste in music and was glad to be rid of them in exchange for an iPod Nano. Beware if you are dropping off, there is almost no parking so make good use of the loading dock and try not to go at the end of the day, I made that mistake and there were trucks in both dock areas for half an hour.
