I'm not quite sure how a place with this many offerings keeps things fresh, but somehow Wu accomplishes it. I had never heard of this place before and so I did a little research. Apparently this is actually a family owned regional restaurant chain only in Chicago burbs and NW Indiana. Everyone at our table decided on something different and we all left satisfied. I was good, but it wasn't over the top exceptional. I did find it a bit pricey, but the portions are very large compared to what you typically get elsewhere. The hibachi is a giant portion of food that our whole table could have shared. I also noticed how great the beef tasted, this I will say was above average. I was a bit skeptical ordering the sushi but was pleasantly surprised at how fresh it tasted. It was also very well prepared and plated. I would say the food here a bit more heavily seasoned /salty than the average Japanese hibachi, but it still left us full and happy. We sat at the regular tables away from the hibachi and service was very attentive and polite. Tip: Plum wine to complete the meal! read more

Disappointed the waitress served the crab appetizer since the won ton wrapper was very well done and edges burnt. We refused it.,Yakatori was very overcooked and not very appetizing. Last night my family of four went to Wu's House in Orland Park, and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. We were seated in the regular dining area and ordered iced teas, which were fine. However, the service timing for our meals was very poor. Our food came out at completely different times. My husband received his meal first and started eating while the rest of us were still waiting. My daughter eventually received hers while the rest of the table still had no food. Unfortunately, the food quality was also extremely poor. My husband stopped eating his meal because it tasted bland and off. My daughter stopped halfway through her sushi because the temperature, texture, and flavor were strange. My son's shrimp sushi was dry and very chewy, and the tempura squid was tough and flavorless. My mother's tempura shrimp was also tough and lacked flavor, and the small amount of sauce did not help. My tempura chicken was crispy on the outside, but the chicken itself was extremely rubbery and difficult to cut or chew. It honestly felt like it had been fried from frozen or was very old. The tempura vegetables were also disappointing -- the broccoli pieces were so large that the batter inside was still wet. I also never received the miso soup or ginger salad that were part of my meal. The only items we actually enjoyed were the coconut shrimp and the seaweed salad. The cucumber salad was okay, but overall the vegetable prep across dishes was very rough and inconsistent. The server himself was kind and polite. However, the experience with the manager was extremely disappointing. We told our server we simply wanted to pay and leave and did not want to take any food home. We also told him we were not asking for anything removed from the bill. After we had already paid (in cash), the server mentioned he had spoken with the manager about the situation. We asked to speak to the manager because we wanted to show him the quality issues with the food that was still on the table. The manager was dismissive and rude. He immediately began making excuses and said the issues were our fault for ordering those items or for not sending them back. The reality is that nearly every dish at the table had problems, so we did not feel comfortable ordering anything else. He also claimed that the lack of flavor was because Japanese cuisine is not supposed to have flavor or salt. While we understand cuisine styles differ, that does not explain food being dry, rubbery, or extremely tough. We were not asking for a refund or any money off the check. We had already paid $246 and simply wanted to bring the quality issues to his attention. Instead of acknowledging the concerns or offering an apology, the manager remained dismissive and continued repeating that he could not take anything off the bill. To make matters worse, both my husband and my mother later became sick after the meal. Overall, the food quality, service timing, and management response made this a very disappointing experience. Great time with friends, and my other half. My Fiance and I had never been to Wu's house before so since my best friend knew we were visiting from out of state she decided this would be a good fit for us. We walked in we didn't have a reservation but it was only a small group so we went to sit down right away. The inside was nice, the decor was nice, the bathrooms were clean, and the service was decent. The only thing I had an issue with is when I ordered a drink it came out wrong two times and at that point, I decided I obviously didn't need it. Just when I had given up on the margarita, a manager stopped by and asked why I didn't want the drink. I explained to him I don't think the gentleman taking my order understands what I'm asking him. I told the manager I didn't want the drink anymore and he asked me what I wanted I told him and he said it was on the house. So since it was on the house I allowed the manager to make it and bring it out to me and I have to admit it was perfect. So with the great drinks, great service, good company, and the entertaining chef, the night was perfect. They have a huge parking lot but it got filled up pretty quickly, however, we found parking pretty quickly. I look forward to visiting again when we're in town again. We were hungry after a long day walking. 18k steps as of right now. So we've been at it! We love trying new sushi and hibachi places. It's a large restaurant with a large parking lot to match. It was actually pretty crowded when we got here (evening). Hibachi and chicken entrees are decently priced. The sushi is expensive, ~$18/ roll. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken with pineapple and white rice. The meal portion was huge. The taste was okay (probably due to the large amount of sugar). I feel like it's the equivalent of an americanized Chinese restaurant in a strip mall. The waitress mixed up the order at first, the food was subpar, and they charged an automatic 18% gratuity. On the receipt, they ask for an additional tip! I just can't recommend that you try this place. There's plenty of other places nearby. On the bright side, you do get a free candy sucker on the way out. read more

Good Food, But Management's Greed Ruined the Experience We visited Wu House in Orland Park with a group of nine--five adults and four young children (ages 5 to 1). The food was good, and the wait staff was kind and accommodating--they even sang Happy Birthday to my grandson, which we really appreciated. Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by disappointing and greedy management decisions. We ordered four hibachi meals, one guest ordered two large sushi rolls as their entrée, and each of the four children had their own fried rice. Despite this, management insisted we purchase an additional full meal, claiming that "the majority of the table must order a full entrée." This policy felt completely unreasonable, especially considering we were already ordering plenty of food for our group--including four paid meals just for the kids. To be clear--we weren't trying to cut corners. Our bill came to $250. We were simply expecting common sense and fair treatment. To make matters worse, the kitchen prepared more fried rice than needed. Instead of distributing the extra rice to the people eating, they placed it in two bowls and were going to throw it away. Only after I spoke up did they finally divide it evenly among the table. The food and wait staff were solid, but the management's rigid, profit-over-people approach ruined what should have been a special night. We will not be returning. read more

I'm not a fan of Wu's House. The service was subpar for an 18% gratuity and we didn't have cups for soy sauce and the table was dirty and I assumed the service was lacking due to it being crowded. We immediately went back to the host stand and expressed our concerns. Manager was rude and indicated that it was okay you can still eat at your pace, I said that was not the point and condescendingly looked disgusted at me and he told me "going to wait 15-20 minutes". We finally get sat with a new group being able to sit and enjoy our beverages and the waiter mistakenly grabs the wrong appetizer(which he promptly fixed). Hibachi Gus-Gus was nice but the manager definitely needs classes on guest management. Probably wont return but it was a good few years here. I've been to the evergreen park location so I already knew about the hibachi experience and wanted to try something different. We decided to be seated at a regular table and ordered some basic Chinese dishes. The food was excellent and flavorful and the portion sizes were HUGE! Service was ok.
