    Shrimp Hibachi Dinner
    Em K.

Hosted my birthday dinner at Sakura with 7 friends and it was such a fun experience! Our group was the perfect size for the hibachi table. It was interactive with the chef having everyone catch broccoli in their mouths and doing the fire show with a fun twist (see video). It was the first time most of us had done something like this since we were kids. The meal came with miso soup, salad, fried rice, noodles, and your choice of protein. I got the shrimp which was tasty and the serving sizes were huge, we all left with leftovers. The only downside was feeling a bit rushed on a Saturday night since they had tables waiting, so we had to wrap up pretty quickly. Despite that, it was a memorable birthday celebration and I'd go back for another special event!

Shrimp Kung Pao (xtra spicy) and my husband.

*5/5 stars* I literally just devoured the Shrimp Kung Pao at Sakura Teppanyaki & Sushi and quite honestly I'm still reeling from the flavor bomb! I opted for an extra spicy kick and boy, did it deliver. The portions are huge and the shrimp was cooked to perfection, the sauce had just the right balance of sweet, savory, and heat. I ordered a bowl of miso soup, which was rich and comforting. So delicious! Tonight was a bit slower, maybe because it was Thursday, but this site is usually busy! They have a lot of tables the ambiance and lighting makes it for the perfect date night experience. Service was top-notch too! This is my second time here and I can't wait to come back and try some of their other options. Highly recommend!

    Celebrating our anniversary!

To celebrate our wedding anniversary, we wanted to go to a teppanyaki restaurant. By walking around Diversey, we discovered Sakura Teppanyaki & Sushi. So glad we did! Chef Jun cooked our food using the teppanyaki style stove. I ordered the red snapper. The meal came with sautéed vegetables, vegetarian fried rice, miso soup, a side salad, a good portion of noodles cooked in soy sauce. The red snapper filet looked large. It took time for Chef Jun to cook it. The food tasted divine. It surprised me to see the restaurant using large sized shrimp. They tasted delicious. The red snapper had a juiciness to it. The portions took the whole experience to another level. Joseph ordered the steak and chicken teppanyaki. He said he liked the portions. Going to Sakura Teppanyaki brought back nice experiences of us living in Hawaii. We created new memories by coming to this place. This will not be our first time coming here. I liked the ambiance here. I felt relaxed and not rushed. The prices looked a little steep. However, the food, servers, and chef all made it worthwhile. Come to Sakura to celebrate your wins, and life milestones.

Great service and seriously generous portions of all the food items. The hibachi chef was very interactive and cooked everything beautifully (meats were always medium rare per our request). Aside from the grill items, we also ordered rolls and sashimi, both of which were very good. The salmon sashimi in particular was my favorite!

The presentation is great. They have fog and everything. The sushi was okay but I think they are more of hibachi place than a sushi place. They have a lot of verity of food.

This restaurant maintains a consistently bustling atmosphere whenever I pass by, so I'd strongly advise making reservations before your visit. Last Sunday, I arrived shortly after opening and was very lucky to get a seat. I ordered fried calamari, a sushi roll, and House Lemonade. The impressive portion sizes, featuring with a crispy golden exterior that gave way to remarkably fresh, plump squid meat. Each bite offered the perfect textural contrast between the satisfying crunch and the succulent calamari. I highly recommend the fried calamari! I will continue to order it next time I come!

Garlic Shrimp Scallop Hibachi Fried Rice Hibachi Noodle

Popped in on a Friday night and was seated right away. They do take reservations on Yelp. There are 4-5 hibachi tables and then regular seating. The sushi sampler and crab ragoon were good, nothing out of the world. Lychee martini was just ok, it wasn't very sweet but very strong and wasn't sure what other liquor was put in there but it was just ok. Hibachi plate comes with salad soap to start, pick your protein, I did garlic shrimp and scallops, and fried rice, veggies, and noodles. Salad was not great, most of my lettuce was brown-spoiled. The soup was just okay. Garlic shrimp said it had a sauce on it but it was like a thick garlic paste ontop, it was ok. Scallops were good and had a nice sear, not overcooked. Veg was cooked well. Noodles were a bit bland and overcooked. Rice was just ok as well, not a lot of flavor. Service started strong but took a long time to refill our drinks. Hibachi chef was fun and entertaining!

I'm a big fan of Teppanyaki and bookmarked Sakura while passing by in town. The pyrotechnics caught my eye. What more appealing the fresh cooked food made in front of you with a bit of a show. You get to experience the aromatics of each ingredient prepared with precision and a bit of acrobatics. From the second you enter the door it was a Joy to dine here, friendly hostess and great staff. Nice modern dining area with pretty art like a cherry blossom murals. They have their teppanyaki side with I think 6 hibachis, a standard dining side for sushi, and a full bar. Food was tasty and delicious. I had steak and chicken and she had red snapper. Perfectly cooked by our chef. Entertaining performance with fire, sake and smiles all around.

It was definitely smaller than other poke bowls I've had. It was also half lettuce. I would have preferred all sushi rice and maybe a pinch of lettuce on top for some extra flavors. I felt a little cheated out of my poke bowl. The tuna itself was really good. It tasted fresh and I enjoyed it. But given the size and make of the bowl, I wouldn't order this again. My coworker ordered a Bento Box and it appeared to be a much better value for your money. I'd probably go back for the sushi or maybe to try the bento box, but this wouldn't be my first choice amongst the options at the Mart.

I liked the wasabi Next came the lobster which looked great but again was not seasoned at all. It was breaded with nothing. All flavor came from the eh wasabi sauce. Asparagus sauce was cool. The most egregious dish. Was the wagyu was cold. So ridiculous. The rice was mushy and gross and flavorless. I swear to you they put truffle in every dish to seem fancy. Everything was truffle this truffle that. Truffle does not make up for lack of effort and flavor. Dessert was for. The lava cake was barely warm and did not gush when cut because it was not hot enough. PLEASE DO NOT ORDER THIS. Not worth it, very bad bland and what a horrible meal for $225.

We were craving uni and was slightly disappointed to hear they don't have it today... not sure if I heard correctly but I think they only serve it on Friday (?) So we were forced to try other things on the menu, which I was really glad I did. It was delicious!!! I'm completely obsessed with the wagyu maki. The wagyu was so tender and juicy. I also love a lot of their sushi nigiri's. I highly recommend the sushi signature set, which gives you 3pcs of white tuna, tuna, and salmon. The wasabi wasn't too strong and I felt it complimented the sushi. However the rice kept falling apart in the rolls and in the nigiri, which isn't a huge problem when everything else is 10/10 This place is on the pricier side but not going to break the bank if you want fresh sushi. I think since they didn't use white sushi rice, it fell apart easily. The salmon nigiri looked so good but wasn't as smooth as I hoped but not horrible. The scallop was the best bite of the night- so smooth and fresh. Edamame again was just ok, didn't taste too much truffle but I'm glad it wasn't overcooked and still had a good bite. In total, 1 appetizer, 2 speciality rolls, 4 pieces of nigiri, the sandwich and a Diet Coke was about $50 between 2 people which isn't bad. We were both pretty full and satisfied.
