This is a quaint resort in the heart of the Catskills. We stayed for two nights. They have several buildings to choose from for accommodations depending on whether you want a view of the mountains or the surrounding grounds. We opted for a mountain view in the Evergreen building, which was stunning. Our room had a porch with wooden chairs that overlooked the golf course. The entrance also offered a peek of the creek on the other side of the building. Many of the guests were families with kids. The resort charges a fee, which gives you access to their plethora of activities on site including oak barrel saunas, pickle ball, e-bikes, hammocks, a wooden swing, and more. They also offer various classes and guided workshops such as tye dying, book folding, and cocktail making. They had a magic show and live music as well. S'mores kits could be purchased for $15 for two people. Our room was clean, with a modern bathroom. The shower got very, very hot. The thermostat worked well. They have a restaurant on site. The bakery served pastries, hot breakfast, and drinks in the morning. Reservations were recommended for dinner. Overall, it was perfect for a quiet weekend getaway. read more

Had a lovely time here with my group. All staff were nice and helpful. Made everyone feel welcomed and even provided helpful information. Loved that there is a bar/restaurant and cafe onsite. When not open, can walk or check out a bike to ride down the street to a coffee shop that also has food. Rooms are comfy. I found the bed very comfortable and recommend any room with a balcony. Aa others have mentioned there is no cable TV. You'll need to "cast" your own television app to the TV. I also missed having a coffee maker. Great location to other nearby towns and Windham Mountain. I wish I had filtered these reviews better, before spending almost $1,000 on three nights at what's essentially a motel with a pickleball court and two barrel saunas. I'll start with the good - the staff was great. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The grounds were beautiful. Everything else was genuinely rough. The place was filthy! This is the one time I forgot my hotel slippers, and the floor in our room felt like walking on sawdust. I swiped the floor with a baby wipe and the result was disgusting. We stepped on an endless amount of things from previous guests - earring backs, dog kibble, random sharp shards of plastic, A PILL. We were traveling with our toddler so that was totally unacceptable. There were cobwebs behind our nightstand and on the cloth headboard. Lots of spiders and massive carpenter ants in the room. My allergies were terrible because this is a dog friendly hotel (we love dogs!), and there was definitely dog hair all over the room. If we weren't traveling with my in-laws who drove almost 9 hours to meet us from Canada, we would have left early. The rooms were bare (no dresser or fridge), and SO NOISY! We heard people thrashing up and down the hallway stairs all night, and heard every step from the people upstairs. You don't charge $300 a night (upwards of $500+ a night on fall weekends!) for that experience. That's just outrageous. The resort basically shut down come Sunday night. Nowhere to get snacks, ice or even a bottle of water. Monday morning was completely deserted - again, wild to charge a resort fee on days when there's literally nothing to do, and nowhere to even get coffee. Coming from Brooklyn, Wylder felt like Fort Greene was transported to the mountains. Way overpriced and full of people who are willing to pay for a few Instagram photo ops, regardless of actual quality. I wanted to love this place, but sadly it was a bust! read more

Came here for a relaxing weekend vacation with my girlfriend and it all started off great but the hotel charged us a bunch of bogus charges. The staff and manager seemed nice on the surface but they are very incompetent and acted like they didn't know what was going on. They couldn't find the charges and the card that was put on file. Quick to charge us but it's a problem to refund the money back. What a huge inconvenience and extra headache. Totally opposite of why we came here in the first place. Everyone looking to stay here please be wary and keep an eye on what they charge you. Safe to say we will never be coming back here. read more

I guess I'll be the first to review this hotel so buckle your seat belt, here we go. After some business and dinner in Windham we decided to stay overnight but there seems to be no availability in any hotels. If you read my previous review you'll know the sweet waitress recommended this hotel, and they have rooms available. It's a very new hotel and not 100% open yet. So let's get this out of the way. They have a heated swimming pool. Some fire pits, and some other amenities which although we heard about did not see. Here for a room which is supposed to have a balcony. The cost $368 per night. They will tell you $308 but they have to collect all taxes and extras. Feed that BS to someone else. The room is $368. Period. We check in and a very nice and very young man helps us. He even offers to take us to our room. There are a few buildings so it's about a three minute walk. The room, pretty small but a king bed. Now the problems... No refrigerator, no microwave, no telephone. Oh they have a TV but no TV service. To watch TV you must have your own personal service that you can cast to their TV. I have no idea how to do this but Mrs.E is pretty good so we log into our U Tube TV account. Message says we have to pay. What!!! I get y to he manager to come to the room to fix it. He can't. Doesn't know why it's doing this but he has no idea how to fix it. $368. Balcony is really a patio looking at the neighbors driveway. Bathroom, so so, but the window doesn't lock. That's right you can open from the inside and outside. I guess a burglar or murderer is welcome in this room. $368 . Next, a cheap through the wall AC/heater. Every 10 minutes it comes on and sounds like a freight train coming through the room. $368. Along with this AC unit I hear people waking through the hall and talking all night. At one point I hinted to the front desk that just maybe they would consider a discount on the $368 room. HaHa. We leave at 8:00, have breakfast down the street and head home. At 11:45 they call me to remind me that check out is 11:00. I say I didn't know I had to tell you I was leaving, typical it's automatic check out. Yes you really don't have to tell the front desk that you are checking out she tells me. So why are you calling me? This is my experience maybe yours might be different but some of the things I mentioned need major changes to fix. I'm sure they'll be fine especially with ski season approaching when hotel rooms are worth their weight in gold. Not for me. read more

I disagree with the first reviewer, Michael, by far. The pricing of the resort for sure isn't cheap, but I challenge you to find all the amenities they offer plus a place to stay and the kind staff they have all totaling less. I believe you're paying for convenience too-I imagine after a long day of skiing this would be as wonderful as it was in the fall. Some downsides: while there is Babblers restaurant on the property, there isnt room service- fortunately we were able to coordinate that with one of the hotel staff so it ended up work that out. We also had selected a room with a balcony, but the balcony didn't have any chairs or anything on it so while it was a nice view there wasn't really an opportunity to sit out there and enjoy. Other balconies had Adirondack chairs but I guess we just were the ones who didnt get them. Additionally, there is an ipad that seems to offer different services, but the services I ordered throughout the day (towels, room cleaning at a certain time) didn't end up happening until I called the front desk (which really is the best way to coordinate everything since they're so accommodating). The good (and there is a LOT of good): the saunas were lovely and never a wait to book them or use them. The heated pool was empty both times I used it both at night and in the morning. It was a large pool and perfect for the season- the resort was private, we barely ran into anyone else on the grounds unless we went to the main house or restaurant/bakery. The bakery was great! Got an oat latte both days and an avocado toast which was amazing. The restaurant was nice too although we never ate in it we got some food delivered and it was satisfying and good portions. There were hammocks and fire pits that were set up you could just enjoy and you could sit by the creek for a relaxing time. Yoga was saturday morning and all of these amenities were included for for the price of the the stay. The instructor was excellent. Apparently when its warm yoga is outside too! Would have loved that. The rooms were nice safe. I also loved that there were bathrooms in the main area of the building too so you didn't have to use the room's bathroom if you had to... go #2... honestly something every hotel needs. We took the e-bikes out to a gravel trail nearby which was super fun and EXCELLENT hiking trails were just a 15 minute drive. You don't need to leave the premises if you dont want to- they have everything you need and you feel very welcome the entire time. read more

I really wanted to give more stars, but sadly, our stay was a C- at best. We went mid-week hoping for more attentive service, but upon arrival, we were placed in a room different from the one we had booked. The staff promised they were "working on cleaning" the correct room, but when we moved, it turned out to be yet another wrong room!!! At that point, with a baby in tow who had already had enough, we just decided to return to the previous room. That said, the property itself is beautiful with all the potential for a wonderful stay. However, given that they boast "Travel & Leisure's Top Resort in NY State" in their Instagram bio, my expectations were higher. I honestly don't know who was paid off, but they're far from #1. Come on, Travel & Leisure - get it together. I was particularly excited about the sauna, but it barely reached 50 degrees and never warmed up properly despite notifying the staff three times. Three. Then, we went to the outdoor pool, which was advertised as being heated to 84 degrees--it was more like 65 degrees, if that. Couldn't get in! So there you go, two biggest advertised amenities (which by the way are on your bill with an amenity fee) down the drain! The restaurant was nice, though it's only open from Wednesday onwards, so keep that in mind. And yes, the views were stunning. But overall, I feel like if the staff had paid more attention to detail and genuinely cared about ensuring all guests had a great experience, our stay could have been much better. Honestly they're full of sh*t and everyone looks exactly the same, no diversity whatsoever (within the staff or the guests) and not sure if that had anything to do with our stay being extra laissez faire. read more

We stayed at the Wylder Hotel last weekend, and it's a beautiful place. We had a lovely, upscale room with great views. There is plenty to do, the desk staff so helpful, especially Joe, and we ate at Babblers -- good food, good prices, live music, a little loud and our waitress Katie was super. The bakery was wonderful, and their coffee is really good. I will agree with one review that the heat/air conditioning was a little loud and went on/off frequently, but from someone who lives on a busy street that's not a huge problem. A quick 2 hour drive through beautiful country. I didn't mind the resort fee as someone else said, it's a resort! There is something for everyone! We had a wonderful time. I was a little disappointed in how our reservation was handled, and in retrospect that more or less colored my stay when we left. We initially had booked in August for a stay in early November for my birthday, and their policy is that the reservation is paid in full when you make it. But that week I got sick and had to cancel. Because I had not called 2 weeks in advance I was told that I would lose my "deposit" unless I rebooked within 6 months. I didn't question it. Because we were heading into holiday season, I rebooked for February. I was told that would be ski season, so an additional charge was added. Hard as it is to believe, that week we had a death in the immediate family and I had to rebook again. So now we finally settled on April, still within 6 months but essentially the begining of "mud season" -- which was still lovely for hiking -- but the room rate, if we had booked at that point, was much less. Even so, I paid at the high season rate. Sort of like paying full price for a Broadway ticket and sitting next to someone who got theirs at TKTS and gleefully tells you how little they paid. I questioned it at the desk, and again with a follow up phone call. At that time I was told if I had opened an account, they would have saved the money, and I could have rebooked whenever, but that was never told to me. Or perhaps I just wasn't pushy enough, or perhaps I should have asked to speak to a manager -- it did seem to me that what wants to be a high end place should have had some kind of user-friendlier way to deal with a problem like this because honestly, I was having my own set of problems to deal with. So ultimately, my advice would be to enjoy your time there, be aware of how helpful the staff will be in pointing out local sites (thanks again, Joe), sit by the fireplace and have a drink, walk the Windham Path, sit on your balcony and look at the mountains, swim in the pool and savor the time away from your real life. But also understand the reservation policies. read more

We had such a nice weekend here. They are newly opened so some things are in flux I think, but super responsive staff and management. Great food and drinks. Cozy fire place. The room was nice, spacious, great view of the mountain. Fun fall vibes and activities, even for kids (my kids did tie dye and s'mores, played in the game room and took a quick cold dip in the pool). Was so nice to stroll around outside, play in the creek, lay in a hammock; could walk to windham path which is GORGEOUS and an easy scenic walk. Also can walk to a little drug store and a nice cafe/breakfast spot, and east wind hotel which has a good restaurant too. You actually can walk to town in 15 mins or so. Reasonably priced. All around such a nice new weekend spot. read more

We stayed for three nights during a ski weekend. Nice, new hotel and a super convenient location to Wyndham Mountain. The rooms are smallish but comfy. Modern bathrooms and quality bath products as well as plush robes. This hotel is on the expensive side so the clientele is sophisticated and the expectations are higher. Those expectations are met with the charming lobby and the family friendly rec room with lots of games and places to gather and relax. The restaurant/bar is also great. The bartender was a fab mixologist making elaborate cocktails. And the food we had was top notch Where they still need work is the little things. Housekeeping: still hadn't come when we returned from skiing at 3pm. We went to the front desk and asked for service. Sat in the lobby for an hour and then went back to our room which was still untouched. The staff was at first insistent that they had come, But then apologized profusely when they realized we were right. It wasn't a huge deal, but even after service, they only stocked one new towel and left all the dirty glasses. Other small things include tvs with no service other than you're own personal streaming and an in-room iPad that seemed to be not functional. At least we couldn't get ours to do anything helpful. All in all- this is a hipster paradise and a great family getaway with lots of amenities and programming. We would definitely stay again. read more

This hotel has the makings of a great place but none of the substance. The front desk staff was unhelpful and rude. There's NO housekeeping; you must request your room to be cleaned. We did twice both days and nobody came. It's a well branded motel. We stayed there for a wedding and they wouldn't put our friends and our rooms in the same building; said they were sold out; then their AC broke and it's clear they lied before and were able to put them in our building. Our room was twice the price of every other guest staying there because of the wedding room block. read more

We called five times in advance when booking and prior to arrival to make sure our room would be in a quiet place, on a high floor. When we arrived we were on the bottom floor overlooking the communal fire pit, with picnic tables lined up in front of our room. The upstairs guest sounded like they were in our room with us, and we could hear them speaking like they were by our side. We couldn't open the window for air because we had no privacy and the AC was blowing on my husband because it is next to the bed, so we couldn't leave it on. The staff were incredibly rude when we asked to move even when before we unpacked, and told us we were not on the bottom floor even though we were. One person tried to help but the other wouldn't let her. So rude. Major attitude problem. Do not believe that they will honor your request. They will not. Don't come. For $500/night - we should get our money back. Not one attempt to try and help or move us. read more
