Weekend getaway with the family for a certain someone's milestone birthday (let's just say AARP's magazine just arrived in my mailbox, which is pretty depressing!) so we wanted to find something affordable that was also within spitting distance of some of the activities we had lined up. And that's how we stumbled upon Catskills Season Inn. The area: just stunning wherever you look. The Inn is divided into two completely separate halves - Rooms 1-8 (where we stayed) is part of the main building, and the 'chalet' (fancy!) was a bit yonder (with tennis courts and a basketball court between us). The room itself: good, a facelift all around (paint, fix that wacky shower-knob-system, etc.) wouldn't hurt, but it did the job and we didn't really stay in there too long, of course. (And there's a communal mini-fridge for everyone to use and for the few days we were there - someone had a big bag of food that took up most of the fridge, which was selfish and impeded on what we could do/use.) Lots of outdoor space (picnic tables and I think you could grill if that's your thing, a swimming pool that was open but it was a bit too nippy when we were there, and a fire-pit which we took advantage of). The bar and surrounding lounge/room looked brand-spanking new and the pool table was great (including pool cues that aren't warped at all - that's rare, trust me). We had their continental breakfast one morning... pretty basic but it did the trick (well, one gripe: they offered a nice selection of tea bags/flavors but we never did see any hot water and no one was around to ask for assistance). Special shout-out to Ethan - he's a one-man-army - he's behind the bar, he's loading up the fire-pit, he's dropping off towels to your room, he's an absolute beast and one of the nicest innkeepers we ever encountered, without a doubt. We would be repeat customers, for sure.

    A welcome entrance!

I just stayed here this past weekend for a hiking getaway with my girlfriend. I found the Inn in very good condition. The room we had in the chalet had a kitchenette but there was a continental breakfast served each morning over in the other building. The room was clean and comfortable with nice chairs to sit in after a day of hiking. We cooled off in the pool and then spent the evening in the Pub and by the firepit. The staff was very friendly. The Pub had a pool table where we had some local beers and met some other hikers who had the same idea as we did. Will definitely be back as this place was reasonably priced with a great location and a good place to wind down after being out all day.

Where do I even begin... I originally booked this hotel because Hotels.com stated that they were pet friendly and offered free breakfast- this is important because there is no cell service or stores for at least 20-30 minutes in any direction ...They moved us to the chalet- main building does not allow pets but the chalet does. The reassured me that the rooms in the chalet were the same set up. Check- in was really easy. Catskills season inn sent us the keypad access before arrival. When we got there, it was almost 7PM because of all the traffic- the office was not open, not staff around. Later that night, when my husband and I were ready to turn in, we saw multiple stains on the sheets. We uncovered the sheets to check for bugs, we noticed little blood stains all over the mattress cover. The fun doesn't stop there. Because of the stains, my husband and I did not feel comfortable sleeping in the bed. We couldn't sleep on the floor either because there dead bugs everywhere. We decided to sleep on top of all the sheets and blanket- cant begin to tell you how uncomfortable it was. The next morning, we wanted to speak to the front desk- ask for a vacuum and maybe even switch rooms. We checked and checked and finally called the number that was provided in the main building including the hotel number from google. It's been about 24 hours now and still no call back. I even called Hotels.com to reach them and still could not get a hold of anyone. Now, like I mentioned in the beginning- they offered free breakfast- facilities were not open, we checked out Sunday and still no staff around, office closed- we were not made aware that there will be zero help on site during our visit. They left us some expired orange juice in the room. I hope this will get Catskills seasons Inn's attention and maybe finally respond to us. I do not recommend staying here.

My Dad stayed here for two nights and loved it! The rooms are big and comfy. the kitchen had a set up for him to cook his own meal and make coffee from a Keurig that was in the room. perfect for anyone looking to stay either one night or more. The pool was so clear and they have blow up pool items for you to use. James was the best! he was so sweet and filled us in on everything. Super helpful! I live down the road but if i need to get away i will definitely come stay myself. my dad will be staying here when he comes up and i can't wait to enjoy the food and sit outside at the fire pit ( definitely getting the s'mores) I have heard nothing but great things about the breakfast! Thank you! Beautiful property!

We had stayed at the Catskills Season Inn and we stayed a few places in Catskills in the past so we seen it all. To our amazement, the premise is very clean and our room is nice and cozy. The beds were very firm and the bathroom and overall space were top notch clean. If I have to list two complaints, it would be that the standing shower section is way too tiny and there should be quiet time observed in the communal room late in the evenings for when people sleep. Maybe put a sign up or something. But other than that, we were very satisfied and the cleaning staffs were wonderful. We had dinner at the restaurant downstairs on a Thur evening and I took advantage of their Thur special which is a selective entree, salad, and coffee or tea for $18.50. I had the skirt steak cooked to medium rare perfection. Quite scrumptious. My wife got the a la carte seared scallops with rice and vegy. She too finished her portion. My son got the pasta with meatballs which was a generous portion. To top off, my son had the warm lava cake with raspberry sauce. I showed them my Yelp 1 free draft beer. While they had to check with the owner maybe because they no longer participate in it, they still honor it and gave it to me. Our waitress didn't really make small talks with us but oh well. We still enjoyed her service and checking in on us. We definitely recommend the inn for stay and restaurant for food.

I have known this resort for over 50 years. I have seen it change hands too many times. I keep coming back despite some stays better then others. However, my latest stay was the best in years. David the new owner seems to have ideas to bring this beautiful property to its glory days! The Catskill Mts will become the destination it once was and more...

From start to finish it was truly a wonderful experience. Absolutely a night of classic elegance and decadent food. We arrived 30 minutes before our reservation to sit at the bar and have a pre-dinner cocktail. We each had an old fashioned, which were excellently made by the very friendly bartender. The bar area was small and intimate with small side areas with high top tables, couches and armchairs. We could have happily spent all night in this area. We were later seated in the restaurant area and had another round of drinks, an appetizer (roasted pork terrine) and two entrees (chicken Milanese and the lamb shoulder ragu). Each dish was rich and flavorful. Great food, great service, beautiful building and grounds. Easy 5 start review.

For starters we had their incredible house-made Parker house rolls with cultured butter garnished with salt and thyme. They came ripping hot out of the oven with the perfect flaky texture. We were particularly pleased with the dumplings which were accompanied by tender baby hakurei turnips. We split the Wagyu burger with crispy, pressed fries for our entree. The burger was juicy and topped with caramelized onions and tangy thousand island sauce. Dessert was a spectacular sticky toffee pudding which was perhaps the best sticky toffee pudding we've ever had. It was generously portioned and swimming in toffee sauce. We had an awesome meal here and Shandaken Inn has quickly risen to one of our favorite restaurants in the Catskills

Noteworthy is the efforts they've taken refreshing and coordinating the exterior paint colors and garden furniture. A discerning eye will note the efforts to maintain a thematic exterior color coordination across all the units. The grounds are well maintained with a vast array of natural plantings, specimen trees, indiginous plants, which if you are a garden buff, you'll really appreciate the variety, quality and passion that went into these wonderful presentations. The rooms are simple, clean, with a vintage vibe authentic to a Catskills cottage experience. There is a large communal yard with a fire pit, volleyball net, hammocks and seating as well as several new Weber grills and picnic tables. Easy to congregate or just hangout by your cottage or on your porch. The Esopus Creek is a short walk across the property on the other side of the street. Best is the continental breakfast!!!! Fresh baked goodies, fruits, yogurts, coffees, bagels and various snacks. Grab a morning tray and sit out back as the morning greets you, you are transported to a natural relaxing environment. We arrived at a mildew-covered "Cabin" 7 (a garage extension) and a dead rotting snake on our doorstep; it smelled DISGUSTING. Rose, the manager came when I asked her to remove it and threw it over maybe 3ft, we smelled it the whole time until we had to move it ourselves. The inside of Cabin 7 is covered in black mold, and in the living room, kitchen, and bedrooms, it smelled so bad that we got out our air fresheners from the car and wound up having to leave, which was so sad because we were in town for a wedding we had been looking forward to for months with nowhere else to stay. I wish I read the reviews before the book, as I 100% would have gone somewhere else. My family had rodents in their cabin 4 and open bags of peanuts and snacks everywhere. They obviously didn't clean ANY of the cabins; who leaves open snacks in a rural cabin? There was no cleaning crew on site the 3 days and two nights we were there, only Rose, the sole employee, running around like a chicken with her head cut off. None of the lights in Cabin 5 worked for my dad, and he was left in a musty, old, dark cabin. Hmmm, what else, there were cigarette butts in all of the dilapidated grills, construction and rock piles everywhere, huge holds in the road. Out of every window and every view was ugly construction equipment. No groundskeeping was done, weeds were overrun with poison ivy all over our deck, and we couldn't even go outside. A slimy green-colored pool infested with frogs. Oh and NONE of the lights worked or electrical sockets worked in two of the cabins, we had to use our flashlights on our phones. The whole place has spotty bad electricity, so whatever you want to plug in would fall out of the wall! The SADDEST part?! We paid $504 for TWO nights and were not told of 1. Construction is everywhere. 2. The pool was not open (as if anyone would dare to go in it) in the middle of June perfect warm weather. Rose refused to offer us any sort of refund for the fact we wound up leaving it was so gross. She said it's policy to report stuff on site, not after, even though she was nowhere to be found and didn't answer any calls or texts from me or any of my family. Rose was so incredibly rude and told me I lied about the mold, which I have pictures of. Ruined what could have been a nice family weekend and risked my health and safety. Oh, I forgot to mention. I paid half upon booking, and the other half was to be paid upon checkout. We hadn't even put our bags down before I got a notification that my card had been charged the balance. I would have never stayed OR paid the balance if I had a choice after I saw our "cabin" (a garage attachment). When I asked Rose for a refund, she stated all complaints were to be made during the stay, which no one responded to. This is a money-making machine, and they do not care about the area, grounds, or you.

First the good: the property is gorgeous. Nestled on the side of the eponymous hill in the village of Pine Hill, NY. It features several cabins and two vintage airstream trailers, a central green space with a fire pit, a communal lodge and an outdoor hot tub. It's a five minute drive to Belleayre Mountain and a five minute walk down the hill to the downtown area of Pine Hill with a few restaurants. True rustic Catskills coziness. My girlfriend and I stayed for two nights during a weekend in February when everything was buried under a foot of snow. A gentleman named Matty found us as soon as we drove in and was incredibly friendly, but that was the last of any employees we saw during the weekend. To the bad: I would not recommend cabin 8. It's a single room with bathroom and shower (no bathtub) at 175 total square feet. My girlfriend and I are not big people and don't mind a small room, but maybe just not for a weekend of skiing/snowboarding as we discovered. With so much equipment and barely any space to put it all save for one bench and a few wall hooks, it's just not ideal. The water pressure in the shower was depressing, especially after a full day on the slopes. At one point in my shower it slowed to a dismal trickle, presumably affected by the sinks/showers in the rooms next door. Cabin 8 has neighbors on nearly all sides. We shared an entrance with those in cabin 7 and could hear them clomping in and out in the evenings/mornings, and could hear them easily through the walls even though they were talking at a reasonable volume. We were bummed that the hot tub was closed all weekend as that had been one of the big draws for us in the first place - the possibility of relaxing after skiing all day. The temperature dropped to -15°F in the night so we understand why it was closed. A fire was set up on Friday night, but the fire pit was too big and the fire too small to make sitting in the chairs comfortable. We had to stand in the fire pit itself two inches from the fire to stay warm. Eventually we got tired of standing and went back to our room. The lodge is definitely nice with its pool and foosball tables. The website mentions an air hockey table, but this was not in the lodge when we visited. A sign on the lodge advertised croissants, bagels and coffee for sale on Sunday between 8 and 11, but when we stopped in at 10:30 the whole place was empty with the lights off. We never did get to see the gift shop as it was closed all weekend. So... not terrible. But at $398 for the two nights, I just don't feel like we got our money's worth. We love the Catskills and might give the place another try if we come back to do some hiking in warmer weather.
