    UPDATED MENU

KOBE hotpot is my new favorite place, we've visited three times this week. They recently updated to ONLY serve hotpot. They still have the same drink selection. It's a 90 minute all you can eat, you choose your broths and meat, serve yourself sauces, veggies and sides at the buffet and then cook it all at your table. The staff is attentive and will explain if you need a rundown. The restaurant itself is clean and spacious.

The food came out quickly and was beautifully presented in individual pots with a small flame underneath, such a unique and fun touch! The ramen and broth were both rich and flavorful. The restaurant is clean, spacious, and the staff are very friendly. The only thing that could make it even better would be adding more side ingredients like eggs, bamboo shoots, or meat. It felt like there wasn't quite enough of the smaller toppings compared to the noodles and soup.

The ramen was the the best I've had on the north side. I loved the presentation and anime playing in the background. We will be back.

So my son and I are in the area for the Arizona Cup this weekend and so I am attempting to broaden his palette so we stopped in to experiment with a Hot pot style restaurant. I ate at several of these last year when I was in Japan but there I had a guide/interpreter to guide me. We opted not to attempt the hot pot on first solo trip and opted for the ramen bowls. I had the Tonkotsu with steak and rice noodles and he had the Miso with steak and ramen noodles. Both were delicious and a lot of fun. We finished it off with mochi which was delicious also. Service was absolutely amazing as the waiter walked us patiently through the process as we made our choices. My son was very indecisive as this was his first go at hot pots. Fun experience and when in the area we will try again.

Got here on a Sunday night at 8:30pm. They close at 9pm so they were only offering to go orders. We ordered the Tonkotsu ramen, 2 Black Garlic Ramen, Crispy Gyoza, Lemon Grass Fish Cake, Fried tofu, and Edamame. Had high hopes, but did not enjoy any of the ramen options. Broth had little flavor and the pork chashu was unimpressive. Hate that I wrote that. The other dishes were decent, but won't be enough to get us to return. Service was good so I bumped the rating up. Hopefully, things improve in the future.

Standard table with hot plate- VERY clean restaurant with VERY fresh food and great service!

So my son and I decided to stop in for our "Men's night out" dinner- and we were quite impressed! The restaurants first impression after walking in is VERY CLEAN!! We were welcomed quickly and escorted to our table. The Service is awesome, pleasant and welcoming. The menu options are plentiful and we decided on the Hot Pot option with a plentiful variety to choose from and did not regret! Everything was FRESH, vegetables and meat options alike! The water that is served is fresh cucumber water, which is rare to find and delicious. We opted for Soft Drinks, which was served in bottles. The portions were very generous and we really enjoyed cooking the items in our own Miso Soup pot! My son had a great time trying new things and ate more than I thought he would, being he is typically a picky eater! I remember we went in as a family once several years ago- but it must have been different owners. We hadn't been back since, but are glad we gave it another chance! Highly recommended, GREAT food and service! Regular menu items for those who don't want the fuss of cooking their own food or doing the hot plate option- the choice and options are plenty!

It's not bad but it's the definition of a mediocre restaurant. You can kinda get a hint of the soup flavor when you take the first bite, and it's all feels like powered soup after that. The ramen noodles have an okay texture. The protein was fine at best, and the garnishes did not add any complexity to the soup nor did they individually have a distinct taste. The worst part about the place is the price. $18 before tax is a price point generally commanded by the best ramen houses in downtown LA. The food here feels and tastes like it was made by a college student that was trying to impress a room mate.

My apologies to Kevin and his staff for this long-overdue review…read more I have been dining at Nami for quite some time, and every visit has been a wonderful experience. Kevin consistently greets me with genuine courtesy and warmth, and his staff always takes excellent care of me, my family, and the guests I have introduced to the restaurant. The food I have had has consistently been of high quality. As someone of Asian heritage who has traveled extensively throughout Asia, I feel confident saying that Nami's cuisine is both delicious and impressively authentic. I have also never been disappointed by the quality, freshness, or variety of the sashimi. Whenever I ask Kevin to select and slice whatever he feels is best that day, he always delivers an exceptional assortment. I rarely write reviews unless I feel they are truly deserved. In Nami's case, this review is sincere and long overdue. Kevin and his team have created a restaurant that is worthy of recognition, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Started with chili garlic edamame and had to order another just regular as the first item was way too spicy for my wife (even though we asked server Frank to not make it too spicy). Had the combo of large Asahi and mixed tempura. Don't think we'd order the tempura again. Had a shrimp, 2 pieces of rectangular calamari, a potato chip-like sweet potato, and a slice of acorn squash. Was lower priced because it was with the beer, but at $9.99 regular price - pretty pricey for what you got. Also wasn't that great of tempura. Seemed more breaded than tempura-battered. Did a sushi bento box. Cucumber salad more tangy than sweet (good). Yellowtail roll and spicy tuna both substantial. The yellowtail was a solid piece, not the chopped up kind you often get. Both rolls were encased in tasty purple rice. White tuna sashimi slices (3) were large and buttery. Service was great and the interior is clean and attractive. We look forward to a return visit!

I am extremely disappointed with Sushi Oban's handling of a serious food allergy…read more Several weeks ago, while I was at Scottsdale Quarter, I walked into the restaurant specifically to ask whether any of their ramen could be prepared without soy because I have a soy allergy. The hostess told me she would check with the chef. She went to the back, returned, and told me that yes, they could prepare ramen for me with a broth that did not contain soy. Based on that assurance, I ordered the ramen and subsequently ordered it two more times. Each time, I clearly stated that I had a soy allergy, whether ordering online or by phone. At no point was I told there was a problem or that the broth contained soy. Today, I ordered the ramen again and picked it up, only to find a note taped to the order stating that all of their broths contain soy and that they had tried to call me. I called the restaurant because, understandably, I was extremely confused. I explained that I had specifically asked about the soy content from the very beginning, that an employee had checked with the chef, and that I had been assured the broth could be made soy-free. I have now eaten this ramen on multiple occasions believing it was safe for me. That is not a minor mistake. Food allergy information needs to be accurate and consistent. I am fortunate that I did not experience anaphylaxis as a result of the previous meals I was told were soy-free. To make matters worse, I was not refunded for the ramen I purchased today and cannot safely eat. Instead, I was told I would need to wait until Thursday, when the manager is available, to have a conversation about a refund. Today is Tuesday. I cannot recommend Sushi Oban to anyone with a food allergy of any kind. When a customer specifically discloses an allergy and staff consult the kitchen before assuring that customer that a dish is safe, the customer should be able to rely on that information. The inconsistency here is both disappointing and potentially dangerous.
