    Tempura Udon Part 2
    Kemlyn B.

Yutaka's fried food is the bomb! The gyozas do not come with sauce but are crispy on the outside and soft inside. The filling is yum!!! The potato croquettes is my favorite dish here. Another fried treat! It comes with a corn slaw and a special ketchup dip. I ordered the tempera udon without shrimp. In the past, the tempura is perfectly battered and fried. It is great to dunk in the udon broth. I am so satisfied with the udon and tempura veggies! Thank you, Yutaka!!!!

Food was really great. We went with friends. It was fun as we went with friends. Vibes were fine. 3 stars bc tbh service was not good at all. They were friendly, but I just like basic things like water refills without having to ask. We had to get up and ask for things. The ramen was delicious. You get a large portion. The soup was very rich and the pork was amazing. Noodles were a great texture. The egg was nicely cooked. You get a large enough portion to last another meal. 8.5/10 We got teriyaki chicken to go. It was decent. I wish this place was a little closer to my house.

Stumbled upon this place on Yelp and the reviews did not lie, it's fabulous! Service was quick, the place was packed for a Tuesday lunch but they love quickly! It got quiet pretty quick when the larger groups finished up. We checked in on Yelp and got the gyoza for free - it was a bit too over cooked in my opinion but still tasty. The miso soup (not pictured because I was so hungry) was hot and refreshing. Beef teriyaki platter: 9/10 was hot and sizzling, sauced perfectly. Hungry Man Rolls: 9/10, the right hint of spicy and flavor. Cannot wait to come back again!

    Generous Nigiri portions!

This is a very nice sushi spot. Not having an actual sushi bar is a bit of a bummer but the quality of all the dishes are above average. Sadly, the service was a bit slow. The Ramen is excellent. Probably in my top one or two in Arizona. They have a limited selection of Nigiri, but the slices are quite generous and the prices are reasonable. Coming here during dinner hours will require a wait, as this place is pretty small. I came in the afternoon and there wasn't many people there.

If loving this place is wrong, I don't want to be right. I'm officially convinced I've found the best ramen in Phoenix--like... cancel all other plans, this is the one. From the very first bite, I knew I was about to be loyal for life. We ordered ramen plus an assortment of sushi, and let me just say--everything tasted like it had main character energy. The sushi? Fresh, flavorful, and minding its business in the best way. The ramen? Whew. That broth deserves its own fan club. Rich, comforting, and so good it had me pausing mid-bite like, "hold on... let me appreciate this." Pro tip: ask for the chili oil. I don't know what magic is in it, but it took my ramen from "this is amazing" to "I might shed a tear." Absolute game changer. The spot itself is small and stays busy, but honestly? That just adds to the charm. It's giving cozy, intimate, "you found a hidden gem and now you're gatekeeping but also telling everyone you love" vibes. Service was top-tier--attentive without hovering, friendly without forcing it. And the mojito?? Fresh, crisp, and dangerously good. Like... I could've ordered three and made questionable decisions. Long story short: I will be back. Frequently. Probably too frequently. If you don't see me here, mind your business--I'm just on my way back.

We luckily got here before the Sunday dinner time rush so we were seated right away. The place is small so it'll be hard to have a large group here. Service was friendly and fast. The tonkotsu ramen was hearty and flavorful. Lots of broth leftover so I might ask for extra noodles the next time. We will be returning for our ramen fix.

Tasty Japanese food at a great price point. Portions are very generous. We ordered the ramen, tempura, and sashimi. We ate around 4pm and were full for the rest of the night. Tempura was a tad on the greasy side, and comes with rice and miso soup. Pretty good, but we didn't end up finishing it all. Ramen was very flavorful, and the pork was nice and tender. We were very pleased with the meal, and would happily return the next time we're in town.

I got the tonkatsu ramen and it was really good. The staff are super welcoming and the atmosphere is friendly. Definitely come try!

I just went this afternoon (12pm) it was not busy when I got there !! Maybe a party of two ahead of us, so we got sat right away. Service was amazing !! It was a small restaurant but definitely well worth it especially for the prices. The ramen & sushi roll I got were sooooo good !! The sushi was HUGE & definitely worth the money. I would so recommend getting sushi here !! You can tell everything was cooked freshly !! The restaurant itself was super clean & friendly.

My husband and I ordered from here through door dash. We were craving some ramen and also decided to order a sushi roll. I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen and he ordered the Spicy Miso ramen. We split a Hungry Man roll. The food arrived warm and the soup had to be assembled (which is how it usually is with ramen). We both thought the ramen was just ok, the broth seemed kind of bland. Maybe it would have been better if we'd dined in. The Hungry Man sushi roll was really good though, so that made up for the "mid" ramen we received.

We ordered a tonkotsu ramen, sushi roll and chicken teriyaki. The sizzling chicken teriyaki came with a cup of miso soup and rice, the portion was big enough to share, a great choice for protein. The tonkotsu ramen was good too, and the price was reasonable! The spicy garlic albacore roll was huge and fresh. The staff was kind and the environment was clean. For the price and food quality, I'll definitely come back again and try different dishes.

Ask the Community - Yutaka Japanese Restaurant

Are there GF choices on the menu?

Yes. Panko bread crumbs are made from rice. Many of the rolls have no wheat products. I would ask prior to ordering, but I believe so.

I used "all you can eat sushi" as my search term and this restaurant popped up 3rd on the list, but upon reviewing the menu I don't see the AYCE info. Where is it? Please advise.

The restaurant doesn’t have all-you-can-eat (AYCE) sushi. They know they appear as such on Yelp, but Yelp says they have no control over the listing. It’s populated automatically from user search results.

Do they have hand rolls? & are they able to make rolls wrapped in cucumber instead of rice?

    Is there a patio?

No there isn't. Was just there the other night and the servers would have to cross the main path of traversing traffic that is along the strip mall. It's an indoor place but get there early or try to time it where the first batch of peeps are done…

    Any vegetarian ramen?

You can always call and ask...

    How are the Chicken wings?

Delicious! I really liked them and so did my fiancé! I highly recommend them. Also try the Gyoza if you haven't those are to die for!

    Do they have happy hour?

No they don't their prices are comparable to a happy hour though

Definitely a vibe for anime lovers! Food-wise, we started with the gyoza and they were delicious. Perfectly cooked and even better dipped in the ponzu sauce! We also tried the sushi flight, which was a great way to sample a few different flavors. Overall, I really enjoyed it, although the eel was probably my least favorite of the flight just personal preference. The crispy tuna rice was easily the star of the meal! Crispy, flavorful, and the textures worked so well together. I would 100% order that again. The ramen, however, was just okay for me. It wasn't bad or inedible, but the broth was lacking that rich, deep flavor I look for in a good bowl of ramen. A little more depth and seasoning would really take it to the next level. The service was honestly one of the highlights. Our waiter was super friendly, cool, and attentive without hovering, which I always appreciate. Overall, there were definitely more hits than misses. The great service, fun atmosphere, and crispy tuna rice are enough for me to give Full Moon Izakaya another try. Next time, I'll be exploring more of the menu!

Upon entering, we were free to seat ourselves and chose a booth by the wall. It was not busy at all and the service was quick and friendly. We started off with a large sake bomb paired with a Kirin Light ($15). We then ordered two Tonkotsu Ramens, one medium spice and one hot spice ($15.99 each). Honestly, the hot spice level did not taste spicy at all, so I would recommend going extra hot if you like spice. They also provide chili powder on the table if you want to add more spice yourself. The ramen broth itself could have used a tad more flavor. I lightly added some soy sauce to the broth which is something I often do to add a little kick. I loved all of the toppings included, from the green onions to the kikurage (wood ear mushroom). My favorite part was the pork chashu, which was really tender and delicious. I also appreciated that the ramen came with a full soft boiled egg rather than half an egg, and the egg was perfectly runny. Before leaving, we ordered their tea special that was buy one get one. We got a matcha milk tea and a cafe latte which I forgot to take a photo of. I felt like the cafe latte could have used a little more sweetness to balance it. Also, I found it neat that Nishikawa offers a rewards program, not something I see often at ramen shops. My true rating would be 4.5 due to some of the criticisms I mentioned above, but overall I still had a good experience. Thank you for serving us. Visited 5/2/26

Most of the lower set tables were taken so the rez came in handy. Ample bar seating available however. Greeted right away by server and offered drink menus. Both the drinks were phenomenal. I originally wanted the Asahi but they were out of it so they gave me a Japanese Lager from Los Angeles (?), blanking on the name. The Caipirinia was the other drink which was made authentically as well. No complaints on the bartender. Food was 3 Bao Buns and a Chow Mein entree with grilled chicken added on top. This was the perfect amount of food for 2 people. The Bao Buns were extremely soft and light on the breading. If you get them from Din Tai Fung they tend to be dough heavy. These were NOT like that. Chicken and Eggplant buns were tasty and had a light kick to them. Noodles were probably the weakest items, I prefer the rice/flat noodles, but these were normal chow mein noodles. But I had to split the dish with my dining companion who enjoyed the noodles quite a bit. I'd go with Udon or Flat Noodles next time and ask them to add chili flakes. No room for dessert but it sounded delicious, something with bananas. Mhmmm!

We got the orange chicken and drunken noodles with added chicken breast. The food was fresh and tasty. I liked that the orange chicken came with rice, and was not overly breaded. The drunken noodles were pretty salty but overall good. These two entrees were enough for two people to take a little bit of leftovers home. We arrived a little after 5pm and the restaurant was mostly empty. But in the next 20 minutes it filled up and there was open sitting at the bar only. The mood was initially quiet but quickly turned more up beat as the restaurant filled and pop rock music was playing. We asked our waiter a few questions about a few of their rolls and he was very helpful with guidance and recommendations. We ordered Salmon Lemon, Spicy Tuna, Salmon Avocado Maki and California rolls to share for two. This restaurant uses purple rice rather than traditional white rice. This was the first time we have tried a sushi roll made with purple rice and we both loved it. It added a nutty flavor and hearty texture. Purple rice is similar to wild rice and far nutritionally superior to white rice with more antioxidant and fiber. Shortly after we ordered we were served a potsticker dish. I mentioned that we did not order the item and were informed the appetizer was complementary. We thanked the server and tasted the dish. The potstickers were nicely pan fried and had a great crust and flavorful chicken filling. Delicious! About five minutes later our rolls were delivered. All were fresh tasting and delicious. Our favorite was the Salmon Lemon roll. We loved the pop the lemon added. Honorable mentions to the Spicy Tuna roll, very well done, excellent balance of heat and flavors. We truly enjoyed our dining experience and look forward to returning. Highly recommended for a quality sushi experience!
