I first would like to speak highly of Xanadu Nails as a black woman. I have been going here since this place opened and every single owner i have encountered were amazing. Nancy and the family are basically my nail family(literally). This isn't a bluff post to make them look good. This is an honest, I know them well enough to know they are far from racist and rude. This is a family owned business, mom is wonderful, Ni is sweet and soft spoken & Nancy is friendly/ feisty and enjoys joking with her clients. Before throwing the race card, saying they're rude, check yourself. We are in 2019, REGULARS make appointments! Clearly your nails are not an important factor. If I could sue this place I would. I recently created a google account just so I can write a review. On November 6, 2024 I booked a nail appt so my nails can look nice for a trip. The owner, Jessica did my nails but this was the second time I got my nails done from her and she acts like she is too good to even do your nails or would ask me to come back later it was very rude. And then I was convinced to get a pedicure, even though I requested for Jessica, she didn't want to do them saying she has a medical condition and told Victor to do it. But at the same time while I was getting a pedicure, she decided to give herself one while she was watching tv and eating her snack which was totally unprofessional. I got my pedicure by Victor, who was nice but he permanently messed up my toenails. He filed my toenails too hard to the point my skin was peeling and it hurt so bad but I honestly didn't even want to complain because I have been in customer service and I was thinking I don't want to get him in trouble. I even tipped both of them well. My flight was literally the next day but on my trip my toenails were hurting so bad; I thought the pain would go away but it progressed to the point that after 3 months it felt like my nail was growing backwards (it hadn't grown at all). I went through horrible pain where I could barely walk for momths, to the point I had to ultimately remove my toenail. I called the salon multiple times and explained what happened, and emailed this salon 3 times sending them an itemized bill from my podiatrist. They never responded and they blocked my phone number. In the past year, I have spent over $700 to undo the damaged they caused and instead of taking accountability or at the very least apologize for their actions they decided to block my number and never responded to any of my emails. I told them I'd sue them but I spoke to several lawyers who told me it would be more expensive to take them to court and not worth it. I hope I can spare anyone reading this the pain, suffering, and financial damages that I have gone through from perfectly healthy nails to the point I can never wear opened toed shoes. The people running this place are unprofessional, lack integrity, and are just indespicable human beings. All of this and they couldn't even refund me what I spent, they didn't offer to pay any of the necessary medical procedures I had to get, but they couldn't even at the very least apologize or take accountability. Pathetic. My nails after almost a year are now growing back black, have holes in them and are not even the same shape as they used to be. I feel like crying every time I look at them, this salon is just so horrible I wish I never went here. read more

I used to go here and stopped because of the poor service and the favoritism that Nancy had on her clients. I was an avid customer coming monthly - sometimes 3 times a month and suddenly she just says she stopped doing any gels or acrylic nails. Yet she tells me this as she is doing somebody else's acrylic nails? After going for 2 years and seeing how she was often moody and to others, I couldn't take it anymore. I went back a couple of times just asking if she could do a fill in to see if she changed her mind- and found her doing gel nails right in front of me! Still claiming that "she won't do them anymore". Not sure why she discriminated against me, but it was extremely disappointing as I was a devoted customer who always tipped her well. Tip: Make an appointment prior to coming. Customer service was okay. Cleanliness: I am particular about this because my friend previously got fungi due to a Pedicure elsewhere. Prior to sitting down, we noticed that the water where we place our feet didn't look the cleanest (had white particles displayed). The person explained to us in a defensive tone that it's due to the powder that they put into the clean water but changed the water for us anyways (thankful for this). I did notice that the water was cleaner after they changed it so I'm slightly skeptical on whether it was truly the powder that made it dirty (also haven't experienced this at other nail salons). I'll leave it up to anyone to goes there to be the judge of that. The lady that did my nails accidently cut my skin near the cuticle and it started bleeding. I had thought it was just a small cut that would heal within the day but I ended up getting an infection and it took 2+ weeks to heal. Not a happy camper about this but understand mistakes do happen...but would have thought for a nail salon this would be less than common? Nails: The nails came out nice overall. Price was on the average or on the higher end for a mani pedi..depends on what your norm mani pedi costs. I will likely venture out to find other nail salons in the area. I've been a loyal regular at Xanadu for almost 10 years. They are under new ownership as of this week and I have already had a wonderful experience. I got a great no chip pedicure from Jessica! If you have any kind of ingrown she is your girl! Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. She takes time to get the details just right and makes sure you are pleased with the result! Victor usually does my awesome pedicures and I feel so rejuvenated. Two people working shop and just me and one other customer. Victor did a nice job as finished product but I did not care at all for the service. On the TV was a Special Victims show depicting a violent rape case..."AWKWARD". Victor was my clinician and I was getting a no chip mani. The last finger he wrapped to remove existing polish was the first finger he started chiseling away at rather roughly not rewrapping and trying another nail like everyone else does. The UV lamp I had to put my hand in was filthy inside and one of my fingers stuck to the surface and the last one I pulled off had what looked like clear polish adhered to my finger. I brought it to his attention and he just motioned to put my hand back in. As I was trying not to rest my fingers under the lamp my finger touched the top slightly creating a dimple in the polish. When he was putting the 2nd coat of polish he started shaking his head as if to be pissed off. If the lamp didn't have been carotid inside I would have been able to set my fingers down without risking bumping my mail on the inner roof of device. read more

Indulged in a much long-overdue mani-pedi after 4 months of snipping and clipping on my own. Scoped out Xanadu Nails & Spa nearby my "crash pad" in Schaumburg. Not gonna lie, the name stood out to me first, because I'm a huge fan of the campy, 1980 disco, rollerskating musical starring Olive Newton John...But it was also nearby and had decent reviews, so decided to take the plunge. Made an appointment within an hour's time frame and showed up on time. Did not have to wait more than a minute or two to get served. The receptionist asked if I minded if a male nail technician did my fingers and toes....No problemo here, so away we went. The nail technician did what was probably one of the best pedis I've ever had...thorough, took his time and did not rush the massage portion like most all other walk-in nail salons do. Very relaxing and was happy with the results. Manicure was also well done though a bit more rushed. Technicians were practicing COVID-era measures and were wearing masks - but sort of thought they'd be wearing those hats with the plastic shield so got the impression they were a bit on the lax side. They did have a plastic shield installed at the front desk/cash wrap, as well as a hand sanitizer station, so points for that. At $52 for a standard mani-pedi, the cost/price is simply far too high for comparable salons. I don't even pay this much for the same service in the San Francisco Bay Area, so had a bit of sticker shock - particularly given I didn't have any painting done on either my toe or finger nails. If there is one factor that will prevent me from returning it's the price of the service, unfortunately because otherwise, I had a fantastic experience. read more

I called a bit after they opened, and asked if they had time for a manicure & acrylic removal because my old set was too worn out for a fill. They told me I could come in around 45 minutes later so I looked up some inspiration and went in. I ended up changing my mind and wanting a new set of acrylic because the style I wanted would look better longer, and my natural nails are very short. So before starting, right when I walked in, I asked if it was possible for them to do an acrylic set on me rather than a normal manicure, she said he could, but he can't do nail art/designs. I asked if he would be able to do a red french tip, and they said yes. Im happy they accommodated for my change of mind. So we began by sitting down and he filed the polish off my existing nails, and then clipped them shorter. Afterwards I asked if he would then soak them. He looked at me, and with a tip in his hand he individually dug under & ripped off each one I was not expecting that lol and it hurt! Then the filing hurt too, I am used to filing my own nails with an E-file very similar to the one that he used. It can feel kind of like a burning sensation when it is going too fast and when using a gritty file bit on the natural nail. I am very passive when I get my nails done, I explain what I want, show photos for reference, and let them do their thing. Unless it hurts, then I politely let them know. He was very friendly and did go lighter if I said that it hurt. He then glued on each nail tip, and filed more. The more he filed, the more sore some of them got. I showed him the reference photo to describe the shape and color, he said he could do it, and I put my phone down. He cut the length and filed the shape. Then he added the acrylic, which burned from the filing. Then he filed the shape again, which looked really good. I asked if he would like to see the reference photo once more, before he began the gel polish, but he declined. It looked like he was doing a pretty good job with the french tip, but I do feel like my nails are 50% red and 50% clear. I think because my nails are short, and he used a clear acrylic powder to do the base, you could see where my natural nail stopped. Maybe that's why he did more red. I will add pictures so that you can see what I'm referring to. Also, I feel like on some nails the tip used could have been a larger size, because my natural nail pokes out significantly on the sides of my middle fingers. I was aware that he is not a nail design guy, so I wasn't expecting a jaw dropping french tip. But I will let the reader decide if it counts as a french tip by including pictures! I ended up paying $57 + $7 tip. He had to charge my card a second time for the tip, because there wasn't a place to write it on the receipt. I told him 11, but I guess he heard 7 because when I checked my bank statement it was only $7 tip I wish he would have gotten the full $11 because that's 20% of the bill. It was affordable, they were friendly, and I may go in again. read more

I thought I would try a new place before my vacation and so bummed that I did. The place was full of regulars and technicians so I had a good first impression. Their no chip technique ended up damaging my nails. Not only that it only lasted 3 days before it started fading in color and 5 days before it started chipping. So disappointed. read more

It is beyond me how this place got so many stars from so many people (maybe they are just all of their friends?). First I want to start with the pedicure: she cut my cuticles so close to my skin, that my toes were throbbing for about 3 days afterwards. Not only that, but she used the scrub (instead of a lotion) to "massage" my calves and practically took off a layer of skin in the process. The paint job was somewhat decent - but definitely not worth the pain and possibility of infection from my exposed skin. Then there's the no-chip manicure: this was done by a different unqualified individual... I have uploaded a picture to show what it looks like just 3 days after getting it done. Horrendous job on my cuticles, the whole thing is already peeling off on its own, and most importantly it was a sloppy paint job. Everyone who worked there seemed "nice" - but that's just not enough when running a business. Prices weren't bad, but I am more than willing to pay and tip extra for better service. A friend referred me here and I decided to check it out. Cute little hidden place off Golf in Hoffman Estates. It is in the same complex as Browns Chicken, Ti Amo, and other establishments. Have had my nails done twice there and each time they are turned out great!! Girls are very nice and easy to talk to. And every time they have offered me bottled water. Clean workstations, many nail colors to chose from, and good prices. Last time I was there I had my eyebrows waxed as well, she was super gentle and didn't make them super thin either. Apparently they have coupons in ValPaks, will have to look out for those :) read more

This was the first time that I went to Xanadu. Victor did my toe nails in no chip. It lasts much longer and I tend to walk around the house barefoot. Recently went in for a mani-pedi and got a surprise... seems like the place has been sold, and the previous staff (Brandon, Julie, Christie) that I knew and liked... all gone. New group, seems nice enough, but the rapport and relationship is not there, and the girl that did my manicure, needed direction on fixing a bubble, and cleaning up the sides, while the pedicurist needed a suggestion to put in a toe separator. Everything was okay, but not stellar, and though I tipped decent - because I ran a little late and had to have both done at the same time... I am not sure I want to remain the Duchess. I LOVE this place!!! It's family owned by a Mother and her Two daughters. Kim, Ni, and Nancy are SO sweet and I always have the BEST time. Ni and Nancy, the two daughters/sisters, are hilarious. They always joke with everyone and they actually remember you when you come back. Nancy usually does my acrylic nails with gel polish and her color recommendations are always PERFECT with my skin tone. Kim, a.k.a. Mom, gives the most wonderful and relaxing pedicures! Ni is always busy doing nails too and I have yet to get my nails done by her, but she's also very highly recommended by the ladies that come in. The color selection is really great and Monday-Wednesday, they offer discounted prices on certain services, but you don't have to pay in cash. They are closed on Sunday's, and usually open 7 days a week around the Summer Time. I highly recommend this place and I'm so glad I came here after another one of my girlfriends referred me. I had a completely different experience than most others had here. We made appointments for one pedicure and one manicure on a Saturday at 2:00. There was only one other patron in there and only 2 employees, on a Saturday. I was perplexed as to why it was so empty on a Saturday. So I was taken back immediately for my pedicure but my daughter had to wait 40 more minutes for her manicure and I was done by the time she was started. No apology or explanation, just waiting... then the man talked on FaceTime the entire time he did the manicure, never greeting her or saying one word to her at all. Extremely unprofessional and rude in my opinion. When we checked out, the prices were different than what was stated online and finally, the leg cream consistency is indescribable, sticky, oily and weird and remained that way all night until I washed it off. When I walked into the shop, I was overcome with the fumes of nail polish remover. I had an appointment scheduled for a mani/pedi and arrived 5 minutes early. I ended up waiting 20 minutes before being seated into a chair for my pedicure. The service was okay, nothing phenomenal and took much longer than other places I have visited. I never received an apology for the delays and ended up late for my next meeting. I will not be coming back. I went here for the second time today and I've decided I won't go anywhere else from here on out. My first time going, I got a full set of acrylics and they looked amazing. Today I got a no chip and a pedicure. I almost fell asleep during my pedicure, it was so relaxing. My toes and fingers were nearly perfect. Nancy can do any design you show her! I love how she takes the time to make sure each nail is not only perfect but all the gunk is out of underneath your nail. She is the only artist I know of who has taken their time to do that. For a design on each nail and no chip in surprised it was only $40. When I went to another salon in the past to get all black nails no design it was $45 and they broke in two weeks, I've had Nancy's nails on for a month and they're STILL on, no chips or anything! The man who did it was very throurough! He did a great job clipping and filing my toes, and applying my polish. It's not my Go-To spot. But if I'm in the area again, I would go back. read more
