I've been coming to Xander Blue for a few years now because my awesome stylist, Kelly K., "goes" here. I've been with her for a long time, (she accepts my crazy with open arms...and its A LOT of crazy), and I will go to whatever salon she is located. This particular salon happens to be perfect and I'm glad she is here! I love the location as its in a central area and located next to restaurants, Starbucks, shopping, etc. So, I can kill many birds with one stone when I'm in the area. I also love the salon staff. As soon as I walk in, I'm always greeted with a "Hey!!" and I'm always like, "Hey!" ... and then I'm asked if I want a beverage. (You know I do!) Awesome. The level of service and friendliness is fantastic! Simply put, its just a great energy in this place. Everyone is chatting away while getting their hair done and I love watching and listening to all of the interactions. As far as salons go, this one is "alive" ... and I've been to a few that feel quiet and sterile. This one is comfy and funky, especially with the velvet damask wallpaper that I'm in love with. Its always super clean and you can tell that the folks that work here not only take care of the salon but each other. Its nice to see! As for my stylist Kelly K., she is amazing. She puts up with my crazy ideas and really listens to what I want. I love when she tells me the truth about my insane ideas and I love what she comes up with as well. Also, the girl knows BANGS! I've referred a few people to her because I always get complimented on mine when I sport them. (I like to change my hair a lot.) Five stars for this upscale yet friendly salon. Xander Blu is located on the second floor of this shopping plaza, accessible by stairs or elevator. Customers are greeted by the friendly receptionist and offered a choice of beverage. They have a coffee and tea station that's well stocked. This is the type of salon where anyone can feel comfortable. Customers are of all ages and types. The stylists are all independent, but each time I've been there the owner is actively engaged. In fact he came over to introduce himself to me during my first consultation appointment It's a lively place with lots of interaction. It's filled with the sounds of conversation, blow dryers, and music from the 80's - today. My stylist is Lisa. I love this salon!! It's chic and makes you feel sexy. Angie Hazen has been styling my hair for over 10 years and she's a miracle maker. She's so good I've referred several of my friends and family to see her and they love her too. She listens to what you want, but will be honest if something won't look right. She always makes my hair look natural and feel shiny. The staff that washes your hair makes you never want to leave with the scalp massage and they will even offer you wine to help relax more. Yes, unfortunately this is not a scam and we were at your salon off of Sand Lake Road. We prior used Angie but she was not working that day do we opt to use Lisa. Big mistake. My daughter left the salon looking the same as she arrived. I contacted the salon and the management explained they were rented booths and I had to deal with Lisa directly. Lisa refused to make good on her services and unfortunately the management refused to stand by its customers so here I am!!! Letting every one that you guys are the scammers. It was the worst $300+ spent!! There are so many other salon options in the area! I would check them out first than go here!! I wish I wasn't telling you the truth, but I am!! This was my first time at this salon getting my retouch for the Rusk Str8 treatment. I loved this salon, I liked that it's on the second floor so I don't feel like I'm in a fish tank being observed by people outside. My favorite thing about this salon was the wash station. The chairs were reclined back so you get to lay down while your hair gets washed, so much more comfortable on your neck! I found out all the ladies working there work their own hours so you'd have to call and arrange your appointment with a stylist individually. Lisa is great, she really knows what shes doing. Friendly service, and such a clean salon. Loved it!!! read more

Love this salon and Lori M! The salon is very clean and chic. The employees including the receptionist, assistants, and hair stylist are all very friendly. Lori understands how annoyingly picky I am about my hair. I describe what kind of blonde and cut I desire and she nails it everytime. I have never had a bad do' thanks to her. I'm literally obsessed with my hair every time I see Michelle at Xander blue on sand lake! With each visit I leave happier and happier with the results on my hair. I've been working with Michelle a long time to get the look I want. I have short thin brown hair naturally and I wanted long blonde hair (of course we all want what we don't have). I originally was referred to Michelle by a friend for extensions, and now she does it all, my extensions, color and cut and I'm so happy to have found her, she made sure I got the look I wanted while still keeping my hair healthy. I'm so impressed by her extension blending mostly. It's not easy to blend long extensions with short hair and she makes it work, and even gave me great styling advice for the extensions. This is my 3rd time to the salon seeing Miguel. I went from dark brown to now an ashy blonde. He was very honest with me from the start about how long the process would be and the potential damage to my hair. I have been very happy the last couple times seeing him- doing full highlights. Today we did a base color and highlights. I loved the actual color of the hair but the base color was very yellowish (as he warned it would be since I had a lot of brown still at the base from my hair growing out and doing highlights, not all over color). I was unhappy and even though it wasn't terrible and I definitely could've lived with it, Miguel came up with a plan to get the color more in line with what I wanted.
