My regular stylist (Lashon) was on vacation, so I booked a haircut with Jessica T. right next to my stylist's station. Jessica is so cool and easy to work with and talk to; we converse (and laugh) many times when my appointment is with Lashon. Jessica listened to my objectives and described a shorter haircut that would be perfect for me for the Florida summer. She used a razor to remove the weight of my hair but kept a similar style. She walked me through the process and explained everything in detail to make sure it was what I was looking for. I found out Jessica just taught her first class (on shags) and I can see why Phillip has such high confidence in her abilities. This Review is for SAM I will start off on how I found this woman advertising her business off of TikTok. She had nothing in her bio showing how to book with her anything about her socials or how to contact her. I had to find her on Instagram myself. She had nothing in that bio either I had to DM her and she's very bad at responding. So before I got started cutting my hair I told her that I had been growing out and waiting to get a haircut for a year and a half and that's very important to me and then I've been looking for someone that I could trust and I told her that I've seen her work and it looked like someone I could trust and that this is a very big moment for me that I've been waiting for a long time she didn't seem to consider that much. She just said OK let's get started then I told her I wanted 1 inch of the back and 1 inch off the front. I told her I wanted to hear on my sides to be longer than the rest because I like when my curls hug my head. I have three a curl type anyways she didn't listen to anything. I told her she cut about 4 inches off my entire head. I told her I wanted layers that was the only thing she did correctly. She even made the sides shorter than she left the front and the back she left part pieces of my hair and even and after she finished cutting my hair, I told her probably about three times that it was short, she kept saying it was a "good grow out cut" she asked me if there was a reference picture. I told her at least like him then she asked me are there any big no no I said not tooconsidering that I am now attending in person school again and I wanted my hair the way I wanted it which is what somebody should do so if you don't want somebody that's just going to assume what you want based off the first thing you tell them and you want somebody that actually considers and pays attention and cares for detail and considers what you want don't come to this lady she's very unprofessional. Everything about her business is very unprofessional and about her persona in general. The salon is nice. The place was a nice place. I absolutely loved the interior as well as how open the space is. Also this was the first salon I have been to that the sink chairs reclined. I came in with my one year old and they were super accommodating with making space for his stroller or stopping so I could tend to him. I've been here twice now for a haircut. Each time I've left feeling so happy and refreshed! This is a cute bustling salon! I came here on a Thursday for a 7:45 appointment. First of all, THANK YOU to these ladies for staying and working so late!! My wash was the most relaxing shampoo I've ever had! The chair didn't hurt my neck and the water was hot. Can't remember her name but she was great with her hands! I scheduled with whoever was available this time instead of requesting Chelsea because I was desperate to get in. I had Jessica Tavarez and couldn't have been treated any better! First of all Jessica was sooo sweet and bubbly! I felt like she really took the time to listen to what I wanted and explain what she was going to do. She gave me EXACTLY what I wanted and she is quick!! I love the salon and everyone is friendly. I followed Aly from a previous salon for extensions. She originally put two rows in for me, but since my hair is so fine and fragile, she suggested we go down to one row so I wouldn't experience hair damage. I had an issue with my extensions, for the first time in over a year and half, gave her a call and she got me in quickly to fix them. She always talks to me about how to care and style them. I also just decided to change up my hair color and she did an amazing job. In fact, my Mother's stylist (he's been one for over 40 yrs), remarked on the beautiful color and how knowledgeable she is with color and extensions. I made an appointment weeks ago with Khristina Yousef. I spoke to a receptionist this afternoon explaining that my car broke down and I would be a couple mins late as I needed a ride and was told that was not a problem. I get to my appt 13 mins late and Khristina, who was sitting in a salon chair and I could see, does not answer her phone or my text so I call the salon and am put on hold for 4 mins to be told I was too late and she doesn't have time to do my hair. She won't talk to me or get on the phone and of course there is no manager available. This is the most unprofessional salon I have ever worked with and I would give them 0 stars if it were an option. I was greeted by fun, friendly people at the front desk who were happy, stylish, and exuded a special WARMTH that I haven't encountered anywhere in Orlando! No snobby, chic or aloof nonsense. It's obvious these people like working here and like each other. 2nd! The atmosphere and decor is artsy, relaxing and inviting, too. The location is great- parking on Mills can be tricky but there's parking in back, too. 3rd! NICOLE!! She is so talented, warm, creative, and fun!! She made me feel relaxed and evaluated my boring cut and worked meticulously to transform it into a contemporary style that actually had people complimenting me all day the next day!! I am so THRILLED to have found Nicole and Educe!! I go back for balayage next week! Soooo very sad and sorry to report that Nicole has moved on to Texas and although the salon carries on, my experiences here after her departure have been less than stellar. Both my follow-up haircut and my follow-up color (2 separate) appointments began 15-20 minutes late and both stylists were working on me in between other clients. My haircut appointment went quickly but was not what I wanted- looked ok anyway. My hair color appointment took over 3 hours and my hair is super short! And I just got a base and foils....on top of that the hot water was GONE so I was washed, rinsed, glazed, rinsed, conditioned and rinsed YET AGAIN ( all 3 times) with FREEZING COLD water! Seriously! If you are too busy to take clients, don't book them! If you're hot water heater tank can't handle the load, get a tankless model- they never run out and only heat water on demand which saves money and energy. Not sure I will return.... I was starving to death by the time I left which only escalated my irritation. Really nice bunch of folks, but hey, my time is valuable and if I make an appointment for a certain time, I can understand a stylist being 5 minutes late once, maybe twice- but 3 different stylists on 3 different appointments 15-20 minutes late each (even Nicole) is just not acceptable. Educe you need some education in customer care. So glad Alice of Educe took time to reply, however I must state for the record that the other two occasions when the two other stylists kept me waiting were not during peak Holiday hours. Also, I am a seasoned vet when it comes to hair salons- other salons do not book clients unless they can accommodate them. I have been turned down on many occasions for desired appointment times because the salon would rather give each customer undivided attention. 5 Stars for a haircut and color that matched my request to a tee (thanks, Nicole!) and a gorgeous salon. I was in desperate need of a haircut and after a search on Yelp I decided to try Educe. I'd walked by it a million times when heading to Tako Cheena, but had never ventured in. Luckily, they were able to match me with Nicole and I got an appointment that very day. The inside is HUGE now that they've expanded and taken over the shop next door. This means it is airy, clean, and modern. It also means that you can get an appointment the day-of, particularly if you're not trying to see any specific stylist. This is unheard of at my other salon of choice, Alchemy, because of the size. Nicole was awesome from start to finish. She listened to me explain my last unfortunate experience with a balayage and made me feel comfortable about the process and understand where it had likely gone wrong with the last colorist I visited. I have very fine hair and she knew exactly how to work with it (which isn't easy). Every step of the way she was mindful to check that I approved and to understand my specific wants. I really appreciated this because there's always the fear that you'll leave with a haircut you didn't want. Luckily, Nicole knew her stuff and the balayage was blended into my hair perfectly and left it looking naturally sun-kissed. We talked quite a bit while she was working on my hair and she explained how high the bar is set for any stylist that wants to work at Educe. Nicole let me know that the owner, Phillip, has to stand by all of their work since it's his name on the salon, so the vetting is definitely a process with everyone having to prove themselves before they can get a seat. In addition, they're constantly taking classes to improve and keep up with new techniques. This across the board level of work was proven in the fact that I got assigned a random stylist (this little lady didn't do enough homework to pick a specific stylish when she called) and was soooo happy with the results. Lol. now that's it's a couple years later I've cooled down, but it was just so upsetting that I paid 250 for this, and then I called and asked if it could be fixed, and I went in and the girl "fixed" it for me, but I went home with it looking exactly the same. The first pictures is what I asked for, and the others are the resultI got yellow mom highlights, not balayage. Update/ and in response to the owner: It's only fair I felt the need share my experience. My cousin has only gone here, she didn't get -at all- what she asked for. Also, no my hair wasn't colored. My hair was 100% virgin all around. This was my very first time getting it colored/bleached. And I did go back to have it corrected but I left with the exact same issues. Heather was compassionate about the mishap and ensured me that I would love my hair by the end of the appointment. In response to their response: I, in no way was outwardly rude to Dawn. I'm not entirely sure "what they picked up from the tapes" but that's complete nonsense. I was just firm and wanted to know what was going on with my hair. No attitude, no threats, no aggressive body language. I left them thinking I was happy because I wanted to run. I was put in a position where I felt the only option I had was to act extra ordinarily polite to remedy the situation in an effort to fix the hair. My image / my hair was at the liberty of this salon and what an uncomfortable experience. As I told Lisa, the manager that day, in person I'm a Registered Nurse. I know how to act professional, wish I could say the same towards this salon. Also, I'm not asking for a refund or a free service. I won't step foot in this salon ever again by choice, GLADLY. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Run FAR AWAY! Wow o wow! Just wow. I've never experienced such terrible customer service. I came to an appointment with Dawn for a cut and balayage. She completely BUTCHERED my hair and instead of owning up to her mistake she simply tried to cover it and suggested that I only part my hair in a certain way all the time. I had to get the manager involved to correct the color issue. The complete LEFT side of my head was blonde and not blended at ALL (see picture). Cooper blonde to make matters WORSE. She had to process my hair multiple times to fix it. Which was far from what I wanted and not worth what I paid for. I was so incredibly uncomfortable with this lady manipulating my hair. NIGHTMARE. I also noticed that this salon caters to its regulars. They were just throwing me around between people, such as rushing when I had toner still in my hair phase and Dawn didn't even partake in blow drying/ styling the final product, it was the girl who washes hair who completely blow dried my hair and did the final style. I have been going to Educe Salon and seeing Chelsea Mulligan for over 4 years now. When I first stepped into the salon, my hair was damaged, the color was messy, and would not grow due to breakage. Chelsea SAVED my hair! She not only fixed the color, she didn't cause any more unnecessary damage and lead me in the right direction with products I could use to help repair it. I trust her to do whatever she wants with my hair (which is always something that best works with my complexion and face shape). She'll be honest with you too! She'll let you know that no, you don't need new bangs right after a break-up. She isn't pushy about you buying products but will recommend great ones. Overall, such a kind-hearted and talented (so so talented) person. Now onto the salon itself. The salon has been clean every single time I've been there which I can't imagine being an easy task. I've always been greeted with smiles by multiple people working there and promptly asked if I'd like a beverage. The salon is very aesthetically pleasing and makes me feel fancier just being in it, without outrageous prices. As a cosmetologist for eight years myself I believe I was overpriced for the experience that I was given I came in for a set of hair extensions The woman that conducted my service charged Me $550 for less than an hour service without a proper scalp wash to prepare my hair for the extensions there was no color retouch no cleanup trim not even a basic cut and my stylist continued to talk to her assistant and another stylist that was working on another client I feel that she took time away from me as she continued to speak. I was taken back by the amount because she didn't wash my hair she didn't blow dry it there was no color involved. When I came in for my consultation the only thing She told me was the hair itself was 550.00 we never discussed a fee for herself she didn't tell me how much this was going to be prior to my services. I've never been to a salon and got hair extensions where they didn't wash your hair first or make sure that your roots were touched up properly before the extensions are put in I do not recommend anybody go here for hair extensions she didn't even book me another appointment to get them out. It was not worth the grand total of 1,130 June 1-2020 Once again this so called businesswoman is at it again. She first put shame on you only for telling my experience on YELP,which is what YELP is for,along with many ludicrous statements and lies with her response as well. I went to this salon for a "curly cut" I called same day and got an appointment awesome! Now I go into the salon, the hair dresser they assigned was John. He had told me he doesn't really know how to work with my hair but was in the hair industry for 17 years. I explained how I just moved down here didn't know who to go to so I was taking a chance. He did great with the cut, but the styling was horrible unfortunately his assistant was explaining to me how she knew what to do because curly texture hair is what she is studying but didnt want to disrespect the stylist and say anything. So, since nobody responded to my review I decided to call them and talk to a manager. I spoke with Amanda and explained her my situation, she asked me to go there that they would do a toner to fix the color of my hair. After driving for about 40 minutes to get there the hairstylist told me that the toner wouldn't change anything. They would have to do another balayage session and that would cost me another $200+ dollars. I decided not to do it because I don't want to spend more money and not get the results that I want. Specially if it was not my mistake. They didn't do anything to fix my hair. For a Salon that advertises that they are one of the top 100 Loreal's Salon this is not acceptable. Now I have my hair 3 different colors and they didn't do anything about it. Very BAD customer service. Never going back there!!!!!! They never offer me the toner when I got there. Educe, Educe I had split ends. No breakage or damage. My last hair appointment before Valerie was 4 months prior, not years, MONTHS. My hair grows slowly so I don't have to come in so often. Follow up appointment with valerie was scheduled for 10 weeks. This is the first time I have ever had severe breakage started after I saw Valerie. If my hair was damaged, had severe breakage and was unhealthy as you said (I only said split ends) why would an "experienced" hair dresser recommend and do a color correction instead of getting my already healthy hair into better condition first? The damage to my scalp NEVER existed and still doesn't. As posted, i said damage to my hair. I did ask valerie if she was sure it wouldn' damage my hair she said it would not. I came in with split ends and I was NOT in tears because my hair was NOT damaged when i came in! I just wanted the brown out. Codor correction is a comoon procedure. I told Valerie I understood if she had to cut off a couple inches. 5 inches is quit a bit more than a couple. We NEVER discussed my budget. I did tell valerie i didn't mind paying more for good results and she said she was the same way. She said it would take a couple hours for color correction (take brown out which is still in the back). You saw it in my hair and in the pictures. We NEVER discussed partial vs full. This is the first time I've ever heard of a half head correction and who would even want half of (instead of all of) their hair done? Valerie showed me my hair in the mirror when she was finished I said I was glad there was no more brown. Again, I did NOT cry afterwards or before. Of course I tipped good. I always do for anyone in the service industry. There are 2 things that are definitely my fault. 1. Trusting valerie and 2. Not messing up the style and looking underneath in the back closer to the roots, which I have never seen any hair client do in any salon. I didn't come back sooner because my Aunt died so I had to cancel. Also, I didn't and never have looked closer to the roots on the back of my head because my previous hair dresser knew what she was doing. I don't see your photos. Are they my photos from my phone that you took pictures of? If you remember when you came out to talk to me, I suggested we talk somewhere private other than the front lobby so we went outside where you fingered through my hair and saw the damage and pictures. One thing you are correct about is that i came in for a full refund because valerie ruined my hair. You have the slandering good name and reputation backwards. It is you who is being untruthful. Please post the before pictures of my brown waist long hair and so called damage. I have posted after pictures of shorter uneven cut and failed color correction. Maybe you should write fiction books, you are such a good storyteller. I am sure that any salon would have done a better job. Thank you for posting after pictures that show uneven cut. Look at length on both shoulders showing about 2 inch difference between right and left shoulder. Bangs are choppy and crooked and do not blend with hair. Before appointment my hair was thick to the ends, in your picture my shirt shows through my hair where hair was overprocessed. There are few times where you go to a salon for the very first time and get matched up with the perfect place and stylist. Educe salon has it all! I scheduled an appointment the day before through yelp and got an instant email confirmation which was super nice as they were closed the day I made the appointment. Parking is a bit tricky, but there is parking on the street and behind the building which is super convenient. I walked in and was immediately greeted by Yanni and she critiqued my hair and asked me what I was looking for and told me the truth about what would look best. She was super knowledgeable and easy going and recommended a bunch of products and tips for the look and style I was trying to achieve. I have never been so happy with a cut and I'm so happy I've found my forever salon (for as long as I'm in Orlando!) I love this salon!! It's so hard to find someone that can cut a pixie well without it looking too boyish and Frank didn't disappoint. I live in Winter Winter Springs and go out of my way to see Frank every 6 weeks for my trim. He does a great job at cutting it to make sure it doesn't grow out looking shaggy/messy. The vibe in the salon is relaxed. They always offer my a drink so I get a basic glass of wine and it's so nice, almost feels like I'm being pampered. The music is cool, always a variety of folk, RnB, rap and jazz going on. read more
