First, I was lied to by the NEW management more than a handful of times about scheduling with my stylist I've been going to for a year. They told me she wasn't available for weeks (literally has never happened ever), and I could try a new technician, i just needed a quick one week fill - and it had been my experience before that all the employees were amazing. The girl who did my fill totally wrecked my eyelashes. They were glued together and there was hardly any skill involved. It broke my natural lashes and took about 2 months to finally get back to healthy and normal. And every time I tried to book with Mia after that, I was pushed off over and over to go to a new stylist. Finally I got out of them today that she doesn't work there anymore. There are officially NO original stylists left at this salon. NONE of them are trained in the credible Longmi technique. If you'd like a reputable technician please send me a message and I can help you. (Also note if you didn't see my last review, I've been getting eyelash extensions for 10 years.) One last note - management tried to charge me for a 3 week fill, when it had only been about 12 days since my last appointment. I had to sort of argue with them to note the days and finally they agreed that it was "an oversight". Obviously this shop is now struggling with money - but that was inevitable with the change in management and the fact that all of the trained technicians were forced to quit. I never like to see a business fail but they are running their old reputation in to the ground - and we pay good money and expect quality results EVERY time.

Recently I've been super busy at work, so I kind of dropped the ball on scheduling at one of my usual spots, so I decided to give Nola's a try. The basic facial is $75, and it lasts about 70 minutes. For an extra $10, you can add on a peel. They're closed on Monday and Sunday. Scheduling was pretty easy. I called and left a message, and was called back within 24 hours, and they scheduled an appointment without demanding a credit card. Cool! Once you walk in, it's hard to believe you're only a few steps from the hustle and bustle of Grand Ave. The treatment rooms are on the small side, but they're nicely decorated with drapey fabric. I forgot to get the name of my facialist, but she was VERY MELLOW. They do NOT push product like some other places. Everything they used smelled really good. It was so soothing she thought I had fallen asleep. Now here's why they only get 4 stars. I got extractions - part of why I get facials, I want a professional to squeeze the gunk out. Well, I think she left the peel on some of the extracted areas too long. I generally have some puffiness or redness immediately after a facial, but within a few days I am glowing and happy. This time I ended up with one little spot that just can't be covered by makeup. I am praying that it resolves itself before picture time. I will revise my review after a few more days of recovery. I will probably go back here, because the overall experience was great. I ran into a friend about 30 minutes later, and she couldn't tell I had just gotten a facial, which was cool. The prices for waxing are within the range of other nice places in the Bay, but more expensive than the back room of a nail shop.

One of the documents that is provided is a very detailed list of how-to's and what to expect pieces of info. After signing the paperwork, Melanie asked me a few questions about myself and what I wanted. She definitely knows her stuff and her confidence in her abilities left me at ease as the session started. My session took approximately 45 minutes. Throughout my session, Melanie made sure to check in on me and how I was feeling. If there was an issue, she made sure to address it and wanted me to tell her if anything felt a little off. I felt very little to no discomfort during the session and afterwards my eyelashes looked AMAZING. I have been getting my lashes done for a few years now and I can definitely vouch for how amazingly…read moretalented is Katie! I've been to a few others before and sometimes I think finding the best fit lash artist is like Cinderella and her glass slipper...you gotta try a few until you find the best fit! Let me tell you exactly how I've come to fall completely in love with her work: 1) Perfectionist! Katie does spend time on her volume sets but that's because she is literally making absolutely perfect fans on every single one of your lashes. How do I know? Because as my lashes grow out and naturally shed, I'll find one on my counter sink in PERFECT fan, not clumped together, not 3-4 lashes with globs on glue at the base. They are perfectly spaced lash fans that create beautiful wispy volume. I would rather lay there for two hours with PERFECTLY fanned out volume lashes than have a rushed one hour session with clumps. 2) Genuine and Real! Katie is honest and isn't trying to just make a fast buck with shoddy work. When I came to see her after not being able to be scheduled with my previous lash girl, she very honestly told me that she needed to remove the previous work and let my lashes grow back a bit. She could've easily just removed my previous set and put a new set on, but after removal, she saw that I had some natural lashes that needed to grow a bit more (apparently they might've been pulled out in a chunk due to glue clumping from my previous artist's work). She wanted what was best for my lashes and not what was best for her pocket! 3) Caring! She cares about the health of your natural lashes and wants you to be able to enjoy lash extensions for a long time. She educates you on your natural lash growth circle and lash care and because she is so meticulous in her careful placement of every full lash fan, my lashes really DO get healthier! 4) Lastly, TALENTED AF! She knows that I have thin but long natural Asian lashes and that a D curl is not going to work with my small Asian double lid. She knew to use a C curl, she knew to use thinner but more lashes versus thicker and less, she knew what length would work with my eye shape! She customizes it to fit your look. I even referred my girl friend to her who is also Asian but has different shaped eyes than me and I could tell she did a slightly different style and it looked amazing on her. Oh wait sorry and one more 5) did I mention her lashes lasted ALL MONTH? I used to get my lashes filled every two WEEKS with all my previous lash artists. I don't know how she does it, but they still looked good a MONTH later when I came back in for a new set. You know what that means? Better for my wallet! Katie is in it for quality lashes, customized looks and longevity of your natural lashes! Anyway, I've found the Cinderella to my glass slipper.
