Intrigued and lured in by a Groupon deal for around $49 for a set of 40, I decided to jump the gun and use Melanie to pop my eyelash extension cherry just in time for wedding season. Melanie uses Vagaro as her scheduling application so you'll get random text messages from Vagaro and Melanie about your appointment. When I made it to my appointment a few minutes earlier than anticipated, Melanie gave me a few papers to read over and sign. One of the documents that is provided is a very detailed list of how-to's and what to expect pieces of info. After signing the paperwork, Melanie asked me a few questions about myself and what I wanted. She definitely knows her stuff and her confidence in her abilities left me at ease as the session started. My session took approximately 45 minutes. Throughout my session, Melanie made sure to check in on me and how I was feeling. If there was an issue, she made sure to address it and wanted me to tell her if anything felt a little off. I felt very little to no discomfort during the session and afterwards my eyelashes looked AMAZING. Went there via living social deal. The positives: Melanie is a nice lady, I liked that she did a lot of explaining when working in the lashes. She appeared very knowledgable which I liked. The Negatives: Being my second time doing lash extensions (first time was very nice and it was also via a a friend who was starting up). This time I was quite disappointed coz one could barely see them; but she mentioned its becoz I have few lashes; I figured maybe with age I have lost a few lashes.. So I was fine with it. I was glad I had tried it though; coz then I knew probably not my way to go in the future if I ever want full lashes. Regardless I insisted that my SIL should go to her but unfortunately also for her it didn't turn out well. My SIL has had them done before elsewhere and they have always looked good; but I pushed for her to go to SHS. I figured my SIL has way more lashes than I do so definitely it was gonna be great for her. So we reached out to her and this was her response. "I am sorry she was unhappy but I explained to her that unlike my full prices getting a full set 40 per eye only get half with Groupon as a sample of my work as stated in fine print. Also she has very few lashes as I explained to her as well. I appreciate the feed back but the application was done properly and per outline of the Groupon was fulfilled. Thanks" And buy the way.. There is no where on the fine print where it states that the service will be a sample of her work..I looked again and made sure I copied and saved that fine print! So, just a word of caution, don't go with high expectations as shown in that picture in the coupon. And confirm if she will be sampling her work( at least that way, one knows what to expect). Bought Groupon for small amount of lashes and loved it. Wanted something special for a vacation. Melanie was so sweet and explained everything thoroughly. (Also, open on Sunday for present time. This was the first time I've had my eyelashes done since 2008 and let me just tell you, IT WAS WAAAAYYY better of an experience than the first - really, I can't imagine it being better. I found a Groupon ($67 for set of 80) for the salon, was a little skeptical, read the reviews, and decided to take the plunge after reading all of the positive feedback. Melanie was kind and inviting. She knew I was getting my eyelashes done for my wedding so she took extra time perfecting each lash. I have an odd phobia of eyeballs so she explained every step calmly to help me relax. Being Asian and not having a ton of eyelashes to begin with, Melanie was still able to make my eyelashes look long, luscious, and NATURAL! I even went make-up-less for a few days because my eyelashes made me look naturally awake (and if you know me, you'd know I never do that). Melanie also sells items for taking care of your lashes. I did not make these purchases as a bride on a budget, but I wished I had. I thought I'd be able to find make-up remover and eyeliner without glycol (the ingredient used to remove the lashes) but it was very difficult. In addition, Melanie also sells LipSense, which makes for a perfect one stop shop. I had been looking for a representative for a while and was simply chatting with her. She calmly (without being pushy) told me she started selling it to see how she liked it. She gave me a great deal on the color and gloss and even let me test the color before purchasing. If you don't know about LipSense, look up YouTube videos, it's AMAZING! It lasts for HOURS and does NOT smudge - perfect for a wedding! I would definitely make the drive out to Lewisville if you're in need of an exceptional experience and amazing lashes. MELANIE IS THE BEST!! I will never see anyone else for my lash extensions! It took ME a while to find what I liked, and work with Mel to find the style, length, and number of lashes that fit the look I was shooting for. Now we have it down to a science and I can't wait to go in and see her and come out looking refreshed. I bought a living social deal, I have never done lashes before but thought I'd try it. So when I bought the deal I did it for lash plus 2 refills as I never thought I wouldn't end up doing them & knew I could get a refund from living social if issue. Well I bought on 23rd, booked appt for 24th explaining I'd never had them. She was nice when I was booking, but never explained any care instructions or asked any allergy questions, etc. So I didn't think anything until I talked to my Mom the next morning, when I did that my mom mentioned oh , you realize you need to sleep on your back or side, you can't wear your mascara (which I have allergies so use a specific one), you also can't be in the pool everyday as it will damage them, etc. I called back hours before appt. to ask these questions & yes they were all correct. I was shocked, she also mentioned some kind of creme I'd need to put on every couple days if I'm going in pool to maintain them. I was shoked & scared at this point as what if I have reaction, ok no more mascara for me as I'll have to wear a special one you buy there & what if the creme every 2-3 days? I cancelled my appt. She reminded me there is a $25.00 cancellation fee, which I'm ok with, thought ok she'll take $25.00 from the living social deal or ask for my credit card for the $25.00. Nope nothing, she called living social, had the certiciate marked as used, the whole $99.00. Didn't even call or ask about me paying the $25.00, you want to give the deal to a friend that does do lashes, etc. I apologized for canceling & if I'd booked the appt in more than 24 hours I would of cancelled in more than 24 hours, but since the appt. was booked in less than 24 hour period I couldn't & truly I would of never booked the appt. in the beginning if simply she explained the care or asked simple lifestyle questions to better understand if they were for me. How I was to know all these things if I had never had them nor did I ever think to ask questions about will my sleeping style need to change or mascra or lifestyle of being in pool, washing my face, etc. She just needs to be more pro-active in talking about them when booking and appt. Then also nice when booking appt, but when cancelling she was really not nice at all & rude, which shocked me as I wasn't trying to cancel for no good reason & the $25 cancellation fee not a problem, but taking a whole $99 living social deal plus not ever explaining the details of the lashes when booking then being rude at cancellation, this is bad business to me. read more
