How have I missed writing a review of XES? Better late than never, especially as they celebrate their 10 year anniversary this month. Between the pandemic, pregnancy and life craziness (and let's face it - being the worst at self care), it's definitely been quite a while since I've gone in (in the past for events) but there have been a few times where I was lucky enough to get my eyebrows threaded. I love XES! Every time I walk in the door I am greeted with a warm welcome. The lounge has an ambiance that is inviting and relaxing. When I go in I can truly escape for a bit. I was able to forget my busy life for a minute during my facial and I fell asleep. The lounge offers waxing but I tried the Sugaring procedure and I immediately fell in love. My skin is very sensitive, and sugaring didn't cause me any issues in fact it left my skin very soft. I will definitely make sugaring part of my routine when I go to XES!! read more

Came here first visit, Christmas eve Eyelash Extension session and met the owner, she is so joyous and gracious, really great experience. I took advantage of their holiday $100 sale for full set. I wish I met her again the second time but it was not the case. After explaining to the receptionist, my issue on not coming in on my two week follow up for eyelash refill (sick), and was pushed for third week instead with no worries. I let the receptionist know my story, I did not want to be charged third week refill price. Unfortunately, she didn't use good judgement and charged me anyways, i thanked them for service and declined being rescheduled a third visit. Eyelash technician is very kind and nice here, very sweet and accommodating, but the products used here is not what I'm used too. Eyelashes are very hard, stiff though very pretty from outside perspective because I received compliments but just wasn't used to this lash brand. It burned putting/ getting a refill. Don't think that's normal from what I was used to getting. Overall great looking, clean and cozy salon. I find salon/spa sessions of non-priority for me and can definitely live w/out, though I would've definitely got a third refill if I received better customer service from receptionist. I have been coming here for bikini waxes for about a year. The salon itself is absolutely gorgeous and the staff has always been extremely nice. At salon Xes you have the option of using either hard or soft wax, which is perfect for me because I prefer hard wax, but I know it's different for everyone. The service is very prompt; I have never had to wait. Scheduling is easy with very convenient hours. You can also opt in to have emails/texts for reminders. The spa is also fully stocked with a wide variety of beauty products. I was very lucky to find this place. I moved to West Hartford from Boston and this salon is pretty much indistinguishable from a very pricey, metropolitan spa. Highly recommended. read more

I wanted to like this place. I really did. The interior is gorgeous. It has a super modern, lounge feel going on. It houses high end products and polishes (think NARS), and it was really wecloming. However. I came in before my wedding to have my eyebrows waxed. No big deal.... just wanted them shaped a little. It was a prrrooocesss. First, the owner told me that i didnt want them waxed, i wanted them threaded (more $). Ok, sure, ive never tried threading...heard good things... why not? So she came over and put some serum or numbing kind of cream around my brows to prep them for threading. Then, she comments on my skin and says, "oh Im just going to put some cream on your upper lip as well, you have some hair there." 1. i look in the mirror every day, i have no lip hair. And no, im not just saying that... i actually dont have any. Rather than say something i think to myself, oh she knows Im getting married at this point, shes just trying to touch things up, throw in a little extra attention. But never once did i ask for this or say anything other than i wanted an eyebrow wax. I actually remember saying, oh thats ok, i dont need that done. Fast forward to 15 minutes later. im done, and she charges me for both services, one of which i NEVER asked for. I was the only one in there and i felt like they were clearly pushing unecessary services to make the extra cash. Should have just gone to the nail salon. I also still get text messages from their text services alerting me of specials.... sigh. read more

I was SO impressed and happy with my brazilian wax with Chompa. She is AMAZING!!! Xes is very clean and beautifully decorated and you feel like you're at a spa when you walk in. I had been looking to find someone local to get my waxes from, as I had been previously going into the city to have them done. I am now a loyal customer to Xes and Chompa. It was the most pain-free wax I have ever had. Chompa was thorough, and quick. She used a combination of soft and hard wax to get the best results. I booked a Brazilian wax on June 3rd for 12:45 on line with Sonya. I made the appointment for the time I was going to be in town. I volunteer so I keep my phone on silent till I get out. At 12:00 I look at my phone and received a text that they had to change my appointment to 12 which was sent at 11:10. I also received a voicemail at 10:36 from Iris about my appointment that Sonia advising she doesn't come in today and that I normally don't book with her. If I could call back to rebook. I did call back and Iris advised that there where only appointments much later in the day. Which wouldn't work for me. I asked why no one contacted me earlier and she said the owner tried last week. Never received a call even checked my phone records. I want to say that Iris was very understanding and pleasant. Also the lady that has done my waxes has been excellent. She is not listed by name in the online booking only Sonia so that is who I thought I had been going to. Iris advised she would get Evelyn the owner to call me. Got a text from Evelyn advising that she had to change Sonia schedule and I would have to rebooked and that they tried to reach me. I sent a text explaining why my phone was on silent and that I didn't think it was great customer service calling/texting 2 hours from appointment time. If I had done that I would have been charged. She texted back to say that they are working under COVID restrictions. Not sure what that has to do with anything as we wear a mask and the state has opening most things up. After that I got a call from Evelyn telling me that it isn't their fault that they couldn't get a hold of me. She was defensive , rude and gave no apology. I advised that this had happened to me before when booking on FB and that the appointment didn't make it into the appointment book. Fortunately that time the receptionist called Evelyn and they got me in. Evelyn I think your staff is great but you as a owner are not. I have been a customer here for the past 3 yrs and still appreciate it as much as day 1. I am complimented on my eyebrows at least monthly, thanks to Champa. I do not trust anyone else with them. She takes her time and then the mini face/head massage at the end nearly puts me to sleep every time! I've also been going to her for all my waxing needs - she is always attentive, fast, hygenic, and the least painful person I've been to. I've referred friends and they all love her too. Evelyn, the owner is fantastic. She always works around my hectic schedule and fits me in. The facials she has given me clear my face up in just one session. I just fail at maintaining it but Evelyn is always there to the rescue! I have never walked out of here with crazy eyebrows like I have at other places!!!This place may be pricier than other places, but that is because they have great people working there who actually care about the work they do. To be completely honest, I took a brief hiatus from here for a while. I called to reschedule appointments prior to the day of my appointment only to get an answering machine. After I left a message, no one would call me back. I did speak with the owner about this upon my return and she assured me that the issue had been handled while I was "away" and would not happen again. I appreciated that she listened to my concern. They also have installed some sort of customer loyalty program which allows you to work up to getting discounts off your services -- this is a great addition, pretty cool! read more

They were prompt and educated me on the different types of facials and what they felt would be best for my skin. I felt like a new woman when they were done. My skin just felt so clean and purified. I was fortunate to visit Xes with my fellow Yelpers and receive complementary manicure and eyebrow threading. The salon is very modern and cool and, most importantly, clean! The staff were all super welcoming and friendly and you can tell they really know how to manage a lot of people. One of the coolest things I learned while there is that Xes hours are very flexible. They recognize that everyone works at all hours of every day. To that end they try to make themselves available when you need them - within reason of course. Initially I had such high hopes, I felt as if the owner was hearing my concerns and wants. The beautician then botched my eyebrows, it was their agenda-such thin eyebrows when I had expressed that I prefer the thick eyebrow/natural look. I came here for a Brazilian wax for my FIRST WAX ever. Also my first time at XES as well. I was so very pleased with everything the staff was a delight and the women whom waxed me was just so great and understanding being that I was freaking out just a little bit! I was very satisfied and will also be back Friday to get my eyebrows done. I have very thick eyebrows and like them to stay nice and thick, so it's been very difficult for me to find someone here in Connecticut to do my eyebrows the way I want them to be! I am from MA and recently relocated to CT. I was looking for a closer salon to get Brazilian waxes. I like hard wax not strips and this place uses some exotic wax which left me with ingrown hairs days after...ALOT of ingrown hairs which they promised me the wax prevents them. For my sisters 30th birthday, 4 of us went to XES beauty lounge and were all treated like it was our birthday. In addition to our selected services of massages, manicures, pedicures and my fantastic hydrating facial (from Evelyn, herself) we received complimentary hand and arm massages while we transitioned from our services AND we were hooked up with champagne and gluten free cupcakes to celebrate. Even when we needed to stall before bringing my sister to her surprise party, Evelyn and her staff gave her a little impromptu makeup session to ensure she looked good when she arrived to her party. I went to Xes spa to get my massage with Stella. It was phenomenal !! I also had the opportunity to get my eyebrows done. I have never had them done in my life and was skeptical to alter the natural state of my eyebrows. I decided to try it and WOW-what a difference. I've been going to Xes Spa for just over a year for waxing services, but over this past weekend, I had the true pleasure of checking several of their other services. Specifically, I brought my friend in for some Spa time in order to help celebrate her birthday. Our entire experience was amazing! In addition to waxing, I also had eyebrow threading. While I've had my eyebrows threaded at least a dozen times at other places, this is the first time I've had them done by Champa (who also does the waxing services). She did a really great job and I believe this is the best my brows have ever come out. I also enjoyed a deluxe manicure and pedicure at Xes spa and they were both wonderful. Too often, it seems like I get a mani/pedi at other places and it's just not the relaxing experience that it could be. That was not the case at Xes Spa - it was true pampering and the foot and leg massage felt incredible. While I was having the waxing and threading done, my friend had a massage and body scrub. She looked like a wet noodle when she was done - she was completely relaxed. The spa did a great job of timing our services so that we were able to have our manis and pedis side-by-side at the same time. Beyond the highly professional and skillful services at Xes Spa, I think it's important to comment on the atmosphere in general. Xes continues to soar here as well. The spa is uber clean, very chic, smells great (but subtle), the music is relaxing and the staff is terrific. As my friend and I were sitting in our chairs getting pedicures, the owner brought us a glass of champagne, cheese/crackers and shrimp cocktail. What?! Simply amazing. I will no longer be going back because of the owner evelyn who is rude every time I speak to her and has an attitude. That's not how a business owner should act. After being escorted to the treatment room, I was made to feel at ease and before I knew it, it was over! I recently moved to the Hartford area from Boston. I found this place on yelp and decided to go for a Brazilian wax based on the reviews. Overall I am very satisfied. I have already been twice. The initial appointment is pricey, but the service is great. The follow up appointment 4-6 weeks later was significantly cheaper. Upon arriving, I was offered a glass a wine from the owner and a numbing cream to make the process less painful. Chompa is great and does both hard and soft waxes. Champa (pronounced "Shompah") is the Brazilian wax queen. I have been going to Xes for a few months and recently had to go somewhere else due to a scheduling conflict. I switched back to Xes immediately because I haven't found anyone as good as Champa. She's extremely sweet, very detailed and great at sugaring.
