Last summer, we had a break-in at our condo entrance, and found a need for a Full Length Interlocking Door Guard. (Highly recommended as burglars love to shimmy a screwdriver between your door and lock & open into your place easier than a SPAM can.) Pro Video Security let us select the guard. They gave a great bid to put install. We even chose to do 2 doors, given their great rate. Flash forward to 6 months later we found a small (but significant) installation error on one of the doors. Rather than haggle and hassle, they came right out and fixed it at ZERO extra cost. (As expected.) On top of that: The fix came right on time. We caught this picture of a rather infamous trio (USPS is after them) trying to break in and being foiled by the door guard. SEE PIC.

I wanted to be able to keep a watch on the dogs and also of course on my house in general. I bought the equipment from Provideo and I am all the way in California, so I had a local person install the equipment for me, and Perry took over the remote customer service, which has been far above and beyond what anybody could ever expect from customer service. If anything goes wrong, he is right there ready to help me fix it and get it up and running again. I could probably find someone locally, but there is no way I would ever find such great, friendly, knowledgeable customer service. So wherever you are in the world, these guys are the best!     I had hope to discuss this with the "upper management" but no one returned my calls after my…read morestrange and unpleasant visit from the locksmith they sent. After not getting a reply to my inquiry via their website, I called and told the woman who answered exactly what I needed (two doors needing one deadbolt on each, new holes drilled). She told me the service fee was $29 and that a locksmith would call me back. It did not take long for a locksmith named "Ron" to call me and offered to come that day. I told him exactly what I needed and he quoted me $185 per door plus $80 per lock. I agreed. I said "Plus the $29 service fee?" He said he'd waive that if he did the job. He arrived several hours later and at first said he couldn't do the job I asked (door too thin) and tried to convince me of other options but then decided he in fact could do the job. At that point he said $289 per door and $80 per lock! I said we agreed on $185 and he claimed he had said "starting at $185" which is not true because if he did, I would have asked more questions. He told me that this new price was the going rate, and that it's not much more than he originally quoted ($200 more) and eventually asked if $269 per door would be acceptable instead. I said no. He told me to think about it and I agreed. But at this point, his friendly demeanor was gone. I had planned to ask for a quote for a less pressing job (switching out doorknobs to the original antique ones removed years ago). He said it was impossible and that I must have new doors. I was perplexed because these were the original doors and he decided to "show me why it wouldn't work" by removing the handles/lock from one door but stayed silent with no replies as I asked him clarification questions. At that point he said I owed him $169 for the service fee "because he had done work." I said I didn't ask him to remove the handles/lock and that the service fee quoted was only $29. He was very angry at this point and asked me what I wanted to pay. I said I'd pay the $29 (just to get him to leave as the tension was very uncomfortable at this point). I Zelle'd Ron the $29 and at that point, I realized the money was going to "SafeKey" (his own business) thanks to this name on the Zelle account and not going to "North Shore Locksmith." I called North Shore Locksmith after he left and the guy who answered wouldn't help me understand why SafeKey had come instead of North Shore Locksmith but assured me that "upper management" would call me back. The next day, no return call. I called North Shore Locksmith again in the morning and again near end of day, each time the person telling me someone would call me back and days later, still no call. Very odd "bait-and-switch" incident where North Shore Locksmith gave my job to a random locksmith, who in turn, "baits-and-switches" on his quoted costs, pretending there was a misunderstanding on the initial quote. I had hoped this was all a misunderstanding with North Shore Locksmith but since North Shore Locksmith won't contact me, I'll never know. Since then, I've gotten quotes from other area locksmiths who are more affordable than even Ron's initial quote.

Perhaps he is of Irish heritage, I never had the opportunity to find out 1) I have seen over 300 photographs of his work This man is the very BEST if you are only looking for a handyman or have no assistance from even an essentially useless husband in the paint or a long hair clogged shower drain 2) Shay is a LIAR I appreciate that he was willing to drive out to The suburbs of Chicago from all the way East in Logan Square His estimate is NOT free as Yelp guaranteed He requires photographs (easy peasy) of the locks as well as *$45* to even come out to take a look He broke the Yelp Guarantee right there Chicago Locksmiths should be banned from Yelp same as nobody should have voted for Trump.     The guy they sent to install my system didn't complete the installation because he was too lazy…read more That was 2 1/2 years ago and Brinks finally sent someone to fix everything. Last night was the first night I could sleep knowing my security system was working. It has been 2 1/2 years of bull crap and excuse excuses and circumventing completing the installation while I have been paying for this system all this time because of a contract. I never had this problem with ADT or with Ackerman. I was always covered. This was a huge waste of my money for 2 1/2 years being charged $50 a month

The sensors fell off a couple of times, triggered the alert and brought us back home from far away. The response time from monitoring is also not as fast as they promise. What really made me angry and motivated me to write a review is their tech support. I bought a garage sensor online and wanted to add it to the system, then we realized there is no adding sensor option on the panel which is supposed to have per their instructions online. Ok, here came the nightmare - we called their number at least 3 times per week, all have been transferred to tech support with no one ever picking up my call nor calling me back after I chose the callback option and left my phone number. The tricky part is the whole things happened one month before the cancellation became effective. And yea at this time, the service already got cancelled and the sensor is never added to the system. I called to their customer service department asking how you can help me add in the sensor, but the head of customer service Amber White kept telling me it is not their responsibility and they don't owe me anything since I canceled the service and not their customer anymore. Excuse me!!?? the sensor adding thing happened weeks before cancellation. And this Amber White also told me I only have one choice which is to reactivate the service with a 36-month contract. Are you kidding me?? I would never ever use your service again. In addition to that, I'll spread my words as much as possible to keep people from choosing your service. And I trust the power of Internet a lot :)
