Rude and unacceptable service from management. I was merely requesting a signal boost as a 15 yr customer who had never had an issue. I explained the signal began dropping calls and not putting outgoing calls through. The Manager told me "You're crazy" and hung up on me. I called back and was told "We're a franchise, I don't have to help you." He hung up. I called back and he had blocked my number. I cancelled my Mother's plan and transferred mine elsewhere. I had a very disappointing experience at this Verizon location. The manager (his name sorry I couldn't pronounce it is like Meiaun/Meine/Mion) told us that we were required to purchase insurance in order to buy a new iPhone. He insisted that without insurance, he "couldn't sell us the phone." This didn't sound right, so we went to a different Verizon corporate store and spoke to another manager -- who confirmed what we suspected: that was completely false. Insurance is optional and not required to purchase a phone. Because of this dishonest experience, we are now switching providers entirely. It's frustrating that years of being loyal customers are ending this way, but we refuse to deal with misleading sales tactics. Its 6/20 @ 11:20am, I just left this store with 2 of the worst female associates I have ever encointered in my life. VZ business customer returning 1 modem and wanted to add phone service but 1. Associate had an attitude I didnt have an email copy of all my paperwork readily available and she had to look my account up another way. 2. Explained I had been on the phone wiyh VZ Business Line for over 2 hours and they told me to come to store I picked up modem at. 3. Said they wouldnt waive a restock fee and said "we can call with you to VZ but thats all we do." Another female rep came up with same unhelpful attitude and said I was "talking at her and my bad situation was not her fault" then told me I could leave the store. The staff was extremely rude, and even attempted to be intimidating. I apologized for coming so late, and I know they just wanted to get out of there. However, they were still very much on the clock. The phone customer service is awful for Verizon. After being on the phone at home for hours on three separate occasions, I walked into the Verizon store ready switch to another carrier. Eli was very calm and helpful. He was able to get me the credit for mailing back my old phone within minutes. He also helped me choose an updated plan and decrease my monthly amount by removing services that I never used and using online banking, something no one else ever discussed with me. This was the worst customer service I have ever received from a Verizon store. I have been a dedicated Verizon customer for over a decade and today's experience may be my tipping point to leave. After finding the Evanston store was permanently closed, my family and I ventured to the Lincolnwood store. We assumed it was larger and would be just a good, if not better, than our small local shop. It was not. We were greeted and checked in, but told to wait even though the store was not busy. As we browsed, we were followed around the store. After seeing several team members talking to each other and making eye contact, I approached them to see if one could help me. On said yes and then he proceeded to rush as fast as he could through the purchase. He never introduced himself or asked us if we had any questions. It felt like they wanted us out of the store as quickly as possible. I have NEVER purchased a new phone in-store and not had it set up on site. Here I was told it would take 3 hour to transfer my data to my new phone and that I should probably do it at home. He rushed through instructions (that I don't remember) and rang up my payment. It has NEVER taken longer than about 15-20 minutes to transfer my data. I use my phone for business calls and texting only. He did not even attempt to connect my phone or open the box to show me the phone and ensure it wasn't damaged. My phone and other items were placed in a bag and given to me as my agent walked away to begin whispering with his manager. No thank you for your business, no business card provided in case I needed assistance with set up, and no please come back. I observed a different agent pleasantly offering to set up another woman's iPhone as he opened the box to show her the new phone. I will not return to this store. And I will discourage others in my company (all Verizon users)from giving their business to this store. I am sad that the Evanston store has closed as they provided the customer service I am accustomed to and I never felt racially profiled or rushed, even when they were busy. The experience was so poor I considered immediately returning the purchase to void any commission given to this site. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before coming in to this store. Eli at this store was absolutely AMAZING. I came in after hours and hours on the phone with customer service(worst experience) I was just about ready to switch to T-Mobile. Customer service was trying to charge me for a service extender almost $300 after customer service telling me it would be free of charge. Eli was at the Verizon store and was able to help me speak with customer service for 1.5 hours! He was so patient with me and helping me figure out how to talk to customer service. He took time out of his day to genuinely help me out. Other customers were coming in to purchase plans and phones and Eli sat there with me for nearly 2 hours to help figure out a solution to Verizon's awful customer service issues on my account. We drove to the Verizon store at Lincolnwood Center yesterday to find out why my wife's Samsung Galaxy S5 was acting up. Since I had been to the store for problems I had in the past, I knew that Fabian and his great group of technicians would get everything right. We met with Fabian the manager. I am adding this review to the local store, because I can't review Verizon Corporate. We recently switched to T-Mobile, something I highly recommend all Verizon customers look at doing. T-Mobile includes all fees and taxes in their own home plan pricing. Anyway, before switching I called Verizon twice and was told that I'd be able to arrange monthly payments to pay off the balances on two of my phones. The second agent told me to call back after the bill cycled. When I called, and was put into contact with the correct department, I was told that we could no longer make monthly payments. The best they could do was three no-weekly payments. The supervisor said she was not responsible for what the agents on the phone told me. So sorry, too bad for you. For what little good it will do, I will be filing a complaint with the BBB, any other places I can think of.... This is the closest thing that I can think of to a "bait and switch" scheme. The phone agents can make up anything they want to say to a customer, but when a customer acts on what they were told, someone else from Verizon can say oops, no not true, and Verizon doesn't care that you were given incorrect information. To add more insult to injury, when I try to log into my Verizon account, I get a message that Verizon is updating its website. I am supposed to be able to at least see my bill, but even that option doesn't work. I can't even see my bill, so it appears that Verizon might be trying to rip me off, and I wouldn't have any way of knowing if the final bill is correct or not. I can't make an online payment or change my payment options. This is a complete rip-off. Update from 12/9/19: I received a call from Jessica in Executive Relations. I was very impressed, she had done her homework, so to speak, before contacting me. She sent copies of the bill to me, and explained how they arrived at what I still owed Verizon. Go here if you enjoy being told one thing and receiving another. You will go in and get a phone. You will be told a specific monthly price for said phone. You will be told your work discount pricing will remain in effect for your renewed data plan. You'll walk away thinking everything's great and expect your bill to increase a small amount. What you will come to find out is that this scenario is some kind of dream, and is not in fact your reality. Your bill will increase by $40/month, despite remaining on the same measly data plan and purchasing a phone that is supposedly only $10/month. You will spend hours contacting Verizon customer support 4 times, until you are finally told there is essentially no way to receive the pricing that was promised to you in the store. You will feel frustrated and question why you ever decided to renew with Verizon when your gut was telling you to go to t-mobile or to I don't know, throw your phone in the lake perhaps. read more

I have been with Verizon for almost 12 years and it's like being in a dysfunctional marriage. Now I know you're wondering why I'm still with them. Well I did actually leave them once and tried AT&T, but I had issues with them downloading stuff to my phone overnight and then charging it against my super expensive, tiered data plan. Verizon still had the unlimited data plan then so I had to go back to them. (Damn those tiered data plans!) But this is a review of the Lincolnwood store.... I renewed my contract at the Lincolnwood store. My husband and I got the HTC Incredibles (they suck). We have had problems with them since day 1. I brought them back to the store and after they played with the phones, they said they couldn't recreate the issues so there was nothing they could do. They did a factory reset - which according to the supervisor who is also a technological genius - resetting them usually fixes problems on phones that "act up". However, she neglected to tell us the reset would wipe out everything on the phones. So we then spent 3 hours reloading all of our data and syncing up all of our accts on them and getting new apps. Months later, they are still "acting up" but they are getting even worse now. So we went in again today. I told them I just wanted them to replace the phones. I wasn't even asking for new phones - the same ones just ones that worked. Again, the technological genius supervisor said we were pretty much imagining the problems and all she could do was reset the phones. But not before she asked if we tried turning them on & off? (if you have ever seen the IT Crowd, you can understand why we had to laugh at her moronic question) So after we walked out while counting to 10 (actually more like 100), we called customer service and I explained everything. The first thing they asked was why wouldn't she just replace the phones? THIS WAS MY QUESTION FOR THEM! In the end we have 2 new phones (Incredible 2) being overnighted to us. I know the Incredibles suck but they can't suck more than the non-working ones we have now. As much as I would love to quit Verizon, if we want to avoid a tiered data plan, we have to stay. I have sold my soul to the devil for unlimited data. But if I ever need anything that even resembles customer service (or common sense) I will be sure to NEVER go to the Lincolnwood store again. read more

When I first went in to upgrade my iphone, I went to this location because it was closest to me. NEVER AGAIN. Initially, when I went in everything was great, I was helped promptly by one of the associates who explained the apple contract. This was my first time getting this plan as I was just coming out of the two year contract. Long story short, I was told the only charges I would get was the phone plus protection fee. I knew this sounded too good to be true so I kept asking the associate if there was ANY other fee. I was reassured those were the only fees I would have to pay. I was later informed by my dad to check if there was a line fee because the phone plus protection didn't sound right to him either. The next day I received an automated text message from "Valerie the general manager" saying "thanks for visiting us and let me know if there's anything I can do to help". I sent a text specifically asking her to verify if there was a line charge in addition to the phone plus protection and the response I got said "The only thing I see on the bill is phone + protection" So needless to say I just got my phone bill and there was definitely a line charge. Verizon customer care said they couldn't help because it was a store issue. Verizon didn't understand why they would flat out lie like that. I got connected to the actual store's manager, who was not "Valerie" and he was very unsympathetic and refused to even admit that his employees screwed up, even though I have written evidence that explicitly said there was no line charge. To make matters worse, the manager was very condescending and had the nerve to say "Did you even look at your phone bill?" and "There's always a line charge" which honestly, he needs to tell that to his employees because they're the ones who gave me false information. There's no accountability anywhere and now I'm stuck with the bill. If you can avoid it, don't go here. read more

The manager Gunnar is top notch here! I had a recent stalking situation :( where an ex-boyfriend had tapped my phone with GPS. I was freaked out about the situation, but even more upset that I would have to buy a new iPhone for $300+ in order to remove the tap. Gunnar overheard me talking to the sales rep about this, and he offered to send me a new iPhone for free. A few days later, when my new phone arrived via mail, he even personally helped me transfer over to my new phone and number number safely. I'm a huge fan of Verizon Wireless. I've worked with other cell companies for work phones, but have almost always chosen Verizon for personal use. I once left Verizon for the promise of something better at another company, yet still chose to return to Verizon as soon as my other contract was up. That's why it pained me so much when I realized that I got little to no signal with my Verizon phone in Lake Forest. Since I'm now using my phone a lot for work, there was little I could do except cancel VZW and switch to AT&T. Since I still had almost a year left on my contact with VZW, I expected a hassle when trying to cancel and I really expected to be charged the early termination fees. I was so pleasantly surprised when I walked into the VZW store in Lincolnwood, explained my situation, and was told, "Oh, no problem." WHAT?! The manager knew from first-hand experience that the VZW signal sucks in Lake Forest and easily allowed me to cancel my contract without any fees. It was so extremely easy that I felt even guiltier as I walked across the mall hallway to sign up for a contract with AT&T. I can only hope that AT&T will treat me as well as Verizon has over the years. read more

It is as if the employees at this store dread the arrival of a customer. I have no idea who I was dealing with, he didn't bother to introduce himself. I came to the store to purchase a new phone and rather than having the opportunity to have dialog with someone who I hoped would be helpful in comparing key differences in phone specs, the conversation was one-sided and getting information was like pulling teeth. Ultimely, he indicated that they didn't have the phone(s) I was interested in and said I could come back tomorrow and they would have it... giving no details on when he expected the phone to be in, no offer to call me when they get it (after all, we are talking about a phone)...no basic customer service. I WILL NOT be returning tomorrow. I will drive the extra miles to a different store that hopefully has better service and if that doesn't work, I have no problem finding an alternate retailer. Read the other one star reviews, and then stay away from this place. I went in and purchased a $250 booster and Gizmo watch for my daughter paying cash. The sales guy saw my Veterans ID, and explicitly told me I could get AN ADDITIONAL 15% discount on top of the 22% employee discount I already had. Ok, spoke to my SO about this, and hubby says "Don't do it! He's scamming you! They can't apply multiple discounts." So, I tell the employee "No, we're not going to add the Veteran discount." He assures me nothing was changed. I also specifically told him NOT to add any insurance for a Gizmo watch I paid $30 for. He agreed that wouldn't be added. I didn't walk to my car before my husband got a text informing him that a $10 a month charge for insurance was added. I walked back in the store, and said employee stated it "must have been a text asking if we wanted it on the new product purchase." Lie #1. About an hour later, my husband checks the account, and lo and behold, said employee changed our plan from a specific employee 22% discount plan to a 15% Veteran plan. Lie #2. I spent hours, literally on the phone with Customer Service trying to get this restored back to the way it was before I walked into that awful store. The only charge I should have received in my plan was a $5 a month charge for the Gizmo, and no other charges or changes. I finally had a Customer Service Agent listen in on a conversation (that I presumed was with the Manager, but later found out when I returned to that store to return my $250 booster was THAT EMPLOYEE THAT DID ALL THIS. Lie #3) I had with the "Manager", who admitted to making the changes and stated he would correct it within 24 hours. He also admitted he might have mistakenly added the insurance. Great-Customer Service realizes what's going on, and credits my account $40 for THIS STORE'S "SUPPOSED" MISTAKES. Yeah, no mistakes there-these changes were deliberate. You know, "It's better to ask for forgiveness than it permission" type of mentality, along with zero integrity. To make a long, drawn out story and situation short, my account could not be restored to its previous state without my having to go through the whole employee validation process again (which I refuse to do WHEN IT WAS THIS STORE AND A REPRESENTATIVE OF VERIZON that made unauthorized changes and charges. Why am I inconvenienced when it was done without my consent? No, it's the principal of this matter now), I wasted hours of my time trying to fix what this store's employee changed, and when I went back to this store, returning my booster, and confronting the Manager (which is when I found out that the recorded phone with Customer Service listening in the previous day was NOT A MANAGER AT ALL, but the employee who made all of the unauthorized charges and changes), which resulted in my walking out more angry and frustrated by the situation because she made excuse after excuse for her employee's egregious conduct. This store, and the employees and Manager, are dishonest, lack professional courtesy and really give Verizon a bad name and reputation. You've been warned. Don't go here, don't give this store business, and whatever you do, DO NOT let them have access to your account. I had one of the best customer service experiences I've had in a long time with an associate at this store, and I felt compelled to write a review to share my experience with customers of this store, the associate, and Verizon. The associate's name is Fahad Bershed. My girlfriend and I decided to stop into the store at 7:30PM on Wednesday, 10/12/16, to add my phone to her Verizon Wireless account and cancel my service with AT&T. I had called AT&T two weeks prior to ensure I wouldn't run into any issues when we decided to make the change. Fahad helped us with this task, and we soon experienced some difficulty. It seems that AT&T forgot to inform me that I had to request that my phone be unlocked so the phone number could be ported over, prior to visiting the store. As I continued to navigate the hoops AT&T made me jump through, Fahad remained calm and helped me through the whole process, even as we were at the store for 45 minutes after the store had closed. I'm glad I made the switch to Verizon, and very glad Fahad was the person that helped me make it happen. Thanks for all the help! read more

I made the mistake of going to this Verizon store instead of the one I usually use down the street. One of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had from the moment I walked into the store. Bilal should not work with people, and Verizon will be losing my business after 20 years of them being my cellphone service provider because of Bilal. Bilal greeted me with a "hello," and I acknowledged him with a head nod. Bilal then asked in a rude and condescending tone, as if I should not be there and was an inconvenience to him socializing with the girl employee that was sitting in the chair next to him near the entrance, "what do you need?" I told Bilal that I needed to buy a phone, and his reply was again, rude and as if I was interrupting him for walking into the store. Bilal said, "Give me your number and my guy will get to you when he has time." Keep in mind, the tone and attitude is awful. I walked away surprised with how he was talking to me. I decided to talk to him about it, and I said to Bilal, "Good customer service could go a long way, ya know." I think it was within earshot of the girl employee he was trying to impress, so he puffed out his chest and got defensive. He started to deflect responsibility for the way he was talking to me, and he verbally attacked me. I told Bilal that I don't have to be here, and I am a Verizon customer with options. Bilal's response to me was, "I don't care. I don't need you here." That is when I walked out of the store. No iPhone purchase for me at Verizon with that disrespectful experience. I would give this store 0 stars if I could! My phone was overheating at time and has been warm to the touch lately. Sometimes even hot to the touch. Spoke with a member of the team who was going to do a warranty swap. He had to get approval from his manager. His manager ZIHAD stated that he needed to do a factory reset first. This store helped back up my data or did they!!!!! They then reset my phone....... Yep.... You guessed it. Everything GONE!!!! On top of this the Service Manager ZIHAD was rude,confrontational, and tried to blame everyone but himself for the problem. So Verizons running a promo and these guys are Jerks about it. Each customer that I saw walked out furious because these guys were adding their own made up stipulations to the promo. All this was observed by me because They made me wait 45 minutes just to see if they evan had a device in Stock! The customer reps are rude and don't like to honor rebates or promos Verizon has posted for its customers. They should fire these reps or train them how to handle specials and promos correctly. Review is for customer service only. Came in to the store just to pick up an online purchase. Store was not that busy. I went to the pick up counter where there were two associates and no one acknowledged me so I sat myself down. Maybe they were busy so I waited 5mins-not bad. I had to approach them to actually acknowledge me. Checked my ID and gave me my purchase. I asked them to assist with the set up for the phone. The female associate gave me to sheets of paper and told me to follow instructions. She nicely explained that they don't don't assist with phone set ups anymore... Took out one an extra star because I happened to pass by another Verizon store and asked to if they assist with phone set up with online purchase and they assisted me with no hesitation. read more
