Place was closed when they were suppose to be open. Really annoying... Came back the next day and there seemed to be a lot of people there waiting so I was nervous. But the service was friendly and fast! I'm pretty pleased.

"...as I entered the store, I turned on the timer on my phone. It was exactly 27:24.73 seconds before my number was called."

Recently Toronto mayor, Rob Ford made headlines by publicly admitting that he has smoked crack. In the spirit of Mayor Ford's confession, I too would like to come clean about my own crack use. But here's the thing. I don't remember smoking crack and to the best of my knowledge, I've never even seen crack. Still, the fact that I was high on crack is the only plausible explanation I can come up with for my 12/24/2012 four-star review of the Comcast store. Yes, clearly I was high on crack and for that, I apologize. Since my original review, I have returned to the Comcast store twice - both times sober - and received the level of help that you would expect to receive from Comcast, in a word, craptastic. The first time I returned, several weeks ago, I immediately felt a sense of trepidation as I entered the parking lot only to observe not a single open parking space and in fact, cars double parked, just so some poor passenger could go into the store and begin the death march to a customer support agent. I was fairly lucky. I managed to grab a *real* parking spot, but I didn't keep it for long. I walked into the store, grabbed a ticket from the ticket spitter, surveyed the landscape, computed my estimated wait, decided I didn't have that sort of time available and bailed. This weekend I returned. The parking lot was not entirely full and neither was my schedule. Still, my hopes were not high, so as I entered the store, I turned on the timer on my phone. It was exactly 27 minutes, 24.73 seconds before my number was called. Less than a half hour, but entirely unacceptable in my opinion. Look, for all intents and purposes, Comcast has a complete monopoly in Seattle. The fact that they only have one store for the entire city shows that the company is really only committed to providing the absolutely minimal service level possible. The fact that the store is so poorly staffed only confirms the fact. When my number was finally called, I approached the counter and a very nice guy welcomed me and thanked me for waiting. Being a bit grumpy and not very gracious, I replied with "What choice did I have?" I immediately regretted my snark, but he seemed to take it in stride. If it wasn't for his good spirit, this would be a one star review. My entire transaction took less than 5 minutes at which point I was headed to the door, but not before I noted that the number of people waiting in the lobby had easily doubled from the time I had entered. The people just walking in were easily looking at an hour long wait at that point. Unbelievable. Shame on Comcast and shame on the City of Seattle's Office of Cable Communications for allowing this sort of service level to become standard operating procedure. Unfortunately, with the recent mayoral election of Ed Murray, who accepted boatloads of money from Comcast (http://wapo.st/180DoRv), it seems unlikely that things will improve anytime soon.

Throwing these guys a bone because it can't be that easy to work for Comcast. Also, there's only like two Comcast locations in Seattle (that I know of), so of course there's going to be lines and stuff. I've only been here a handful of times over the years, and I really have no complaints. My visits usually consist of me returning TV equipment (modems, routers, etc.) after I end an apartment lease or something. The customer service professionals have all been nice to me, but I suppose I have never come to ask for refunds/discounts or deal with faulty equipment or whatever else it is people complain about with Comcast. You pick up a ticket (like at the deli) when you walk in, which categorizes you into queues. I came mid-day on a weekday and I think I waited like 15 minutes. It wasn't that bad.

I am far from a professional when it comes to IT installations, but I know enough to be dangerous. And after getting quotes to install ethernet in my 1980s circa home, one never wired for ethernet, one that just went through a significant renovation where I, in my supreme wisdom said "WiFi is great, now! Who need hardwires anymore?" was now faced with retrofitting several rooms and office with ethernet and said, this guy over here, the independent with a normal sounding company name, yeah - lets go with him! Mistake!! After schedule, and reschedule, and delays, and reschedule, we got nowhere with contractor number one. Meanwhile, Roberto and Peter at Those Tech Guys had patiently followed up several times, continued to be pleasant and professional, and AFTER I said no thank you I am going to go with someone else! So I made the dreaded call back - "So remember when I said if things change . . . " Peter was quick to jump on the phone, and walk me through things at every step. Gave me a highly competitive bid, and an install time of only a few days from when I called. They cam onsite, were clean courteous, and efficient. They played with my dog (I mean who doesn't love a bowling ball Staffy Bull Terrier mix?) and made light work of the install, and the final cost (with tip!) was even below the initial quote. This was made possible as Peter walked my home and together we found opportunities to do things more quickly, and save a few dollars along the way. In the end, I didn't choose Those Tech Guys first, but you should. No regrets here, other than I should have picked them first!

Not knowing what was happening, I called the Folks at Signal Services to ask if they could help. I spoke with their main operational head who explained that my fire alarms were old (beyond their 10 year life) and needed replacement. Within a few days I had replaced all of our smoke detectors with the latest edition - problem solved. SO WHY am I writing this review. Because the guys at Signal Services didn't have to walk me through what was happening and how to fix it. They didn't get paid, had plenty of other things to be doing that day, but took the time to help me out for free. With that, they earned a 5 star review and my pledge to use them again in the future if I ever need services that they offer. I contacted Alee with HiTek Telecom to get a quote on a complete network job for my home. Not only do my spouse that I work from home, but I also do a lot of photography and video that I transfer back-and-forth on my network and into the cloud. I was tired of poor and drop connections with my consumer level Wi-Fi system. In addition, I wanted a local security camera system that I can control without relying on a cloud service. After receiving a quote and agreeing on the scope of work, I scheduled the installation. Alee came out on time on the date scheduled and we walked through the plan of installation and confirmed what all my needs were. Alee and his team worked through the day and completed the install job in an incredibly professional manner. The installation and the cable runs, and all of the final product was exactly as described. After the install, Alee walked me through downloading all of the software that I needed, how to access and navigate the system, how to navigate and operate the security cameras, and ensure that everything was working properly. To be sure, this was a relatively large install for a residential application. I wanted ethernet drops in every room of my house, a new professional grade network cabinet, in-ceiling WIFi network, and a new suite of security cameras. I couldn't have asked for a better end product. I am quite pleased with the attention to detail of the install and making sure everything was perfect, workmanlike, and care was taken in my home. Alee came back out to adjust a couple of things for me after the fact and install an additional camera. Again, he was on time on the scheduled day. The workmanship was just as good and the communication has been stellar throughout. I truly can't recommend HiTek and Alee enough. Top-notch product and top-notch service.
