Miss Salpy has been cutting my hair now for about 5 years, I learned of her work via my sister who has been coming here to XIV for a number of years. My hair design(?), cut has changed over those 5 years and Salpy has come along with me: adding her own touches and knowledge about hair cutting along with her. The shop here is kind of a throwback to the 70's in that it is a noisy with women laughing, eating sweets and generally having a good time. Yes, there are men here both as operators and customers which adds to the pleasant mix of cultures and genders. All of the Ladies and Dudes who work here are very nice and treat everyone with respect . As opposed to a more contemporary Salon, XIV is like having my hair cut in someone's living room: lots of bonhomie, cups of Armenian coffee and sometimes slabs of pastry from Valley Bakery across the street. XIV sits on a spot on Kenneth Road which is a very bustling part of North Glendale. Parking is on Kenneth Road and on side streets. They also do Nails here and there is a Facial/Massage room. Love this salon - Ruzan is the best! :) It took me forever to find someone who can handle my hair and actually listens when I tell them how much to cut and doesn't go overboard. Ruzan does all of these things and I always leave feeling refreshed with the perfect haircut! Pricing is very fair and they offer all services here including facials and nails. i dont know if its a race issue but ive always felt being treated as a third class at this salon. rozan does a decent job with color but the hair cut is so mediocre. i usually go to her when my regular hair dresser is unavailable. sadly my regular hairdresser retired and the last time i went to this place, i noticed another hairdresser at this salon working on a girl and i was so impressed with the hairstyle ( i have the same hair as the girl - hard to manage) this is the hairstyle ive always wanted and the hairstyle i sported for a long time but since my hairstylist retired, i havent met anyone who knows how to handle my hair and cut in this style , rozan never knew how to do this. i have tried so many times to ask her to cut my hair in this style but she was never able to even come close to it. so as i watch this hairstylist worked on this girl, i kinda hesitated at first to ask if he can do my hair the same way but he refused saying that he wouldnt do it in respect for rozan. which i sorta understand. i was sad because the only hairstylist i witnessed who's able to do the hairstyle ive always wanted. so i gathered the nerve to ask rozan herself if i can get a cut from this guy who works for her... she sounded like she was offended, and sad to say i failed at my attempt for a chance of a cut from this guy who worked for rozan, which i kinda expected and maybe it was my bad to even ask. but how ive always felt everytime i see rozan, she never attended to me anyways like how a hairstylist should treat a valued customer. she only touched my hair to put the color then she'd have her assistant do the rest, then she'd come back to after she finished doing her other clients' hair and do a little snip here and there for less than five minutes then make me wait for another 20 minutes for her assistant to finally blow dry my hair then charge me 200 hundred dollars. i finally had enough of this kind of service and finally took a chance to try another stylist at a different salon. im still getting charged for the same amount around 200. dollars for color and cut but at least this time around the stylist does my hair from beginning to end and im a little happier with the work. i hope rozan stops doing this kinda treatment to people outside of her race because this is not the way one should do business. 2 thumbs down on service read more

I love this place!!! I have been going to Ruzan since I was 12 years old, approximately 16 years. She is amazing. She knows what she's doing and never goes against the clients wishes. She's not like other hairstylists who chop off your hair or are moody. The environment is super friendly and inviting. My mom has been going to her for years as well. I've been going to Ruzan since I first started coloring my hair. I've gone from blonde to red to black and back to blonde and than finally back to black and my hair is as healthy as can be! She makes sure she doesn't ever damage your hair. Everyone at the salon is so sweet! The girls that do nails are great and Karmen who does eyebrows is AMAZING! The salon is so beautiful! All in all I love this Salon and would highly recommend it! You will definitely get the full treatment here. She charged me $150 for literally a 2 min hair cut and didn't even look like I got a hair cut. Orange highlights and roots. Will never return to this place again. I wouldn't fall for the nice looking salon. I hate my highlights and now I have to look for someone to fix it. Oh and damaged my hair with their cheap bleach. Not a great job for a supposed highlight specialist. I should have never paid and walked away!!!! read more
