Following the suggestions of another Yelp person, I preserved the following: 1) Appetizer: Mouta belle - damn good; humus - ok, but not great. 2) Drink: Ginger, mint, apple juice. I'm in London for a few weeks for business and Ya Hala has become my go to spot to pick up lunch or dinner. The restaurant is cute and interesting. They have some fun caricatures of movie characters up basically telling you to ear there and they're all fun to check out. The lamb shwarma has become my favorite and at only £3.50 it's an easy item to keep going back for. read more

A solid little restaurant right near Paddington Station. Has a nice array of meal options. The food was very tasty and well-priced. We had some hummus and falafel appetizers. I had a marinated chicken wrap, which was very good. The whole meal came out to about 30 squids, so 10 apiece for a flavorful meal isn't bad. Service wasn't super speedy but it was pleasant and fast enough that I wasn't really bothered. I live in the area but seldom eat out around here. I've become slightly addicted to this place after a friend introduced it to me a few weeks ago. There are so many Lebanese restaurants in the Paddington area but I'm quite glad this clean, tasty and cheap option is right around the corner. I'd eventually like to work my way through all the vegetarian options on the menu, but so far I keep getting the same few things due to cravings! Highly recommend the "Special" tea (green tea, mint, rose water, and a cinnamon stick) to go along with your meal - it's quite delicious! If you're new to Lebanese cuisine, I imagine this would be a great place to experiment with what you like before you dive into the establishments on nearby Edgware Road. read more

Looking for an authentic place to eat Mediterranean food late night in London? The place looked very promising with a great location close to Paddington Station and quite a bit of customers inside but was disappointed. The food lacked flavor and spice which is predominate in Mediterranean cuisine. The grilled meats were a bit stale and overcooked so I had a tough time eating it. The rice and grilled veggies were just okay and edible with nothing to get you excited about. However the customer service was good and the waiters attentive and caring. I used to treat myself to coming here on my lunch break back when I worked in nearby Sheldon Square; it was always busy then, and when I returned with a friend last night, it was even busier. Our 2 minute wait for a table to become available, was barely noticed due to the friendly staff explaining specials and getting us menus. The menu is full of typical middle eastern fare to suit any taste. We chose to start with some deliciously smooth homemade hummus, and fresh flat bread. This was followed up by a whole roasted baby chicken and my friend a lamb shawarma. The place didn't quieten down the whole time we were there, with people coming to sit down as well as queue up for take away. This small place has an easy atmosphere about it; between the close knit tables glances and comments were shared about how good everything is. For us, it was the perfect extension to a few pints in the pub, and with it's close proximity to Paddington, it could serve as the ideal destination for something a bit different to munch on the last train home! read more

I had a very lovely late night dinner here with my Dad. The staff was very kind and helpful with suggestions and attentive to us. The lamb was great and I loved the couscous and Pita:) The charcoal chicken was a little dry for my liking but the sauce they provided helped that minor issue. Having cycled past it countless times to and from Paddington, I finally got to sample the wares here thanks to the reviews here via the Yelp app, and very glad I was too. From the outside, it's not much to look at, resembling a standard takeaway, which is probably why I never gave it a second thought. But the service, welcome and quality of food changed everything. Particular highlights were the juicy yet crunchy tabbouleh, the heavenly baba ghanouj and the de-lish apple and ginger juice. And all really cheap too: mezzes are around the £4 mark, and drinks just shy of £2. Needless to say, I can definitely seeing myself stopping here in the future to get my food fix before heading westwards on the train. read more

Found this place randomly when looking for a Persian restaurant (which was closed), but Lebanese and Persian are practically the same thing. This place was quite busy the night I went. Its like all other kebab take away shops, but with a table service eating area. The food is reasonably price, the menu is choc-a-block full of delicious options and the service was friendly and efficient. I was quite surprised at how amazing the food was. It was extremely delicious, and very generous in portions. I would highly recommend the apple and ginger fruit juice. read more

I used to live close to this place and have loved getting their spreads, ie tabouleh, hummus etc... especially bc time and time again they give you complimentary mini baklava bites which are heavenly. I typically get the wraps... and what I have found out unfortunately is that what the board SAYS is in the wrap is not what actually is in there. and this has happened at least 6 times. The wrap I typically get is the halloumi wrap and there apparently are a number of roasted veg etc... but you actually find a pickle and courgette... that's it... this has happened a few times. I initially did not notice as I would always take it to go and by the time I would eat I would not put two and two together. however, once I asked them to ensure that what's on the table will go in the wrap. I got confirmation and once I opened it.. it was the same usual crap. So .... sorry I cannot give them more than 3*. even this is only due to the complimentary baklava. I've eaten here a few times. It's just off Praed street and an easy place to step to from Paddington station. I've had the felafel a couple times and the vine leaves and both are just great. The service has always been quick enough, even during the lunch rush. Frankly, the place doesn't look like much. You could easily walk by and not realise there's good Lebanese food here. I recommend getting the starters with a main. In some restaurants I get just the main, but here the mains are not quite big enough to satisfy on their own. I think getting a starter first complements the food and makes it a bit more satisfying. read more

My parents and I visited London at the end of September and stayed near Paddington station. We randomly walked into this restaurant one night and were suprised (no - floored, really) at how delicious and fresh everything was! The hummus was fantastic - must have been made with fresh chickpeas. The fatoush salad had a dressing made with crushed pomegranates and had a sweet, tangy taste that was fantastic. You will see from the pics that we had a bit of everything: sea bass, chicken, veg plate - all delish. They even brought out complimentary cashew baklava for us at the end of the meal! We "discovered" this restaurant by ourselves without the help of Yelp! We just WALKED in. We needed a table for four to celebrate my 47th wedding anniversary. Seeing only small tables for two and a large one with a reserved sign, the waitress to our pleasant surprise simply removed it and seated us in the best table of the house. That first welcoming impression was followed by both the familiar menu Mediterranean dishes and the new. I loved their lentil soup and my fellow diners were captivated by their lamb chops. I was smitten by the soup and told the waitress how I felt. She claimed that they had the best Lebanese chef. I wanted to return again but had to try lentil soup at another restaurant for comparison. My informal taste test only confirmed her claim. What brought us back for three dinners out of four were the two waitresses who were attentive and personal. On the day after dining there, when we were walking by, the waitress waved to us in friendly recognition. While they were busy, they were able to satisfy my curiosity about their food, their home country, and were able to share about our mutual immigrant experiences. As we are now about to set sail on a 15 day cruise from South Hampton, via Iceland to New York which will be replete with many types of cuisine, I nonetheless am experiencing a sense of loss. When I return home to the San Francisco Bay Area which is a foodie haven, I will still longingly recall this dining memory on London Street. read more

We were staying in Paddington for a few nights after travelling over from New Zealand. We didn't expect much (because restaurants and service in NZ is generally quite bad). This place had good reviews, was completely packed on a Monday night, and we hadn't tried Lebanese food before ... so we gave it a shot ! We were lucky that a family had just left so we got a table straight away. It took a while for the waiter to serve us but he finally came ... I asked about the dish of the day but was told the dish wasn't available. Then I attempted to order the Lamb Sharwarma but was told they didn't have it (sold out?) ... my wife also wanted a Sharwarma kebab and had to change her meal. I ordered beef with couscous and my wife ordered chicken with couscous ... meals took a very long time to arrive (30 mins+?) ... we watched people come in after us and get served before us. When the meals finally arrived we discovered that my wife had received rice instead of couscous on her dish ... we enquired about this and the waiter said he would organise a side dish of couscous ... this was acceptable. Unfortunately the side dish of couscous never came ... my wife waited as long as she could but we both finished our meals. Meals were good ... Not happy with the service :) The ironic thing is, this restaurant charges an 8% "service fee" on top of the price paid for food ... I told the waiter we wouldn't be paying this extra charge because we weren't happy with the service ... they were slightly defensive but very apologetic, and ended up taking 10% off the bill (8% service charge remained) ... we aren't fussy people so we were happy with that ... they even gave us a couple of small Lebanese treats to try which was nice ... and the manager offered a takeaway couscous which we rejected (couscous isn't nice by itself!!!). Summary: - Food was good - 8% service charge probably unnecessary - Willing to fix up customer complaints They must've had a bad night with service but it's forgivable since they were busy. We're visiting from America - and although we love Great Britain.. the food here is not the best. EXCEPT THIS PLACE! It's sooo good! Most definitely the BEST food near Paddington station. And probably the best food we have had in London in general. We came here 2 nights in a row. We ordered the hummus with naan bread, grilled chicken with salad and couscous, mixed grill with sliced lamb, minced lamb, and chicken the first night and it was cooked perfectly. The next night we had chicken shawarma, which is also sooo good. We also had their special tea both nights. I highly recommend this place. I thought to myself 'I'll literally go to the first place I clap my eyes on' OK so I ignored Angus steak house and then burger king, but you know what they say?!! Third time lucky.
