Absolutely delicious. One of the best meals I've had on my trip. I ordered the tandoori chicken, tandoori lamb chops, tikka masala, garlic naan and rice. The tandoori items come out sizzling on a hot plate marinated to perfection. They also bring you some complimentary pappadum and salad. There are three sauces on each table (yogurt, a sweet hot sauce, and a tamarind? Sauce. A pitcher of water is also there for your convenience which I love. All the items are very reasonably priced. On my way out I noticed some people bringing in beer so maybe BYOB? I would definitely come back here. Seems like it gets busy so plan accordingly.

No frills Indian-Pakistani restaurant with amazing lamb chops. Used to go here all the time with mates to have some awesome lamb while bringing in a few beers to wash it down with. Made an RSVP (which is def recommended as it gets busy) and was sat right away. Table was a bit cramped, but was expected. Server came around and immediately asked what we wanted. Ended up ordering some channa, dahl, lamb chops, and chicken tikka. The channa was a little salty, the dahl and chicken tikka were good, but the lamb chops - was 100 all the way. Would def come here again for the meats.

Returned to Tayyabs after 10 long years and the only thing that has changed is the ease of getting into this place. We managed to get a last minute 10 pm reservation on a Fri night and food continues to be in line with expectations. The place hasn't gone through any upgrades in terms of seating or decor, and it shows on their chairs and walls at places - but if that doesn't bother you - stick to ordering their classic dishes like the Lamb Chops, or the the Chicken Kadhai and you won't be disappointed. Yes, food is on the oiler side, and yes, its not for the health conscious person, but hey - we all deserve a cheat meal! Service was good and food arrived within 20 mins. Btw, their mango lassi is rich but has a disgusting texture. We were surprised to see people order jugs of it! And this is a BYOB place!

A friend recommended it while I was visiting London and the food did not disappoint. The poppadom with mango chutney was so good! The paneer and the mix grill were so tasty. The flavors were perfect, the meat was tender, and their naan was buttery and fluffy. The service was quick and the place was packed for the weekend. We were seated on the second floor and the place was decorated well, the windows were open allowing in a perfect breeze. Great spot for family and friends!

We received a recommendation from someone local to come here instead of Bricklane. I wish we hadn't listened. We made a reservation so didn't have to wait long for a table. Unfortunately we were sat in an odd corner and promptly forgotten about. A waiter finally came by around 20 minutes after sitting. Our food took around 30 minutes to arrive after ordering, while we saw other tables sit, order, and get food in less than that amount of time. The food itself was nothing special. Our dry meat lamb chops were overcooked and hard to chew. "Dry meat" was an apt description. The sauce on our chicken was delicious but the chicken itself was very dry inside. Garlic naan was on point. Would not come again. This place seems propped up by its past reputation. If you have a large group of 20-something men, this might be your spot. They have plenty of large tables and it is BYO. For anyone else, just avoid.

Dined on 30 December 2023 I went here after seeing another Yelper's mouthwatering lambchops picture. We were not disappointed. The prices are reasonable. We paid approximately £40 total for meals for 2 people, no drinks. Just like most things we've noticed around London city, this restaurant is tucked away in a side street in an unsuspecting location. It is a large space, but seating is tight as they cram a lot of tables into a small space to maximize occupancy. Our table seemed very small and barely fit the dishes we had. For meals, we had lamb chops and  mutton Tikka, which came out on a skillet still sizzling. We had small prawns, which came in a stew-like dish. We expected individually cooked prawns as an appetizer, but it was good nonetheless. We topped it all off with garlic Naan that was not very garlicky and rice with green peas and small yellow pieces that I mistook for cheese (I'm still not sure what the yellow pieces are in the rice). We also had a side salad and papadam (unsure of spelling) with sauces.  The food was good. Each meal was perfectly seasoned with the right amount of spices without being overly spicy.

What can you say about Indian food in London? You would think that it has to be very close to being in India... and it is when you consider Tayyabs. Located in Whitechappel which is a highly Asian population, Tayyabs is one of the best Indian food experiences in London, as rated by many magazines. And really it does not disappoint. The ambiance is very authentic and old world - as if they never updated from their 1972 beginnings. The staff is knowledgeable and the service is quick. Food prices are very affordable. They do charge you for the papads and the water, but for the food being so prices amazing, it's worth it. The flavors and size of dishes make it fully with it. Great value.

Came here on 04 2024. Hello mate and thanks for following me on my UK journey. . Definitely come here for their grilled sizzling meat chops!. . But first make sure you do a reservation it is a zoo in here. Meaning it's crowded quick. As well it expedites the waiting. Some say it doesn't work and for me rvsp worked like a charm. As soon we checked in, we went upstairs seating. It was around 7pm, and it was empty. 720 comes around and boom all seats filled. . There is no alcohol to purchase so everyone brought their own bottle. You may purchase from next door which is a small liquor store. As well there is no tap water, they only charge and serve you bottle stilled water. . Grilled lamb chops - omg so heavenly. Mama was so happy. And 4 pieces for only 10 dollar usd. It was a steal. . Grilled king prawns -a must get if you love seafood or prawns. It was amazing. . Grilled kebab - if you love meat it was yummy. Definitely recommended. It's a mix between beef and lamb I believe. So good with the sauce tray they provide you which enhance the flavors. . Tikka chicken masala - don't recommend it was basic. Not as good as in usa where I try Tikka masala. But it was fun to try the dish where it was invented from in london for chicken Tikka masala. . Sagg paneer - don't recommend, it was missing flavor and was just basic. Best to date is pooja in west sacramento. For sagg paneer. . Garlic Nann - only one piece and charged per piece big enough to share. . Overall service was great. The manager saw me fanning myself due to the smoke and warmth. He opened the window for me and I loved the prince royalty treatment. We had a blast people watching and I see lots of friends coming here for celebration and drinks. Thanks for reading andhope this review is useful. Follow me for more. Have a yelptastic day mate.

Suggested as a must-visit for Indian food while in London, Tayyabs did not disappoint. TLDR: Good Indian food; quick service; polite servers Tayyabs was a good recommendation and we loved everything we ordered. We have the chef's special for the Lamb Chops in karahi masala and the Kebabs. Also all their chutneys are really good. Chops could've been more succulent for my liking but still were decently good.

Food was so good I forgot to take a picture before starting

We found the food here excellent, all dishes we ordered were served promptly and were delicious. Heard the chicken tikka masala was one of the best in London; it did not disappoint. Attentive staff too, overall an outstanding location. Will definitely go again.

As an outsider I consider myself a backyard connoisseur of Indian food. This spot was utterly incredible, highly recommended by two separate people I met in London, and I had to give it a try. The service was amazing and made my trip to England so special. Most US spots don't have Peshwari naan and pilau rice together, so I made sure to treat myself. Located in the historic Whitechappel neighborhood - you will not want to miss this place.

So we did some research. Somewhere along the line we found Meraz written up as one of the 12 best Indian restaurants in England. Okay, so we trek over to the East End (pretty wild neighborhood that we enjoyed) for dinner at Meraz. My husband was disappointed not to find a particular dish on the menu, but the waiter didn't hesitate to offer to have the kitchen whip it up special for him. My husband also went a little wild ordering all sorts of appetizers and side dishes. Now I don't like to deal in hyperbole. A five star rating should be sufficient praise. But I'm going to go overboard just this once: BEST INDIAN FOOD I'VE EVER EATEN IN A RESTAURANT. EVER. I've eaten in Indian restaurants at home in Chicago, in L.A., New York, St.Louis, Atlanta, San Francisco, etc., etc. etc. Many have been good, but none approached this. We ate every scrap of all the food we ordered, and only because we had a tight timeline and a busy itinerary for our brief visit to London did we not go back for at least a second meal.

I went on Saturaday for lunch and we were the only other table at the place. so we ordered a feast and waited and waited until rather bewilderingly all the food arrived at once starters and mains. i didnt appreciate this since i was starving and isnt it the norm to ask if you want everything brought to the table together? i thought this was not on for a smart looking restaurant. As we know Asian food can get a bit messy and well i got messy then realised that we didnt even have serviettes at our place settings and then the staff were not on hand to tell them of their oversight adding further rage to my experience. The thing is i would usually excuse such things but not when youre paying the price they charge. The only attentive service we got was when the manager came over to charge us - man he was so laying on the charm, but sorry pal you lost my custom as soon as the food arrived. I could see from the business card bowl on the counter that this is City folk lunch spot and thats all, where the food gets churned outta the kitchen unloved by its makers. The food was ok nothing to write home about, we asked for prathas and instead we got purries, by this point i was way to hungary to point this out and since it was half in my belly i continued shoving the rest in.

It seems to sell all manner of fast food, but that's not what I was there for. I needed a curry fix and this place seemed to be the cheapest on Brick Lane. It is all formica table tops, fixed chairs and bright lights. It would have had the atmosphere of a grubby yet sterile take-away, except that it was packed with locals and a few suits. I had some truly great pilau rice (there is a difference), a tongue-tastically flavoursom saag chicken and a tarka dahl. If I don't have tarka dahl every so often, I become morose and feel not only physically hollow but a little emotionally bereft. This dahl here was not inspirational, not the sort of dahl to order as a last meal, nor sell a kidney for, it wasn't mouth-orgasmic, but it was OK and the rice and saag chicken made up for it. At just a shade over a fiver, this place may see my bot on one of their chairs again very soon. I noticed a few locals having lamb biriani with what looked like rather crunchy and pleasant fried chicken, but I can't vouch for it. Open kitchen and large grill in the front with some of the meats and vegetable dishes on display - all looking mouth wateringly good. It's also clean, bright and well organised and everyone is busy and active. Needoo serves Punjabi cuisine (Pakastani & Indian). Dishes sampled last night included: - Mixed veg Allo gobi with meltingly soft aubergine, pepper, cauliflower, potato with a delicate slightly smoky flavour. - Meat biryani: slow cooked, fragrant, tender. - Baby chicken masala: perfect spicing and flavours with tender tasty chicken. - Lahori chana (chick peas) which were also meltingly soft and delicious with smoky galicky and spice flavours. Even the zeera rice (with cumin seeds) was full of flavour. - Complimentary salad for the table and papodoms at the start. On previous visits I have also tried the lamb chops which arrive on a sizzling iron platter emitting spicy chilli smoke that was pretty potent. The lamb chops were probably just as good as the legendary Tayyabs, just around the corner. Actually, I think the food in general at Needoo was a touch better than Tayyabs (have only been to Tayyabs once but felt a bit like being on a conveyor belt). Only possible downside I can think of is that some of the dishes can be a bit oily but not sure this is a real downside since it probably wouldn't be the same otherwise. This isn't a diet destination. A TV showing Bollywood MTV and proper air conditioning add to the unpretentious ambience. It can get busy at peak times but if you go early there's no wait. Great, efficient service too. It's BYOB which is good (just remember beforehand since there aren't too many places to buy beer in the immediate vicinity). So 5 stars for all round excellent food, service and great value.
