Came on a Saturday afternoon…read more Love the decor and the katana sword when you first walk in. We got seated immediately. We ordered the crunchy cabbage, marinated cucumber, crispy garlic potatoes, mushroom Tempera, a variety of skewers including the washugyu & shishito and scallop bacon and pumpkin (you can choose fried or grilled, I chose grilled styled) and the champon noodle bowl. The food comes out very fast. The cucumber was alright though I was not a fan of the WakuWaku sauce overly sweet. The cabbage was delicious but lacked flavor. Huge portion though. Then came out the skewers. The pumpkin was cold. I wasn't a fan of the washugyu & shishito one. And the scallop bacon was just eh, didn't really notice the bacon on it. Everything tempera one were my favorite. I loved the potato tempera it was perfectly fried. Esp. with the spicy miso sauce, it was fire, I was dipping everything in it. And the mushroom was even better. Enoki mushroom was delicious. Careful with the chicken karaage it comes out HOT. Massive pieces so good and juicy. Great portion. The noodle bowl is bigger than your head so I advise to only get one if you're sharing portions. I like the flavor of the soup, very soothing. Good collagen boost too! Lots of seafood in it. Perfect soup for a cold rainy day like we experienced. Theres miso cod was good but have had better. Honestly everything was good. I would just not get the cucumber dish and the skewers we ordered next time. They have some also have tatami rooms if you want more of a traditional Japanese style like restaurant. Overall, good experience. I would come back and try the tatami experience just with avoid a few dishes.

The food is good, above average and notable for the range they offer more than anything. The speciality here is the skewers, which range from organ meat to basic white meat. But they're always perfectly cooked and really satisfying, especially if you go in a small group. I'm also a huge fan of their nabeyaki udon noodle soup. The broth is SO. GOOD. It's above and beyond your basic udon soup, really flavorful and hearty -- I think it's the brown mushrooms. I'm not normally one to rave about udon, but it just really blew me away. All the ingredients are fresh and tasty, really, which also helps.

I know for sure that I haven't seen…read moreeverything it has to offer, but just from yesterday's experience, it gets 5 stars from me! There's so much to discover and experience there. Japan Village offers two dedicated floors with a wonderous assortment of eateries, shops, and courtyard areas at Building 3/4. The Loft on the 2nd floor also offers family friendly areas that kids can enjoy. I saw they also hold events and performances on occasion, and there are also displays and information about Japanese culture and events in the NYC-area (e.g. Japan Cuts: Festival of New Japanese Film '26 at Japan Society). I love the murals that decorate the hallways and walls in the courtyard. We had a lot of fun yesterday.

It was a fun experience for my son but my daughter has celiac disease and the only thing she could eat was ice cream. This is a common problem for her since wheat is in a ton of food. Since she is not used to this ice cream style, she didn't like it, but that's not on the vendor. My son enjoyed his ramen bowl. He said the sushi was in between a Japanese restaurant and store prepackaged and it was edible it just didnt knock his socks off. Overall a nice experience. I would love it if there was something like this in NJ

It's located close to a lobby with more seating plus there is ample spots outside to eat at if the weather is permitting. If I worked in the complex, then this would definitely be one of my go tos. I wish my office buildings had a spot like this. We came late in the day, so all the daily specials were sold out except for the fried chicken sandwich. Solid sandwich with crispy chicken and plenty of slaw to balance it out. It was served on white bread which was just the right thickness to hold everything together with diminishing the flavor of every bite. We also had a spicy tuna roll and a salmon & avocado roll. Aggressively seasoned rice which I liked. Interesting flavor coming through from the nori used in the rolls. I should have asked what they use. Staff was super friendly. Seemed like there were many regulars. They made a point to say hello and good bye to everyone. Great atmosphere here.

Good thing we ran into someone who directed us to where the front of the building was. I don't come to this area of Brooklyn often, so I wanted to order everything I was interested in. I like how everything is made fresh, and portion size was good for the price. I got take out and it was a long trek home, so I took a bite out of each item at pick-up so that I could give a fair review.: Chicken Katsu Sando ($9.50) - Fried chicken was moist, white milk bread was fluffy, but I wish there was a little more tonkatsu sauce for each bite. Tamago Sando ($9) - This was my favorite item. I enjoyed the creamy chunks and the whole egg sliced in half. Eggs were not over cooked. Great balance and good flavor. White milk bread was fluffy. Tuna Mayo ($3.50) - The cooked tuna and mayo was flavorful and there is a decent amount of filling inside, but I still have my other go to place for onigiris. You have to eat this one quickly because the nori will lose the crunch since it's directly touching the rice. Eel avocado roll ($7) - I enjoyed their BBQ eel sauce, but the portion size of the eel was significantly smaller than that of the other 2 rolls. Spicy Tuna Roll ($7) - Spicy tuna was fresh and flavorful. I preferred this over the salmon avocado roll. Salmon Avocado Roll ($7) - Salmon was fresh and portion was good, but the salmon did lack the slight sweetness I enjoy from high quality raw salmon. The sushi rice for all 2 rolls was nicely made as well. There was not too much vinegar, so it did not mask the natural taste of the fish. Complemented well.

It was a quiet Sunday afternoon for lunch. Decided on a sushi for appetizer and a rice don bowl for meal. Lunch special had any 2 rolls for $8.95 and they have a spicy scallops roll. It turn out to be a California roll with chopped spicy scallops on top. If I knew, I would not have gotten it as I imagine a spicy tuna roll but with scallops. I don't normally get California roll (not basic) because I also don't know what imitatation crab Kani stick product they are using as I have a crustacean allergy. Some Kani stick is purely fish and some have crab extract in it which I can't have. I wish there menu had more details/informations but most sushi places don't list what is in the rolls and expect you to know it or Google it. But for people with allergies (yes, I know, why eat sushi if I have a crustacean allergy but there are other options for me), we would love to know what is in the dish. Ordered: 2 rolls for $8.95: eel avocado & spicy scallop rolls and a Salmon Eel Don. Lots of rice for don and good portion fish. Zoomed in photo of the spicy scallop sushi showed it was California roll with the chopped spicy scallops on top. Overall, enjoyed my lunch. Would definitely come back to try other dons and noodles.
