As someone who loves karaoke, this place stole all my joy for my favorite activity. All of the staff was rude, including the manager. We ended getting a private room, only to find the karaoke system to be quite challenging to navigate. The staff did not bother to explain it. When we did find a song, it played the kids bop bootleg version! Far from the original song. I would almost prefer access to YouTube to find my songs that way. The song selection sucks too, and on top of that, the mics have a reverb automatically on them. I don't want that, or least give me the option to turn it off. The bathrooms are poorly maintained. The faucets didn't match, they had bottles of soap on the counters instead of in the proper dispensers AND of course no paper towel. Mind you, this was all on a Thursday night and there was NO ONE here! No excuse for terrible TERRIBLE SERVICE and a mismanaged bathroom. We were told yesterday night that karaoke was available and asked specifically if there were rooms open without having reservations. Proceeded to pay the cover fee, went upstairs, saw multiple empty rooms, and were told that they weren't having karaoke tonight. Another gentleman then demanded $350 an hour to have a room. In the heart of Chinatown likes a dark, unassuming building with sushi and lots of alcohol. The sushi was average, although I'm Californian so my standards might be higher. I had the Philly roll (duh, what else was I going to order) and broccoli. They gave a pretty decent side of broccoli. My biggest issue is that they wouldn't split checks for the group. This spot is always a go to when I'm craving sushi. I ordered few appetizers. Service was good. It was a Tuesday night so there was not really a large crowd. I said at the bar. There was no music however the TVs were playing a movie. The food came out fast and delicious. There is no parking at this location I had to park two blocks away and walk, I would recommend taking an Uber here. I would say this spot is nice if you are celebrating a birthday or even a date night. They have karaoke on the 2nd floor but you will have to check the nights to see when it is available. A group of 5 of us decided to stop by after dinner for a little karaoke in the open room rather than spending the required 300 minimum for a private room. The girls at the front desk told us there was a private party booked for later in the evening but that there was no one upstairs so we'd have the place to ourselves. After paying the 10 dollar cover we headed upstairs only to find a private party inhabiting the one open space. We tried to sit at a table but were promptly kicked out because it was reserved for a private party. The only other option was to stand in the small open area so we decided to leave. We asked for our money back when we got downstairs but were told they don't do refunds. The staff was rude and the place looked dirty. My friend overheard someone in the bathroom saying they got a splinter in their mouth from the skewer they had just eaten off of. Don't waste your money or time at this awful place. Unfortunately those were mainly late night happy hour specials on a Saturday from 10pm-12pm that catered to the college crowd. Stopped by last minute around noon since my husband was too hungry to wait for our 3pm reservation at another sushi/ramen restaurant. We were prompted seated since they must have just opened. We ordered the pork gyoza, ribeye yakitori, and the squid as appetizers. For entrees we ordered a Philly roll, gyudon, and pork broth ramen. Everything came out so quickly that we were still working on our appetizers when the entrees came out! Thankfully we hadn't ordered too many apps so we finished those and started on our main courses. My husband loved his gyudon, he said it was delicious and our server also said it was his favorite item on the menu. My ramen was pretty good was well. I ordered extra eggs because that's honestly my favorite part of ramen and I was a tad disappointed when I saw that they didn't have the custard/jam-like yolk -- they were regulars hard boiled eggs instead. My friends and I came here just for drinks and would highly recommend. We absolutely loved our waiter, didn't catch his name but he had dreads and wore a bandana. He had a great sense of humor, recommended which drinks to try, and always checked in to see if we needed anything. This is purely a review of the karaoke lounge experience, not the food. We came on a Saturday night and paid a $10 cover that included all the songs. There's a free coat check, which is always a plus. There are options to rent private rooms or a table in the lounge, but the private rooms are quite expensive with a $300 food and drink minimum for the smallest room, so we just did the public karaoke lounge. The lounge is also quite small since it's right in front of the bar, but you ask the bartender for a song slip to give to the host. Fun experience for karaoke and cheaper than a private room, but it definitely can get overwhelming in the small space. We ordered drinks but when we got the bill, it wasn't an itemized receipt, so that threw us off. The receipt just had the total, but 5 green tea shots, two tequila sunrises, and 2 Angry Orchards came out to a little over $100 after tip. read more

Came here for SIPS happy hour and we were not disappointed! I was greeted very nicely by the staff as I walked in. I had a reservation and it was easy to check-in. The inside was on the darker side, not as brightly lit as other restaurants but I think that's the vibe they're going for. The food was really good and the happy hour prices were great for your wallet! Although, everything adds up really fast so just keep track of what you're ordering! Cannot complain about anything, everything was so delicious. Decided to try this place during our visit for a bite before a show. This place was hard to find. The building was not labeled well. It was a lot smaller than I expected. We enjoyed them. - We also ordered meatball kabobs which were ok. - About the steak and chicken kabobs - I typically like my meat cooked or grilled a little longer. The steak was ok but when I bit into the chicken, I had to remove it from my mouth and I asked them to take the chicken back to cook the chicken a little longer. She did. It was much better cooked a bit longer. - bacon wrapped quail eggs were like hard boiled eggs wrapped in bacon. Husband enjoyed them. -Spicy chicken noodle bowl my daughter ordered was flavorful with the veggies being more spicy but not unbearable. She liked her dish. - Chicken rice and broccoli was good. -The spring rolls come in 2s were small but tasty. -The fried dumplings were tasty. -The crème brûlée vanilla cake was good. He was kind of pushy and not too fun PLUS we were the only group there for three hours so it's not like people were waiting for the mics. Bar and security staff were super nice. Especially because we had a drunk friend with us that had to leave. ( too many sake bombs) They were very nice about it. I don't get the idea behind limiting groups to reserve seatings to 3 hours. We wanted to stay and spend money! We paid for the seating and spent well above our minimum but after three hours we had to move down to the bar and ALL the booth seating was open and wasted! This place was the highlight of all of my meals during a trip to Philly. It is a close walk from the convention center hotels. On weekends it gets packed to the point they start turning away takeout orders (I know because this happened to me), but if you go on a weekday you shouldn't have any issues. My friends and I started downstairs eating and drinking - really recommend the chicken heart skewers and the bacon-wrapped quail egg skewers. Jolly and merry, they told us on a weeknight we should have no problems at the karaoke lounge upstairs. We had a blast upstairs doing karaoke from BTS to the Pokemon theme song. I've ordered some food drunkenly to a karaoke room before but hadn't been for a full meal in a long time, and I was pleasantly surprised! Specifically, I recommend going on Tuesday for $1 skewers (!!!) Between the hours of 5 and 7 when you can also double dip for happy hour! There are 12 different kinds of skewers for $1 ranging from the most basic of palates (hot dog and broccoli), to some normal ones like eggplant, asparagus, chicken, chicken meatball, pork belly, to more adventurous like gingko ball and bacon covered quail egg, and then the really funky ones- chicken liver, chicken gizard, and chicken heart (for anyone who's always up for trying everything, but if they don't eat all of it that only wasted like 75 cents). Happy hour specials include $6 wine, cocktails, and $5 beers. There are great food specials too like a discounted tuna tataki, hamachi crudo and lamb chops. I always get the takoyaki too- is fluffy and delicious with just the right amount of chewy octopus in it. The one specialty too we ordered featured guac and shrimp tempura which was a pretty weird pairing. Probably would not recommend. Service was great and food came out really fast. Rented a private room for 6-8 for 2 hours (extended to 3 hours- easy peasy) with coworkers for a Friday night outing - we perfectly spent the 400$ minimum with a bottle of vodka, bucket of brewskis and food. Song selection was good enough- they had all the bangers, Queen's bohemian rhapsody, Don't stop Believing, and Spice Girls. Yes, the alcohol is somewhat pricey (200$ for a bottle of Tito's) but you're paying for the experience and the privacy- I'd say it's worth it as long as all your friends chip in. As for the food, I loved the chicken liver yakatori- great seasoning, and my coworkers enjoyed the chicken wings (they were breaded, however, so I could not gluten-freely partake). So myself and a couple of friends booked a karaoke room for 2 hours. Just a couple things before we even got to the restaurant: we were informed that it was a 300 dollar minimum with mandatory bottle service and 40 dollars per hour to reserve the room. Sure no problem, it was a birthday after all. We got one of the cheapest bottle services which was 195 for a bottle of Bacardi Rum, food was okay, the rib eye steak yakitori was not very fresh, it had that aftertaste of steak that is past its prime. Most of the food was okay, service was good. Song selection at the karaoke machine was baaad. Lots of famous songs and artists not even on there so we just made due. At 2 hours they practically threw us out. They had taken the bottlecap for the booze meaning we couldnt even take our disappointingly expensive bottle with us. My overall feeling is that this place is a rip off as far as private karaoke goes. I totally get needing to have rules to keep people from trashing your stuff but overall it was not worth the exorbidant cost, poor song selection, and all of the other hoops they make you jump through. Yakitori Boy is probably best known for its upstairs Karaoke bar. Lots of fun can be had singing the night away. However, recently I discovered just how delicious some of their food offerings are as well. To be honest, their menu is a bit overwhelming. Lots of choices from a variety a styles. If you 'don't know what you're hungry for', you might be in trouble. On the flip side, if you like a spread, you will be set. We opted to mix and match. We ended up with a salad, a few skewers, sushi, tempura, and even a beef dish. I'll highlight my experience, but recommend you experiment on your own a bit too. We wanted a salad and they all looked good, so had a dish that had a little of everything in the California Soba Salad. Portioned big enough to share for two or small enough to be taken down solo, I loved the crab and seaweed mixed with the soba noodles. I feel skewers are a personal preference dish. However, you really should try the chicken skin (so crisp). We also had the bacon and quail egg and chicken heart skewers. I like how you can easily order individuals skewers until you fill up. Their sushi game was on point. The he-man roll with crab was on the specials list and amazing. The sensei's sashimi was great as I was expecting the standard tuna, salmon, white fish but instead got so more unique fair (along with Ika and Octopus). Just check my photo. Absolutely get the Negi Toro, two pieces priced to move! Rounding our dinner out, the soft shell crab tempura was breaded perfectly. The beef negimaki was good and plentiful.
