Newer sushi spot in fairmount so wanted to try them out. They have a full bar and cocktail menu as well as various sushi and Asian fusion cuisine with rice and noodle entrees. Got the lunch special 3 rolls and it comes with a nice beginner miso soup (or choice of salad). Tuna apple, salmon mango, and eel avocado. Fair price and nice rolls, fish was fresh. Always wanted to try sushi with fruit combo, so was a good chance to try them here. I also wanted to try a piece of sashimi, the sea bream was cut nicely and had fresh flavor. One of my favorite fish and not commonly on menus. Overall a nice spot, would like to try some more of their menu on another visit. Thanks

Tried this new spot with some girlfriends. With 4 of us, we ordered four specialty rolls and edamame to start. As the night went on, we ordered two more sushi rolls and the stir fried udon. Everything was delicious, but we were a little disappointed on the size of the sushi rolls for the price. The stir fried udon had great flavors but the noodle itself was overcooked and kept falling apart when we tried to grab them. Service was friendly and not overbearing which was great. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side with some music, so great for meet up with friends and conversation.

Really enjoyed the food here and my drink was fabulous! There wasn't anything we got that I wouldn't get again. Prices are on the more expensive end but nothing that out of the ordinary. Service was welcoming and friendly in a way that felt genuine. Not a big spot but ambiance was nice for catching up or a date night!

Nice new restaurant in Fairmount park area in the city. A good addition to Philadelphia food scene. Service was good and attentive, the bartender Dan made some tasty and pretty drinks. The staff was nice and attentive, the restaurant had about 12 tables inside and looked like they will have outdoor seating as well. We ordered a specialty sushi roll, 3 different nigiris (white tuna, salmon and a lightly seared one - forgot which fish was on it), pan seared black cod, and crab fried rice. Hands down crab fried rice was delicious. Pan seared black cod was well seasoned and came with 2 pieces. Both pieces were cooked nicely...only down side was onions in the dish were undercooked and a small part of one piece of the cod was burnt. Overall solid 4 stars for everything we tried.

Really enjoyed lunch here with my son. Surprising find when searching for a sushi spot in the neighborhood. Decor is great, service was fine, and food was on point.

Our first time here and it definitely won't be our last! Cute cozy sushi spot with great service, good food and drinks! I got the berry gin cocktail which was super refreshing and my boyfriend got their old fashioned which he said was probably in his top list of best old fashioned's he's had The ceviche sashimi salad was refreshing and a great appetizer to start dinner We ordered the perfect amount of classic rolls and specialty rolls. The scallop roll and rainbow roll were my favorite. I would definitely come back here to try out the other food items :)

We are so happy that this space is back open in the neighborhood! We stopped in around 6pm on a Sunday evening and were seated immediately but it filled up fairly quickly! We ordered the rock shrimp for an appetizer. It was well coated in the sauce but so tasty. I got a few rolls for my entre. They were fresh and hit the spot. Since our first visit, we've ordered take out quite a few times and it always tastes fresh and is easy to pick up. It's our neighborhood staple!

I used to get takeout when this place was Engimono so I wanted to try Javelin! The remodel is great, they now have a full bar and it looks awesome. Service was great as well, efficient and kept our waters full the whole meal (it was super hot when we went so I was drinking a LOT of water haha). The food was good and they had a good value for the price. Fresh fish, nice and buttery. My favorites were the duck wraps and the spicy salmon crispy rice! Would definitely come back.

Had an incredible experience here! From the owner of Ogawa. It's ogawa's omakase quality sushi for a fraction of the price. Everything was so fresh and delicious!!! Highly recommend the Smacking Truffle Toro appetizer. It was so good I ordered a second one. Cocktails were phenomenal as well. Go early, because they get packed quick.

Upon walking through the Fairmount area, a group of friends and I decided to try Javelyn out because it was a new restaurant that had just opened. I was always down to try some Asian cuisine and support the local community. Upon looking at the menu, I noticed that the prices were a little Steve, but was interested to see how the portions would be. The calamari was very small for the price being over $15 And the sushi rolls were pretty big for what you got so there was just a little bit of imbalance there. The salad portion that I got was pretty large as well, so I was impressed with that and could've just had that by itself. The server was very friendly and we were impressed with the service, but we started to feel the pressure when we realized that there were reservations, waiting for us and we had to go quick quicker than we'd like to. It was a great place to try, but I am unsure if we would come back.

I walked into a beautiful space. Well-lit, clean and busy! Icame in around 1:20pm on a Saturday. I wasn't acknowledged for at least 10 minutes but I realized it was only one server in the middle of the lunch rush. No big deal, I've worked in the industry. I know how it can get. When the lone server (Joseph, I think his name was?) finally got a chance to greet me, I asked to sit at the bar. They have a lunch special M-Sat, 11am-3pm; 2 rolls/handrolls, 3 rolls/handrolls or a bento box. All come with miso soup or salad. I got the 3 handroll special (spicy tuna, spicy salmon & yellowtail jalapeño) with salad, octopus nigiri, scallop nigiri & the Javelin old-fashioned. Salad was mixed greens with a mustard/sesame dressing situation. A little sweet for my taste but decent. My rolls came out & they were traditional rolls, not handrolls. Perhaps user error because my server took my order from behind the bar when I was seated by the window & maybe he didn't hear me say handroll. Again, NBD. The scallop nigiri was PHENOMENAL. Literally melt in your mouth good. Octopus was good, not rubbery. Yellowtail was my absolute favorite. Both the spicy salmon & spicy tuna had panko rolled with it, and while the fish itself was good, the panko was all I could taste. I left most of it behind. The old-fashioned was amazing. Ultimately, the food was ok. But Joseph was just amazing. For as busy as it was & him working alone (until about 2pm), he was very attentive & everything came out timely. I didn't have to wait too long for anything.

Great addition to the Philly dining scene! I was at the Art Museum with a large group and came across Javelin. Decided to pop in for an early dinner and the staff was very accommodating. The drinks are strong and tasty. The sushi is fresh and top notch. The menu is extensive and is sure to please everyone, even the younger ones. Can't wait to go again to try more drinks and food.

We loved getting to try a variety of flavors, and everything was beautifully prepared. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, the drinks were amazing, and the entire meal was absolutely worth it. We left already looking forward to coming back and would highly recommend it! The only minor downside was that it got pretty warm inside. It was during the heatwave, so I don't think the A/C was able to keep up, but it definitely wouldn't stop us from coming back. We sat in a cozy corner booth and could easily hear each other although we could not read the menu or clearly see what we were eating the lighting is so dim (and consistent with the gothic theme). Now onto the food. We ordered 9 dishes (waiter suggested 8) and it was way too much for us and I'm a big eater! Edamame dumplings - 4/5, may be just me, but I don't really enjoy mushy fillings to my dumplings. The broth they came in was amazing though Tuna rice cracker - 4/5, not really a cracker, more like a crunchy mini loaf of rice topped with tuna and a slice of jalapeno - delicious and much more filling than what I was expecting. I only gave a 4 instead of 5/5 for taste because of the unexpected presentation of the "cracker" Shishito pepper small plate - 5*/5 outstanding! I could eat these all day they were so delicious. I'm not sure how they flavor these or what light crunchy sprinkles were on top of this very generous portion of peppers (I would estimate maybe 30 peppers?) I'd go back just for this dish Black cod fried rice - 3/5, I should know better that a miso black cod will be somewhat fishy, and with it spread in chunks throughout the fried rice I'd say this was my least favorite dish. Crispy brussels sprouts - 4/5, a solid offering, not much to write home about Crispy tofu - 3/5, not particularly unique although it sounded amazing when described - cubes of deep fried tofu drizzled with peanut sauce on a bed of cilantro pesto. But not that tasty and not that interesting Scallop robo - 5/5, excellent with a kick from the spicy powder on these, note these are very small portions, three slices of scallop (not even a full scallop or if these were full scallops they were very thin) on a stick Ribeye scallion robo - 5/5, also excellent, with three chunks of tender grilled beef Mochi ice cream: passion fruit, matcha - 4/5, but mostly because I'm not a huge fan of mochi ice cream, I'd rather just have the ice cream or have it with a brownie or between two cookies So overall, service was great, not overly attentive. And the food was very solid with an outstanding exception with the shishito peppers. I'm not sure I'd go back as it is very dark in there and if I was seated on the first floor I'd not be able to have conversation with my dinner mates.

It's the usual center city parking situation - try your luck with street parking or park in one of the decks. This place is pretty low key but way more spacious that it looks from the outside. I had the rainbow roll because it had a BOGO offer, making 2 rolls only $16. However, the rolls were SMALL and basically just a California roll with a tiny sliver of fish on top. Two was the perfect amount for me and I don't eat that much, so I would've been quite upset if I'd paid over $30 for that. Aside from the price and size, it wasn't very good. There wasn't much imitation crab inside (which is relatively inexpensive anyways) and the fish on top wasn't very fresh so I ended up taking it off. The salmon sashimi pieces were also half cooked? Super weird... Maybe the food would be better in person, or if I didn't order sushi for takeout, but I probably won't be coming back here :(

Unlike other places where the fish can sometimes taste frozen, everything here tasted fresh and high-quality. Service: Our server, Jordan, was incredibly attentive and made our lunch even better. Menu: The miso soup was delicious, and the salad portion was generous. The fried calamari was also great, though the pieces were on the smaller side. While the chicken teriyaki was a bit disappointing, the rest of the meal more than made up for it. Value: At approximately $33.85, the AYCE price is a great value for the quality you receive. They also have an extensive ramen menu--while it's not included in the AYCE price, it looked delicious and is something I'm excited to try next time. Overall Thoughts: The restaurant was very quiet during our lunch visit, which made for a relaxing meal, though I imagine it gets lively during happy hour.
