Always friendly service and great food, and the Mountain View is always my favorite! The patio area is beautiful!

First time here, so wasn't sure what to expect from a resort/golf course restaurant but we were not disappointed! Made reservations for Saturday night. Go there early and started with cocktails in the adjoining bar that is in a separate area from the dining area (which we were grateful for, as there was a large party loudly celebrating a birthday). Not having a chance to see any dishes coming to other tables (it was actually pretty sparse on diners for a Saturday night), we just ordered what looked good or was unique. Started with the shrimp cocktail - juicy and perfectly spicy sauce. Not unique but a crisp fresh start to our meal. White bean crostini - sounded heavy with the steak topper, but was delectable. The Caesar wedge salad was the pleasant surprise. They GRILLED the romaine. I've never seen this before and it was an excellent way to add extra flavor to the dish. Lastly, the spinach stuffed chicken with mashed potatoes and perfectly crisp veggies. Finish off with a strong coffee and "voila", a nice finish to a very satisfying meal. Amazing view, people were super-nice. The service was fantastic. The food was fine - we ordered fried calamari which were strips, bread-crumb breaded, & served with the kickiest horseradish cocktail sauce I've ever had. It was good, but the calamari itself could have used a little seasoning. I had the flank steak, cooked medium. It was cooked to order, but again, felt like it needed a little something more. My favorite on the plate was the mashed potatoes. Garlicky and smooth. It was a mountain of potatoes! Asparagus was good - right texture and all. Had coffee and carrot cake for dessert, which was served with a dollop of whipped cream, topped with shredded carrots. There weren't very many people there on a Thursday night in March, and we closed down the place by ourselves with the dessert order. The restaurant has absolutely stunning views. If the weather is nice, I highly recommend sitting outside, the view of Mount Shasta is breathtaking and makes the whole experience even more special. The service was excellent. Everyone was warm, friendly, and welcoming, and our servers took great care of us throughout the meal. I also loved the champagne prices! A glass was only $7, which was a pleasant surprise. Overall, the menu is reasonably priced, especially considering the location. The food was good, but I think it could be a little more refined and memorable. With such an incredible setting, this restaurant has the potential to offer an even more outstanding dining experience. Even so, we enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back for the amazing views, friendly service, and overall atmosphere. read more

We came here looking for a nice place to have dinner. You walk in and go upstairs to the restaurant. Very festively Christmas. We were seated fairly quickly for a party of seven. Well, it wasn't a big menu. There was a lot of choices. I want to get the pair grilled onion flatbread, and it was very tasty, another gut fish chips and finish them all, two got flanks taken and really enjoyed it and two of us got the mahi-mahi with a citrus sauce. Finished it off with a great carrot cake and a Chantilly blueberry cake. Both are delicious. read more

Oh gosh, could the view of Mount Shasta be more beautiful?! We had been out hiking for a couple hours and then played round of pickle ball. I say this to say we looked a bit tired and dirty when we arrived. I was immediately concerned that we were underdressed, but reassured that it was just fine. Everyone was so super friendly and accommodating and made us feel very comfortable. I misjudged how much wine comes in a carafe so it was almost comical when it arrived at our table. We jokingly offered the nearby diners a glass. That said, it tasted fine. We started with a Caesar salad, clam chowder and the complimentary bread, all which took the edge off of our hunger. Even though we ate everything... The salad was just OK. The dressing lacked flavor. The clam chowder was so buttery rich, but not in a good way. Like I said, we were hungry and it did the trick Now, I can't explain my husband's palette , but he ordered chicken tenders and fries. He thought they were the best tasting chicken tenders he's had in a long time. Personally, I think it's more to do with the carafe of red wine we were working our way through. Lol For dessert, I ordered carrot cake, and despite that being my favorite dessert, I couldn't eat it. I'm not sure the reason for the excessive caramel drizzle, but the level of sweetness was off the charts. The cake itself was unenjoyable. But, would I go again? Probably. While the staff was kind and server was attentive, my partner's and my food was very bland. We ordered different things and both dishes were disappointing. We had to use a lot of salt and pepper to bring the flavor out, and even then, the food was not worth the price we paid. I would skip this restaurant entirely, or maybe go for drinks and the view alone. read more

Had a lovely early dinner at the Highland house restaurant at the Mt Shasta resort. We were the first to arrive in the restaurant so the bartender Lance did a good job taking care of us as well as the bar. My goat cheeseburger was delicious and the sizable amount of fries were cooked perfectly and were very tasty . My friend had the steak taco's which were delicious as well. After a day of traveling, it was a wonderful respite to have dinner with the view of Mt Shasta. read more

This was our 38th wedding anniversary, and this was the most disappointing meal we have had. We were once founding members of the resort before it was built. So coming back for an anniversary is special. Everything was completely over salted. My husband had to scrape the sauce and mushrooms off of his chicken just to eat it. My steak was unevenly cooked, overdone and covered with gravy to hide the large amounts of fat. The server was pleasant and amiable, but they definitely need a new cook! We had ribeye steaks. The meat was good quality but was fried on a skillet instead of open flame, which ruined the ribeye in my opinion. Also, a group of people were very noisy so this is not the place to come for peace and quiet. The group was very inconsiderate of other people. read more

You can't beat the gorgeous views and the delicious Highland Burger that includes Bacon and Cheddar Cheese! :0) Ask to add garlic to the fries, a side of French dijon mustard and toasted bun. Add on a couple pints of beer on tap and you're in heavenly bliss with a Yum Yum meal! LOVE LOVE my FAV table on the deck! The umbrella can be very unsteady when it's windy so stay alert if the wind picks up! Staff is friendly and attentive, but can be slow at busy high volume times. We went for dinner after golf. It was also my bfs birthday. Overall it was very good. We were seated by the window with a nice view of the mountain. We ordered the chicken wings and shrimp cocktail as appetizers. The wings were great. The shrimp was cooked perfectly but the cocktail sauce had too much horseradish. We ordered the ribeye and the prime rib as mains and they were both amazing. Our server was very attentive and welcoming since we arrived. Before we left, my bf was treated to a birthday dessert. My wife and I were greatly disappointed and unsatisfied with what we expected in this restaurant called Highland House. The service was less than friendly and welcoming. It seemed many employees had a negative attitude perhaps suggesting they were unhappily employed there. I noticed not one employee smiled and interacted with us. Eventually our order was taken. The amount of time to prepare two simple meals was absurd. When our food arrived it was both cold and tasteless. My wife had to request other sauces to produce a palatable taste with minimum flavor. We both agreed that our dinner was mediocre at best. We expected a higher standard and quality of food. We regret not dinning in Mount Shasta and one of the small restaurants. read more

We were excited to have a great meal after reading previous reviews. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. Our food was terrible! My husband had a steak and it was literally not edible. I ordered the snapper, but I'm pretty sure I was served tilapia instead. The fish seemed boiled and it was tasteless. Such a great dinner experience at this place! Great food with friendly and attentive servers :) The food here from the appetizers to dessert were all enjoyable. Both the strawberry crostini and farro salad were unique and refreshing. The calamari cocktail sauce had a nice kick to it, almost like horseradish. This place provider very quality food and 10% discount for you ski pass or guest for the resort. The seafood dishes are so good. The snapper is not dry at all, very juicy and flavorful. The shrimp taco is divine, I mean the cilantro sauce is so perfect for shrimp taco. The steak is a little bit over cooked but okay. Wing is fried very well but a little bit salty. I will say their seafood dish are great and seating are spaceful. Usually no wait for dinner time. read more

We got to the bar area, asked of they had a drink menu. The bartender Lance said no, but then said they have a drink specials menu. He brought that over and I ordered the tropical shamrock. My husband ordered a vodka tonic. Both drinks were fine. Lance took away the empty drinks and I ordered a moscow mule and my husband ordered a bloody mary. We had wanted to order an app and food but he came back and took the empty glasses away and never came back. So after waiting for a while, my husband went up to the bar and tabbed out. Keep in mind, there were 6 people TOTAL in the bar. Lance had another worker with him and the service was just horrible. Nice views of the golf course but we def won't be back. read more
