We were pleasantly surprised by how tasty everything was, especially their vegetarian burger, since the menu featured mostly non-veg options. Their chowder is lovely, rich and packed with clams. July 23, 2025 - Dunsmuir Whenever we're traveling through or staying near Dunsmuir, this restaurant is a must-stop for us. We always have our pup along, so we dine out on the patio. It's a small patio--maybe around 8 tables--but it's cozy and welcoming. I can't speak to the indoor seating since I've never been inside, but the outdoor experience has always been great. One thing to note: every time we've been here, there have only been one or two servers working. So if fast service is a priority for you, this might not be the best fit. That said, we're never in a rush and always enjoy the relaxed pace. On our last visit, we split the Frisco Burger (Wagyu Beef Patty on Grilled Sourdough with Burger Sauce, Pepper Jack Cheese, Tomato, & Grilled Onions) and a side Caesar salad. The meal was split into two equal portions for us by staff. I always really appreciate when staff take that extra time and care--it doesn't go unnoticed! What a nice little spot in the heart of Dunsmuir. Good beer, taps, friendly staff, beautiful outdoors, great food! The brewer came out and hung out with us for a bit, the waitress was super friendly and fun to talk to. Excellent Wagyu burgers and warm potato salad. The rib special comes with maybe 10 nice ribs. I really wanted to give them 5 stars, but the craft beer selection is a bit limited, so I'm giving 4 stars instead. Every dish we tried was absolutely outstanding. The food alone makes this place well worth a visit‼ The staff were warm, friendly and thoughtful. They even took the time to acknowledge and respect our pup's personality, which was such a warm and considerate touch. It truly made the whole experience feel even more special. Small place, so seating is limited- glad I dressed warmly sitting outside. The busboy and waitress were extremely friendly and hardworking. The busboy grabbed a bowl of water for a patron's dog (outside) without being asked. The waitress was super friendly, and my Summer Wheat Beer was very good. They only had two of the beers they made on tap but they had other varieties as well. The beer was okay but the food was amazing. The wagyu burger and pretzel was delicious. My wife loved her chicken salad. It was a huge slab of chicken that came with it. Also has a dog friendly patio area with a great view of the mountains. Love the soups, burger, and the salads! The food is always fresh, tasty, and delicious! The waitress we had was great although a little quirky. We liked her she made us laugh and was very service oriented. When weather is permitting we love sitting outside and walking through the little garden of fresh veggies they grow on site. Greek salad with Ceasar dressing was delicious ( they were out of romaine). Special pastrami sandwich was very good. Less good was wine list (settled for sweet rose after sending back cab) tap beers tasted great but they weren't cold enough. Service was great. Poor service today. We were a party of 11 and I realize that's a lot for this small restaurant. However, it took almost a half hour to get the first drinks and then about an hour later before the last plate was served to us. Most had finished our meals before the last of our order arrived... and only went we went to the kitchen and asked what happened to our food. We were told a computer problem dropped some orders. A waiter or waitress should be checking our table often to see how things were going. But despite arriving near 2:00 and only a few other guests, we felt abandoned. We won't be back. read more

We were staying one night at the Mossbrae across the street and needed dinner. Saw this place on yelp and walked over with our dog. I got the burger and my husband had the patty melt. The burger was good and he said the patty melt was phenomenal. we finished and paid our check but it was so nice on the patio that we got another round and enjoyed the weather for a while longer. There were clearly several locals/ regulars who had favorite menu items. The table next to us got the ribs and were raving to a friend of theirs who stopped by about how good the ribs are and how huge the portion was. The staff were all very nice, also. Came in on a Sunday during Memorial Day weekend and they were apparently very, very, very, very busy or severely under planned their food supply. Upon arriving for dinner there was plenty of seating and no one waiting, and since the weather was absolutely perfect we sat outside. The wait staff was pleasant even though they seemed flustered (from being extremely busy earlier maybe), and were apologetic about the food. They started off by saying, we're out of a lot of things so it's easier if I tell what we do have. I wasn't upset and I can totally understand. I was just surprised that they were out of basic items like chicken, burgers, and half of their side choices. So we ordered salads. Thankfully the salads were huge and the dressings we chose (Cesar and honey balsamic vinegarette) were delicious. Checked out Dunsmuir Brewery works and it's such a cool little local gem. They don't have a huge beer selection, but being such a small operation, I also wasn't expecting anything huge. I tried one of their lighter beers which hit the spot. After that, I had a cider (not theirs) and was also equally tasty. The waitstaff was very welcoming and even brought some of that precious Dunsmuir water for our pups. We also came back the next day, as we heard rave reviews about the clam chowder. It did not disappoint. Seating is mainly outdoors, but again, that's fine with us as we had our pups with us. Looking forward to heading back in the summer when I hear they get their merch shipment. Small-town, small pub vibes. Totally expected a werewolf-attacked backpacker to stumble in at any time! Friendly service and a variety of on-site brews to try. Food was mid, to be honest. We tried a patty melt and a buffalo chicken sandwich that were questionable. No fryer on site, so potato chips and salad were offered as sides.
