My husband & I both purchased the Bavarian cream croissant which was delicious as always. We bought a cinnamon roll to take home & found it was as dry as the Sahara Desert. If we had ate it there I would have returned it. Others in our party purchased different items and all complained that the pastries were much too sweet. The pretzel was a big hit. The pistachio tower melted before it could be eaten. The lady at the checkout register was rude & snappy. She acted like she wished the customers would all leave. First of all, I would like to write about our experience at the Yalaha Bakery, but would also like to comment on a review that I just noticed was placed on this site from yesterday which I witnessed while at the bakery. Yesterday 4/30/2025, my wife and myself had just left a doctors appointment in Oxford Florida when I suggested to go to the bakery which we had never been to but had placed on our to do lists. My wife ordered the Reuben plate and I ordered the schnitzel plate. Upon trying the schnitzel, I noticed that it was very dry and had no flavor at all, just like a piece of leather. The potato salad was watery like it came from the bottom of a bowl and the sauerkraut had a bland weird taste.My wife had the same sides and agree the sides were not edible. The Reuben was okay but the pretzel bun was extremely hard and did not seem fresh. We dumped the sides and figured that since we lived a long way from home we would purchase some desserts to take home and make the best of a horrible lunch. I checked the desserts after getting home and honestly don't understand reading high reviews, they are just okay and don't justify their high price. Before we left the bakery, my wife purchased a cappuccino and as we're were walking toward the parking lot on the front sidewalk of the bakery, my wife suddenly fell backwoods on her back with her neck hitting the concrete. Myself along with a man and a woman who had been near by ran to my wife and helped her to sit up. After several minutes we got her slowly to her feet and noticed she was extremely shook up. We then got her to our car and helped her in the car. My sincere thanks to those wonderful people who helped us. After I decided she was okay to leave in a car, I went into the bakery to tell them my wife had fallen on their property and the coffee she had just bought had been destroyed. Instead of showing any concern or making anyone in the business aware of the incident she grabbed a cup filled it with coffee, handed it to me and walked away. When I left the bakery, I took notice of the uneven and not level pavement where she had fell. The area is not conducive for good footing. Now lastly while we were in the bakery, we noticed a large group of disabled people , many appeared to be blind and several with guide dogs which were clearly marked enter the bakery. After the whole group entered the establishment, an employee behind the bakery counter began yelling at one of the woman, telling her her she could not have the dog in the building and she would have to leave immediately. I could not believe how this person could yell at this disabled woman in front of everyone embarrassing this poor woman. It was quite disgusting. I also noticed that a gentleman was trying to tell the employee that she was breaking the law and the service dog was allowed. The employee argued back then walked away. The gentleman told her as he left that he was going to notify the local television station on what just occurred. My observation is that the employees at the business must hate their jobs or else they couldn't care less about how they treat their customers. I will never go back to this disgusting business. read more

We made the long trek from Orlando for some special treats during this "age of social distancing" and man - it was worth it! Located in a beautiful part of Central Florida (make sure you drive about 10 mins away to see the big lake!) this awesome German Bakery has a great selection of breads and pastries. We had a pretzel which was amazing and the cannoli, peanut butter tart and apple strudel were all Devine. Can't wait to come back when things are "normal" to sample more! read more

Travelled 1 hour and 20 minuets one way to try this place yesterday (Daytona to Yalaha). Waited for our order for 30 minutes while many ordered and left with food. We were seated in front of the counter in plain view of the staff with a buzzer that notifies when the order is ready for pick up. Asked the staff about our order and they said they would check on it. Fifteen minutes later they had filled another few orders and we asked for a refund and left. Oh my goodness... you all know I am a sucker for a good bakery and we stumbled onto this one! We were headed to the distillery next door, but John pulled into the wrong parking lot- oh darn! Well, we're here- might as well check it out! lol. YES! The huge length of case was filled with delectable delights! Cookies, cakes, pies, strudel, rum balls, creme puffs and so much more. So much it was a bit overwhelming trying to decide! We opted for an eclair, creme puff, rum ball and apple strudel- and good gracious! I am convinced the rum ball is made with rum from the distillery next door and if I am wrong I would be shocked! The eclair was soooo good. That rum ball also just heavenly and rich- it will take a few days to eat through it. What an awesome place to run in to! We were driving the scenic route from Tampa to St. Augustine. We had to turn the car around as soon as we passed by! Looks like something straight out of a cute little German Village! There was a line out the door for sandwiches and for their bakery! There was so much to choose from we had a hard time! The friendly staff were able to answer all of our questions and help us pick a few items! They had huge giant pretzels that were delicious! I wish we had gotten a whole bag instead of just 2! We got a honey dessert and a peanut butter moose to eat there. And took home a few others which I don't remember the names but were so delicious! There is an outside court yard that had live german music! Our son loved playing the the field and dancing to the music! Next time we will try the sandwiches! 4.5 stars rounded up. I would sell my soul for quality sweet baked goods, & this German bakery did not disappoint. Due to pricing, I can't really award it 5 stars, but the quality of the baked goods & the immense variety make this bakery a stand out. This is an impressive family-owned business that opened its doors in 1995. (New owners took over the reigns in 2008.) Open 8 AM till 7 PM DAILY, this large German bakery/deli is POPULAR. While we visited, people were coming & going even though its location isn't near anything spectacular-- not nestled in downtown or up against busy I-75. There are signs on the front door that read, "Masks are required," yet that information is omitted from the bakery's webpage (even though Covid is mentioned). Service was average-- I watched & listened to staff. I didn't see one genuine smile or hear one warm & fuzzy communication between the three staff members & patrons. I'll assume that's a management issue. The vast number of available pasteries was numbing. We walked away w/ five different pasteries; our bill was just shy of $30. It appeared that almost every individual pastery (etc) was between $5 & $6. I especially LOVED the chocolate dipped Almond Horn @ $5.25; under its nutty exterior was a soft, moist almond cake. The Rasberry Linzer Cookies @ $2.75 each were also EXCELLENT. The DELICIOUS & huge Peach Streusel @ $5 was dense, & the custard inside was exceptional, & @ $5.50, the German Apple Pie Slice weighed a ton; was somewhat tart; had a flavorful crust, & was VERY GOOD. The Chocolate Moose Cake Slice was quite GOOD @ $5.25, but it tasted no different than chocolate mousse cake I've tried @ multiple other bakeries (only it was more expensive here). SEE THE PASTERIES PICS. There is a Deli in an adjacent room. Due to how busy it appeared, I did not check it out. There's also plenty of outside seating on the Beer Garden Patio @ metal tables under umbrellas. Yes, there are many German beers sold here (by the bottle). On Sat & Sun, there's live music from Noon till 3 PM. Today there was country music. Check out the online business page to know when a particular band/musician will perform here. Fresh breads are available on two separate wall shelves. Baked fresh daily, they appear to range in price from $6.50 to $12.75 (for Gluten-free Milultigrain). Along with Gluten-free free bread, some sugar-free pasteries are made here. At times, Limited Edition Stollen is available for $27.50 & $29.50 (w/ marzipan). Rolls; whole cakes & pies; & flour-less torts are available, but also may be pre-ordered to assure availability. There were too many individual pasteries to count; the variety was IMPRESSIVE-- see pics. Also check out the wall pic to see all the offered Coffees & Teas. A German breakfast is offered daily from 8 AM to 10:45 AM. It will include meatloaf, sausage, ham, or pork. For lunch, there are many sandwiches from which to choose. First off, the outside of the building was so sweet with the European flare. Then, you go inside to the most beautiful and delectable desserts all in one place! I was like a kid in a candy store! I have never seen such a display of beautifully decorated assortment such as theirs. I left with 6 different treats and when I got home, I cut a tiny sliver from every one of them and felt like I was in bakery heaven. This wasn't the first time I've been to this German bakery and it definitely won't be the last. Went in around 12pm the day before thanksgiving and was shocked at how little inventory they had left! Granted, it was the day before a holiday but it's a testament to how great the baked goods are here. I've had several of their breads now and more of their dessert selections than I care to admit. Consistently good and a wonderful selection. Will try their eat-in selection and coffee next time I'm nearby. read more

We enjoyed this beautiful day outside at Yalaha Bakery with the live music and fresh baked goods. The lines were long, but to be expected on a Saturday. The food is worth the wait. We didn't like the unorganized lines, but once you figure it out the food is worth it. I had the Reuben and my husband had the liverwurst and onion sandwich. The live music was provided by The Cave Men. The craft fair and farmer's market weren't much. The tents were all Avon and Tupperware reps. I keep wanting to like this place but they make it hard. Went for lunch yesterday. Two people had the Reuben. The corned beef was tough and there is t much of it. The pretzel roll was good. I had the tuna, it was fine. The turkey sandwich was tasteless and again, barely there. It's ok I guess but not what I expected. We tried the bakery for desert. The rhubarb struesel was delicious. The cream puff was stale. The filling was good but the pastry not so much. The eclairs were also stale and the chocolate was tasteless. The pastries were much better the last time we went. The lady at the cash register in the deli was abrupt and. Borderline rude. Not the remotest bit friendly or welcoming. Very different from the friendly young man we had the last time. A lot of people like it but for me, it's over priced for what you get and the food isn't great. It's a cute place, deserts all look amazing so try for yourself. read more
