This is a wonderful German restaurant, the ambiance is beautiful on the inside with the pictures and decor and the server who was very attentive and cook who we got to meet are very nice people. We ordered a Goulash soup and potato soup: only the potato soup was good. The roulade was okay Their Schnitzel was good but the sauce was extremely salty. The potato salad was great but not authentic. Their red cabbage was okay. Their black Forrest cake was terrible. But I was soooo hungry so, I ate it. The place was gross and stinky. My clothes were smelling like mold when I left. The place is dirty and kind of sad. I guess is good that they are closing soon. Maybe that's why they don't care about their appearance and bringing back new customers. There were two ladies, their customer service was meh. They force 20% tip and later ask again for tip. Shameless. A lot of elderly people go there, they may not realize and tip twice. Yikes. read more

My family comes here often and we enjoy it every time. I looooove the kartoffelsalat and often get extra to take home with me (we drive an hour to get here and eat). Their red cabbage is also fantastic as well. We are never disappointed and Mt Dora is always so picturesque too which is lovely. read more

We have been to this restaurant before and wanted to go back because my wife got her first Radler (Shandy) there and loved it! She was able to get another one and all the food we got was delicious. It is a very cute little restaurant with dining in and outside. Our waitress La was excellent. She couldn't have been any more helpful. Forgot to take pics of food! We will definitely go back next time we are in Mt Dora! read more

Good food ! Shout out to everyone reading this: this is one of the last authentic German Restaurants in the area(mt Dora)! We were the only ones there to eat- but it was only around 3 :00 -so it was an OFF HOUR, but was empty ! Hope it's busier later!!! Service was good n hospitable. read more

STAY AWAY. VERY SNEAKY OPERATION! Showed up at noon on a Wednesday, only ones in the restaurant. That should have told us something. They were all out of Ham on Wednesday. How dumb is that? Be careful they charge 20% on all checks automatically and then accept a gracious tip without batting an eye. VERY SNEAKY! FOOD JUST OK. read more

To start the goulash soup had nice taste but very difficult to find any meat in that soup. First disappointment. Potato pancake had no taste, no onion or any seasonings in them, second appointment. We had the sauerbraten for dinner, very tender but again lacking tastes that you expect when ordering this meal. No ginger snaps and seasoning again. Looking forward to visit this restaurant, unfortunately this trip in was not very good. read more

We ate at the Bavarian Haus last night. The restaurant had the typical German flair to indicate the gemütlichkeit. We arrived the around 6:15 and the waitress said she had two large parties of 6 and that our food would be about 45 minutes. We said ok, but wondered what she was talking about because the place was 1/2 empty. She hurriedly served our beers and rushed us into selected our meals. I ordered the leberkäse with mashed potatoes and my husband ordered the pork Schnitzel . The waitress was not very friendly. The dinners were terrific. By 7:00 while eating our meal we saw her turn away at lease 6 parties of 4 and more by telling them the same thing she told us: big parties to serve and their wait would be 45 minutes to get their food! What was really shocking was by 7:30 she told the people they were closed! We looked on the website which states 9pm. We challenged her on that and she said they haven't closed at 9pm in a long time. One guy asked if he could at least get 2 glasses of wine to go. She did that. Then she turned downed 4 people who wanted to have 4 strudels to go and she said no they ran out! I said, "wow ours was delicious"! She then told them "ok, I'll get those for you"! She also encouraged people cash only which was disturbing. I would give this restaurant a 4 for authenticity but wow very questionable business practices... I think the owner needs to come in once in awhile if she or he is wondering why they're not making any money! Last night was jam packed of people Mt Dora. read more

Everything. Like walking into Munich. Fantastic food, Hofbrau Dunkel on tap. I ordered Sauerbraten with potato dumplings and red cabbage. Simply the best. Flavorful, meat fell apart. Strolling through the little hills of Mount Dora, we stopped by this place for a nice pint. We ordered the original German lager and it came cold and crisp. We sat outside and enjoyed the weather. We didn't order any food because the kitchen was closing shortly, but we will definitely come back to try it. I'm a sucker for German food. You know. I was kind of surprised to not see curry wurst on the menu. read more

Stopped in before a show at the Mt. Dora Music Hall. While it's great to see more German restaurants in Central Florida, this one was disappointing to me. Admittedly, me and my friends only had a beer and a snack rather than a full meal, so perhaps I am being narrow minded. But, the pretzel we ordered was pretty soft and did not have the heartiness of those served at other places. While they do offer a decent variety of German beer, only Hofbrauhaus original and dunkel, are on draft. read more

***DO NOT COME HERE*** Please save yourself the embarrassment of having to pay for this "food". I'm not sure what these other reviews are talking about. This place was disgusting and extremely rude. Party of 2, we were seated quick. We ordered the bratwurst with french fries, sauerkraut, and, undoubtedly the most disgusting thing I've ever been served, the German pasta (I believe they called it Spatzle). The chef kept coming out of the kitchen, walking around aimlessly and murmuring random words like "he's gonna get ya" and "that's a nice one". He was talking to himself. Very much reminiscent of someone on drugs. Our table was right across from the kitchen door, which proudly showcased a microwave right in front of the door, actively heating up food. As someone who eats German cuisine frequently, this food was inedible. Obviously microwaved as the plate was piping hot. The sausage was dry, rubbery, and the meat inside was separated from the sausage casing. Felt like cutting into an old sock with playdoh inside. Also, sauerkraut that comes from a jar of Heinz does not make it "German". There is no amount of words in the English language that can describe how horrid and gross the German pasta was (the spatzle). It tasted like puss, but flavorless. It looked like puss. Or maybe a ripped up mattress padding. It was absolutely disgusting. I wish I had taken a photo, you wouldn't even believe how revolting it looked. Our waitress comes back and asks how everything is. I tell her, politely, that this food was really not for us, and difficult to eat, and that the pasta was inedible. She does not apologize, she does not offer any solution, and instead rolls her eyes and looks at me angrily. Her only response she can mutter is "okay". Okay? No, not okay. Paid full price for this joke of a meal, and was offered no solution regardless of how polite I was while I was there. Now leaving this review, Bavarian Haus, if you're reading this, I should've spoken to your manager and let them know you're running this place like you don't even care. Absolute joke of a restaurant and there is zero care for quality or consistency in this place. Oh and to our waitress: act like an adult, and rethink your place in the service industry if that's how you're going to act. I genuinely have zero idea how any review here can say the food was good. Maybe if you drink enough German beer you'll be drunk and can just have zero inhibitions about this material you're eating. Please don't think that your experience will be different than mine, save yourself. Do not eat here. read more

Unfortunately we were not able to try the food, we showed up at 1:30pm this past Sunday, the waitress / host? asked how many and when we told her 2, she stated we can not fit you as she glanced at the one open table for 4, I get maybe waiting for a bigger party, however not even a statement of " I can not fit you" in a rude tone, my wife then asked how long the wait would be and she stated I don't know maybe 20 - 30 minutes, we just felt that should have been offered not "we can not fit you", its too bad, we eat out often and bring family out specifically for German food, oh well their loss, I gave 2 stars, just because I don't know the food quality, maybe a lesson in manners is appropriate, I would have waited, but not with that attitude. Waste of a drive, I wont go back. read more

Came here this past Friday at lunch time. They had just opened. Place is cute. Seated immediately and ordered our drinks and food. Beer came out quickly but the food took nearly 30 minutes to arrive... & when it did it appeared the dreaded bidenomics had hit this restaurant. The chicken schnitzel was literally paper thin and all beading no meat. The potato salad was ok. I don't know if our visit was at a bad time or not but we won't be back here. After looking at previous diners pictures we were shocked at the portion size for the price. read more

Food is always good, the red cabbage is my favorite side. It is best to call before going to verify times. I know they are closed on Mondays and have short Sunday hours. And if you get there late your subject to miss out, the kitchen closes before the restaurant does. It's a mom and pop operation so the staff that is there is there all day from open to close. I try to go at least twice a month I love it! And the beer is always good :) And yes I've been there too late and missed the kitchen too, so call first verify the hours worth it if you do! read more

We usually go to Sanford for our German but someone recommended we try the BH and glad we did. The restaurant was not busy (snow birds not back yet I guess) we were seated right away and the hostess waitress sous chef was friendly and got us our requests quickly and with a smile. We started by trying the potato pancakes with apple sauce/ sour cream which we loved. We both got schnitzel with spetzel though I got the potato dumplings and she got the German potato salad. We also got a side of red cabbage and it all was great and did not disappoint. Time to get out if you can and support this and all small restaurants :) read more

Great super friendly German restaurant with an extensive and authentic menu. They have a small indoor seating and a patio. Waiter and waitress were super helpful answering questions and just chatting given it was a slow Friday afternoon. My group had a blast. Of course they've got authentic German beer. I had the 32 oz dunkel. Sorry, I forget which brewery. But it was sweet and delicious. We all got schnitzels and we all loved them. Potato salad was very good. And the red cabbage was very strong but helped spice up the schnitzel as well. Giant pretzel was good with very good mustard. And the potato pancakes were amazing. Prices are very reasonable as well. We came here on a Wednesday evening with our family. We made reservations for six people. We were able to get right in and get a nice table in the back. The inside is not real big but quaint and has a small bar. There's also plenty of outside seating. Most of the food was really good. some of it was just passable. My favorite was the warm red cabbage. The only really odd thing here was that if you wanted bread it was $1 a slice. Nothing fancy just a sourdough bread served on a plate. So if you're looking for some German food this is a place to come and Mount Dora. Our waiter who was a young man was knowledgeable and friendly. read more

The worst German dining experience ever. And I'm German American and like German food. Service was horrible. The waitress was rude as was the lady bringing food out of the kitchen. We were there for 2 hours and only ordered sandwiches. Food was very average by veal schnitzel was over cooked. Nothing came with the sandwich. But the Munich beer was cold & tasty read more

My family and I wanted to go in for a nice German lunch. But when we got there the host was very rude and barked at us that the restaurant was full. She was very rude when we asked if she had a wait list, and didn't even bother to ask for our number to let us know when a table was available. There are only about 6 small tables inside and about 8 small tables outside. Very disappointed. read more

Almost true german food & service. You have to go! The service was pretty good, but it feels they were short staffed. We had to wait way too long for our food and it wasn't packed. Only 2 staff members didn't seem enough. FOOD-the bratwursts were on POINT! so much flavor and cooked well. Now the main dishes-the schnitzel s were missing seasoning. We're big fans of all versions of schnitzel, and it felt that we should've added the gravy for better tasting. We've had it in Frankfurt, Ludwigshafen, Munich, even Helen, GA and the taste was epic. So it makes sense that I didn't give this place all the stars for it. The beers (both ale and dunkel) are a MUST TRY! And the desserts (home made apple and cheesecake strudels a la mode) are mandatory. read more

We were led to the bar room and it was spacious and alot more quiet than the main dining area. Our server was attentive and made sure we were taken care of. We had the following: Pretzel with mustard and cheese: 7.5/10 - it was a bit salty but combined with the sweet mustard was delicious! Since it was the smaller version of their giant pretzel, it was only $5 and worth every penny! It was a pretty good size and enough to share between the both of us. I liked the cheese spread too but it was bit rich for me. The mustard was definitely our favorite dip! Potato pancakes with applesauce and sour cream: 9/10 - this was by far my favorite appetizer. The potato pancakes were fried perfectly and the crispy edges were delightful! I didn't think I would enjoy apple sauce and sour cream together but it worked so well with the fried pancake. It cuts through the grease and adds a little sweetness. The portion size was hefty too for $5! Bratwurst with hot mustard: 8/10 - There were a variety of flavors we could choose from and I chose cajun since I love spicy flavors. The bratwurst was cooked perfectly and it was also cut into pieces for easy eating. For $5 you get a big bratwurst and some mustard. I wish it was a little spicier but nonetheless, it was juicy, flavorful, and had that signature snap of a great bratwurst. Jaeger schnitzel: 9/10 - my husband chose the veal and he said it's one of the best schnitzels he's ever eaten. I could see the joy in his face in each and every single bite. It came with warm, pickled cabbage and spaetzle. The schnitzel and spaetzle were covered in this absolutely delightful gravy. I had a bite of everything and it was divine! My husband has lived in Germany and he said it was very reminiscence of his time there. It was a pretty hefty portion too and I knew he loved it when he cleaned his plate completely haha Apple streusel: 9/10 - The apples combined with the flakiness of the pastry and hints of cinnamon was like a warm, cozy hug on a winter day. I cannot explain to you how yummy this was. The pastry itself was light, airy, and each bite made us smile. Definitely try this dessert out! German beer: 9/10 - Husband enjoyed his beer very much and I took a sip. It tasted pretty light and not too heavy. Overall, we will definitely be coming back if we're in the area. I really love that the roll holds together well when you're eating it with a knife and fork. I'm going to ask my friend for a recipe because it seems like it would be a good go to meal. I think my next favorite item was the polish sausage. I do enjoy eating sausages, but sometimes I'm just not a fan of how some are seasoned. That wasn't a problem with this polish sausage, because it was delicious and flavored just to my liking. Now pierogis I have tried before, and I'm not sure if they are polish origin or a neighboring country, but I have always enjoyed them. These cheese and potato pierogis were exactly as I expected them. They were cooked well and stuffed with filling. I shared a few with my nephew who is a bit picky, and to our surprise he was enjoying them. I would definitely give another flavor option a try! The final item was the potato pancakes and I think they were cooked well, but I think I would have preferred a little more salt to bring out the flavor. I plan to research Polish food after this visit and see how each dish is usually eaten. There were 3 condiments that accompanied my meal, but I didn't use them. For the most part, each dish was delicious all on its own. The Polish plate is definitely enough to share between 2 people, and you'd probably have just enough room for dessert as well. I know the pistachio cheesecake will definitely see me, if I find myself in the Daytona beach area again! It was literally steps to the beach so that was nice to stroll out there before/after. After poking around some shops, I made my way upstairs to Dill! The place is cute and colorful! Loved the European decor! I was there on a Tuesday night and there were only 2 other tables sat so pretty dead at the time. Server was lovely, cheerful, and helpful! They don't have a full bar but do serve beer and wine so was able to get a glass of vino. I really wanted schnitzel and pierogies but unfortunately you can only get the pierogies by the dozen (unless you get the big combo meal which comes with 6 rogis and a shit ton of other food). Problem was, I had a 6am flight the next morning so no way I would be able to eat any leftovers. I asked if there was ANY way I could just get like 2 rogis and she unfortunately said no (I totally get it, but maybe add smaller options in the future!). So I went with a cup of borscht soup and the pork schnitzel. The soup was served hot (I've only ever had it cold) and was very good! The schnitzel was legit the biggest schnitzel I've ever seen in my life and it's a GOOD THING I didn't get rogis in addition to it lol. I immediately cut it in half and was only able to eat that much. I got the mushroom sauce too and that was so yummy with the schnitzel! The potatoes and slaw were very good too, loved how refreshing the slaw was!! You would never think to look for this kind of food in Daytona of all places, but it's definitely worth a stop! If I had anyone dining with me, I could see getting a few dishes to split because of how large the schnitzel was. Wonderful place with great service and delicious food, just wish I was able to try those rogis!

My dinner had limited mushroom gravy on the breaded pork cutlet and on the mashed potatoes. When the bill was presented, I noticed an extra $1.00 charge for the red cabbage. And the entry was priced $2.00 more than the website price was on their site. My fault for not asking. Supply shortages cause changes, but it would have been beneficial to ask the prices. The service was prompt, food good, but not exceptional and the place has potential. Just needs more customers to get the kinks out.
