Went late on a Sunday night. Only had two waitresses on. Took forever for service, although there was a large table of 10 but still. Ordered a dinner combination. They have variety of Thai, Chinese and Japanese food to choose from. Servers are nice enough, seem frazzled with the large tables. Food was good, but I've had same quality type food for cheaper. Maybe because it is in the interior. Either way, made my tummy full!

Yamato serves Vietnamese and Japanese in the heart of Kelowna. One of the guys I golf with comes up to Kelowna a lot for work suggest we give Yamato a try. I have to admit I was a bit weary... what kind of good Asian food can one expect in Kelowna?! It's no Vancouver! Well I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Yamato was pretty good. I had a BC Roll and their Big Noodle Bowl. I wanted to try something Japanese and I wanted to try something Vietnamese! Both dishes were good! I would say anyone who has a hankering for some decent Asian food when they're in Kelowna should give Yamato's a try! I think they would be pleasantly surprised. Hard to believe that you can find decent ethnic food out in a small town like Kelowna.

The so called Special Maki Spider Rolls that are a sin against real sushi.

The Pad Thai Curry Noodles was great, nicely spiced. Good service and reasonably priced. Will return soon.

Growing up Chinese in the Toronto area and multiple trips to Hong Kong and Vancouver over the past 30 years+, I have had good and not-so-great dim sum. This place is below par in my book...I got excited when I saw "shrimp rice roll" in the menu to discover it is the frozen T&T ones which I can get from the Superstore (the imprint from the plastic tray was a giveaway). This place is good for anyone who may not have had as much dim sum experience as myself etc, but for anyone who have had hundreds of dim sum meals, I would advise checking out the place across the street from KLW... Service was great...food was not quite up to par for me.

Not a fan of that type of wrapper but they were tasty. - Shanghai pork dumpling- very tasty. Enjoyed the light ginger flavour. - Pork dumplings - just a lump of minced pork. No real flavour. - Black bean chicken feet. Are larger than usual bc they use the ones that are cut higher up the leg. While they were properly cooked, there was no black bean taste at all. Kind of disappointing. - Tofu skin pork rolls. These were good. Lots of stuff in there besides minced pork. Had things been more seasoned, we would have given them a higher score. But at this point we can't give them more than a 3.5.

Since After searching on Yelp ... we came with anticipation and we were totally blown away with their various dishes!! The dining room is bright and has a youthful ambiance! I always have a soft spot for Ma Po Tofu ( a Szechuan Spicy Tofu dish ) and I am happy to report that it was super delicious ... too bad it was only two of us and we couldn't order too many other dishes! But I am glad I ordered my fav dish! The Spicy Wonton is also done just right, not too spicy and the filling still very juicy and the wonton wrappings were super smooth in texture! I also liked their version of Singapore Style Fried Rice Vermicelli .. not greasy at all and have the distinctive " Wok Hei"! Overall, this is a great addition to the local Asian food scene, run by very friendly family ... in times like these, its important to support small local business! Since its just across from the Kelowna Airport ... its super convenient to hop off the plane and order yourself authentic dim sum and enjoy some fruity green tea!!

Happy I called to verify whether dim sum was avail on a Sunday morning (website states 4-8:30). Quite happy they serve congee (chicken or pork w/ preserved egg), which satisfied my "Chinese craving". Dishes we ordered satisfied our dim sum craving...flavours were okay, but definitely the place to go in between visits to Richmond or Toronto. Service was good, considering they were busy, and it appeared the lady was running around with more haste and expertise than the young man. Having grown up in Toronto and had dim sum from San Francisco, Vancouver, and Hong Kong, this place may not be best in comparison but love that they are avail to satisfy that dim sum craving while in the Okanagan! This is a rating of 3.5.

It felt even thicker and less desirable on the prawns. However, overall, it was okay. The seasoning on the fish was light, barely noticeable. With that said, dipping it into the addicting tartar sauce made it more enjoyable. We liked the sauce so much that we ordered a few more at $.50 each. Between the two fish options, I love the tenderness of the cod, but really liked the meatiness of the halibut. The prawns were not very good imho. The chips were crispy and quite good, but the New England Clam Chowder needed more clam flavor. Service was a bit odd. The Korean lady starts off by saying that they don't serve parties larger than four, but will make an exception, though there was a round table clearly large enough. A party of five came later and they had to split up. Why couldn't she simply add a chair for them at the rectangular table for four? Furthermore, she told us that "It's not dim sum." Guess she is telling us to order enough food and don't share one or two items between us because we are Chinese? We certainly took some offense to that comment. Towards the latter part of the meal, she got somewhat friendlier. Not as amazing as I had hoped from seeing the Google and Yelp reviews, but still one of the better casual eateries out here if you don't mind some "interesting" conversation with the owner.

We all loved the fries while my wife and I also enjoyed the apple-coleslaw. Best of all was the fish. My wife and I really enjoyed our two pieces of cod which was more than enough for each of us. The 6yo loved his one piece of halibut. Each basket came with a bit of fruit and some pickle slices, which is rare in the states. Service was great and they took care of everything. They wouldn't let me clean up the table.

We browsed through Google search for some hot soupy meals and came across TZone. You can never go wrong with ramen on a cold rainy day. I ordered the Ebi Mayo and a BBQ pork ramen because you have to have a classic tonkotsu when comparing ramen places and that was the closest I could get. Plus I love BBQ pork. The Ebis were surprisingly big and perfectly fried but I just remembered they were using Tiger shrimp so that makes sense I like the crispiness of the batter without it being oily at all. The mayo was quite spicy sooooo if you can't take spice I would ask for the sauce on the side. 5/5 The BBQ PORK RAMEN had chunks of BBQ pork instead of the classic thin slices of pork belly. I liked it for the slight char on the outside a and the tenderness of the pork on the inside. They managed to make it still melt in your mouth tender. Soup base was pretty solid with no MSG but it was with chicken broth! Ramen noodles were standard and cooked to al dente. 4/5 My friends ordered the chi-Ku-wa-crispy Japanese rolled fish cake with cream cheese inside and garlic mayo sauce. It was yummy with the spring of the fish cake and the creaminess of the cheese. I don't usually go to Asian restaurants when visiting Kelowna but this will now be our backup plan whenever we are craving some soupy noodles
