It felt even thicker and less desirable on the prawns. However, overall, it was okay. The seasoning on the fish was light, barely noticeable. With that said, dipping it into the addicting tartar sauce made it more enjoyable. We liked the sauce so much that we ordered a few more at $.50 each. Between the two fish options, I love the tenderness of the cod, but really liked the meatiness of the halibut. The prawns were not very good imho. The chips were crispy and quite good, but the New England Clam Chowder needed more clam flavor. Service was a bit odd. The Korean lady starts off by saying that they don't serve parties larger than four, but will make an exception, though there was a round table clearly large enough. A party of five came later and they had to split up. Why couldn't she simply add a chair for them at the rectangular table for four? Furthermore, she told us that "It's not dim sum." Guess she is telling us to order enough food and don't share one or two items between us because we are Chinese? We certainly took some offense to that comment. Towards the latter part of the meal, she got somewhat friendlier. Not as amazing as I had hoped from seeing the Google and Yelp reviews, but still one of the better casual eateries out here if you don't mind some "interesting" conversation with the owner. read more

Doesn't look like much from the outside but on the inside, it looks like a fish and chips place without any sea-baring decorations. The portions are huge and the food is delicious. We all loved the fries while my wife and I also enjoyed the apple-coleslaw. Best of all was the fish. My wife and I really enjoyed our two pieces of cod which was more than enough for each of us. The 6yo loved his one piece of halibut. Each basket came with a bit of fruit and some pickle slices, which is rare in the states. Service was great and they took care of everything. They wouldn't let me clean up the table. read more

Four of us went to this unique establishment yesterday day, we all had the fish and chips. It was excellent!! The service was quick and pleasant! I would highly recommend it! Tiny locally owned fish and chips joint in Oliver BC! Felt like a mom and pop shop that served fresh delicious fish and chips! We ordered the cod with fries and it was so good! The fish was crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside and the serving size was great! It came with a side of fruit and a really tasty coleslaw. Service was superb and prices reasonable! Will definitely be back if I am ever in Oliver again. They only have four of five tables for sit down service, lively because of Covid but they seemed really busy with takeout service, so get there early if you wanna dine in. read more

Every time I'm in Oliver I would go here with my Mom and Dad. The fish and chips are great. Comes with coleslaw, which always needs some salt. And either frozen peas or mushy peas. The fries are homemade. Not frozen. I've had all the fish. Cod, halibut and haddock. All fresh. Crispy batter. Haven't tried the desserts. Wine and beer is cheap. It's not gourmet, just good food. This is a gem in the middle of the small town of Oliver. The atmosphere is quite unique when you first walk in then you test the fish and chips. These are some of the best fish & chips I have had. The fish tasted fresh, the batter was not overwhelming, and the prices were decent. They also had a unique way of getting vinegar on the fish as evenly as possible, a spray bottle! Top that with their fresh homemade pie and you are set for a very satisfying meal. The service was fast and friendly, too. I would definitely recommend this place if ever in Oliver. This small, very friendly place makes GREAT Fish & Chips. Choice of Haddock (new), Halibut or Cod. Great Chowder as well. They also make burgers etc but I have never had them. They have a combo plate that has two types of Shrimp, Scallops, Halibut and chips. Extremely filling and well worth the price. We try to get there at least every three weeks if possible. Limited hours so try to make reservations or get there early (4:30-5:00) like we do. As far as I am concerned they are the best in the valley. The service was impeccable, food outstanding and the little touches add to it all.... the fruit cup, the way the coleslaw is dressed, and the chocolates with the payment process all make it truly excellent. A hidden gem in a small town of Oliver! Their fish and chips are awesome! The fish is cooked so it's soft and a nice crunchy fired batter texture to compliment it. I have to say this place is a great little restaurant. I wasn't expecting much by the look of the cheap interior but that often in my travels, doesn't always tell the story behind the meal. It was clean and inviting, so don't let the tacky decor throw you off. And don't look to closely at the windows for the grid work lol. But seriously though... I go here often. I take everyone who needs to eat. Lol great excuse to go back. The only reason I didn't give them a five is the hit and miss hours of operation and when I would like my shrimp gluten free it's always a hassle, but they will do it if it's not busy. So they tell me EVERYTIME, Super annoying for us glutards!! Keep this in mind if you follow your reviews aunties! We don't like to be made to feel our ordering is an annoyance for you. Bad service in that manor. But keep up the gluten free service. But other then that they are quick and super friendly there. I've had half the menu by now so fish is done fantastic and fries are fresh. Shrimp is my fav. So fresh and wonderful. I also love the coleslaw. Fresh lemon. Hot food always! Great portions, depending on what I order I have lunch for the next day. And like another reviewer said the spray vinegar is an awesome idea. Also this place is kid friendly. Prices are family friendly. Even with a glass of wine which yes I like a nice glass of wine with my meal ever so often. So I'm glad it's a licensed restaurant. Lol And I do like the royal family parts of the decor. My Grandma was from England and followed the royal family all her life. This was also one of her favourite places to eat and have tea when she lived in Oliver. So not all the decor is drab. I notice it's for sale, to bad I hate when my fav spots go up for sale.
