I was trying to pick up a couple of Specialized Turbo Kenevo bikes and most everywhere was out-of-stock because of the big sale they were having ($9000 MSRP down to $5800). Eventually did get what I wanted - but could only have them delivered and was shopping around for a great shop to set them up, test ride and go. Well, found the folks at Siskiyou Cyclery. Usually I'm heading further north to Medford, but the plan was to also enjoy Oregon and take a visit to Crater Lake. These folks are conveniently located near middle of Ashland. They're on a main road so you will have an easy time finding them (and turning around if you miss). Parking is nice - there's two spots on the road in front of the shop, parking in the back and next door parking if you have a larger vehicle as well. Inside, it's a bike shop. Nothing fancy. What is nice is that while I was waiting, I saw one mom bring her kids (6?) bike in because of a flat. I saw another guy just wander in needing a derailleur. Very low-key and friendly in terms of "sure, drop it off and come back this afternoon" and no, I didn't feel I was being blown off while they got those folks in and out. When I was picking up the Kenevo's, engaged in light conversation and they knew their stuff. "What is the bottom bracket of the e-bike?" or "what is the largest chain ring I can run?" plus they got into the conversation of what e-bike rules are locally, which varies crazily for USDA and USFS along NP land. Grabbed a bike, after it being set up and went for a quick ride. You can go right out the door, and then right again to head towards Starbucks. You can stay on that same road the shop is on for a long and level ride. You can go straight out and head up some minor inclines (not 10 ring stuff, but middle cog, haha) Paperwork was easy, in and out basically. You're not going to be stuck there while they treat you like a baby explaining how the dropper seat post works, or how to charge up your e-bike - unless you want to be. Overall, because "Oregon" and "Ashland" convenience, this is a great shop to stop by, get repairs or parts, and enjoy the Ashland scenery!

This review is wildly overdue, about three years overdue, but I've been meaning to write it because…read moreEugene Electric Bicycles did such a great job on my bike. They converted my 2010 Marin mountain bike into an e-bike, and it was not a simple project. I have a small frame, wanted solid range, and needed it to work safely with a rear child seat. Alexander went back and forth with me for months figuring out what would actually work. We initially tried to make a triangle battery fit inside the frame. Once the real measurements came in, it was clear the manufacturer specs did not match reality and it just was not going to work. Instead of forcing it, Alexander pivoted. He found a rack with the right weight capacity and then custom-machined and reinforced it so it would be sturdy enough for both the battery and a kid seat. That attention to safety and detail mattered to me. Throughout the process he was thoughtful and straightforward about tradeoffs, timing, and cost. Nothing was oversold. When I had a quick issue after pickup, they replied to my email quickly and helped me troubleshoot it right away. Three years later, the bike has been completely reliable. The setup feels stable and balanced, and it has allowed me to keep riding in ways that really matter to me. If you are considering a conversion and want people who take safety and craftsmanship seriously, I would absolutely recommend Eugene Electric Bicycles.

The following is a recent situation I endured with this company…read more Eugene Electric Bike management, I had my E-Lectric bike in for a flat tire. I was given a quote of $60.00 to fix the tire. I was surprised how fast you fixed it, but the charge was $76.00! Although I was not thrilled with the response that there was an additional charge for a new inner tube, I decided to let it pass. Then I noticed my cell phone holder was missing. Your representative said they couldn't find it but would continue to look for the missing part. I had to buy another holder and sent you a text requesting a refund of the cost. Since the cost was $16.00 for anew holder and the difference in the cost of the bill and the estimate was $16.00, I would appreciate a refund of $16.00. Jack, The price you were quoted is the price you paid. The remainder of your phone holder is not at our shop. As you stated, it was a fast turnaround. Your ebike was in one area of the shop and nothing was removed from the handlbars. We are remiss that you lost your item at some point... But have no fault in this. You contacted us for a job, that job was done, that is all. Perhaps it would be best for you to take your ebike to another shop going forward. We wish you the best. V/r, Alexander Eugene Electric Bicycles Oh I will and your service will be noted when I rate you online. You might want to reconsider. Jack Your intent is noted. We simply do not have any role in your missing part of your phone mount. Better that we not have further correspondence as no good could come if it. Please do not message us again as we will not provide any further services for you. Still wish you the best of luck V/r, Alexander Eugene Electric Bicycles If this is how you treat a returning customer, I think others should know what a shoddy outfit you are!

By the way, Mike, can your average customer -- or the average American for that matter -- generally afford a bicycle at a higher price point than around $1,000??? Is that really your general experience? Because, I don't appreciate the way you absolutely shamed me for riding the type of e-bike I brought to you for fixin' up. And, in front of two of your other customers. It's just a dick move. Thanks for the 2-second derailleur adjust. But, if that freebie is the admission cost to the Mike the Bike Snob Shaming Show, then I will steer clear of ya and take my bike(s) to The Fifth Season or elsewhere. Thanks for nothing, guy.
