So I read a prior review of someone who drove from the SF Bay Area to pick up a bike from these folks, and can concur - great experience! I was trying to pick up a couple of Specialized Turbo Kenevo bikes and most everywhere was out-of-stock because of the big sale they were having ($9000 MSRP down to $5800). Eventually did get what I wanted - but could only have them delivered and was shopping around for a great shop to set them up, test ride and go. Well, found the folks at Siskiyou Cyclery. Usually I'm heading further north to Medford, but the plan was to also enjoy Oregon and take a visit to Crater Lake. These folks are conveniently located near middle of Ashland. They're on a main road so you will have an easy time finding them (and turning around if you miss). Parking is nice - there's two spots on the road in front of the shop, parking in the back and next door parking if you have a larger vehicle as well. Inside, it's a bike shop. Nothing fancy. What is nice is that while I was waiting, I saw one mom bring her kids (6?) bike in because of a flat. I saw another guy just wander in needing a derailleur. Very low-key and friendly in terms of "sure, drop it off and come back this afternoon" and no, I didn't feel I was being blown off while they got those folks in and out. When I was picking up the Kenevo's, engaged in light conversation and they knew their stuff. "What is the bottom bracket of the e-bike?" or "what is the largest chain ring I can run?" plus they got into the conversation of what e-bike rules are locally, which varies crazily for USDA and USFS along NP land. Grabbed a bike, after it being set up and went for a quick ride. You can go right out the door, and then right again to head towards Starbucks. You can stay on that same road the shop is on for a long and level ride. You can go straight out and head up some minor inclines (not 10 ring stuff, but middle cog, haha) Paperwork was easy, in and out basically. You're not going to be stuck there while they treat you like a baby explaining how the dropper seat post works, or how to charge up your e-bike - unless you want to be. Overall, because "Oregon" and "Ashland" convenience, this is a great shop to stop by, get repairs or parts, and enjoy the Ashland scenery! read more

The best bike shop in Ashland! I've been there many times in the last months to have my mountain bike serviced and revamped. I found that I was leaning heavily on my hands and was causing bicyclist palsy. It was suggested that I have new handle bars installed so I would have to lean forward so much and my bicyclist palsy has disappeared! My bike chain was stretched out, my brakes were worn out after 100 plus miles of vacation riding. Pulled into Siskiyou at 430 pm hoping for a miracle. Found one. The mechanic hopped on the job, replaced the chain and derailleur and both brakes and gave me my bike back within the hour so I wouldn't miss a day. Thank you !! read more

I purchased my mountain bike over 15 years ago from this shop. I took it in a week ago because the derailer stopped functioning properly. I was quoted a price of $65 for a tuneup on the phone. When Jeff saw what I needed, he changed his estimate, saving me $25. He repaired the derailer, replaced my brake pad and cleaned it up. He also guaranteed the repair for 30 days. I wouldn't have known it didn't need a full tune up, and thanked him for his honesty. read more

10 minutes in to my 10 day MTB trip throughout Oregon, I broke my brake caliper and mount on one of Mt. Ashland's famed downhill runs. I had to coast the bike down a 13 mile long logging road to get back to town, and I thought my trip was over. Knowing that the Shimano supply chain has been effected by Covid, I was sure there was no way any shop in town would have a caliper in stock. The folks at Ashland Mountain Adventures recommended Siskiyou Cyclery and I went there on a total whim. My group was leaving for Oakridge the next day and I was convinced I was SOL. When I walked into Siskiyou they took one look at the bike and confirmed my fears about Shimano's supply chain issues. I was crestfallen. Just when I thought all hope was lost, the mechanic (I think his name was Ben) pulled out a SLX brake set-up that would work for my bike. He got it repaired, mounted and ready to ride within 2.5 hours, and the shop was BUSY. These dudes saved my mountain bike trip. I can't thank them enough. The bike rode great, and the new brake system held up to the rigors of another run in Ashland, and a week of trails in Oakridge. These guys get it. I highly recommend this shop. read more

I came up this past week from the bay area looking for a bike. After having looked online, researched a ton, and gone to every bike shop I could find between Oakland and Eugene, in the end, I found myself at Siskyou Cyclery. Actually, it wasn't exactly the end - after going there, I went up to Eugene, but ended up driving back down here. I was what must have been the most annoying possible customer for these guys. I came and went on two or three different occasions, each time trying out several different bikes for hours and asking a ton of questions. Jeff and Isaac were like Zen Buddhist bike people in the way that they dealt with my constant, annoying questions. I wound up buying two bikes: a used mountain bike, which was in perfect shape; and a cross bike. They gave me a discount for the extra equipment that I bought to go with them, installed it all for free, face me lessons on how to remove and service parts, and even helped load them onto my car, which I don't think they are normally wont to do. I'd like to get my wife a bike as well, and while it may seem crazy that I would drive five or six hours up here to do so, after my experience at Siskyou Cyclery, it's a no-brainer. read more

Not only did I find the right trail from their map skills; I got new grips and a smile out the door. I would buy from them again and again and again! I found the staff to be un-attentive, distracted and rude. I had left a bike for diagnosis repair and was in the shop to determine the extent of work to be done on it. When I entered the store both clerks did not look up or say hello. One was helping a client, the other was on the phone. My 8 yr old and I wandered around the store and were finally greeted when the transaction with the other clients was completed. I explained our mission then the phone rang and the clerk who was "helping" us answered the phone and then went to the computer screen. I was at this point feeling next to invisible and simply wanted to find out the status of the bike I had left for diagnosis/repair. I asked the other clerk to assist me and I got a bunch of excuses such as I was helping someone else, now he is on the phone. I requested they return my bike and I will have it serviced elsewhere. There are other bike shops in Ashland where respecting the customer is standard operating procedure, sadly, that is not the case at Siskiyou Cyclery. read more

I was looking for a very specific type of shoes, cleats, and pedals for my son and it was recommended to me that I check the specialized brand- while researching the product I was disappointed because I thought the nearest place I could find what I needed would be in Eugene- I called Siskiyou Cyclery and spoke with Jeff- he was very knowledgable about the brand, the body geometrics, and specifically the type of shoes and inserts that I wanted to purchase- they don't have the body geometry system that you stand on but he did a great job fitting my son with the appropriate shoes and inserts for him- we tested them at the track last night and he loved them- the power deliver is very impressive and my son described them as a "game changer" thanks to Jeff for being so helpful and knowledgable we will definitely be back read more

I stopped in here while I was out running errands because my bike was acting funny. I had changed my tire earlier and I didn't put the brakes back together correctly. They helped me fix my brakes and even pumped up my tire for me. I know that a place that will help a random person is a good place and if I ever need anything for my bicycle I will go back there. I brought my bike in for a quick brake bleed. The staff was super nice and made it happen. Unfortunately moments after dropping in on an Ashland Shuttle run my brake pads flew out of the caliper due either an overtightened bolt or maybe it didn't get tightened at all. Regardless I had an extra pair of pads and a zip tie which got me down the mountain. Yet I was left with a cracked brake caliper, a now useless bleed and lost a set of brand new pads. I understand they were rushing to get my bike done but this could have led to a pretty bad accident. I didn't go back to tell them and I won't be going back in the future. I recently purchased a bike rack in Eugene. I needed a lock for it and the young man at Siskiyou was so helpful. He told me part number that I needed and said it would be cheaper to get it my home town since I don't live in Ashland. Very nice, thoughtful and wish I had bought the rack from them originally. With a lot of bike shops to choose from, even in my own town (Medford), I was looking for a shop to help rebuild my bike who knows what they are doing and weren't just trying to empty my wallet and do a halfass job. I needed a lot of work done on my bike (new shocks, gears, cables, etc.,) and was recommended by some friends to come here, so I thought I'd try them out. Jeff was very helpful in his emails, and let me know what it was going to cost based on the information I gave him, unlike other shops who either didn't respond, or just wrote (Bring it in for an evaluation.) I brought in my bike, and it was done the next day. I was shocked how fast he was able to rebuild my bike. There are only 1-2 guys working, so please don't expect to get in an out ASAP. I made an appointment because I heard it can get busy with walk-ins. Overall, I was highly satisfied with the friendliness, how knowledgeable the staff is, how quickly they were able to do major work on my bike, and the price based on all that I needed done. There are a lot of items for sale in the store too, so if you are waiting, there's a lot to check out. I will definitely be coming back for future repairs and will always recommend this shop.
