Came here for a family dinner. Great location and awesome water views! One of those places that the ambiance views is enough to make patrons return. People were actually fishing right outside by the parking lot too which looked relaxing... Now for the food. We started off with appetizers and it was oysters and poke tuna tower. Not an oyster person myself. Brother in law and wife had them and they enjoyed them saying they were fresh. The poke tuna tower was good but it lacked salt and needed more sauce. It seemed like the sauce was only on the plate and not mixed with the ingredients. But the ingredients were fresh and the chips were served hot with some seasoning on them. For mains we had "Fish n Chips" and a bowl of clam chowder. Well it was more of a cup as they forgot we had ordered a bowl. Flavor was there but the temp was like warm and I'm a type that wants it a little more hot. The "Fish n Chips" for me wasn't the traditional plate when you read the name of the dish. Fish n Chips for me is flaky strips of fish or beer battered. This fish was more of a solid piece and breaded. But the seasoning was amazing!! The flavor was there so that made it up for me. But I'm a guru to fish n chips so I had a different vision of it. We did upgrade to the mahi mahi on it and that was really tendered. The fries were a little bland and the sweet potatoes fries were really chewing and dry. The menu had some great options that we want to try therefore we will be back to return again. TLDR: Waterfront seafood restaurant (often busy, with a long wait for dinner) with delicious food (still thinking about the pecan snapper and key lime pie). Good kids menu with the option to add protein (chicken or carnitas). This place exceeded my expectations. I did set them fairly low considering this is a touristy waterfront type of restaurant. FOOD: Delicious food here! Large menu too. Good clam chowder -- I only got a small cup but it was generously clammy. My grilled shrimp was good but usually most places can get that right. The asparagus side was cooked just right -- still had that crisp to it. However, the show stealer was hubby's pecan snapper. It was a big portion. The fish was also thick with a nice thin breading. Really dang good. I don't often grab dessert but I'm a fan of key lime pie -- their version did not disappoint. Delicious. KIDS FOOD: One of the best kids menus I've seen in a while. They've got a few deep fried options (chicken, fish, shrimp, corn dogs) as well as not fried (grilled cheese or mac and cheese). The part that really stood out was the option to add chicken, carnitas, or bacon to the mac and cheese. I got my son the mac and cheese with chicken on the side and they brought a large plate of chicken! It was delicious diced chicken too -- my son loved it! It was great to have a kid-friendly protein option since it's always fried junk or carbs galore. I should also add that the mac and cheese was real macaroni with melted cheese on top (not that fake goopy boxed type mac and cheese). They offer crayons and coloring paper to keep kids occupied while they wait. WAIT: I see a lot of negative reviews for the long wait. I mean -- it's a popular place, should you really hold that against them? I would probably avoid this spot for dinner on a weekend for this reason. We came for lunch on a Saturday (midday). There was no wait and we got a window table (we requested one). VIBE: Exactly what I wanted. Nice view of the water -- saw lots of fishing boats go by, a cool bird, and even a dolphin! The place is large and full of people but it's also pretty spacious with enough room between tables. SERVICE: Friendly and pretty attentive. BATHROOM: Cool chalkboard walls where you can leave your thoughts. There were some charmingly positive sentiments written in my stall. PARKING: Limited spots right outside of the restaurant but there is a large lot where people park their boats next door. No issue finding a spot there (early Saturday afternoon). read more

I'm actually not sorry to leave a negative review, but this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we've had. Don't go unless you're prepared to wait FOREVER. We arrived around 8:00 p.m. and waited about 45 minutes to an hour just to be seated. Once we were finally seated, we ordered a dozen oysters, three waters, two cocktails, and mac and cheese for our daughter. The drinks finally came, but they were incredibly weak. The biggest disappointment was the mac and cheese--it tasted like plain boxed Kraft macaroni, which was shocking for a restaurant. We placed our dinner order and then waited another hour and 45 minutes without receiving any food. By this point, it was 10:30 p.m., and our daughter had already finished eating and was exhausted. Our waiter, Kalen, was actually very polite, energetic, and apologetic throughout the night. He kept checking in and apologizing for the kitchen delays, so I don't blame him, he could have had an upper hand- and gotten aggressive and made an impact on timing. Unfortunately, after waiting nearly 2 1/2 hours from the time we arrived, we still never received our meals. My husband had to go to the front twice to cancel our order because we finally gave up and left hungry. The waiter again was nice but he could have done more and the manager competed our water and our daughters Mac and cheese. When we walked out - she had the audacity to give us a sad face - maybe you should have thought about your feelings while trying to get our food. It was truly a disgusting and horrible experience. We understand restaurants get busy, but waiting that long without food or any meaningful communication is unacceptable. We won't be returning. Ambiance gets a high score because of the proximity to lots of boating action and the great panoramic views from the dining areas. We found the food to be acceptable, but very slow action out of the kitchen. My guess is they were shorthanded there, because many tables wee not occupied. Fortunately the bar must have been fully staffed, because the drinks came out post haste. Try the crab tower as appetizer, though it could serve as a light lunch too. The soft shell crab Po Boy was good, with two very large ones, but the sauce that came on the side left us wanting something different. We also had the Ahi salad and the fish taco. I was surprised that everything we got here was good. We got 6 entrees and everything was delightful. At one point we had 4 different kinds of potato on the table the server did a great job pre-bussing the table (it was almost too much at one point lowkey). The views were soooo incredible in there. Paradise Key is kind of my go to place for seafood, cold drinks and a great view. My family and I stopped here after spending a couple of hours at the beach. We were told there would be an hour wait and that was no problem, any good restaurants in the area having a seaside view will all have the same wait time. We were seated after about an hour and our server took our order and brought our drinks. Unfortunately, some kind of glitch happened on our servers tablet and our order never made it to the kitchen. After about 40 minutes our server brought us some queso and chips and was very apologetic about the delay. I think if they weren't so understaffed our server would have noticed we didn't have our food and would have rectified the situation sooner. Our food finally came after an hour had passed. Everyone enjoyed their food and our server was great, it certainly wasn't her fault. Come on Paradise Key management, do better! read more

It was ok. We got on the list an hour in advance, but still had to wait an hour once we were 1st. It was a bit uncomfortable. They don't have any sound muffling, so it's incredibly loud. The food was pretty expensive but relatively good. We had to wait quite a long time just for chips and queso and then our meals. Our server, Kaylee, did pretty well, she just seemed busy. Hadn't really had luck finding a nice restaurant that accepted pets. I was weary of this one due to the poor rating but we gave it a try. We waiting about 20 minutes to get sat which was fine, we sat outside and enjoyed the view and the birds and jumping fish. Our waitress was friendly and kind, we ordered a couple beers and enjoyed the ambiance, a lot better than the other restaurant we went to where it was complete silence. As a second-choice restaurant, this place is ok to good. We were going to eat dinner at Doc's seafood but they are closed until Wednesday to replace the floor in the restaurant. Bummer! Anyway, I was told that this place was good or better than Doc's. It's not even close. Food was ok - I had the Pecan crusted snapper. There was no crust. It was just thin breading. There was not a pecan in sight. The fish was tasty though. I should have ordered the cilantro sauce. The shrimp etouffe sauce was not that good. The good news is their green beans were delicious! Don't get their Rice pilaf - enough said! Our server had to endure coming back a few times to assure us that the food was coming. After over an hour, our food arrived. That was a long wait. Lunch Mar 2025 Normally here on the 4th of July weekend, in March the crowds for lunch aren't bad. You get to look out the widows and watch the wildlife and the changing scenery. Decided to try some appetizers for lunch, a crab cake (no photo), wonton wrapped shrimp and artichoke crab dip. All very tasty and fresh. OUTSTANDING! Loved everything about this place! The view of the water was nice and chill; the staff was super friendly and personable. Our server, Chrissy was a lot of fun and the manager, Erica was genuinely interested in our dining experience. The seafood was so fresh! Party of 14. They weren't staffed properly. Once we got sat, it took maybe 10-15mins for our server to greet us, we went ahead and ordered food with our drink orders - we're a big party, might as well order everything. Drinks came in a decent about of time for a large party. Then we played the waiting game. For a large party, we expect to wait a little longer than an average sized party, so we chatted, had a good time hanging out with each other. We didn't start wondering where our food was until it was past 45mins after ordering. We wait longer...our drinks are being refilled...it's almost 9p and still no food! So, we find our server at the POS to tell them we want to cancel our whole dinner. We'll pay for what we did get (a couple of appetizers and drinks) - we just need to leave. She says ok and "it takes 30mins to make the food" but it was well over that time frame but I wasn't going to argue with her, she goes to the back I assume, and miraculously our food is coming out - all of it. We decide to just go ahead and stay and eat real fast because we gotta go. The food WAS AWFUL. You can tell our food was just SITTING there for God knows how long, getting cold and hard at their expo!! The fish was dry, chips were stale, mashed potatoes were crusted over as it was starting to harden on the outer layer, people had to get their food taken off bc they couldn't eat it...some people liked their food, cos how can you really screw up a burger or a "soup" you just reheat in the back? Flavor isn't a thing there apparently...it was a waste of time and money. We left at 9p. We barely ate anything. We waited WAY TOO LONG for our food. We will never ever set foot in this place again and have already started telling people to not go there. This place is trash, in my opinion. I've been reluctant to provide a rating for Paradise Key. The service the last couple visits has been inconsistent, slower than usual, and not exactly pleasant interactions. That being said the food and drinks are the reason we keep going. Apps I recommend are the wings, peel and eat shrimp, and calamari. The fish tacos had a horrible slaw that was mushy and tasted like dish water on a store bought straight of the package flour tortilla with tomato slices. The sweet potato fries were dry and over cooked with an odd taste-might I say like dishwater again. Chips and queso tastes like Tostitos sauce out of a jar with Julio's chips.
