I love this place. I wish there was one in Huntsville where I live!! I ordered the lamb/beef gyro, chicken shawarma, veggie kebab, hummus with pita bread, and baklava. All delicious and much like what I had when living in Greece! The hummus is freshly made and awesome. The gyros were awesome with lots of meat, and the pita bread was so soft and perfectly warm. I wish there was more tzatziki sauce either on it or on the side, but it still tasted delicious. The baklava was the perfect finish for the meal. The best part of all of this is that I have enough left over for dinner! I also want to note how great the staff is. The guy that helped me at the bar and the way they communicated with the kitchen... You can tell they are customer focused and they want to make sure that you get what you want for the best price. The food is delicious with novel items like whipped feta with lemon. The baklava ice cream is tasty. My favorite is the Mezze platter with some seven items and lots of pita slices that feeds two or three people. Counter service with finished dishes served to tables inside and outside. It's just amazing every time. They are the only place in town that I like the tzatziki. Anyway I always get the steak swarma for pick up. It's always still hot when I get it home because they wrap it in foil before putting in the box. The shawarma, I can't explain. It's got lettuce and tomato on it, I always add feta cheese and get two sides of sauce. I don't quite care for the Greek fries but the regular ones are incredible. The food at Yasou was as good as any I've eaten in Cairo! I especially enjoyed the chicken shawarma, gyro, and baba ghanoush. Service is a little slow - but only because the amount of business exceeds their current staff. Come support this local restaurant and I'm sure that will change. Update: went back and got the Mediterranean salad which was quite tasty and the dolnades which were excellent! Tried the falafel again and still didn't care for them. I think that it's just a taste preference for me. But the other items were enough to encourage me to come back again. I saw a lamb chop special that I will hopefully try next time. read more

Shrimp kabob and soup. First time here, so I didn't realize it came with Taziki sauce already on top of it, or I would have asked for it on the side or not at all, since I'm kinda "meh" on Taziki anyway. The shrimp was absolutely drowning in the sauce, so when I scraped it off most of the seasoning on the shrimp came off with it. But, the shrimp was juicy, the salad crisp and the rice flavorful. The soup was my favorite part, though - so bright and delicious. Will come back and try some other dishes, and just be mindful of the sauces. read more

Selected this for lunch and I was NOT disappointed! Dolma does we're fork tender, the soup bowl was HUGE! (16 oz) and the small salad was big enough to fill me up. The ladies taking my order were training/being trained but they did not slow me down at all. Ask for your veterans discount, not sure how much it saved me but just having one is more than enough to bring me back. Real plates, bowls, cups and silverware make it a meal worth sitting down and enjoying! read more

Minimal service. Must order at counter. Lamb (kebab) heavily marinated but tasty. Unfortunately, over cooked and dry. baba ghanoush a bit sour tasting. Hard to detect the eggplant. There was smokiness but this was the least tasty I've had anywhere. The falafel seemed machine made and were dry and also small. Rice OK but boring. The tahini helped the falafel but not much was provided. Tzatziki also helped with the dry falafel. Some pita soft and fresh, other pieces rather stale. Small salad came with no dressing but I used the ample portion of tzatziki which worked. Friends had gyros which they enjoyed despite relatively small portion of meat. Went here today for lunch upon the recommendation of my daughter. Yasou Cafe didn't disappoint! I ordered a Mediterranean salad with Chicken schawarma. I am thankful the girl who took my order asked whether i wanted a small or large salad. I ended up with the small and it was plenty! Good fresh greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, roasted red peppers, feta, kalamata olives and roasted pecans. Nice light dressing. Just what I needed for a healthy lunch. For $3 I added the chicken. There was so much it covered my plate! Definitely worth what I paid and happy not to break the bank for lunch. I am tired of paying $15-20 for a salad!! The restaurant was very clean and bright and outdoor seating plentiful. Will definitely be returning. Happy they are also open for dinner. A welcomed addition to Tallahassee. This is my third time eating at Yasou as I live close and I absolutely love food from the Mediterranean. I have tried the steak kabobs, shrimp kabobs, the gyros and the Yasou Fries. To get straight to the point I would rather go to Zoe's, Sahara Cafe, and Pitaria! the steak kabobs have been charred and dry every time I have ordered them. It's not realistic for me to expect medium but I was thinking they would be medium well not WELL DONE. This may be why I think the other establishments named above have more tender steak, because of the cooking level. After being let down twice I stopped ordering the steak and ordered the shrimp instead, which is probably your best bet because they weren't nearly as tough. I have also ordered the Greek fries once and the Yasou fries twice. Every single time the fries are warm or they taste like they've been reheated in a microwave. I know every establishment may not cook their fries until crispy but one time they must have been rushing because the cheese for the Greek fries wasn't even melted. As for the the gyro, it was pretty good and I recommend trying it, but it seems like Pitaria's meat is either seasoned more thoroughly or the seasoning is just more prominent than at Yasou's. read more

Don't be fooled by the yuppy appearance of the inside.. the food is phenomenal. First time I went, the owner took my order; he was very nice. I ordered the mixed meat platter. I had to wait a little longer than I wanted to (20 min) but I am pretty sure that is because they make the chicken kabob to order. It was worth it! I later went back for a chicken kabob platter (waited 15 min).. best thing I've ever had at a Mediterranean restaurant. Also, they have the best baklava ever. Some things are a bit pricy, but I think the food quality matches the price. The only thing that was disappointing was the falafel.. small, too much fennel, and overcooked (probably because they are too small). But, the chicken kabob and baklava warrant 5 stars. read more

I'm surprised this place isn't busier, as everything I've tried here has been good, they have cold beer, and the lemony whipped feta is one of the most delicious and addictive flavors in the State. The salmon, kafta, shawarma, Greek fries, and baklava are all worth revisiting. Stopped by on a whim and never regretted it. Best gyro I have ever had, my husband had the chicken shawarma & he said he liked my gyro better. Also had the dolmades which were made fresh and so delicious. First time eating buffalo falafel, which wasn't too bad. What was the kicker was their avgoleono soup! So much flavor with just the right amt of lemon in it. We were told that traditionally there's egg in it but his chef talked him into trying it without. Smart man listened to his chef. Very friendly and helpful staff with plenty of seating inside and a few tables outside. The night that we went there were no diners but they were plenty busy with pick up orders. We dined in so they could feel like a real restaurant and help attract more diners. You should do the same. read more

I've had takeout from Yasou twice so far and loved it both times! My first time, I got a chicken pita which I was so happy with, and the second time I got a salmon platter - delicious. Two of my favorite things about Yasou: rice pudding and Greek fries. Their rice pudding is sweet and rich, a great after dinner dessert and a large portion - could easily be split in two. The Greek fries are SO yum and indulgent, covered in cheese and seasoned well. The Greek fries might not be a great takeout option as the cheese will always be the meltiest straight out of the kitchen, but they're still delicious by the time I bring them home. So after a pretty laid back Saturday, we decided to check out this new Restaurant. When arriving. We were welcomed into a very clean and wonderful atmosphere. I really liked the color scheme and friendly staff and environment. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate. It was so freaking delicious. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the salad was scrumptious. They also have quite a few beers on tap from the local breweries. We will definitely return and try their desserts next time. Finally got out to Yasou Fresh Mediterranean Cafe at Southwood for a late lunch today. It was delightful ! Super clean, plenty of socially distanced indoor and outdoor dining, staff and patrons masked. Food was fresh and more than plentiful- leftovers will be another full meal. I am from this neighborhood. I was very excited to see a new restaurant near my house. I ordered the chicken shawarma and the kebabs. Both were awful. The kebabs were undercooked and there was literally no flavor at all. The shawarma was okay-ish but it was missing the flavors too. I did get the chicken soup which was somehow better. The cooking staff is rude, cussed me, and refused to apologize. Today I went into this business to try out their different kabobs. I ordered a mix of kabobs which included beef and chicken. I told the lady taking my order that I didn't want them overcooked and dry, and if she could ask the cooking staff to cook them so they were still juicy. She relayed the message to the cook and he said he couldn't do that with chicken. I guess Chick-fil-a and other businesses can do magic with chicken? Had it ended there I wouldn't be writing this review. This is what transpired after that. Cook says loud enough for me to hear - "You have to cook chicken to a certain temperature, doesn't he know that? He's like that guy last week who tried to do the same thing. I'm not going to serve salmonella. haha At this point I had heard enough and said - "If you have something to say it me" Cook "I wasn't talking to you" Me "Yes you were, you were just talking about me ordering chicken" Cook "No were were talking about another customer" Me "So you weren't talking about undercooked chicken which I just ordered? The cook looked down at this point and I'm not sure what he said but I think it was "You don't want to mess with me" then he looks up and stares straight into my eyes. Me "You want to come say that to my face?" Manager "What's going on?" Cook "Nothing, this guy's just talking shit to me" Me "You're the one talking shit dude" At this point my wife was giving me "the look" and I see the whole restaurant is watching so I let it go. The manager comes out and defends the guy repeating what the cook said about talking about another customer, and how it was just a misunderstanding. I nodded and smiled to appease my wife, but I KNOW he hear the guy cussing, and didn't say a thing to him about it so I guess that's acceptable behavior for their staff there. Guess what? The chicken kabobs were so overcooked and dry they were uneatable. I wouldn't recommend the place. read more

The falafels were very very small and tasted like burnt oil.
