The first time I visited this place, it was really good. The inside isn't very pretty, but you can tell they maybe you've recently opened. I went on a weekend and there were definitely a lot of students working, but they all seemed really friendly, and one in particular seemed like he'd worked there longer and was really focused on doing a great job. The food was really good and exactly as I expected it. It was actually really good and I wanted to try this place again before I left town. I tried to go back a week later, but they were very randomly closed for maintenance. I tried for a third time to get dinner and the service was terrible. I came inside, they have a bell that rings when the door opens, I could hear people behind the counter and I saw someone at the drive-through waiting for their food so I thought I would patiently wait. When the worker came to give food to the drive-through, they did greet me. Then they yelled to the people in the back and no one came to the counter to help her. She then walked to the back for a moment, came back to the counter, but told me she would have to take the next drive-through person before she took my order. Long story short, I decided to leave and go somewhere else. I could hear multiple people in the kitchen area. The person I did see was very frustrated and asked for help but I didn't see the other two people at all. they are definitely working out some kinks, so I'd give them some time to sort things out if you live in the area. We don't live in Tallahassee but had appointments in town today. I wanted a good Gyro and that's exactly what I got at Pitaria! Our food was freshly made to order. Noticed a Pitaria sign on the old Subway and stopped in to check it out. There were cars wrapped around the building for the drive thru and a couple customers ahead of me in line inside. Busy as they were they got my food to me in about 10 minutes. I got a hummus pita, the gyro supreme, pita fries and a self-serve fountain soda. The portions were huge and the food delicious. I actually ended up eating with a knife and fork. The hummus pita was my favorite at the Pitaria Express down the street and is my favorite here as well (so far). I also love the seasoning on the pita fries and the tzatziki dipping sauce. Interested in trying the kabobs next time. Quite a few people came in behind me, so word is definitely out about this place. Pandemic-specific info: Staff were wearing masks. Hand sanitizer is available for customers. They did not ask me to sign my receipt. That said, tables looked dirty and social distancing did not appear to be being enforced, so maybe don't dine in. Pitaria is a Tallahassee classic. It was my favorite place to go during college and I was sad when they closed temporarily. Their lamb gyros are excellent and the pita fries are good too. I would not recommend the chicken gyro however (it's dry). They have a relatively quick drive-thru, but the restaurant is a little difficult to get to if you are approaching from the east because you have to do a u-turn. I got my food at the drive-thru this time around so I wasn't sure if they still have the delicious deserts they used to sell at the counter. Next time! Overall I'm glad they're back! read more

Pitaria is conveniently located on Apalachee Parkway and has a drive through that is great for ordering to go. I've been a few times and have gotten the gyro combo Supreme style- that means extra mushrooms, tomatoes and feta cheese. So tasty! I also enjoyed the tabbouleh salad, the regular salad and pita fries. There are a few Mediterranean style restaurants, and this one is a great and convenient option. read more

When we realized we made a mistake with part of our order after placing it, every single staff member was incredibly friendly and understanding. Worst Greek Restaurant in Tallahassee. Everything in the menu is second-hand bought items from Walmart or Sam's. Lacks of food originally. Essentially, it is fake Greek food. There is nothing special about this place. Dessert like Baklava is acquired from Ben E. Keith food service and not homemade like they claim to be. The owner inherited this business, so basically She has no clue how to run a Greek restaurant properly. Employees turnover is high because of her unnecessary micromanaging freakouts at all times. Homeless people frequently hang out at this location. Generally, they get a free meal for the visit. So basically, if you want a free meal, tell them you are homeless, and employees will gladly reward you with a free fake gyro meal. read more

My mom and I went through drive through one night to pick up dinner. There was only one car in front of us and it moved fast. It appears drive in is pretty popular during COVID times. We got gyro supremes, greek fries, greek salad and a hummus pita. For some confusing reason you can only get chicken shawarma as kabobs and they take at least fifteen minutes. So unfortunately I did not get to try that. Everyone enjoyed the gyro supremes. The greek fries were not really special in any way so I wouldn't get those again. I was craving Greek food so my sister brought us to Pitaria. It's a small place that doesn't look like much on the outside. They have a pretty simple menu on the wall so I recommend looking through their online menu for a more detailed description of each item (note the price differences though). I got the vegetarian platter and my sister ordered the garden pita wrap with a side Greek salad. There was just one other party already sitting down eating so it only took about ten minutes for us to get our food. The platter came with hummus and veggies for dipping, pita bread, falafel, tabouleh, and stuffed grape leaves. Everything was delicious - the tabouleh being my favorite (always) with the perfect freshness and zestiness. I'd never tried the grape leaves before and I wasn't a huge fan of the texture of the leaves themselves but the taste was delicious. I ended up opening up the rest of them and just eating the inside... so yummy! My sisters garden pita was amazing! It had cucumbers, tomato, olives, mushrooms, onions, and taziki sauce. It was a little messy to eat, but all good things are. Her side salad was delicious - the dressing was super yummy and fresh. Prices were reasonable - everything came with drinks I paid around $25 for both our meals. I'd love to come back and try some of their grilled dishes! read more

Went through the drive through and ordered the chicken souvlaki platter with a Greek salad. It smelled heavenly, and although it was quite juicy, the chicken was lacking in flavor. Had to add salt and pepper, and then it was much better. Some of the lettuce in the salad was already wilted, and the cucumber was a little slimy on the edges, which told me it was getting old. The dressing that came with it was essentially just red wine vinegar and not much, if any, oil (which I actually like) - so it was *very* tart and caused the cheeks to pucker a little bit. Again, while it may be my speed, I can see where it would not be for everyone. Would probably give a half star more if I could. Not terrible, but nothing I'd recommend. read more
