I was on a tight budget and needed about $3000 worth of major cleanup in my yard. Just bought 2 acres and a house in Chino Valley in June 2017. The yard had been neglected for over 15 years. Cottonwood trees overgrown with suckers as high as the main trunk. Ugly black plastic erupting from the layer of rocks and looking really bad. I hate black plastic and wanted the weeds and grass to grow freely. A weed is only a weed if it grows where you do not want it to. I do not like anything linear and defining so the lava rock rings around the 4 willow trees had to go and the whole yard needed some love. I had 4 landscape companies come out for an estimate and all 4 gave the the mantra of "your project is not doable because of your small budget." What? Just because I am a "small potato" does not mean I do not qualify for your workers. They wanted a budget of over $10,000 AND THAT WAS NOT GONNA HAPPEN. Grrr. I knew what I wanted done but was open to ideas but not more money. So looking thru the weekly shopper I found Yavapai Landscaping and called them. I told them I was small potatoes and would they give me an estimate for my desired aesthetics. Nathan was so comforting and assured me they will work with me and take my direction as to what I wanted. It is often hard for men to listen to a woman and get the same picture in their head that I had in my mind. But Nathan and Devon were very professional and understood that I wanted a free flowing rock scape and plastic removed and no other weed control used. A natural vibe - serene and undefined. I hired them and am so happy with the work they did. I could hear my overgrown yard breathe a huge sigh of relief as they methodically trimmed trees, pulled plastic, hauled trash to their dumpster. The bobcat work was so expertly done by Louis that I asked if they could level my back yard and how much would that cost. The gopher farm in the back was a tripping hazard for me and too uneven to risk a fall. So I now have no more gopher holes and a smoother yard. BTW: That bobcat work was a free-bee. The work crews were very polite, respectful of this retired USAF woman who knew the vision she wanted (me), and best of all no Spanish was spoken - that is professional in my ethics book. All-in-all when they finished the initial cleanup job and I charged it to my credit card I am a very happy camper. rd art About 2 weeks later I called Nathan back and negotiated the price of putting in a 6ftx20ft paver sidewalk from the drivewayto the front porch. The estimate was within my credit limits and I not only got the beautiful paver sidewalk but also splurged and got a slice of heaven in the front ard. I now have a 10 x 15 foot green scape of high quality "astro" turf right out my front door. It is lined with the same pavers and is very sturdy with the wind and rain storms. I planted a plastic pink flamingo on my lawn (it is not a putting green) and sun bleached flamingos and other yard art (turtles, gnomes, lizards, etc) that no one wants. I can't say enough great things about Yavapai Landscaping. From my first contact with Jan, to the consultation/estimate by Anthony, through the actual work done by (crew chief) Levi, Justin, and Tyler, Yavapai employees were helpful, friendly, accommodating, and professional. We needed extensive work done on our 1.25 acre property, which was seriously overgrown. We have dozens of scrub oaks and several junipers and pinons, none of which had ever been attended to. Additionally, we have large expanses of open areas that were covered in overgrown native grasses, weeds, cholla, and tumbleweeds. In three days, Levi, Justin and Tyler transformed our property from wild and unsightly to beautiful and inviting, without compromising the natural look that our HOA requires to be maintained. Plus, we feel more secure now that everything has been trimmed to "firewise" standards. Levi is an artist with a chain saw! Two of the very worst looking large scrub oaks are now attractive focal points in our back yard. At every step of the way, Levi listened to what we had in mind, and was careful to make our "vision" a reality. Justin also conferred with us several times during the work, to make sure he was creating the "look" we had in mind. His attitude was sunny and helpful, always a smile on his face. Tyler was like a combination of a work horse and the Energizer Bunny. He just kept going, and going, and going. Every time I looked out the window, he was hard at work. The three of them not only arrived on time and did all the work that was on the work order, they went over and above to do a couple of things we asked which weren't on the work order. In other words, nothing was beyond the "scope of work" for them. They were here to make our property look as we envisioned, and that's what they did! We are so delighted with the results, and with the high quality of the people at Yavapai Landscaping, that we are happy to hire them now to do regular maintenance to keep our place looking as great as it does now. Ted Ferris, his crew (Rolando aka Miami, Miguel, Patrick and Tono) and Yavapai Landscaping more than exceeded our expectations. Coming from San Diego, we were used to a very different type of landscaping. Ted spent a considerable amount of time with us discussing the environment, weather and wildlife in Prescott Valley and the best options. We wanted to put in landscaping that would not have to be redone in 2 years or require daily manual maintenance. Ted took us around the area pointing out what works, what doesn't and what to watch for (blister beetles, grasshoppers, etc.). He also took us to his completed jobs to give us ideas and to show us the quality of Yavapai Landscaping's work. He truly held our hand thru the entire process. Our job was fairly large (2-acres of rocky, weedy desert land, irrigation, over 180 tons of rock, extensive paver-work, lots of plants and trees, etc.) The end result was more than exceptional. We were assigned one crew, who stuck with us for the whole job. They showed up everyday at 6am and didn't leave until 6pm. Ted was at the site almost everyday, which ended up being a godsend as we had a few changes to the contract after our job was started. Ted's answer to our changes every time was - no problem! The crew was friendly, respectful and left our home more than broom clean everyday. I wanted to adopt all of them! Miami, Miguel, Patrick and Tono - we cannot thank you enough!! I have to tell you.... I live across the street from a property Yavapai Landscaping has been working on. I can not believe what I have just witnessed! These guys have worked about 10 hours a day on a property which included front, side, and back elevations. They have done an amazing - ARTISTIC - job! But that isn't even the point. They just finished up and I watched them sweep the street in front of the house they have been working on, the street in front of my house, the vacant lot next door that they used for staging huge piles of rock, sand, and dirt, and left the entire area cleaner and more tidy than when they arrived. Not to mention, the fabulous job they did on the landscaping of the entire property. I am absolutely speechless at the quality of the work I have just spent a week watching and the difference it has made in our immediate environment. These guys may be the hardest working, most diligent, and with incredible attention to detail I have ever seen. They didn't work for me, improve my property in any way (except to raise my property values by what they did to the adjacent property), nor do I have any connection with any of them. Ted, and his team at Yavapai Landscaping, are outstanding! From our first discussion, Ted completely understood our vision and what we hoped to achieve. He provided us with ideas, options and educated us on the quality of different products/manufacturers. He returned all our phone calls/texts promptly, and turned around a competitive estimate for us just hours after viewing our property. Ted's team at Yavapai, started our yard weeks ahead of the projected timeline. They showed up every day on time or even early...always with smiles, good music and the best attitudes. We hired Yavapai Landscaping to design and install our backyard and to make some improvements in our front yard in Prescott Valley, AZ. Ted, our sales representative did a great job with our design and was extremely helpful in selecting the various plants placed throughout the yard. He has been very responsive to any needs or questions we have had. Ted's work crews headed by Hugo and Mario are excellent at their jobs. Their teams take great care in the work they perform and are some of the hardest working people we have ever encountered. They worked many hours per day and were very efficient in getting the job completed. Their attention to detail in performing their work was excellent. The entire process was painless, including any items that needed to be permitted by the city. Yavapai handled all of that paperwork and set all appointments to have inspectors come to our site. All of their work passed inspections without any issues. Yavapai was competitively priced compared to other landscaping companies we shopped, but we selected them because we felt more secure with what they offered. We worked with Ted Ferris to design and install our landscaping in the front and back of our home in April of 2022. We live in an HOA community, therefore we have some semi-strict rules that needed to be followed, and Ted and crew were more than happy to accommodate. I HIGHLY recommend Yavapai Landscaping. Today is the second time I have used their services and they have been wonderful both times. Nathan (the owner) was very kind and made the job very price-worth. Lester and Bernardo came to do the work. They were punctual, very kind and they went above and beyond. I had a gate installed recently and didn't even realize that the gate was not opening properly because of some stones that were placed there by my HOA. The stones were obstructing the opening of the gate. In addition to doing the work agreed upon, the hard working men moved the stones and made the gate functional. This was not part of the work that I discussed with Nathan but they did what they saw needed to be done. They said they did the job as though they were doing it for themselves or for their families. We recently had our backyard landscaping done by Yavapai Landscaping. Simply Awesome!! ... We could NOT be more pleased. It came out even better than we had anticipated. Ted Ferris provided outstanding guidance and suggestions throughout the process. Yavapai did all of the coordination to obtain HOA approval for the design. Made it so easy. After our initial plan had been worked in the backyard, we were so satisfied, that we decided to include some add-ons in the front yard. We have to say that Ted Ferris' crew, led by Hugo, is the hardest working landscaping crew that we have ever seen ... working sunrise to sunset. Dustin was exceptional in coordinating the gas line upgrade work (with UniSource and also City inspectors), plus handling a few other project tasks.
