The person who did my massage had to call their manager because they couldn't speak English to me and then the manager yelled at me telling me I need to abide by their rules when I was never made aware that gift cards are for treatments not amount was so rude on the phone need better management. never buy a gift card from here. I've been coming here for years but recently when I tip I'm met with some blank stares from them as if they are expecting more when I tip 20-25% each time. Has anyone else experienced this? This is a very cute locally-owned shop. Not everyone speaks English, but those who don't use a Google translator on their phone for you to speak into, which automatically translates for them. The service was superb this last Sunday. We made reservations online for the Bishop Arts District location of this YaYa Foot Spa, and was so easy to sign up, locate this store and get started with the works. We opted for one hour each of the "foot reflexology" plus detox, two gentlemen crew persons did the work. The entire session was quite relaxing, comforting, smooth and we were very glad to have this done. The chairs are oversized and very comfortable. They use a timer while providing their service so you are able to verify that you get the appropriate time. They offered a complimentary tea before the massage. It was a nice touch, but not quite my taste. The ambience was as expected. It did seem pretty warm during my massage. I love this place, have been going for three plus years. There are quite a few therapists but several have been with them for as long as I've been going, and those tenured therapists are fantastic. Especially the friendly boss lady (she is really really good and very sweet) and an older gentleman. They'll both go hard if you like. Upon arrival I was super excited as this was my first visit here and it had been a really long time since I partook in some self care. There was a lady employee giving a massage that was very kind and smiling that greeted me. Several men were sitting in the back waiting for customers I guess. One man got up and set up for my massage. I don't think they spoke much English as the lady was the one doing the talking. The man that gave my massage maybe said 4 words to me. I don't want chatty but asking what I expect or want most would be nice. I had broken my ankle last year and wasn't sure how it would go, but it was fine. I didn't feel the man enjoyed his job and I felt I was just the next set of legs. I hope he finds enjoyment somewhere in life. There is a sign that says quiet please however 2 ladies were beside me were just chatting it up and I really just wanted to disconnect and enjoy my hour but no one asked them to stop so my mind kept drifting to their conversation. At checkout there is a sign that states "cash tips please" who knew! I didn't bring cash. The massage was fine less the hard massaging on the lower legs. If you haven't had a foot massage lately, GET THYSELF to YaYa right away. A whole hour...dedicated to your feet...it's both pleasure and pain wrapped up in a little zen package. I called ahead the first time (the day I started this review) and I'm not sure I needed to for a 1pm appointment, but it's a small place. Shortly after I walked in the first time, 3 women came in for appointments, so it got full pretty fast. And the 2nd visit they had to turn people away because they were full, but that was between 5pm - 6pm. Note to newbies: call ahead and book an appointment. If you've never had reflexology, you might want to review their website (which is very informative) about what to expect and what you will feel. I like the fact that there is a foot chart next to the chair, so when they hit a tender spot (for me, it's always my digestive tract) you can look it up and maybe link it to your current health issues. They do a standard massage over the entire foot, in a sequence (read up on it, it's an outline all reflexologists follow) then when they encounter some crystals (crunchy feeling areas in in the foot) those spots get extra attention as they try to work them out. They also get the top of your feet, your ankles, achilles tendon area, and shins/calves, all of which I never knew were sore until they dig in! It's both relaxing and painful, just like a deep tissue body massage. If you are a woman who wears heels (or flip flops that have no support) then you should know it's going to hurt in a good way. Everyone I have seen having reflexology at this spa seemed very relaxed, quiet and maybe even dozing a bit during their service so it's a nice experience - don't let me scare you from trying it! I've seen a difference in my feet after 3 visits (once a week). BTW, I saw several men here in the few times I've been so I'm thinking of booking my husband to go with me next time for a new treat. Why 3 stars? Well because it's not optimal for everyone. For me, it's fantastic...BUT...I have an incredibly flexible schedule, I don't need to chat when I get massage, I don't need to take friends with me, and I live very close so I can get in and out quickly. Also, I've had a couple of visits, and I was lucky enough to have Jason the first time and he is great for my needs. My second visit a woman worked on me for 15 min while I waited for Jason (I think there was a communication error) and she was much more heavy handed with the pressure, and seemed distracted by what was going on with others. Maybe she was the manager, I don't know. But I like the calming vibe that Jason puts out because, for the most part, it's a deep tissue massage on sensitive areas of my body, so less anxiety put out by others is best for me. For people who are more on the go, or less forgiving of the informal spa atmosphere, the Pros/Cons are for you! Pros: 1) quiet, comfy atmosphere with big chairs, low lighting and nice soothing music 2) foot soak and warm drink (not sure what it is) before the reflexology is nice 3) THE PRICE - having an hour dedicated to my feet for $36 is incredible 4) Jason my favorite therapist - he's calming and gentle, but uses enough pressure for you to feel that he working out all of the kinks. I'm sure I could try and communicate what's bothering me, but since he already works on it and finds it, I don't find it necessary to break up the flow. Cons: 1) almost no English spoken, which isn't a huge issue unless you want to tell them what areas are bothering you, and ask questions. Wait - that's almost a pro because it discourages chatty women from asking questions (I just thought of that!) 2) limited space - not a con for me personally because I don't get massages with a group of people (or anyone but maybe my hubby). They do have a room with 2-3 chairs (not sure how many chairs, I didn't go in it) but it's best to call ahead for seating for more than 1 person. 3) close seating - just like in trendy restaurants where your table is 8 inches from another 2-top, it's close to your neighbor. But, no one is chatting and there is no tv blaring, so you'll still have a quiet experience. 4) limited parking - every store in the strip has a few dedicated spots in front, then some open parking on the opposite side. No matter what time I go to this plaza (for this business or the 20 others I frequent) parking is always an issue. My suggestion is to grab Sonny Bryans, or Rafas, and then walk down to YaYa. Overall, I'm super pleased with the service, the clean & quiet atmosphere, and the price and I'm definitely a regular at this location. For me personally, I give it an "I love it" but I'm trying to be objective and informative for others here and give it the "A-ok". read more

I initially asked for 60 minutes, but once this abysmal skin massage began, I changed it to 40 minutes. I have had reflexology done for the last 8 years for sure. I know a good foot rub when I get it. I was invited here by a friend and it is apparent that she has not experienced better. The parking is horrible because it is in a strip mall and there is assigned parking. Thankfully I was able to get one close by the door at my appointment time 02/08 @ 8pm. Now this is a Friday and I like to wind down and truly be relaxed. My foot massages always do this for me.... Upon entering, I was not impressed with the decor. It definitely needs to be brought up to date compared to other establishments. I always do a 90 minute...why would I do anything differently? At least our appointment time was honored and we were able to take a seat as soon as we got there. We opted for what they call VIP.... Not!!!!. A bucket of lukewarm water with dried flower petals add lavender after...mehhh. OMG...why did I not come here and read the reviews. The Sumo looking guy that did my feet was not an expert in it. In fact, he was not doing reflexology at all. I felt no relief from what he was doing. Not to mention, he got up to tend to customers, stopped rubbing my feet because apparently he was tired...I was over it. Did I mention that it smell like feet in there That is not supposed to be like that! You can tell it is about the money not creating an experience for the customer. This is the first negative review I have ever written in regard to a business. I get Reflexology done on my feet almost weekly. There are several places I use. Last night I decided to try something closer to home. Unfortunately I did not look at the reviews. First a man dropped a somewhat warm tub by me and walked away. I had to pull the tub over and put my feet in. When I closed my eyes the first person that worked on my left foot just continually stabbed their fingernail in my foot over and over. Have never felt anything like it. This was not reflexology! Then they changed people. The person that worked on my right foot was worse!!! No pressure, did not know where to even put the pressure points, did not touch most of my foot. What a waste of time. When I opened my eyes the person appeared to be a young man in his late teens (maybe early 20s at best). He had no clue what he was doing. I LOVE reflexology. What they did to my feet was not reflexology. Hands down the worst experience I have had in a foot spa Dallas. On a positive.... people were pleasant and the spa was tidy and clean. read more
