One line item alone was $1,660 to install four hose bibbs (spigots)--something she never requested. There was no discussion about adding new hose bibbs or performing related work throughout the house that would justify this charge. For context, hose bibbs are inexpensive parts (around $5-$10 each at The Home Depot or similar retailers) and typically require minimal labor. We obtained two additional quotes from other plumbers: $4,500 and $3,900 for the same repair. Based on this experience, the pricing from Steve's was extremely inflated and concerning--especially given that the customer was an elderly homeowner. If you consider getting a quote from Steve's, I strongly recommend getting multiple estimates before proceeding.

My house on Keolu Hills was constructed in the late 1960s. I started having sewer line problems…read morewhich began when our kitchen sink drained slow. I contacted plumber 1, and they used a snake to remove the kitchen clog. After showing me the video of my sewer line after using the snake, plumber 1 told me that he wasn't able to remove the FOG (fat, oils, and grease) and recommended hydro-jetting. So, within two weeks plumber 1 returned and the FOG in the sewer line was removed by hydro-jetting. However, after a month, my master bedroom shower drain became clogged. I called plumber 2, who hydro-jetted my sewer line and provided me a video. The shower clog was removed. But plumber 2 said the video showed my cast-iron sewer pipes corroded and had no bottom. The video showed water flowing on dirt. Plumber 2 gave me quote 1 to repair my pipe by slip-lining. I called plumber 3 for a slip-lining quote because I felt I needed another quote to decide what was a fair repair cost. Plumber 3 came, video taped my sewer lines, and provided me quote 2 for slip-lining. Plumber Nos. 2 & 3, took time to explain what was involved in the slip-lining process. However, neither were successful in explaining to me how the house plumbing fixtures would reconnect with the existing pipes that were slip-lined. My mother-in-law recommended plumber 4, Nardo, owner of Ali`i Plumbing. Nardo explained to me the pros and cons of slip-lining. Three cons that helped me to not go with slip-lining are: 1) the diameter of the existing pipe will be reduced by the thickness of the liner, 2) in the event the sewer line got clogged the snake and hydro-jetting would destroy the liner, and 3) your pipe is structurally failed and has no bottom. Nardo took time to explain to me what he would do. My existing sewer lateral was three-inches, and Ali`i Plumbing will repair by installing a 4-inch diameter plastic pipe. Nardo installed a new sewer lateral system which ran along the perimeter of the house. He disconnected and capped the existing cast iron pipes. Ali`i Plumbing reconnected the interior plumbing fixtures to the new plastic pipe for my kitchen sink, washing machine and sink basin, master bedroom shower drain, master bedroom sink and toilet, main hallway bathroom sink, new shower, and toilet, and the half bath exterior bathroom with toilet and sink. Ali`i Plumbing's cost was lower than the lowest slip-lining quote. I'm enjoying the benefits of knowing I have new plastic pipe sewer lines with a higher capacity to expand by adding more plumbing fixtures and a second floor to my Keolu Hills house, in the event my children ever decided to return home after college and living on the mainland (CONUS). I highly recommend Nardo and Ali`i Plumbing for your plumbing problems. I am delighted. As a bonus, Nardo is an instructor at Honolulu Community College in the plumber's apprentice program. I am a delighted customer, and will recommend Nardo and Ali`i Plumbing to my family and friends.

Jason and company were totally amazing, I wish I could give them 6 stars…read more I was at my parents house yesterday afternoon. We noticed that when one toilet is flushed, the other would overflow. The sewer was backed up! This means they had no toilet/shower/anything. My dad lifted the toilet to get to the sewer line directly and still no luck. No luck through the cleanout either. I had to find a plumber fast because my mom is having some health/memory issues, and it would be very difficult for my parents if they didn't have a functioning system. I started to call around to find a plumber and noticed JNJ was located close to my parents house. I called, and he had some of his guys close by and available, they showed up within 20 minutes and began working on it. They were both very professional and cool, but unfortunately after trying for over an hour, the blockage was still immobile, the auger and snake couldn't do it. They said they needed bigger equipment to clear it, and would have to have Jason (owner) stop by later. Jason was on other side of island, but he called and said he was finishing up a job and would be there after. He showed up around 6pm, I believe with his son. I had to leave already but my dad told me how they worked and worked on the pipe for a long time and finally were able to make it through the blockage. They're still not sure what it was, but my dad was so happy with their service. They spent awhile cleaning up, resetting the toilet/wax seal my dad had pulled, and making sure everything was working. This must have been the end of a very long day for them as I think it was past 7pm when they finished. My dad is sort of old school, like he hates having things done by other people because he still thinks he can still do everything himself. But after seeing the hard work JNJ did and how great of a job they did, he was telling me how happy he was that he used them. He also said their price was very reasonable. I've had a few plumbing jobs here and there on my own place, and never found a place I'm 100% happy with, but now with JNJ I've found a new plumber that I would highly highly recommend.
