Samgye tang, cornish hen soup with ginseng
    Dang Y.

I love Korean food and been wanting to try this place. Went with my sister. We ordered the grilled mackerel and the cornish hen soup with ginseng and sweet rice. They serve a lot of banchan. All so good. We didn't wait long for the food. My sister and I really liked the grilled mackerel. Just the right amount of salt. I've had the ginseng soup before from another place and they have more ginseng. Their ginseng soup doesn't have a lot of ginseng and you can barely taste it. The soup is also lacking in flavor. They did give us I think a special salt in a small bowl/saucer on the side and maybe that is for the soup. We enjoyed it nonetheless. Good experience.

When I found out YD Tofu House serves galbi jjim, I had to check it out. Parking is limited. There is a parking lot, but it was full upon arrival. Luckily, there was a vehicle leaving. Otherwise, we would had to find street parking and walk to the restaurant. The servers were affable and welcoming. I love the vast variety of the banchan dishes. The seafood tofu soup was just okay. There was not much seafood in the soup. Will not order this in the future. The fried chicken was just okay as well as it was not well seasoned. Will not order this in the future as well. I absolutely love and enjoyed the spicy galbi jjim. The beef ribs were very tender and flavorful. I love the melted cheese. It also had walnuts, red dates, radish, and rice cakes. This is a must order for future visits. Overall, this was a very pleasant dinning experience and I am looking forward to my next visit.

I been here since college days back in 2016-18time, yes, they increased the price a lot, but their quality and portion is really good and legit. They have been known for their banchon, and you can ask for refill! Soup, meat, everyone taste pretty good, but personal opinion, I do not like their fried chicken. I love their regular dishes and soup, very tasty, I been here no less than 10 time, I still like to come back. They are pretty spacious, since the building is old, but at least they are pretty clean. The restaurant is meant to share, so go with at least 4ppl so can order more food to try it out!

We ordered the Galbi Jjimi for two people and overall, it was good. I personally would have preferred it a little spicier, and I was expecting smaller pieces of meat, but I didn't mind that they were larger. They provided plenty of delicious side dishes, which was great. The parking lot is a bit limited, but we arrived early so it wasn't as busy as it usually is. The ambiance was pleasant since it was quiet at the time, it made for a calm dining experience. However, the service could use some improvement. Our server only checked on us once and didn't return afterward, so we had to get up to ask for the check and a to-go container. Considering there were only three tables at the time, we felt the service could have been more attentive.

My husband and I love the original location but came to try out this one for dinner as it is a little closer to home. We found the service to be very attentive. The evening was chilly and our server asked us if we would like hot tea which was much appreciated. We got the bibimbap, soondubu (tofu stew) and gogi mandu (steamed meat dumplings) our ban chan came out very quickly after. I found the cucumber kimchi to be super yummy and immediately asked for a refill and our server piled it up! We were not impressed by the bibimbap as we did not realize it was ground beef and didn't find the flavor to be anything special. The soondubu was solid but I've had better. The gogi mandu was perfectly steamed and we loved the thin wrapper but the greens it sat on top off stuck to the bottom of the dumplings and we found that part inedible. We jokingly called it "plastic lettuce" Overall, it was alright but we prefer the original location on Folsom Parking: Can get filled quickly but we were lucky to find a spot. Not sure on parking availability outside the small lot.

I've been to YD three times in 2 weeks since moving here. It's unbearable all the bonchon you get! The restaurant is very clean and cozy. We ordered the soondubu and bulgolgi and they were so tasty! The service is pretty fast as well! We were able to be seated right away each time.

It's my third time here and every visit has been a good experience. The place is spacious and clean. The food is great and authentic. Everything we ordered was delicious. Service was okay. Overall, it's a spot I'll always come back to. Just a heads up, during busy hours, it can be hard to find parking.

Everything we ordered was delicious. I loved the side dishes. The food came out quick. The pancake was bomb!

It was hard for me to rate this place because I really enjoy their banchan-style dishes and have never been disappointed with the quality of the food. However, the service has been quite slow on the times I've visited. I ordered the galbi short ribs and beef bulgogi--both were flavorful and well-seasoned. The japchae was cooked just the way I like it, and all the side dishes were great. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, with limited parking and seating that can get crowded during peak hours. I recommend calling ahead if you're coming with a larger group.

While the parking lot is on the smaller side, the amount of banchan you are provided is worth finding that parking space! There are many items to choose from on the menu but it's hard to beat the galbi. As soon as you order the banchan comes out and shortly after your food is in front of you! This location is a nice size for different party sizes. Being so close to Land Park, it's a nice way to fill yourself up and walk it off afterwards.

My friend recommended this place and decided to give it a try on our way back to the east bay from Roseville! This spot was sooo good! The amount of banchan you get is lovely! We got the seafood tofu soup + Galbi jim as well and it was delicious! This place gave a more authentic Korean vibe. We went around 4Pm and it wasn't busy but saw that business trickled in while we were there and they were fairly busy! I will definitely be coming back next time I am in the area.

There are a lot of parking here. The inside is spacious, great for groups of 8 or less. The service is quick and courteous. There are soooo many banchan options, and they're all delicious. We especially loved the beef soon dubu and beef bulgogi plate. The hot stone bibimbob was also deliciousss. Definitely recommend! Still thinking about this

YD Tofu House my beloved. The number of banchan dishes alone makes me giddy. The portion sizes are great. The food is no frills but filling and done well. There are a number of dishes that are also large and meant to be shared family-style. Personally, I have had the bibimbap, the soft tofu soup (sundubu jjigae), and the seafood pancake (haemul-pajeon). The dishes in stone bowls come out appropriately searingly hot and sizzly; the tofu soup was still bubbling, perfect for cracking the included raw egg into. I liked the seafood pancake, but it's even better after chucking it in the airfryer to crisp up. All were very satisfying and I always have leftovers. The ambiance is roomy and very casual. There's enough space for a large group. The service is prompt and breathable, nothing crazy--as expected for a place like this. Staff were readily available to answer the questions I had about any dishes (there are a lottt of names on the menu). I had no problem requesting rice or an extra banchan. Eating here feels like a hug...a boiling spicy hug.

Do you grill your own food?

Nope. I usually consider Korean bbq (kbbq) to be the grill-it-yourself type place. This is just a regular Korean food restaurant.

    Anyeong, do they have Jajangmyyeon?

No. You will not find jajangmyeon at a Korean restaurant. You will find Jajangmyeon/Tongseok/Jampong at a Chinese restaurant owned by Koreans.

The somewhat open kitchen is always fun as well. The Food: Smokehouse Dip: OMG a smoked french dip? Yes please. Nicely sliced smoked meat with a bun that had just enough integrity to survive being dunked in the jus but soft enough to eat without. The melted cheese added a nice counterpoint to the smokey meat and helped offset the saltiness of the jus. Add a bit of their house bbq sauce and it was perfect. Onion Rings: Like a moth to flame I will order this everytime. perfectly friend and just the right batter to onion ration. My brother and his wife found Silverback BBQ through a friend who highly recommended trying this for a party. We wanted something special for the birthday and my dad loves bbq. Ok we all love it but this was all geared for my dad. I bbq and smoke meats sometimes so I have some idea what to expect. I knew the food was going to be great just from word of mouth and some of the pictures on his site so the expectations were high. We paid extra to have the food delivered. Communication and payment was easy. Silverback BBQ (Carl is his name if I recall) and his wife both delivered the food. I was worried it might be cold but the special container he used, some kind of large carrier or crate kept the food very warm. It was steaming when everything was placed on the table. The smell was amazing! He proceeded to cut up the tri-tip into slices. I can't remember if the ribs were already cut or not before or during. He had made everything to our own specifications. We wanted medium well, somewhat spicy with some sweet and that's exactly what we got. The tri-tip had a beautiful cherry smoke ring on it. It was juicy and tender. The ribs were perfect. Again juicy, easy to bite off the bone but it didn't just fall apart, had some pull to it(which is good!). Flavor was great. Let's just say my sister who never eats ribs had a second helping. Price was great for everything that was included. I wasn't expecting Carl to also cut the tri-tip in front of us and serve everything. He took a lot of care to make things very enjoyable and I'm serious about that. Aside from the food I give his service 100% perfect. The whole process was entertaining and fun plus he took pictures with my dad and some of the family. I can't describe his personality with enough credit. He's just a cool dude for lack of a better word. Professional but cool. Looking forward to the next event when we can order more!

We tried their lunch special at $25.90 per person, which is honestly an incredible deal. It includes the full salad bar plus table-side service with about 11 different cuts of meat. The portions were so generous that we filled up before we could even try them all... and this wasn't even the premium, full experience! The salad bar alone is worth a visit. It had a great variety, even including hot dishes like beef stew and chicken stroganoff. Still thinking about those yucca fries! If you just want the salad bar, it's only $17.90, which is a great lunch deal in downtown. What really set the experience apart, though, was the service. Erika took such great care of us--attentive, warm, and genuinely kind. Even though it was just a casual weekday lunch for us, she made us feel like we were celebrating something special.
