Very lowkey and darker lit, haven't been in a while but have always loved the Chicken Supreme and the sandwiches.

Prime rib and seafood are great here. Very nice staff as well. Family owned for decades.

Constantly great meals, seafood is always fresh, they serve a a very good South Shore Bar Pizza (secret, ask for the specialty pizza menu) and very good bar selection! Driving up, my first impression was that the place was closed; the windows were dark and it was difficult to figure out which door was the entrance. The signage was confusing and had two business names including "O'Leary's Pub." We went in and the place was neat and well organized although somewhat dated and a bit worn down and old (sort of like most of the patrons the average age of which was probably 75). There was also an unused stage--damned shame since I love live music. BUT... To me, the food and the service matter the most since that's what we were there for! The server was very friendly and prompt, and we ordered a tuna melt and pot roast--both were delicious! So I'm giving this one 5 stars. read more

Can I click zero stars? This is hands down the worst restaurant I ever have eaten at. I was audibly laughing towards the end of the meal because I began to think my gf had put me on a prank show. First, it was a weekend at around 6:30pm. Prime dinner time right? We were the 2nd booth of people and 2 old men sitting at the bar. Crickets on what should be a slammed evening dinner. First we order the Buffalo Chicken Dip as an appetizer. Around 20-25 minutes later, it arrives. Mind you, we are 2 of only 4 people in a barren dining room. If they were slammed i can understand 20 minutes waiting. When it arrives, ice cold. Not only ice cold, liquefied. Pure soup, no buffalo flavor, no spice. We each took 2 bites, sent it back and asked to have it removed from the bill. Main course: She orders fried whole belly clams. Their menu touts fresh seafood! We are quite excited for this! I order the chicken cordon bleu with veggies and mashed potatoes. She instead gets fried clam strips, and CLEARLY frozen. Like the kind my parents got from the grocery store when I was a kid. Just bland and not fresh, also not whole belly. My chicken cordon bleu was dry. Only the maranade made it tolerable. But what KILLLLLLLED us was the mixed veggies were the same that come out of the can for 49 cents, and the insta-quick mix 50 cent mashed potatos dust just add water garbage. It was the EXACT stuff I ate as a broke college kid and they had the balls to charge 16.95 for it. At this point, I'm laughing. I'm laughing in utter disbelief that a restaurant would serve the instant mashed potatoes. How expensive are real potatoes?! Dirt cheap! It literally tasted like I was eating whipped air. To the waitresses credit, she was kind and understanding and even agreed with our criticisms. The only freah item I had was the lime that came with my Corona. Never ever ever eat here. read more

Came with my husband for the first time around 2:30p.m. Room was slightly busy but quiet enough to enjoy the booth we were in. Waitress was very pleasant and friendly. The meals were very fresh and delicious. Clam chowder was full and thick. I had the Clam straps and he got the swordfish. Both were very good. Overall it's something I'll come back for. Fairly inexpensive based on what you get. Expect a $40-ish bill. read more

You know what - I like this place. So does my wife. As other reviewers noted, it's a local joint - and it's not fancy, but the food is good and service attentive. We've tried the pizza there, which is quite good, salads are fresh, and I had the shrimp dinner which I enjoyed. It's definitely an older crowd that go there - not saying that I'm old by any stretch of the imagination, it's just not as trendy or hip as say Chili's or TGI Friday's. As my wife explains, it has a "family atmosphere", and one that you could comfortably take your grandparents to for dinner. Definitely food for all ages. There's ample parking, and we've never had to wait to be seated. Prices are very, very reasonable. read more

I was here for dinner with a friend and my brother. The food is always good. I had the broiled scallops, baked potato, green beans, the rolls are just like school bread from childhood. It is an EB locals joint. Food is good and that is what most people want when they go out to eat. My sister said since the Joppa closed this is the place EB folks go out for good old fashion stick to you ribs food. read more

Oh my gosh, THE ROLLS!! The rolls are amazing; they're soft, light, and served HOT! Best bread around. If they offered honey butter with them, my mind would totally explode! We also love the classic, no-fuss Yankee fare, and always save room for dessert because, well, that Boston cream pie isn't going to eat itself! My wife and I have been to the Standish Grille twice now. The fist time, we enjoyed our meal (meatloaf and fried lobster) very much. It wasn't anything flashy or fancy, but we do not have refined taste, so to speak, so we left full and content. The staff is EXTREMELY polite and friendly, so we made sure to tip well. The second time, the staff was just as great, but the food was lacking a little. I can't say for sure, but we were both convinced our side dish of vegatbles had come from a can. Of course, I have no way of confirming that, but you get the idea. All in all, The Standish Grille is a decent spot for a decent dinner. I never left raving about the food, but I thought it was decent and priced perfectly. Plus, it's always nice to find a "townie" restaurant to play Keno and get a quick bite! read more

Have driven by this place a 1000 times. This past weekend (early Saturday night) we decided we wanted to try something new and went here. We were delightfully surprised. The entry is into a really good sized bar/lounge area. As stated elsewhere this is not a fancy smanzy place from a decor perspective. It is however clean.and homey. The bartender, an older tall blonde woman (who's name I did not get) was very attentive. We got the normal menu plus a "specials" menu and were impressed with the wide ranging options. Apps, sandwiches and burgers, salads, chops and steaks, seafood, pizza..really a lot of options. My wife ordered a turkey club and I ordered the sirloin and shrimp surf and turf. The veggies of the day selection included 3 options but I can only remember the one I ordered which was cauliflower au gratin. Potato selection included Del Monico, mashed, French Fries and baked, I ordered the Fries. They have a good selection of bottled beers but the only beers available on draft were Bud Lite and Blue Moon. This limitation is once of the silly reasons I did not award 5 stars. The wife rated her turkey club an 8 on a scale of 1-10. My sirloin was tender, flavorful and perfectly cooked to medium as ordered. The 4 large fried shrimp were a real surprise. For fried shrimp they were remarkably juicy and flavorful. Fries were top notch. The cauliflower was quite good. I did something I rarely do which is clean the plate. Half way through dinner the live entertainment started which was a guy playing guitar and singing mostly classic rock. Very nice without being intrusive. We have definitely added this to our list of regular restaurants. read more

Great fish chowder and a pretty packed lobster roll for only $13.95. This place is like the Joppa Grille with booze, only the Joppa was decorated in the 1930's while this one is solid 1981. Comfortable "you can go home again" place for all you local Sachemites. read more

The Standish Grille is a good place to go out to eat with the parents or grandparents. I'm not a fan of seafood, but I've heard that their seafood dishes are better than average. The best thing on their menu now is their version of Chicken Auderves with supreme sauce. They tried to copy the old Condons/TJ's Pub recipe, and they do just as good a job as I remember TJ's ever doing when they were open. I've never gotten a bad pizza there. It's even a good take out pizza, its right up there with all the other local favorite bar pizza. read more

If you're looking for seafood without the ridiculously high prices of being on the water, this is the place to go. Every time I go there, I order something different and they still haven't disappointed me yet. Debby is a sweetheart, and the rest of the folks that work there are just as attentive and quick as she is. No wait time, easy parking, cozy atmosphere. It's hard NOT becoming a regular at a joint this great. Worth it entirely. And they also have solo acoustic music on Saturday nights, so you can enjoy your scallops and clams while listening to country or classic rock. Definitely one of my favorite hangouts. :) read more

Couldnt even get sat in the dining room or lounge. staff ignored us when we came in. the place had a few drunks in the bar, and they were drunk,one guy was almost passed out at the bar. obviously a local place that caters to locals. we were strangers, so guess what? Ignored. and where was that urine smell coming from? will never, ever give them another shot. its not like they were busy either. dining room was empty, about 5 tables in the lounge and about 7 people at the bar. poor customer service at its finest read more

As soon as i walked into the Ye olde Standish Grille and saw the selection on the menu i was like I love this place, but then even better when the polite waitresses or waiters come over it makes you love the food even better. I have been goin to the Ye Olde Standish Grille since i was very little and lovee it and still do. Worst dinner ever - had scallops and clams (so chewy)- even the fries were not good. Hubby had baked stuffed shrimp "rubbery" Stop and Shop frozen veg. medley and fries present better than the sides.
