Korean Assorted Rice Cakes & Treats
    June W.

Definitely recommend this place for Holiday gifts for elderly Koreans especially since we really have hard time finding what they may like... after so much of thinking I have decided to call them and order the baskets of rice cakes & Korean traditional treats. They were so efficient and helpful, more so I was calling in from other state and they even helped with arranging delivery. Everything was well done and my recipients were happy, I did my due diligence of researching best rice cake place in NJ. Job so well done and thanks to all your help, will definitely return to order more. Ironically this was one her favorite rice cake place. YAY!

The best injulmi you can get. Soft with the perfect about of chew.

Favorite place in nj. Korean rice cakes are always delicious and can tell the quality and time it took to make these desserts. Sometimes if you go in the afternoon some of the selections are sold out so try to get there early. Great to treat yourself or give as a gift. They have individually sized ones as well as sets.

    Maggot crawling

Had a maggot or something on mine. Had to spit it out because I noticed something fall off and it was squirming.

An assortment of sweets from Yedang served with tea.

This shop specializes in traditional Korean sweets , many based on rice and with dried fruits and nuts. Excellent and something you should try. Perfect with tea. The staff are lovely people and always helpful. Love this place!

    Rainbow rice cake

My friend surprised me with a rainbow dduk rice cake from Ye Dang. It was so pretty and SO delicious. I can't stop cutting myself another slice. The lady who worked the register was really nice and helpful and they had a nice assortment of other korean rice cakes so I purchased some for my mom. Highly recommend!

Square one filled up the box almost to the edges. This round one is much too small for $55.

*the employee that took my order called me today to offer some freebies. I declined bc I just don't feel like going over there after work however I do appreciate the effort to make amends! Still insisted it was same size though * They are really inconsistent... I ordered my sons birthday dduk cake exactly 2 weeks ago ($50) and ordered another for my mom and used the same verbiage to order. They told me $55 and I figured times are rough bc of coronavirus and maybe price went up. The previous cake was square and huge. This time they prepared a round one that is significantly smaller. When I called to discuss, the employee who picked up the phone informed me that the person who took my order had mentioned it would be round and $55. I have no problem with the round shape but not happy with how much smaller it is. I've attached a pic. The square one filled up the entire box. Height was same (we had left over frozen prices in freezer to compare). Unfortunately I never took a pic of the first cake (birthday party was cancelled). The employee told me that they use the same amount of ingredients to make the square and the round so the quantity we are receiving is the same. While they theoretically may do so, it's hard to believe it happened in this instance, when this round one does not come close to filling up the box as did the square one. I let it go bc I don't feel like arguing with a small business when the economy is spiraling downwards and the employee insisted it's the same size. Maybe moral of story is order square shape

The entrance of Yedang. In the same plaza as the super HMart so convenient to stop in for some snacks after grocery shopping.

My favorite place to get tteok on the East Coast...this tteok jip is way better than the other ones out there. All their rice cakes taste so fresh and are great vehicles for the distinctive flavors such as pine and wormwood. In addition to tteok/rice cake they also have other traditional Korean desserts and many types of packaged beverages. Their shikhye (sweet rice beverage) is the best I have ever had and you must try it if you go! Also prices are really reasonable and many items cost $1 per piece.

Avoid this business if you are looking for a rice cake. Overpriced! Very rude and arrogant staff. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

There is seating inside and out, and the place is bright and clean. There were a lot of good looking pastries that I never tried or heard of, and the lady behind the counter was super nice and helpful with all my questions (thank you!). I would love to come back to dine in as this visit was take out. I ordered: - beef borek: Delicious! It's not overstuffed with ground beef, and the proportion to dough is really filling. You get a pretty big sized borek - I can get 3 meals out of it. - 1 regular simit, and 1 regular butter simit: the regular simit is larger in size than the butter one, but the butter one is much softer and decadent. The butter simit costs a little more, but totally worth it. - 3 types of round nut cookies: two of the cookies were made of nuts and crumbled easily (I preferred the brown one). I didn't catch the name - I gotta go back lol. There was also this round red pink one that tasted like raspberry, and the consistency was like a chewy macaroon - yeah, I gotta go back and get another one.

I came here with a few of my family members and we were thoroughly impressed. We got the dubai…read morechocolate pastry. It tasted great, it was decadent but not too heavy. The Borek was also great. It was buttery and flay and the cheesy filling was not too salty. The latte I had tasted great. The coffee itself was not too strong. It also was the perfect level of sweet to accompany my desserts. The servers were also very kind and welcoming and helped explain everything they had to offer.

I noticed that Mavi's has installed wall mounted televisions, which scroll menu items, specials, and upcoming events. This was my first time ordering from their brunch menu and it was outstanding. My Western Omelette (ham, onion, mushroom, pepper, egg, potato, arugula, almond slices) was an excellent choice. Every ingredient was fresh, the eggs were fluffy, and it was accompanied by a side salad and two large slices of multigrain bread. The other items were the artistically presented Avocado Salad (Avocado, tomato, onion crisp, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, arugula mixed salad, almond slices with balsamic glaze and sesame dressing) and the Toowoomba Shrimp Donkatsu (crispy, golden-fried cutlet smothered in a rich, creamy, and spicy Cajun Toowoomba sauce with shrimp, onions, and mushrooms, served alongside a half-portion of pasta). This dish is succulent, creamy, pleasantly spicy, and thoroughly enjoyed. I'll never dine at Mavi's without ordering a Kimchi Bulgogi Pizza (tomato sauce, mozzarella, onion, mushroom, bulgogi beef, kimchi, scallion, spicy mayo drizzle). Not only does every ingredient dance in your mouth, but the soft beet infused crust makes this one of the best pizzas I've happily savored.

I was excited to finally order dinner after hearing good things, but my husband and I were unfortunately disappointed with the experience. We ordered takeout for dinner: Toowoomba Shrimp Pasta with Tonkatsu and the Spicy Original Tteokbokki (rice cakes) with Fried Kim-ma-ri (fried seaweed rolls). The shrimp pasta had good flavor but the portion was way too tiny. After only three or four bites, it was gone. There were about 4 pieces of shrimp in the entire dish and they could've added more pasta, given that it's not an expensive ingredient. The tonkatsu was also underwhelming. It was a small piece served in a large container that made the portion size look even more skimpy. I was also disappointed in the tteokbokki. It was mostly sauce with no egg and only a few pieces of fish cake, again served in a container that was far too large for the amount of food provided. The kim-ma-ri pieces were fine but also very small. Overall, the meal was underwhelming. For a total cost of nearly $50, the quantities were just way too small. We were left feeling unsatisfied and still hungry.
