My favorite brunch menu was the rose tteokbbokki and I've tried so many lattes but their banana milk latte was amazing I highly recommend trying their cheesecakes (even gluten-free tastes good)! I wanted to attend a Yelp event here one time but didn't get a chance to go, so I came here on a rainy Sunday and got a little bit of everything. Very cute place- reminds me of Paris Baguette. The pastries were all delicious but I would definitely skip on the cheesecakes. I decided to get the black sesame cheesecake to try and it was a little too dry for my liking. Didn't really have much black sesame flavoring either which was disappointing but the packaging was really cute! The place was bright and airy and the staff was very friendly and patient. We also got the chocolate ganache cake which was also mediocre. I've had similar cakes elsewhere and it was much more moist and light. Belle Journee is a lovely Korean bakery with a wide variety of both savory and sweet pastries. They also offer a brunch menu, plus desserts like cheesecakes, tiramisu, tarts, and bingsoo. Their cakes always look so pretty, although I haven't had the chance to try them yet. I tried the ube cheesecake, strawberry cheesecake, and pistachio lava cake. Both cheesecakes were really good -- creamy, flavorful, and not overly sweet. The pistachio lava cake, on the other hand, was very sweet. If you enjoy rich desserts, it would probably pair really well with vanilla ice cream. But if you're not into very sweet treats, I probably wouldn't recommend it. I visited Belle Journée a few times when they first opened and definitely experienced some of their early growing pains. Service was a bit chaotic--my iced lattes were very inconsistent (sometimes packed with ice, other times barely any, and the same went for the milk ratios). I also had an instance where I waited 15 minutes for a drink they said was in the queue but they lost the ticket and was never going to be made, and my friend was overcharged but the cashier didn't know why it was ringing up wrong and didn't know how to fix either . However, the space itself has always been a major highlight: it is incredibly bright, airy, and very comfortable to sit in. On my most recent visit, I was pleasantly surprised to see they've expanded into a full food menu offering Tteokbokki, pasta, salads, and more. They are right on trend with a great variety of salt breads, which I thought were pretty good, and their rice donuts are quite nice as well. Our first reaction to seeing this newcomer to an area already packed with more than half a dozen korean bakeries was, what could they possibly offer that other nearby bakeries don't? We don't hang out at bakeries much anymore, so I'll let the food speak for itself. The mango butter cream bread slice was refreshing with a hint of mango both in the bread and the cream filling. Their red bean bread was better than the red bean bun I got the day before from Paris Baguette. The whole bean paste/filling had a fuller flavour, and that's ultimately what set Belle's apart. The walnut chocolate chip cookie was chocolate-y, nutty delight and the only regret is that we for only one of them. The creme brulee doughnut had a nice custard filling but would work much better as a custard cream bun than what it's sold as, as the icing really detracts from an overall experience. Staff have been quick, efficient, and 'practically' friendly so far, and the ambience is modern casual airy comfy. I hope they continue to improve and innovate. read more

Belle Journée sets itself apart with its wide selection of pastries, and fresh takes on staples you'll find at many other Asian bakeries. I appreciate that the display tags show the time each item was made. This helped narrow down decisions for me as I wanted to grab everything! The pastries we selected were allllll delicious. Truly. There is plenty of seating, and they also serve a separate brunch menu which I'll be returning to sample. This is the second Belle Journee location I've visited (the other is in Ridgefield Park, which is like a Belle Journee Lite - smaller selection, no sit down space). I love this spot a lot better. It's incredibly bright and airy, with an attractive display of goods on one side and a generous seating space on the other. My husband and I have aimed to try something new on each visit, and nothing's ever disappointed. The pastries are always light, delicate, and in that coveted not-so-sweet space that Asians prefer when it comes to desserts and breads. My favorite is always the peanut butter creme bread, a nostalgic fave from my childhood but also an objectively delicious offering. It's got a smattering of peanuts on the top of a split bun, with a generous amount of an airy peanut butter spread. In the refrigerated sections, they have ready made sandwiches, bottled drinks, and a variety of celebration cakes that I imagine would be at the similar caliber and price point of any Korean bakery. We usually take our goodies to go, but we opted to sit in on a recent visit and noticed the menu placards with all their hot, savory brunch options. I checked out the reviews and noticed some 1 stars but their complaints were not honoring a $1 drink and for not having dogs allowed inside. Chill... lol we're the drinks and pastries good tho? Came to visit on a Sunday and it was a pretty full - I actually had to wait for a table to open up! Glad to see that there's good business after the grand opening was just a few months ago. The space is really open and there's a lot of tables with modern decor. I love bingsu and saw that it was on the menu so I decided to be adventurous and tried the crème brûlée one! For $15 it came in a smaller bowl - good to share for 2-3 people. It had this dalgona like sprinkle on top which gave it a crunchy texture, the shaved milk was very creamy and on the bottom there's a layer of custard. The staff was very friendly and answered all my questions. My favorite dessert was Thousand, which is a croissant in a square shape with a very light but perfectly sweet cream. It was absolutely divine!!! I also tired chocolate chip and walnut cookie, which was delicious! There was also a salt croissant, which was so yummy. Don't let the name fool you, the dough was just so good and it had a little hint of salt and a sprinkle on top. I also tried tiramisu and it didn't disappoint. Belle Journee in Palisades Park was enjoyable for a quick brunch on the go in between meetings. When you enter it's bright, spacious, airy and clean. It's modern and welcoming! I found street parking directly in front of store. Parking was pay at the meter and $0.50/ 30 mins. I came for the coffee (cappuccino) which was good, high quality without the bitter aftertaste from other places. I also ordered the creme brûlée for a friend as it looked delicious and the French toast for me. The French toast was massive (see video) with a soft inside and crisp crust. It wasn't overly sweet itself. Just a little syrup with the pecans and mascarpone and it was the right level of sweetness and delightful. It was a bit too much for one sitting for me. Jackie was very helpful and even packed up my leftovers for me after I asked for a to go container for the massive French toast. This location in Pal Park is so nice! There are many outlets and free wifi to customers. It's spacious and bright. They also upgraded the presentation of their food. I remember I got it in a brown paper bowl last time (probably used for take out now). The prices are comparable to other places, tho def not cheap. Their coffee isn't bad, and their tapioca boba is mid, but the drinks and the ambience are good enough to keep me coming back. And there are some really good pastry/ bread options. Bad design and bad manners. I'm a pretty big coffee person, have tried every cafe in the area and was still excited to see another one. That's why I like the neighborhood. But skip this one if you can. First impressions, design is pretty bad, furniture is find enough but the layout is miserable. Everywhere feels like you're in the way. On top of that they have this advertisment wrap on the windows so you can't even enjoy the view outside if you are seated by the windows. Manners are also pretty bad. Being a big coffee person I will usually stop in to get a coffee to go during a run with my baby or a walk with my dog. This time I wanted to pop in to get a quick iced coffee while walking a puppy king charles cavalier. I picked up the puppy and held him in my arms so he wouldn't bother anyone, he'd just been groomed so super clean. Probably cleaner than most people (no judgement). The kid at the register was nice enough and took my order, but then the owner/manager? ran over started whispering in his ear and he told me to go outside and they'd bring me my coffee. No sign at the door, no "sorry" from the manager, no asking if he was an emotional support animal. Just get out. She didn't even look me in the eye, or try to be kind to a customer. Had a latte there once before and it was pretty trash (which is what I'm seeing from other people here too), was just giving them another shot. In closing, there are so many great cafes, I'd go to any other one. Two better ones are across the street. read more
