They pay attention to details and explain things along the way with patience and kindness. My little guy is on the spectrum and will need to have GA for his dental work and I honestly don't know if I'd let any other Dr see him. From Miggy and Trang upfront, to Demitria and the others in the back, you will feel comfortable and confident with your care.

The front desk is friendly & efficient. The dental assistants have all been amazing and caring, and we have now seen 3 dentists here who all have been wonderful with both of our kids. We found them through our…read moreDental Provider and they're extremely close to our home as well as a very reasonable distance from my kids' schools (Lake High School and Idlewild Elementary), which makes appointments that happen during the school day a lot easier! It also helps that they've always run very close to on-time - if not completely - when we have had an appointment. For a working Mom with 3 kids, this is an extremely important characteristic in an office. As an adult, I've had a good experience here with only one exception. My only negative experience (the loss of one star) has been over paying for a sleep guard that did not work... by "did not work", I mean that it did not fit the first time and cracked when I tried it on before even leaving the office, seeming to be made with a very brittle material. They were VERY kind and re-did my molds and sent away for another guard. This one arrived after a couple weeks and still fit very oddly and tightly. Dr Lo did his best to adjust the fit and told me it was ok to be tight... then one night, while wearing it (and biting on it - my primary reason for having it since I have TMJ and clench my teeth badly) it cracked in half and I woke up to it in the back of my throat, as I'd inhaled it and I rolled over and coughed it out. Kinda scary. Since then, they've apologized for the incident and promised to take care of the cost of the guard, but I haven't received an update (it's been about 4 weeks). My dental care - cleanings, x-rays, etc - have all been great. The staff is all wonderful and Dr. Lo is kind and a great communicator. My kids have also had great experiences. My 15 year old has connected with one of the Hygienists who has been able to really convince her about the importance of consistent brushing a flossing (a constantly battle with her since she was old enough to brush her own teeth) and this year she is cavity free for the first time since she was 9! Yay! My 5 year old has had a positive experience here, also. They're not a "kids" office but they do accommodate kids well. We had some trouble with x-rays due to the size of the guards inside of my daughter's mouth the last time we were there so we had to skip the x-rays this time around because it seems they were causing her pain (I don't see this as their fault - she got herself psyched up and couldn't be talked down). We'll continue seeing Lo Family Dental, though we might look into a kid-specific dental office if we continue to have issues with my youngest and her anxiety about x-rays.

From the moment we walked in, the staff was professional, polite, and so welcoming. They were patient and kind with the kids, which immediately put us all at ease. An employee, Shalona, said, "He peed last time he was here." I retorted, "That's absolutely & verifiably false." She replied, "That's neither here or [sic] there, but he can't be in here with no documentation or harness." I showed her the law (RCW) on my phone, showing it's not required & she exclaimed, "Don't put that phone in my face! If you don't take that dog out, we'll call the police!" I did not put my phone in her face & hoped she'd call the police, so it'd be documented. The witnesses would've been named in a lawsuit... Ultimately, Dr. Luong emerged & mediated a compromise, whereby he said our dog could stay for the visit if I agreed not to bring him again. Shalonda lied about our dog urinating in the office, violated my rights & threatened to call the police. This business should educate itself on the Service Animal laws of this state, so as not to violate other people's rights. Moreover, they should treat people with dignity, respect & professionalism. Being accountable isn't their priority, as that entitled, rude & disrespectful Karen should've been reprimanded & made to apologize for her deplorable behavior. This place does not seem to value parent input and if parents question or ask about anything regarding treatment plans for their young children they seem to take it personal and become very defensive. The dentist we had today since the ownership has been transferred, stated that if we allow our children to say no to fluoride, that we needed to take our business elsewhere. I have never felt so upset about being discriminated against for making decisions/advocating for my children's health as their parent. I felt pressured into using fluoride when it is against what my family practices at home are. I asked him if my children have any cavities, he said, "No, not at this time." I said, "You told me that the last two visits and I have refused to put fluoride on my children's teeth for the last two years." My children have been cavity free ever since we made the decision to go fluoride free. The Dentist has no right to dictate health decisions for my family, especially when there is no scientific proven health benefits from fluoride use, to the contrary actually. I felt like I was being pressured by the fluoride police! I made a choice to change my children's dentist after this last visit due to being bullied and being told to go elsewhere.

Just because she is a child does not give anyone the right to devalue her pain tolerance and ignore the trauma she was experiencing. Not once did they ask her if she wanted to stop. Upon my arrival to the back area the dentist then shot me a quick dirty look and walked away to start with a patient while I began questioning why she is being forced to endure this kind of pain. I inquired about the local anesthetic my daughter received and was informed it was administered. I said this would be it for today and we will reschedule further treatments and require more sedation to ensure my daughter was comfortable during her next treatment. When the dentist came back he then proceeded to ask my daughter what hurt while her jaw was wired open and she was unable to answer, my frustration grew and repeated my daughter was done here today. The dentist bluntly stated general sedation was an option but our insurance wouldn't cover it as if money would alter my decision in my daughters dental care. I understand that dental care is important however this is the very reason kids do not go to the the dentist as adults because of traumatic experiences such as this one. But that's not all! While scheduling my 8 yr old son for sedation for his treatments the receptionist then stated there would need to be two adults present, then inquired how old my daughter was. I replied she is 15 and asked why that's important and the receptionist stated "well your son may need to be carried out." So your telling me you'll sedate my child and then not give him any recovery time here to be able to walk on his own? I then informed the receptionist that my husband would be with available. I believe this receptionist assumed I was a single mother just like the dentist assumed I couldn't pay for sedation because insurance wouldn't cover it. I hope this review helps anyone looking for a great pediatric dentist.
