If you are looking for a seamstress to alter your dress, Yee Mei is the best! I bought my dress in Las Vegas and had to get it altered. I bought it off the rack and it was a size 18. I'm normally 8-10 in dress sizes. I knew that finding a seamstress to alter my dress on Oahu would be difficult, especially with how big my dress was, and I was expecting it to be very expensive with the amount of work she had to do. Her pricing was VERY reasonable, and way cheaper than what I would have been charged in Vegas to alter my dress. She offered suggestions on what she thought would look best but ultimately left it up to me to decide if her suggestion is what I wanted to do and didn't give me a hard time if I didn't want to do it. On my wedding day, I received so many compliments from my now husband, and friends/family about how good my dress looked and that it fit me perfectly or that this dress was made for me. I bought my wedding dress on the continent and brought it home with me knowing I needed to get alterations done. I was assuming I'd need to go somewhere in Chinatown, but I didn't know where to start. So I used the yelp search for services feature and Yee Mei was the first to respond. Yee Mei is a sweet lady who operates her alteration business out of her home. When I would go in for an appointment, I'd park on the street and stand in the drive way to call before walking through the side gate to the back of the house where her little studio is. I had Yee Mei alter my wedding dress. It cost about $650 and I went in 3 times to see her. I'm not sure what it costs normally to alter a multilayer gown with sheer fabric and lace on the neckline, but the price I paid seemed reasonable. She did a wonderful job with what I brought her haha. I wasn't like in love with my dress when I bought it, but after the alterations, it's perfect. I love my dress and I'm so excited to get married. Yee Mei was very nice and she gave good recommendations. She really cared about my dress and making things perfect. I appreciated her flexibility working with my work schedule and being communicative when we needed to reschedule appointments. Yee Mei was the perfect person to alter my wedding dress. She reminded me a lot of my mom and made me feel right at home. I did not fit my wedding dress at our first appointment and she was very nice but honest about my options. She recommended that I played it safe and add a laced back with extra fabric from shortening the dress. Yee Mei reassured me that if I did not like it, it would be very easy to take out. At our second appointment we tried on the dress with the new alterations and it fit very well. I loved how it looked so we kept it as is. Yee Mei also added a bustle and made sure my slit was not too short. My fiancé at the time also came to the appointment to make sure his suit didn't need any alterations. Yee Mei said it fit him perfectly and sent him on his way. She was very detailed at our appointment and ensured everything would look perfect for pick up at our 3rd appointment. We had my bridesmaids come with me at our last appointment so she could teach her how to properly lace my dress. Everything went very well and she was so funny and super sweet. I found Yee Mei through a frantic search on Yelp after I received a call from David's Bridal informing me that they were shutting down their Pearl City store. This meant that my appointment I scheduled for wedding dress alterations was canceled. Not to fret, my wedding is still 4 months out, but I don't work well under pressure with last minute things so I wanted to get ahead of the other 2023 brides who would probably be in the same boat as myself. Yee Mei was so sweet and she really knows her craft. She made recommendations on alterations on my dress. I had my straps shortened and my dress hemmed a few inches. She scheduled me for a fitting date 2.5 weeks out, and if during that appointment there are additional alterations that needed to be done, we would schedule a 2nd fitting. I came in for my first fitting and my dress fit like a glove! There was no need for me to come in for a 2nd fitting and my dress was done in 2.5 weeks! One thing crossed off my wedding checklist. She also gave me the leftover fabric that I can use for my bouquet. Highly recommend Yee Mei and I will definitely go back to her again for my alteration needs. read more

I'll never come back to this business and will always recommend someone else if anyone is looking for a seamstress. I was assuming I'd have a good experience judging by all the good reviews. I drove from town to her home business in mililani. My dress which needed to be hemmed only two inches at the bottom and sleeves shortended I was charged 225$(no tax). My dress only costed me 50$ and I even gave her the extra fabric she needed. On my way out she then said she requires a deposit and only takes cash it's her policy (which isn't written anywhere on yelp , (website which doesn't work) or texted to me in the conversation we had and made me (7 months pregnant) drive around to find an ATM. She was very quick with listing all the ATMs in mililani so I'm assuming she's done this to customers many times. The audacity to tell me to becareful and take care of myself after having me run around trying to find cash in the heat when in another review she gave them different options. She stated "how is that my fault that you don't feel good." Truly disgusting. I think the courtesy of having people go through that even not pregnant is still highly inconvenient. I chose to go home and let it go despite everyone telling me how much I got ripped off. We did choose Friday as pick up and I asked if I could just pick up the dress early. She texted me "Sorry I open 12pm. You can pick up all day from 12pm to 4pm or 5pm" which I responded I'd come at 12 to pick up. I then did not hear anything for a week and texted her 4 times later asking if the pickup time is still ok. No response. I then called again and she said no. That she has appointments and I must make an apt to pick up. At this point it was insane the run around and poor treatment with her yelling at me "what do you want me to do about it?" She then stated come at 12pm if Its just a pick up and to not try on. That she has other appointments. Arriving at noon to just pick up the dress and pay she told me to try it on after yelling at me over the phone the previous day that I could not. I was kind of in shock so she responded with "What now you don't have time ?" Such narcissistic behavior. After paying and choosing not to respond she stood outside for 5 minutes at her front gate staring me down as I got ready for the long drive home. Disturbing. If you scroll down her reviews you will find some reviews like this. I was later quoted 30$ from business "Alterations by Tuyet"afterwards to do the same exact thing she did. The sweetest tiny lady!! I don't really have many things that I need altered so I literally just opened up Yelp (as I usually do when I'm looking for something new) and found her location was close to me. I had a few pairs of pants and a dress that needed to be hemmed. I called her and she had an opening the next day. She told me to bring shoes that I would wear. Arrived and she was wearing a mask which I appreciated because so was I. She has a little studio that is her workspace. Pinned all my items and the total was $85. Not sure if that was a good price but I wasn't going to tell her that I wanted to check out anywhere else. I had the option to pay then or when I picked up my items. I liked that. She said it would be about a week. Came back with my shoes and tried everything on. Perfect!! Like I stated earlier I don't have anything to compare so this is based on my personal experience with her. We will be taking my daughters prom dress there also. I found a dress at Macy's for a quick wedding in Hawaii. I flew the dress all the way down from California and frantically tried to find someone to take the straps in a bit. I found Yee Mei on Yelp and emailed her. She responded within an hour and I drove on down to show her my dress and see what she could do. Yee Mei has a little shop in the back of her house in Mililani (she used to work for a long time at a bridal shop in town, doing, you guessed it, altering wedding dresses!). I called her to let her know I was there, and this lovely lady came to come and get me. As soon as I met her, I knew we'd get along. She is the sweetest, and delightful to work with. She got me into my dress and confirmed my suspicions that I had to take the straps up a few inches (I'm short, what can I say). She also decided to take care of the hem (again, short) but leave the back a little long for a train effect (perfect!). Finally, she looked at the dress and decided to add darts in the dress to allow for my bust to look fabulous. It was Monday when I brought the dress to her. I asked her if she could finish it by Thursday. She flashed a smile and said no problem. I wrote her a local check and she said to come back on Thursday. Thursday came, I called her up, got let into her little workshop. Tried it on and that dress, was, magic. She made that dress look like it was made for me. Not gonna lie, I almost cried because it was so perfect. When I came to pick it up initially it was a tiny bit too snug around my ribs, so she kept it and altered it again so that it fit perfectly. Can I just say that Yee Mei is just amazing and so sweet! She allowed me to wear my dream wedding dress! I was behind on getting my dress altered and another seamstress, who I was in contact earlier with in the year, was no longer available. Scrambling to get my dress done in about a month, Yee Mei let me come in for a consultation. I was sure I needed the dress to be made slightly larger, hem the bottom, bring the straps up, and add a bra padding. Yee Mei was able to do it all, except she advised that I did not need to make the dress larger. She was confident the dress fit, but it was just a bit snug. I jokingly asked if she meant my one scoop of ice cream needed to drop down to a spoon and she said yes. I left the dress, then a week and a half before the wedding, I went in for the second fitting. Yee Mei is a miracle worker! I have been working with her since February of this year when we had planned to have a wedding reception in June but obviously 2020 changed everyone's plans. Through all the changes and postponements she has been so accomodating, understanding and helpful. She knows what she is doing when it comes to expensive wedding dresses! We had to undo some of the initial alterations because I am now pregnant but her ideas to make the dress fit and look perfect for our adjusted plans are things I would have never thought of!
