Worst cab ever. First of all why doesn't this city have Uber? Second of all don't take yellow cab. I needed to get reimbursed from a company I was interviewing with. Told the driver from the start I need a receipt. He took my email address and sent me something from his square account. Called another time needed a ride to airport. He was there after 25mins. He told me it would be 5-10. Then the nightmare started. The receipt I got was for someone in Denver. I submitted this for reimbursement and my company refused. I called the cab company and let the rep know I needed a receipt and was immediately transferred to someone who was not at their desk. I sent a request via their website, never heard back. I called again, was transferred to another persons voicemail. Left a message explaining my situation yet again. I called again and was transferred to yet another persons voicemail. At this point I didn't understand why nobody would pick up their phone. I called again and was transferred to customer service. Explained my situation and tried to see who they were transferring me to and they did it so quick not taking a second to listen. I left another voicemail on god knows who's phone. Finally I reached the same representative told him I'd been calling for a while same receipt lady. He told me he would call for me and keep calling until someone picked up. This was so nice because I finally got to talk to a person and not leave a message. It was the same person who I had left a couple of messages for. He told me he would email me a correct receipt. Just tried to call a cab and the dispatcher was super rude. I gave him the intersection where I was -not good enough. Okay here's the business name-nope not good enough. Okay here's the address - still not good enough he needs a zip code. Is it possible Austin Yellow Cab is the only place in America without the internet? How could you possibly expect people to choose traditional cabs over ride sharing when you can't do your customers the courtesy of modernizing your archaic business practices just enough so customers aren't required to know the zip code of every place they may need a taxi to or from? As a visitor to Austin I'm appalled not only by how antiquated this taxi company is but how incredibly rude the dispatcher was on top of it. Right after Uber and Lyft left Austin, I was forced to take a cab as I'd had a bit to drink. Lo and behold this perv cab driver got all touchy feely with me and was calling and texting me even after he dropped me off. I could not get over the irony that somehow cab drivers were supposed to be screened and safer than Uber or Lyft drivers. Made appointment to for a cab to show up at a particular time to get to airport, got a message from dispatch the driver is coming, got a message from driver that he's coming, waited and waited turns out he's not coming and picked up someone else on the way. At first I thought maybe it was my first cab, we all have bad days but after my thirds cab ride when I specifically told the cab company I was in a time constraint and she said "it won't be more than 15 min" which I thought was a bit long but decided to wait. I told him I was in a hurry and he kept browsing through his photos on his phone.. then when I had to change my destination bc it was clear I was not going to make it back to my hotel before dinner, he asked me to use my own GPS to guide him!!! Called a YELLOW CAB Monday night to take me from the Austin Motel on S. Congress to Antone's on E. 5th because I am an old lady who's used the trad cabs for decades and is happy to pay cab rates for a clean, roomy vehicle. Instructions for back building and room number given, but we soon spy YELLOW CAB #331 circling the front repeatedly, flag it, and find that yes, it is my cab. A little concerned as to the driver's state of mind as he's frothing about the pickup spot and clearly DID NOT KNOW THE AUSTIN MOTEL. "Do you know where Antone's is?," I ventured. "Sure! Get in!" I waved to Steve, fairly sure the 10 or so blocks to Antone's were in hand. My husband looks very suspicious but waves farewell. Yellow Cab driver 331 blabbers down Congress then turns right on Riverside at Congress. Maybe 5th at Congress is closed and he's taking me the long way because he has to, I am thinking until he hurtles across IH 35 headed east. "Excuse me, where are you taking me?" "To Antone's on Riverside!" "It's not on Riverside, hasn't been in 2 years, it's on 5th by the Convention Center." "It's on RIVERSIDE! I took someone there last week!" he yells at me, LYING. "It was at 5th and Lavaca and they moved!" "Yes, but then they moved AGAIN, they opened here New Year's Eve, and are on 5th now! Dude, I know what I'm talking about!" Drive is turning around by now. "Well, okay I will take you to this Antone's on 5th Street instead of Riverside, but don't blame me if it's wrong!" I am pretty freaked out. IS THIS AUSTIN??? First van/cab when to the wrong door. He did let me sit in front seat, but at destination did not position van to allow me to use the ramp to sidewalk. Waited 15 minutes for the return trip on another van/cab which was much worse--had to sit in the rear because front seat was filled with trash and there was no position that was comfortable for my knees. My husband has used Yellow Cab many times for several years. He is a double amputee with no legs. Today he called for a handicapped cab at 10 am for a 11:40 am appointment. He also had a 1:10 pm appointment right across the street from the first. Around noon a cab driver called my husband. He could not find the building so he left. Really??!! No one else from Yellow Cab has ever had this problem.The first appointment had to be cancelled. At 12:30 pm Yellow Cab could not tell my husband when he could get a cab. Two critical doctor appointments had to be rescheduled. This is my second review for terrible service by Yellow Cab for my handicapped husband. Absolutely horrendous. The worst service ever. Do yourself a favor and never use them if you want to get anywhere and definitely not if you need to be on time. I booked my yellow cab via their app 48 hours to my trip. It supposed to arrive at 4:30 am. By the time 4:45 am came, I was finally put through an operator who told me that they are "trying" to locate my taxi as there is no available in my area. The operator was absolutely useless and never put me through a supervisor as I requested. She simply hung up on me since that was the easiest thing for her to do. Needless to say, I had to take my car to the airport and made my flight with 10 min to spear. Yellow cab, you should be shot down and boycotted because your customer service is below zero. You DO NOT AND WILL NEVER measure up Uber or Lift on any level and I hope we'll get those services back in Austin very soon so you can go out of business. I'll never give you my business again. First time since Uber was banned in Austin and I scheduled a Yellow Cab to pick up at 8:30. Well 8:30 comes and goes so I call and they dispatch a car 20 minutes out... Now I'm running late for the airport. Horrible service. Hard to use. Thanks Austin City Council for taking away Uber and Lift; why don't you go suck a cow chip. To add insult to injury, they actually canceled the cab without calling or notifying me at all. Great service, and I understand I may be the exception here. Scheduled a car last night for this morning--it showed up 10 mins early and the driver even called to let me know he was outside. Unreliable. The online taxi ordering system doesn't work. You find that out when your taxi doesn't arrive. Then you call and wait another 30 minutes. Not useful if you actually need to be somewhere as is often the case if you need a cab. read more

Although the drivers are friendly, they do not compensate for the incompetence of Austin Yellow Cab. Multiple experiences of lost reservations and late cabs have resulted in many missed flights and last minute scrambling at 5am to get to the airport. I'm done with this company. read more

Moved back to Austin and tried to give yellow cab another try - but wasn't even able to do that (or give feedback). Both yesterday and this morning, the servers weren't working properly - so can't use hail a cab app, can't book online, and can't even send an email on the contact us page. Stuff happens with servers, sure, but it has been over 24 hours and still have the issue - and including on a Saturday which I would imagine is high volume. If you call a cab it will not show up! Do not use this service, it sucks. If you call to check on the cab, they will say it is on its way - it isn't. The reviews are correct, this company's service really, really, really sucks. So bad they had to create a different Yelp account because their original sits at a one-star rating.
